Isn't it pretty clear Luffy is Joy Boy? Roger was waiting for Joy Boy and he died before meeting him. Roger learned about Joy Boy from the Poneglyphs in Fishman Island and then found out who he was from the story he left in Laugh Tale. Then we found out Oden wrote Joy Boy would come to Wano in 20 years, so the reason Rogers couldn't meet Joy Boy was because he didn't exist yet, like with Poseidon (Shirahoshi) since they hadn't been born yet. That's what the Seakings were talking about.

The thing is that, according to Oden, wano needs to be opened by the time that Joyboy arrives and he also said that the pirates who will beat Kaido will arrive in 20 years and those pirates are Luffy and the others. Wano is only going to be opened after Kaido's defeat, and since Oden knew that Kaido will be defeated 20 years later and wano will be opened, he also knew that Joyboy would only arrive after that, because he was ok with delaying wano opening its borders for 20 years knowing that Joyboy won't arrive before that. So, the fact that Luffy is already in Wano to basically open it up means he isn't the Joyboy that Oden said that will come traversing 900 years of time. Because if he knew Joyboy would be amongst the group to defeat Kaido, why would he say open up wano before Joyboy arrived when he himself knew that wano will only be opened after Kaido is defeated? He would have said that "A group of powerful pirates together with Joyboy will arrive in the new world 20 years from now, they will be the ones to take down Kaido." if Luffy is indeed Joyboy. But the way he said it he separated Luffy from Joyboy. Luffy is one of the pirates that will beat Kaido to open up wano, while Joyboy is someone who will appear after Wano is opened.

@@EmanARetne Is it not plausible that Odens premonition is slightly off? If we take into account real world predictions, most are accurate to a certain degree. However if Oden was correct. Then who would be carrying the will of Joy Boy? If not Luffy then could it be Joy Boy himself? Or could it be a character we already know? Or possibly a character we have yet to see faced in the series. Possibly someone only mentioned in passings or yet to be named at all.
Personally, I feel that Luffy has the highest plausibility of being Joy Boy and Odens initial predictions are just slightly askew. However, maybe there’s a plausibility that Luffy hasn’t yet proved enough to inherit the will of Joy Boy and only by defeating Kaido and freeing/ opening the boarders of Wano can he inherit the will of Joy Boy

The treasure he left on laughtale is where the Roger pirates and Oden found out the future events like when the promised day will exactly happen so I really believe that one piece is literally just the true history, it has been said numerous times that one piece can turn the world upside down, what can do that? The true history when it's revealed to the world. Basically, Laughtale is the island of spoilers because it also consists of future events, not just past events. So, Oden's prediction can't be wrong. But, it is still possible that Oden's interpretation of what Joyboy left is wrong, even Rayleigh said that the strawhats might have different answers by the time they get there, so there is still the possibility that it's Luffy, Oden just understood it wrong. However, Oden knew about the next generation that will beat Kaido, that means Joyboy also knew that, if he knew that, he would have probably said he would be amongst the next generation pirates, but Oden still separated the two. That would mean Joyboy said atleast two separate things "I will arrive/come back" this is where Oden got the Joyboy will return and "a group of powerful pirates will come to turn the world upside down" which will happen in the promised day that Joyboy himself made, then Oden just predicted that it would be those pirates who will take Kaido down. I also think it's Luffy but that's kind of straight forward that's why I also think it's not him.
I don't know who else would it besides Luffy and Joyboy in the flesh, iirc, during fishman island, there was a flashback with Otohime where she was talking about a certain man who will teach Shirahoshi how to use her power, there was a sillhouette of a man shown there, with no strawhat but with a long cape, that might have been Joyboy's silhouette.
Well, we will find out sooner or later because it seems Kaido knows something.

About that, something that another theory site brought to my attention. There were multiple identical rooms next to the one that had the giant strawhat. At least 7 that can be seen. So it is possible that each contain a strawhat. One for each race. The one we saw being the room for the Giant race. So It is possible the strawhat was how the Ancient Kingdom crowned their kings, and that hallways was like a trophy room for the strawhats of each race. With one empty room being reserved for the strawhat belonging to the human race. So assuming all that is true it's still possible for Joyboy to be a giant, but it's also possible that the very same strawhat that is on Luffy's head once belonged to Joyboy.
Also him building the ship Noah would be easier due to his size

@@zahidshabir4038 King Neptune is fairly big, and while that still brings up the issue of how the hell a giant impregnates an average human/fishman, there could be something to that. One thing still up in the air though is whether Otohime is related or not, as inbreeding is a possible factor like with the Celestial Dragons. However there could be explanations still such as “She didn’t get giant genes” as we presumably see with Shirahoshi’s brothers, where they are big, but nowhere near the size of her (assuming Giant genes would run in the family, but I don’t know if I’m sold on the idea completely.).

Makes me wonder whether, in the ALLEGEDLY last 3-5 years of One Piece, we're going to have at least a few months dedicated to the Joy Boy/Void Century flashback; during the Laugh Tale arc, for example. On one hand, it's going to be an extremely satisfying of a conclusion to the entire mystery of the World shebang. On the other one... it might have a Half-Life 3 syndrome. The unrevelling is so hyped up at this point that Oda'll have to pull something really massive for it to not result in being underwhelming. Not that I doubt Oda's writing skills, but it's still curious how exactly he'll do it.

heres my theory: Joy Boy is a giant from Elbaf, since i believe its the next arc after wano and the last arc before Laugh Tale and he is the owner of the big Straw Hat thats under Mariejois. Maybe the Giant Straw hat is Pluto? The ancient weapon and Joy Boy was the first King of Elbaf

After this arc we don’t hear about pluton again until water 7 and franky has the blueprints. After alabasta In skypiea we learn of pluton. So. We’ve got 3 weapons. A ship. The mermaid princess and Uranus. So given the line up it’s hard to draw myself to the conclusion a giant straw hat is a weapon of mass destruction

I'm still trying to understand, with time travel being in play Toki' s devil fruit was up for grabs. I have a theory there's one central figure that's been wrapped in mystery, that's Shanks. Shanks not only has the knowledge but he has connections to the world government and we know he is one of the few characters that has all 3 forms of haki. We know advanced observation haki let's the user see into the future, either shanks has the ability to see into the future, or hear me out he eats the toki toki no mi in the middle of the series but its off screen. There are 2 things that made me believe in this theory, he arrives promptly AFTER Whiteboard and Ace die, from the perspective of the minks and Wano natives whitebeard had to be dead in order for them to ally themselves with the strawhats. The next one that's a true mindf*** is that he intentionally went to WB to tell him to have Ace back off on his search for blackbeard, he already knew Ace was Luffys brother, so why would he not jump in and try to track down Ace when he saw whitebeard was not going to step in? My answer to both these questions is Shanks has foreseen what needs to happen in order for Luffy to attain the level he needs to be. The whole premise of Luffy eating his DF is from Shanks just "carelessly" leaving it out. Most of the time we see Shanks he is partying, and all the brief scenes he isn't turn into series defining moments. Would it not be wild if Roger's last task for Shanks was to be the guide for the next Joyboy. I know it's a wild theory but I really believe Shanks is the major player in this series that manipulated a lot of the things we thought were by chance.

Man I'm nearly caught up to the manga and dying to know more. The information we've gotten recently about Joy Boy is really exciting, I hope the story feeds us at least partial answers soon, because I don't know if I will be able to handle the blue balls of reading only one new chapter per week from here on out.
I am currently just hoping that the next arc is a brief exposition arc like the Levely arc to give us some little morsels of what's going on in the world & show pieces of the greater mystery. We'll know soon, but those usually come after the big arcs...
Can say I am satisfied with where we are at now being caught up. But One Piece doesn't hit the same when you're not binging the fuck out of it
Maybe the laugh tale could be that the treasure was meant to be given to everyone when the time comes (and maybe even roger couldn't use it when he found it, as he came early) and roger laughed because there was no point in finding the treasure at all, but the adventure was worth it.

Oda has such a fine way to hold important characters back but is teasering them throughout his story.
Like, Joyboy is named just a few times, we have seen kid Shanks more often than adult Shanks at this point, Gol D Roger has had his flashback now, but before that he was in the intro and in the Rayleigh flashback.
And we havent seen Scopper Gaban outside of a flashback at all but know he exists for a long time.
Im talking about decades here without an appearance for some of these guys :D

All we know is basically kaido thought he was joy boy who isn't a person, but rather a state of being, or a legend it seems. Luffy "dies" to kaido and is confirmed dead by zunesha and momo but then zunesha says wait I hear the drum beat (aka the heart beat) of joy boy. He's back! I have a feeling JoyBoy had a toki toki no mi devil fruit and used it to get into the future. That would explain the ship on fishman island and also Zunesha who is waiting for hundreds of years just to accomplish something connected to JoyBoy. There is a possible chance that if u use the devil fruit for more than a certain ammount of years then the devil fruit dissappears or more likely "leave" from the owner just like mera mera no mi did with ace's death.

Even kaido says in latest manga chapter that he was expecting that luffy would be the one called "joyboy" from history, so kaido knows about joyboy which means Rocks pirates attacked mary geoise(where celestial dragons live) knowing the history of void century and about the will of D and also about joyboy.
Also the timeline which sea kings mentioned also matches perfectly , 10 year to born and another 15 to grow so total 25 years(they were talking about shirahoshi not about joyboy here) if we take that Timeline from wano arc , after returning from laugh tale oden does the naked dance for 5 year thinking orochi will keep his promise and then upon his death taki sends everyone 20 year ahead, in total it is 25 year, and shirahoshi and luffy met on the predicted year, coincidence?? My guess is that shifting fishmen island to surface was the joyboy's promise. luffy helped fishmen by saving the riveria invitation letter from hody Jones and after attending riveria they were Able to do that.
Which all directs to conclusion that luffy is the joyboy

I've always figured that Luffy is a reincarnation of Jot Boy himself. Kind of in the same way as the avatar in Avatar. Its not impossible that it was some extremely strange devil fruit. I mean we now have a time travel fruit and a theorized immortality fruit in Imu. It could be another unique fruit hailing from the time of the void century. And also why there seemed to be a know time frame for Joy Boys return, the joke might have been that the W.G victory meant nothing cause he would return still to topple them.
I think Imu was given immortality by the Op Op fruit. Which gives another reason as to why the government wants it so badly

I believe that shirohoshi and momonosuke are the two sovereigns, two beings that together can control the largest creatures of the sea and land would be absolutely devastating.
Either him or Vivi, but what I'm sure of is the other one is NOT Luffy. If it was Luffy then the sea kings sould have recognized him. But instead they said "strange, it seems like that boy can hear us."
@@air1744 I have a suspicion that Joyboy isn't one of the sovereigns either, he sounds like a catalyst, or perhaps more poetically; a herald for their return, maybe some line of fate the Sea Kings didn't or couldn't take into account.
