ANC isn't the sole problem. This kind of corruption can happen with any party that chooses to come into power we need to create measures that would ensure that this kind of abuse doesn't happen. And it's not only them that profit from corruption there are members of parliament from other parties that abuse their power as well but the media has made Corruption seem solely synonymous with the ANC which makes people make the assumption that they are the only ones profiting from corruption. I have read your book and have to say that the findings regarding the poorly run power stations, the lack of management and accountability, the poor control of systems and procedures and the absolute 'lazy' nature of this in charge does NOT come as a surprise. The lack of support from the president and the ministers is an indictment on us as South Africans. How much longer does a citizen of this country need to look on and NOT see the incompetence and the corruption with no justice being measured out? 10/10 for all the efforts made and here's hoping that some of your actions are, at the very least, addressed.... I switch between agreeing and disagreeing with the sentiment
      1. He took the job and then claimed he never realized the situation was as bad as it was- naive to the extreme, should exclude him from any serious management position in any industry
      2. If he took the job in order to uncover/ expose the corruption it would appear that he did a poor job of that
      3. I find it hard to believe that in all the time he was at Eskom he could not have exposed more corruption
      4. Why not name the ministers- force them to defend themselves
      5. I often wonder whether he is just a anti fossil fuel activist/ extremist and his agenda is not aligned with fixing Eskom
Having said all that if he suddenly provides real evidence of systemic corruption naming names all of the above fades away and he is indeed a National hero and people should name their children after him

If people want to sabotage or just not care about what's happening with the quality management of the coal, then the cartel simply swap out some of the A-grade coal with rocks and sell that to other people or power stations.

Yeah, you're missing the point slightly, it is genuinely a case of incompetence not inability, the most likely cause those rocks were there to begin with was as you say they're much denser than coal typically, meaning if you're buying something by the ton, and you just fill a truck full of rocks and top it off with coal, well then you make a bunch more money and keep all your coal, that is the level of corruption Eskom is dealing with. The best part is the reason it happens is because someone in parliament decides that they'd rather give the coal budget to a bunch of criminals than actual reputable suppliers, because those criminals are their friends.

No question that race plays a part in the assessment of de Ruyter and what he revealed. The criticism of de Ruyter varies along the racial divide, and obviously also the political divide.
The intelligence de Ruyter collected via the private investigator George Fivaz was meant to provide a platform from which the SAPS and other law enforcement agencies could investigate to obtain the prima facia evidence as well as watertight evidence that can stand up in a court case. However, de Ruyter is unfairly accused by his adversaries (again from the opposite side of the racial and political divide) that the intelligence report does not present the evidence. It was never meant to!
The hostility of the reactions of numerous adversaries, probably all with skeletons in the cupboard, are evidence that de Ruyter drilled into and hit a raw nerve.
The irony that the whistleblower (that is who he, in fact, was) had to flee for his life being the one singled out for priority prosecution for alleged relatively minor transgressions, reflects the decline in the moral fabric of the society and particularly, government circles. The righteous flees from the unrighteous who are seeking his blood.
What a shameful reproach this crooked generation is bringing upon itself.
To talk about de Ruyter's so-called damaged reputation (Yelland) flies in the face of the reputation of the ministers, the Eskom board chairperson, the whole ANC, and other adversaries.
The books will be opened one day, not too distant in the future, when all will appear before the righteous Judge to give account.

Unfortunately, words like accountability aren't synonymous with most African ruling parties. The challenges De Ruyter was faced with were not ordinary as he clearly had to face off with white-collar criminals who were highly resourced and organized, and there is everything that suggests they were "protected" too. His life may have been saved by covid lockdowns, had it not been for that, I strongly feel they may have successfully taken his life. He did well not to take personal security seriously. And why with the urgency that we have load shedding...be forced and cornered to green energy right now. Our move to green energy doesn't have to be subjected to this urgency from the west.... the larger issue again is corruption within our own country. Those are the two issues vital to note.
