    This was super helpful, thank you! In about 20 minutes, I was able to do this in GIMP since I don't have PS and now I have a digitized version of my calligraphy logo! Thanks!

    Hi! But in this case you have no lines behind. What if you write on lined paper? How do you hide the lines? Using the eraser would take too long if it's a whole text you need to erase. Thanks for answering!

    • @elisaanne
      @elisaanne  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      vlisdero I simply suggest not using lined paper if at all possible ;)

    Thanks so much for this video! I've been using photoshop for very basic purposes for years and you taught me a few super helpful hints. Was that lettering done with a brush pen?

    Do we always have to vectorize all calligraphy before print it? for example for Menu Design, is it enough using like this tutorial to go print?

    • @elisaanne
      @elisaanne  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you do not need to vectorize your calligraphy before you print it! Digitizing it like this is just fine. If you want to know what the purpose of vectorizing is, check out my Vectorizing video!

    Can you make a short video to demo the clipping mask to show changing the colour of the words. Many thanks! I have tried but in vain.

    The best tutorial I've seen so far! Thank you! Is there a way to make the color even and change it to a different one? I'm using a marker so the lettering doesn't look as perfect as it could.

    • @elisaanne
      @elisaanne  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, using a clipping mask! There's a lot of videos for that if you search :)

    I'm nowhere near ready to start this process but this was helpful anyway since photoshop is super overwhelming to me so thanks for the video. What is the difference between digitizing and vectorizing? Also, other clips I've seen of calligraphers editing their work they add I guess what would be pixels to make the strokes thicker or look more even, will you be showing how to do that at some point? I hope that makes sense.

    • @elisaanne
      @elisaanne  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Digitizing your lettering means you are just transferring it to a cleaned-up digital form! Vectorizing means that you take it into Illustrator and turn it into a vector. Vectors can be blown up and printed on banners/huge posters without becoming pixilated. There is a misconception that you always have to vectorize your lettering, which isn't true :) Digitizing it & cleaning it up in Photoshop works just fine for the most part!

    It would be helpful if you made the Photoshop window full screen. Not everyone is able to read small letters in white.

    Wouldnt it just have been easier to type the word on the background, either that or use the magic eraser to get rid of the background leaving the letters?

    • @elisaanne
      @elisaanne  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, not in this case, no! This is my own handwriting that has been scanned in, not a font :) But yes the magic eraser is a great tool as well, there are multiple ways to do this!

      You can speed up the video... not everyone can speak quickly and come across coherently. I had it at 1.5x and it didn't affect the quality.

    • @elisaanne
      @elisaanne  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My biggest complaint from my audience is that tutorials are often too fast and hard to understand, which is why this one is slow. What Sarah did (speed it up to 1.5x) is the perfect solution if you want it faster!
