The void century is like the history humanity lost in the burning of the library of Alexandria. When I look at it that way One Piece becomes that much more interesting.
I don't think the library of Alexandria is a good example since many of the texts were copied and held in other libraries. Plus we generally know much of human history in Eurasia. A better example could be the Mayan libraries that the Spanish destroyed. In the Americas, only a handful of Native Americans had a writing system. There's the Aztec with a system similar to Egyptian hieroglyphs and Chinese writing and the Mayans with a system similar to ours. The Mayans made a very detailed history of their civilization. Many Mayan temples had writings on the outside which covered entire family lineages of their nobles. They had hundreds of libraries with thousands of books that could describe their rise, fall, and reconstruction of their civilization. Unfortunately the Spanish came and burned down every library and book while forcing the Mayan nobles and scholar to not read their language. Mayan as a spoken language is still more than alive with millions of speakers, but they had completely forgotten the art of reading their writings. It took hundreds of years until modern day scholars finally found a way to read Mayan, but most of our knowledge came from eroded temples and four surviving Mayan books. Same with the Aztec, their written knowledge had been gone as the Spanish burned them down. There's a reason why Europe, Middle East, India, and East Asia have history classes while indigenous Americas are only in anthropology and archeology. Their history before European arrival is a void.
I buy into the fake history theory of the world. That 80% of our history has been forged in order to work in an advantage to those that are in power. I don't belive much in the way of history books or what has been told from the victors side, which is what HIs Story is. A story from the victors perspective, and rarely will you ever know the real truth of events that have unfolded. Even now we have the ability to deepfake video, photoshop images, and CGI things in and out of video, which means half the time we can't believe our present at face value let alone our past. Plus I don't reckon that fake news is anything new, I reckon that people have been using propaganda, fake news, and made up stories in order to control the people ever since we established a spoken language system, and especially even more so once we learnt to write and read. And in the whole I believe the Void century in One Piece is an allegory of how a corrupt world government (the UN) has re-written and erased certain historic events in order to maintain power, which I believe very much runs parallel to our own world. And if we wanna get into even deeper conspiracy; I believe the Celestial Dragons are aliens and are a stand in for our real life Reptillians who run the world from the shadows. As Celestial = Space/Alien, Dragon = Lizard/Reptile. We already know the Moon civilization came down at one point, so aliens are very much real in their universe.

I think Robin must have accepted Rayleigh's offer to know everything about the blank century. Luffy didn't because that was his dream to find the one piece... But for Robin, it's more than that! She has a responsibility as the last survivor of (potentially) the only people in the world who could still read the ancient language! She doesn't even know if she'll make it alive to complete her quest or not.

Honestly, the void century is the most intriguing thing to me about One Piece. I love how it was basically the catalyst for everything we know in the One Piece world and yet we know nothing about it, which adds a great deal of mystique surrounding it!

I think Roger did think that white beard was worthy to find the one piece but deep down he knew he wouldn’t go after it anyways so he offered The location to him anyways as a gesture of kindness . Maybe Roger thought that if white beard found the one piece he could also search for the worthy person to fulfill whatever the one piece says. it’s ironic on his deathbed he found Luffy. Even though it’s Hinted multiple times throughout the series that white beard wanted ace to be the pirate King but after ace died I think he realized it was Luffy.

I'm pretty sure the "voice of all things" as a method of reading poneglyphs was debunked in Oden's flashback, as the reason Roger wanted to borrow Oden from Whitebeard was because he understood that the poneglyphs were important but had no way of actually knowing what they really said, and needed Oden explicitly for that reason.

I bet that will be the final arc - the discovery of the One Piece, a final battle with the Navy, the last Emperor, and the leader of the 5 elder stars, maybe a grand betrayal of some kind, a massive war involving all 3 of the ancient weapons, maybe all fought on an ancient island that suddenly rises out of the seas past the very end of the New World all while every major powerful person is drawn to it to play some sort of role... ....But who knows, Oda is totally unpredictable.

Well i don't think she'll ever find the hidden one in Arabasta. Theres an episode where the strawhats get seperated in the desert, and Luffy ends up getting swallowed up by a sinkhole, and falls into some hidden underground building with a Poneglyph. of course he can't read it or understand what its doing there, and just escapes the hole and re-joins the rest of the gang, later that day.
I knew Nothing about this manga/anime when I started watching 3months ago. I have to say that the mystery of the 100 year void and Robin's storylines are what kept me going.
It really wouldn't be hard to finish one piece in 5 years. The thing js Oda is constantly coming up wjth new ideas (the supernova were a last minute addition for instance). He has Always had the same general idea on how it will end but, like an artist who doesn't know when to put the brush down, he just keeps writing and dragging things out. Think about how incredibly short the Captain Morgan, Buggy, and Kuro sagas were. Now imagine if Alabasta and Dressrosa were that short. It's possible, but the flash backs, exploration, fight scenes, etc would move at an incredibly quick pace. Don Krieg's back story was established in 3 measly panels lol.
@person person i agree. I just feel like Oda sometimes does himself a disservice making the series so incredibly long, it could turn off potential new readera or make old ones give up. There is so much information, side plots, and side characters to keep up with.

Just before that the people who killed him somehow learned or invented about forbidden fruits later known as devil fruits, and so they used that power to kill Joy Boy. And the war started Wano turned into a battlefield and the now known as FIVE ELDERS leaded by IM won the war and Wano was left devastated. With no army to defend Wano some young lads leaded by Ryuma took up arms and defended Wano and found a way to make a barrier around the Wano to prevent further attacks. But Joy Boy was aware of this betrayal, and knew he could not unite the races, so he left the clues and the key for somoeone else to do it. But did he take a risk or was it all a plan of his? . The twist is that Joy Boy was the first devi fruit user and had Toki Toki nomi awakened and he saw the future and was all his plan from the very start.

"One piece" means one piece missing to fulfill the prophecy.. may be refereing to luffy or the entire strawhat pirates and their adventures, as they each have their own pieces to fill.. itmay be referring to the exact set of people who had fulfilled their dreams and now are immune to corruption and will be able to wield the ultimate power, the power to lead without malice...
So everything is sort of set up, there's destiny and will guiding everything. Like we see in Shandora. The will of D. Each has purpose even if it is just passing on their will. And Joyboy had a specific time set. So until a certain point most is guided and the pieces are arranged very carefully.

This is one of favorite topics. We have often times difficulty finding our our own history due to the destruction or attempts to hide/change various aspects. Thinking on an entire period of forgotten history in One Piece is quite interesting.
The answer lies in Arabasta Kingdom. The Arabasta Kingdom's royal family is the only of all 20 Kingdoms, now the World Government refuse in joining them to become the World Noble. Whatever the reason is the Arabasta Kingdom is the only kingdom have connection to the Great Kingdom of the Void Century, like the Fish-Man Island and the Wano Kingdom. And i bet that whatever it is, the Arabasta Kingdom betrayed the Great Kingdom for unknown reasons.
So I think it's quite obvious that the Great Kingdom is connected to the Will of D. I do wonder if the D. are descendents of survivors of the Kingdom or if they merely inherit the will of the Kingdom. Also I think that the Great Kingdom is probably where Devil Fruits originate, hence why they were so powerful.

We don't really know if Joy Boy left the One Piece. We know Roger found something in Laugh Tale that made him understand Joy Boy's story, Roger still could have left something there which, along with what already was there, would be Roger's treasure.

Bruh, I got a personal Theory for the next Strawhat which led me basically to an motive for shanks to fight luffy. Momo will be like a Vivi character, he will be the shogun with support of yamato, who will stay behind as well to support and protect wano and take the role oden would have had -> raising momo, the whole wano country will be allied to Luffy but not really joining the crew, just like alabasta probably would help out the straw hats any given moment. I think it's important for the Strawhats to have forces like that on their side, whole kingdoms so to say that know of the greatness of Luffy, so if the World government were to utilize all the Kingdoms under their flag against the Strawhats there would ultimatly be a balance in forces between the Kingdoms Luffy befriended and the ones that still listen to the government. It increases the strawhats strength by a lot and you don't overshoot the initial 10 nakama that Luffy planned for his Journey in the first(?) episode. So if I'm not mistaken without Luffy he has now 9 nakama, missing one to get the full 10. So my bet would be Carrot who had a lot of screen time, she got the story with pedro, she wants to witness the coming of the new dawn that pedro was waiting for and her best bet to see that will be with the strawhats as we know. She also has a comedic joke with biting crewmates where you have to pet her to calm down. Elbaf i believe will be also a Alabasta case, since strawhats helped out a couple of them over their time on the grand line, there wasn't a single one the story focused on, it's more like whenever there is a giant, the strawhats are directly or indirectly helping them out which would translate too the giants allready kinda trusting the strawhats without even meeting them just from the story's of other giants. So after whatever they gonna do in Elbaf what they wanna do, also them declaring war against the world government a second time, which kinda supressed giants and recruited/used them as well, they will be more willing to be an ally to the strawhats. (Also if Shanks is the God of War and Justice which the Giants talked about, he would be against Luffy taking down the government in fear of what would happen, because the chaos that blackbeard wants could result out of that. Which also gives Shanks a ulterior motive to fight Luffy seriously at all, because he wants to see Luffy succeed, but if he thinks Luffy might not be the one he was actually waiting for because he wants to get rid of the government without a real plan after (which is just Luffys way) and shanks being the one trying to keep the current balance in powers in the One Piece world. Since he knows with the Information of the One Piece Luffy will be able to do so. But i could also see Oda just make Shanks say exactly that, with a grin on his face to show he isn't really serious he just wants to fight luffy -> Epic Clash between Luffy and Shanks, Usopp and his Dad which will resolve Usopps story line being brave enough to stand against another brave warrior of the sea that is acknowledged and so on, Mihawk might be there aswell cuz he is no shichibukai anymore and might decide to hang out with shanks which would also resolve zorros story.)

The void century is like the history humanity lost in the burning of the library of Alexandria. When I look at it that way One Piece becomes that much more interesting.
I don't think the library of Alexandria is a good example since many of the texts were copied and held in other libraries. Plus we generally know much of human history in Eurasia. A better example could be the Mayan libraries that the Spanish destroyed. In the Americas, only a handful of Native Americans had a writing system. There's the Aztec with a system similar to Egyptian hieroglyphs and Chinese writing and the Mayans with a system similar to ours. The Mayans made a very detailed history of their civilization. Many Mayan temples had writings on the outside which covered entire family lineages of their nobles. They had hundreds of libraries with thousands of books that could describe their rise, fall, and reconstruction of their civilization. Unfortunately the Spanish came and burned down every library and book while forcing the Mayan nobles and scholar to not read their language. Mayan as a spoken language is still more than alive with millions of speakers, but they had completely forgotten the art of reading their writings. It took hundreds of years until modern day scholars finally found a way to read Mayan, but most of our knowledge came from eroded temples and four surviving Mayan books. Same with the Aztec, their written knowledge had been gone as the Spanish burned them down. There's a reason why Europe, Middle East, India, and East Asia have history classes while indigenous Americas are only in anthropology and archeology. Their history before European arrival is a void.

I buy into the fake history theory of the world. That 80% of our history has been forged in order to work in an advantage to those that are in power. I don't belive much in the way of history books or what has been told from the victors side, which is what HIs Story is. A story from the victors perspective, and rarely will you ever know the real truth of events that have unfolded. Even now we have the ability to deepfake video, photoshop images, and CGI things in and out of video, which means half the time we can't believe our present at face value let alone our past. Plus I don't reckon that fake news is anything new, I reckon that people have been using propaganda, fake news, and made up stories in order to control the people ever since we established a spoken language system, and especially even more so once we learnt to write and read.
And in the whole I believe the Void century in One Piece is an allegory of how a corrupt world government (the UN) has re-written and erased certain historic events in order to maintain power, which I believe very much runs parallel to our own world.
And if we wanna get into even deeper conspiracy; I believe the Celestial Dragons are aliens and are a stand in for our real life Reptillians who run the world from the shadows. As Celestial = Space/Alien, Dragon = Lizard/Reptile. We already know the Moon civilization came down at one point, so aliens are very much real in their universe.

Honestly, the void century is the most intriguing thing to me about One Piece. I love how it was basically the catalyst for everything we know in the One Piece world and yet we know nothing about it, which adds a great deal of mystique surrounding it!

I'm pretty sure the "voice of all things" as a method of reading poneglyphs was debunked in Oden's flashback, as the reason Roger wanted to borrow Oden from Whitebeard was because he understood that the poneglyphs were important but had no way of actually knowing what they really said, and needed Oden explicitly for that reason.

It really wouldn't be hard to finish one piece in 5 years. The thing js Oda is constantly coming up wjth new ideas (the supernova were a last minute addition for instance). He has Always had the same general idea on how it will end but, like an artist who doesn't know when to put the brush down, he just keeps writing and dragging things out.
Think about how incredibly short the Captain Morgan, Buggy, and Kuro sagas were. Now imagine if Alabasta and Dressrosa were that short. It's possible, but the flash backs, exploration, fight scenes, etc would move at an incredibly quick pace. Don Krieg's back story was established in 3 measly panels lol.
@person person i agree. I just feel like Oda sometimes does himself a disservice making the series so incredibly long, it could turn off potential new readera or make old ones give up. There is so much information, side plots, and side characters to keep up with.

I ended up watching this video twice in a row because it really does show just how much the void century frames the story of One Piece.
Joy boy a "D" living in Wano, the centre of the world at that time also known as "All blue" wanted to unite all races to live together.
He got betrayed and killed.
Just before that the people who killed him somehow learned or invented about forbidden fruits later known as devil fruits, and so they used that power to kill Joy Boy.
And the war started Wano turned into a battlefield and the now known as FIVE ELDERS leaded by IM won the war and Wano was left devastated.
With no army to defend Wano some young lads leaded by Ryuma took up arms and defended Wano and found a way to make a barrier around the Wano to prevent further attacks.
But Joy Boy was aware of this betrayal, and knew he could not unite the races, so he left the clues and the key for somoeone else to do it.
But did he take a risk or was it all a plan of his? .
The twist is that Joy Boy was the first devi fruit user and had Toki Toki nomi awakened and he saw the future and was all his plan from the very start.

"One piece" means one piece missing to fulfill the prophecy.. may be refereing to luffy or the entire strawhat pirates and their adventures, as they each have their own pieces to fill.. itmay be referring to the exact set of people who had fulfilled their dreams and now are immune to corruption and will be able to wield the ultimate power, the power to lead without malice...
Well stated sir. This anime will keep us on the edge of our seats until Oda pulls the curtain up on the truth of the Void Century and beyond.
So everything is sort of set up, there's destiny and will guiding everything. Like we see in Shandora. The will of D. Each has purpose even if it is just passing on their will. And Joyboy had a specific time set. So until a certain point most is guided and the pieces are arranged very carefully.

This is one of favorite topics. We have often times difficulty finding our our own history due to the destruction or attempts to hide/change various aspects. Thinking on an entire period of forgotten history in One Piece is quite interesting.

The answer lies in Arabasta Kingdom. The Arabasta Kingdom's royal family is the only of all 20 Kingdoms, now the World Government refuse in joining them to become the World Noble. Whatever the reason is the Arabasta Kingdom is the only kingdom have connection to the Great Kingdom of the Void Century, like the Fish-Man Island and the Wano Kingdom. And i bet that whatever it is, the Arabasta Kingdom betrayed the Great Kingdom for unknown reasons.
So I think it's quite obvious that the Great Kingdom is connected to the Will of D. I do wonder if the D. are descendents of survivors of the Kingdom or if they merely inherit the will of the Kingdom.

Bruh, I got a personal Theory for the next Strawhat which led me basically to an motive for shanks to fight luffy.
Momo will be like a Vivi character, he will be the shogun with support of yamato, who will stay behind as well to support and protect wano and take the role oden would have had -> raising momo, the whole wano country will be allied to Luffy but not really joining the crew, just like alabasta probably would help out the straw hats any given moment. I think it's important for the Strawhats to have forces like that on their side, whole kingdoms so to say that know of the greatness of Luffy, so if the World government were to utilize all the Kingdoms under their flag against the Strawhats there would ultimatly be a balance in forces between the Kingdoms Luffy befriended and the ones that still listen to the government. It increases the strawhats strength by a lot and you don't overshoot the initial 10 nakama that Luffy planned for his Journey in the first(?) episode. So if I'm not mistaken without Luffy he has now 9 nakama, missing one to get the full 10.
So my bet would be Carrot who had a lot of screen time, she got the story with pedro, she wants to witness the coming of the new dawn that pedro was waiting for and her best bet to see that will be with the strawhats as we know. She also has a comedic joke with biting crewmates where you have to pet her to calm down.
Elbaf i believe will be also a Alabasta case, since strawhats helped out a couple of them over their time on the grand line, there wasn't a single one the story focused on, it's more like whenever there is a giant, the strawhats are directly or indirectly helping them out which would translate too the giants allready kinda trusting the strawhats without even meeting them just from the story's of other giants. So after whatever they gonna do in Elbaf what they wanna do, also them declaring war against the world government a second time, which kinda supressed giants and recruited/used them as well, they will be more willing to be an ally to the strawhats.
(Also if Shanks is the God of War and Justice which the Giants talked about, he would be against Luffy taking down the government in fear of what would happen, because the chaos that blackbeard wants could result out of that. Which also gives Shanks a ulterior motive to fight Luffy seriously at all, because he wants to see Luffy succeed, but if he thinks Luffy might not be the one he was actually waiting for because he wants to get rid of the government without a real plan after (which is just Luffys way) and shanks being the one trying to keep the current balance in powers in the One Piece world. Since he knows with the Information of the One Piece Luffy will be able to do so. But i could also see Oda just make Shanks say exactly that, with a grin on his face to show he isn't really serious he just wants to fight luffy -> Epic Clash between Luffy and Shanks, Usopp and his Dad which will resolve Usopps story line being brave enough to stand against another brave warrior of the sea that is acknowledged and so on, Mihawk might be there aswell cuz he is no shichibukai anymore and might decide to hang out with shanks which would also resolve zorros story.)

@@kintozero3169 Yea I've got another Theorie Wano being the Triller Bark of Post-Timeskip, I'm currently re-reading Triller Bark and I'm 99% convinced I'm right because there are a shit-ton of parallels to draw. So imma guess after the war something associated to either the Rebels or World Government (cuz kuma was associated with both) will be there and join. Smoker maybe? I dunno tho, imma try and find some more clues to get the last 1% i'm still not sure of
