Great thoughts. I picked up this camera used to include the Sony Bluetooth grip for 400 which was an awesome deal. The next generation is coming out and the only reason why I’m keeping this camera is to do a review comparison vs the zv1 M2 and then I’m going to sell it. If you saw my review, I do like the ZV 1F for everything but the results. So the touchscreen , menu , USBC , speed etc. fun stuff. ! I am looking forward to the next generation. The dream would be if they add a larger sensor. 😮
Been a minute since I commented on any videos, and I know the video was mainly about the camera, but the audio throughout was sharp and clear. As for the camera, the biggest things for me would be a too small focal point, battery life and startup time. Great job
I've owned it since it came out and absolutely love the thing. The quality is so much better than any phone and it's still easy to carry around.

When I did my research on this camera, I bought a tripod plate that allows easy access to put in a new battery and I bought several batteries because I heard about the battery life.

I love my ZV1 and still use it. Compact and convenient. However on a full day boat trip in Turkey I filmed all day and definitely needed the extra batteries I purchased as it isn’t great in this regard 👍🏻🇬🇧
That's really the only grip with Sony ZV-1. I solved it by buying a battery grip with tripod from Ulanzi. It's capacity is like 5-6 worth of batteries.

like the video! i like this camera but the price!!!for the money and a little bit more, a ZV-E10 is a better option, but as you said with a discount, it could be mine! what do you think about the rumors for a new ZV-1 M2??? I hope is does come BUT not at the "under 1K" price tag, at that price is a non option for me. I really like the size and features but not the price.
The 1F (the $500 usd option) has a very bad AF system so it is not worth it.

Covered pros and cons nicely! I also like the Rx1007, probably more in that the up to 200mm lens is great for photos and video, but not a vlogging camera…so a different purpose and more expensive. Ona gimbal or a tripod the ZV1 is a great tool that covers most needs very well. I get your point about how a camera inspires photography, where as an iPhone not so much. Both can work though. I’ve had a few iPhone photos look wonderful (as long as not zoomed) and I likely wouldn’t have got them otherwise. Btw: Sony used to make the perfect vlogging tool..the FDR-X3000. Great stab, good colors and audio. I think they had to stop making (and improving) because no one bought their other cameras 😊
That FDR-X3000 is a legend! There are several huge travel TH-camrs who still use it today. Not sure why Sony hasn’t updated that camera.
@@Gemini_Connect ours still works, but suspect it’s days are numbered. It’s BOSS stabilization isn’t quite what it was.

Hi Gemini, I have a sony Zv1 camera, but when I press the movie record button the camera display gets a little bit darker, other times the display is bright. Is this normal to these sony zv1 cameras or any settings to change??
I recently purchased the Sony ZV1F. I need some help with being able to adjust settings and recover audio in my files. My wife vlogged our trip through Switzerland but while replaying it it shows up in fast forward 50fps video. Please let me know if there are tips to recover.
Just bough a ZV-1 on sale for $499. I'm really interested in using the "slow motion" feature.
That would be great for taking to concerts they do not allow a camera with a removable lens this has sound settings I think
I have the Sony zv 1...the zoom is poor ...it doesn't zoom in unless it's zoom out ... nothing changed from normal size
Only thing is I can't download my videos unless I put my SD card into my Samsung galaxy fone ...I can't do anything with Bluetooth on the Sony zv 1

It still worthy even in 2024 ... For family memories and for normal shooting.... Even for beginners
Only problem for me in zoom ... When I see old XR 60 Mark 6 or 7 have more than 200mm ... And wild lens ... Need 18mm or 16mm

I am surprised that since this camera has been out for a time know that no mention of accessories that have and are available IE Camera Grip etc. to remedy access to the battery compartment. Over all all a good review video but as mentioned check out the accessories for this. It's a great little camera for what it is....Also the price on this unit used makes it a great B Roll option.

Theirs selling a used one for 300$ comes with 4 batteries 3 that charge in one dock she bought it 5 months ago

I miss the days when a 3 year old product was still considered a new product :( i'd still like to buy this camera, maybe i'll wait for Black Friday because i'm not in any hurry. I've seen tons of great videos shot with it!

@@fernandomendozaart Haha thanks, but i've changed my mind! :D It's a great camera but it would make much more sense for me to get the Gopro Hero 11/12, i have so many accessories for it already, even a gimbal, and the gimbal isn't compatible with the zv-1 :( Also i researched it a bit more and found out the zv-1 overheats when filming 4k and shuts off after 5 minutes or so, that's not enough for me because i film long walking videos :/

Well done....I'm not happy with the still images taken on my ZV-1..they seem slightly defocused(Is that even a word??). I'm thinking of selling it. Right now I shoot with a Sony A7III, an iPhone 14 Pro Max and the ZV-1
Hmm..that seems strange! The photos taken with mine are tack sharp. Maybe try chatting with support or taking it to a camera repair shop for inspection.
You said the zv1 is an old model already. What's your take on the sony zv1 versus canon sx740hs which is also already old
Honestly, I don’t know much about Canon point and shoots because I’ve never owned or used one. I prefer Sony because the menu and functions are very similar to the other Sony mirrorless cameras that I already own. I did some quick research on that Canon camera, and from what I can gather, it seems like a photography centric camera, whereas the ZV-1 (and the whole ZV line) is geared toward vloggers. So if you want to vlog, the Sony is the better choice IMO.

Is it good for photos too? I just want it for personal use nothing crazy. I’m going on a Europe trip this summer and want to vlog but If I’m buying an expensive camera, I want it for photos too!!

Does ZV1 OG have autofocus in 120, 240, 480 and 960? Or are there framerates without autofocus?
It has AF, but I do notice that it is slower than usual to focus.

Depends on your shooting and export settings, but when at the highest quality, I think it looks good.

I have only used phone cameras. So when i bought zv1 3 years back. I struggle to get good photos with you. All these vlogs shows awesome photos and videos with zv1. For a beginner it is more difficult to take good photo with these cameras. Why hassle so much for something which doesn't last even 2 hours on full charge
On other hand taking half decent photo with phone camera is easier

One HUGE reason people including me, I have 40 years experience with photography, like shooting with a smartphone. And that is it is simple. You take the phone out of your pocket, my iPhone 12 Pro Max turns on automatically, recognizes my face, and up comes the home screen. One button push on the camera icon and I am ready to shoot. 90% of the time the exposure is good enough, it autofocuses, and I just have to do my job and get the composition of what I wanted to take a photo of. The photo gets automatically uploaded to the cloud, where I can do some basic editing and I can then share said photo with anyone in the world with a phone. There is no dedicated camera on the planet that can do that. You complaint about Sony's menu system says it all. They are ALL bad, no matter which manufacturer. Sony is just the worst of the bunch. So why would I go out and buy a dedicated camera for $700 up to 10 grand for a Leica and then spend a week of what life I have left screwing around learning a menu system to set up a camera before I can even take a photo with it? And as soon as I hit the field with it, something isn't set up correctly and I have to stop and screw around with that menu system again, meanwhile the shot is lost. I watch every one of your videos so keep up the good work!!
totally agree! the latest iPhones have really good stabilization and so much faster to snap and shoot cos it'll literally take just 2 taps to record. Also really love the iCloud as well cos I can work on my laptop without spending so much time transfering files from my phone to my computer. you can just save it from the web. not to mention it'll save you from stress when vlogging cmera's memory card got corrupted/card error which will not likely happen if you have your icloud. you can also easily create reel out of your clips. I was thinking of buying a vlogging cam but thank you for reminding me of what my iPhone is capable of that I seem to forget often. I'll stick with what i have now :D
I know a few vloggers who have ditched the Sony and purchased the Gopro Hero 11 instead.
They’re very different style cameras. I like them both, but for different reasons.

I think promoting this camera as a vlogging cam is a big flaw since so many things don't fit the needs of vlogging.
Sony markets this camera as a vlogging camera, and it’s been widely embraced by vloggers for that purpose. It’s not perfect, but IMO no camera is.
@@Gemini_Connect i know it's been used but the most important fact, the lense is no wideview. So basically vlogging is about holding cam straight to your face and talk into it 😅

I was using the DJI Mic. Does it seem like it hasn’t synched properly? I noticed that it seemed slightly off while editing. I’m not sure how to fix it as this is all straight out of camera.

Focal length is terrible for vlogging
If you do handheld vlogging, it’s not the best. However, there are third party adapters that can get you out to about 18mm, and not all vloggers shoot handheld.
