I just love Jen’s bubbly personality 😃 I hope you’re not having biblical rain. Hopefully you will have nachos and beer soon. 😁 You guys stay safe and happy hiking. God bless
Those crossings mean death for everything in Maryland, especially deer. When I lived there, I thought it would be super rural, but they have tons of those 4 lane 2 way highways where everyone drives like maniacs. Thanks for the video!
For those of you that are coffee connoisseurs I am enjoying a four cup truly rich coffee from the finest roaster in the state. SO VERY YUMMY! Taters sure has a bubbly personality.
Indian food from a nearby gas station? You guys are braver than I thought! Hike 8,000 miles, sure, no problem. No worries mate. But gas station Indian? Wow. Good luck with the biblical rains. Hike on, soggily! Tortoise
The road walking may be a blessing and a curse. We're so saturated here that any rain turns to ponds in non-paved areas (although that may be bleeding into pavement as well). Sending you dry-sock vibes!
Impressive challenge, I wish you luck. Are you editing this as you record it, or have you already finished the hike and are working your way through the footage? Looking at the description of the route, it seems you may pass by not too far from where I am as you approach DC, which is pretty neat!
Nice one ! Two roofs over your heads on one day ?? Masotaters jumps the shark on the ADT ?? Biblical rain in europe : 4 inches in a day, less we call 'a litle shower' .😄
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes You are so lucky in the US to have those wilderness stretches where you can camp almost anywhere . Here it's whishfull thinking ! i planned to do a "camino" from my home (Belgium) to Spain until i added up all the overnight expenses : out of my budget! We have a system (Welcome to my garden) thats resembles what the trailangel did for you (camping in her backyard). But out of my country it's few and far between.Good luck with the hike and thanks for the video's.
@user-cc6pc9wn7x yea, we are. We have some things we’d like to do in Europe but I don’t really care for hostel bunks so we’d probably limit it to things where you can wild camp. The big three trails out here can spoil you
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes For what i know : only some scandinavian countrys Norway , Finland ( not so sure about Sweden) and Scotland allow wild camping. In France you may "bivouac" : camp between sundown and rise , but only out of comunne-ground (the town or village ground). Beware : the rules can change in every "departement" (sort of province) . The Hexatrek-app has wisely marked all of those "bivouac" boundarys,if you have some interest in that one.
What style of New Balance shoes are you using and how are they working out for you, You probably have good idea by know. Hope the band aides are working for you until callouss form again.
All the urban and road walking along with dodging traffic can't be fun compared to you past adventures. Good luck on this new type trek which is a little more civilized.
The Key West to Canada hike I did in ‘21 had a lot of the same sort of thing and in the end it was an amazing experience. There’s always someone saying xyz makes a certain trail not worth it but I’ve been enjoying the adventure so far. Except for the camping stress
Unfortunately started watching your channel two days too late. On the eastern side of the Bay Bridge if you decided to hole up through these last 3 days of downpours. Safe travels
Appreciate the thought :) Fortunately I did the AT a few years back and have the whole “no rain, no Maine” thing internalized. We’ve been making 10-20 the last few days
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes haha I figured seems like you have a few miles under your belt. Curious about the Indian food. Was it from "Friendly's"? I would've totally comped you some real nachos from my restaurant. Ah well, new fan here. Enjoy the trek!
Be careful with the Death crossings. Taters got teeth torture devices good for her. Your hair has gotten quite long, when you get my age you want to have it so it's easier to care for!
So I just watched all your Kansas vids, and now going back, was dogging Kansas then too. You could have turned left or right at the border ya know. Since Nebraska and oklahoma would have been so much better.

Today is looking potentially wild. We’ll see how it goes
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes Oh no!! You both be careful and stay safe!! 🤞

The question everyone wants to know. Will there be a tater Tuesday?
I believe, Frederick Douglass was born, enslaved, on a farm along the Tuckahoe River, just south of your route.
Thanks, Taters it’s good to see you again best of luck, safe journeys. ✌🏻👊🏼
Day 5. New coffee, Hunter Bay Back Country. Very tasty. Snakes and death crossings. ADT is providing interesting scenery.
Matt, you are almost giddy when Jenn is around, and a little less snarky. But just as enjoyable. Be safe and have fun.

I'm home visiting family, so it's keurig for me this morning. Enjoy!

I live on Kent Island. There are awesome restaurants right there--- but not if you dont like seafood I guess. Lol

At least you two had nice weather for your first full day together. Good luck with the biblical rain today.
Some of the best Indian food I have ever had came from a gas station! I hope you enjoyed it!
Same, and it was somewhere super random in the middle of the country, wanna say Oklahoma?
Hey Y'all. Looks like a good day was had by all. Judging by the weather we had yesterday, laying up in a cozy hotel room may be a good idea.
Except for the added expense, I think it's nice you have a comfortable room and good food. Hopefully, the rain has not washed you away. Good luck!
It’s nice but it does add up quickly. And it’s hard not feeling like a room today limits our options for the next few sometimes

I edit the previous day each morning over coffee so the videos are just a few days behind. We’re going through DC tomorrow
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes I see, have a good trip!
I missed Taters infectious laugh. 👍👍😎

Great video. Ditto on the seafood nachos.
Take care on those road walks and death crossings!
Be safe; keep at it!

I’m disliking the lack of legit camping but I knew that would be an issue in this early section. I just keep saying it’ll get better

I’m using the Heiros. Seem to be working ok so far
Gas station Indian food is one step from gas station sushi 😅
Seafood nachos? Yup...in Mary Land. (I'm not a fan either...)
Jen's pack is 😍😍😍

Yup. Big storm. Stay safe.
Just curious, do you wear road running or trail running shoes for those long hikes on pavement?
Just wearing the usual light hikers
