I like that the "Insect" in the term "Insect Glaive" is finally getting the emphasis it deserves. As an IG main from 4U onwards, this is making me happy. Mostly used Aerial IG in Gen because that enormous jump was pretty broken (Jhojho no longer is a threat when you can simply jump away from him or towards him and cover about the length of his dragonbreath in a heartbeat) and you could go full "This is Spartaaaaa!" on a Dreadking Rathalos by knocking him out of the air with it, but Brave style is a great option for whenever I get tired of spamming the "Je suis monté" attack all over the place. Which is often.
In that case, I apologize. It's just that the general tone on TH-cam has become quite rough and sometimes I can't tell if a comment was meant as an offense or not. Yeah, that's a nice idea! I also sometimes jump off the highest place in the Primal Forest when I use the Lance's charge run.

I feel like there will be a reason to lvl up power more on the bugs now. Brave style seems like it will bring some diverse bug designs for your glaives.

More stamina and speed means more strikes in a shorter amount of time means more kinsect damage I get my extracts then between combos use my kinsect to do lots of damage and KO monsters. Just because my outlook is different doesn't than your doesn't make it any better or worse. I focused speed and stamina and then power for my balanced gleam beetle on my fatalis overlord glaive. I'm a gold crown and completed the masters test quest.
Looks like the attack bug now gets a chance to shine. So far I mained aerial glaive, using speed bug and toka armor with hyabusa feather, now I' m going to have to make new glaives with power kinsects....

Edit: My thoughts It seems like brave will require you to make a lot more use of the A moves that nobody knows are actually quite useful Forward-A to aproach and have 3 second of poise, Back-A for repositioning and retreating, Ending your infintes early with the second A all of these little things are going to be necessary to maximize damage in brave and I love it, it's giving us another reason to use these moves. FINALLY I ONLY NEED 2 BUGS PER TYPE speed, cut balance cut speed blunt balance blunt never again do I need to make a second glaive
I'm so happy that you can move kinsects. While I'm pretty happy about brave I haven't used ig a lot in 4u or gen just because kinsects are a hassle, especially when they added affinity kinsects, regret my choice of level up and wish I did affinity or extract extend on a glaive.
Haha yes! Attacking with your Kinsect is finally viable! I would always send mine out to deal chip damage to monsters when I couldn't attack with my glaive, but that didn't seem like enough to make a dedicated attack kinsect. But with brace style it makes sense AND I can raise a few different kinsects to swap out whenever I please!
it loses the triple spin in the air, but i think considering that you get your bug to deal extra damage and you dont lose anything else, its a fantastic style for IG
I may return to maining IG in MHXX, this looks fantastic! I logged 1000 hours of IG back in 4U but in Gen I used mostly Bow and SA before transitioning to DB and LBG/HBG. Then I discovered how powerful Striker SnS and Adept LS were... I was having a bit of a crisis determining what weapon to continue maining in MHXX and now the crisis deepens ahahahaha
Man, that is really cool, but I'm not sure I'll be able to give up the ability to fly all over the map with aerial IG. I had so much fun with that in MHGen.
So now Power and Weight Kinsects will ba viable and we`re no longer limited to speed or balaced types, that`s great news. I will stick to Areial style (My main style for the weapon in Generations) but I`ll use Brave intensively and main it as well.

Now that we've seen all(I think) brave weapon styles I think I can start to formulate a vague opinion. (I know we haven't seen everything on them, but we've seen the high lights at least) The great sword, dual blades, gunlance, hammer (I hated it before, but not it has me hyped!) sword and shield, long sword and charge blade look like the ones I'm most hyped about.... Wait, have we seen the switch axe yet? lol I forget, but if I forgot it chances are it didn't catch my attention like the others. But I can say that the brave style looks like one of the best chances to Monster Hunter in a long time. Thanks for tripppling my hype, Gaijin! It was that while "easing new bugs" thing that turned me off from the Glauber outside of special hunts that have their own special insect attached. It is great to hear that at least the act of raising new insects is now just in terms of types instead of weapons now.
Overall, I liked all Brave Style Weapons but if I have to choose the best, it will be: Great Sword LONG SWORD Dual Blade Heavy Bowgun Bow Gunlance CHARGE BLADE Insect Glaive HUNTING HORN
So there's a reason to mark the head and use blunt kinsects now? Will the kinsect auto aim for that area like normal? Also, at 4:39 when the monster is down and you're executing the XXA combo I don't think the kinsect attacked until the A portion. Can you confirm when exactly the kinsect auto attacks?
I haven't touched the demo in a few days, so someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but most of your A attacks (not the connecting A attack in the bread and butter combo) and your aerial X attack will trigger the Kinsect to attack. I don't remember any of the ground X attacks triggering the Kinsect. If the Kinsect is not already out when you trigger an auto attack, it will use that darting attack in front of you before it shoots forward. If the Kinsect is already out, it charges from its current position as if you had pressed R+X (I don't think it does the darting attack, but maybe I haven't been paying enough attention), so it can be a bit hard to aim. The A finisher automatically triggers the fully charged drill charge. Again, I'm running entirely off of my memory so I might not have everything quite right.

Bread and Butter? BREAD AND BUTTER?! NO. That is definitely NOT the Bread and Butter combo. The bread and butter combo has the side swipe. Brave does not.
I want mhxx for the west now....BADLY. Insect glaive is my main, and in generations, I hated it...it felt slower, more restricted and I even put it away for some time to use gunlance. Obviously that will change if mhxx comes for a visit.
I get why Power Kinsects would be could on paper, what with the Power Up ability they get; however, if they keep the trade off, then once you max out Power, it won't be effective to just dump the rest into speed while keeping the minimal Stamina/Weight needed. Since the Kinsect attacks so often it burns through Stamina quickly, more so if you don't keep calling it back to restore a little before the next attack. On the other hand, increasing Weight would be counter productive due to the trade off, so it would take more points to get Weight to a decent point and Speed would suffer for it.
Speed Kinsect trades having higher Speed for lower Power. Because of this you can't maximize the Power, but at least you have that great Affinity boost from white extract. Speed can easily reach a decent enough point and doesn't need to be maxed, so after getting a decent amount of Weight, you can dump the rest into Power for damage. Or you could forgo Weight and have a Kinsect that can't attack as often, but hits quickly with strong attacks.
Stamina/Weight Kinsects(did anyone even use them in X/Gen?) however trade higher Weight for lower Speed. They can easily reach a Stamina limit that would allow for the Kinsect to attack more often and they could have medium high Power and decent Speed, or High Power and really low speed. Regardless they won't be as fast as Speed or even Power types, and they won't hit as hard as Power, but they can attack more often.
Balanced Kinsects might be the best for reaching a good Power, Weight & Speed, but can't excel at any one of them. Personally, Stamina/Weight Kinsects look the best synergy wise, with Balance as the second best. But that's just me.
Arhen Dante Before entering Brave State, your Power Kinsect is just a little weak due to low flying distance. But, you'll go crazy once you get into Brave State!
That wasn't the point. The point is that without sufficient Weight/Stamina the ability for the Kinsect to "go crazy" drops. Without sufficient Power you won't do very impressive damage. And without sufficient Speed getting Extracts normally might be annoying or straight up difficult against monsters that move too much(Blangonga is a good example).
I wouldn't call it the perfect style for IG. I think that title still goes to Aerial since you just get so much mounting done. However, it is the perfect style for those who want to get the most out of the kinsect.
ig is so cool to me. i made it my main (along with switch axe) as soon as i saw those sweet combos. brave and aerial both make excellent styles for this weapon. shame it's hunter arts are kind of trash... if they weren't, alchemy style could be really good as well.
Not sure how to feel... Not having to send out the bug is nice i guess, but you still have to remember to call it back. I'm mostly salty that they removed the upkeep from DB which is actually fun as a main of said weapon, yet kept IG's despite it being one of it's biggest turn off, at least in my opinion.
So now that I've watched your Brave Style video of every weapon... I have mixed feelings on it. I'll admit, the style looks really cool on pretty much every weapon, and it was obviously designed to be stylish, and a lot of these concepts look really great. However, I have concerns on how balanced it actually is. Now granted, this is just a demo, so in the full game, things may turn out very different, but just going off how it looks here, Brave just seems kind of overpowered on most of the weapons. If it indeed as powerful as it looks, I worry about the viability of other styles, particularly Guild Style - which was already in question in MHGen, IMO - as well as in relation to the monsters' abilities. More than ever, I'm getting a Monster Hunter Frontier/Online (I forgot what's what here) vibe and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Maybe I'll come around and come to love what this game is doing to the weapons, but right now, I can't help but be a bit skeptical.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if they lock Brave Style behind High or perhaps even G rank. Even if they don't, there are still a bunch of weapons where I'd prefer to use other styles. Aerial glaive, for example, gets the crazy launching pole vault, which I'd still prefer over Brave for fighting monsters like Nargacuga.
CustodianoftheDice Even if they do that, that's pretty much where most of the game is, I think. I was really hoping that they wouldn't give brave mode any hunting arts, because that would really fix the balance issue.
Of course, there's bound to be exceptions for certain weapons. I doubt Brave will dominate on *every* weapon, but I did say *most*, not all. For several weapons it looks like it'll simply be a nice alternative to the other viable styles that the particular weapon has. But on the flipside, I can see for others how Brave would be near impossible to compete with, like with Greatsword and Gunlance.
Problem with that is that this problem already exists for the Gunner weapons. Frankly, there's barely any reason to use any style that's not Adapt on them. Granted, that's just the Gunner weapons. But with Brave Style coming up, I'm not sure if it'll remain that way.
Too much conflictions with me. If it comes out in the west, do I use HH, the Bowguns, IG, GL, or Prowler? The answer is obviously all of them, but which ones first?! I'll never be able to decide!
Though, for this style which would be better? Power or Speed Kinsect? I know that speed can fly around longer, for less damage, and power can't fly as long, but deals more damage.
Do brave mode sidesteps get more s? And do evasions out of the stance also get more s? Because i almost played adept only and i cant hunt anymore without that sweet evade
High power, preferably decent Weight/Speed Kinsect with the new HA that buffs the Kinsect and the ability for it to actually attack along side you, for increased DPS, instead of just being another attack option.
From what I can see Aerial is still the superior style. The only thing brave has going for it is the side step but honestly mobility was never a real concern for IG users. From what I see in the video the XXA does not send out the kinsect and neither does the vault. These are two of the MOST common moves and honestly 85-90% of its damage. I've never had trouble instantly getting all 3 extracts and honestly this style doesn't even seem to make it easier. This is definitely an alternative to arial because you get to be bug focused with the new HAs and depending on values it might even be better for speed runs then striker (maybe) but it Def isn't a beter style then aerial in terms of all cohesiveness, utility, or benefits to a hunting party.
The draw of Brave is you have increased damage output and a faster evade (and viability of Power Kinsects), whereas Aerial has better overall mobility and easier mounts. The Brave side step isn't mobility of the same type as Aerial's mobility. Aerial lets you cover large distances quickly, but has a slow evade that doesn't give you invincibility until partway through the animation, meaning you have to anticipate enemy attacks when you use the somersault for evasion. Brave lets you reposition quickly and respond more rapidly to the monster's attacks, which is good for monsters with short attack start-ups. The bread and butter XXA combo won't send the Kinsect out, but you can lead with forward+A, which does. Forward+A, A gives you a powerful attack and a free fully charged drill charge that you can easily fit into shorter openings, then get out with the side step or Brave stance. While the vault doesn't send the Kinsect out, the aerial X attack does. I'm probably sticking to Aerial because I prefer the mobility of the forward vault, but Brave will likely replace Adept for the monsters that I typically used Adept for (Rajang).

shadowlord mcgill the prowler does not have any styles, although there are small special things add to each bias to make them more viable, Bombing with adept evade, Protection with adept guard, Gathering and Assisting have 3 boomerangs to throw, Healing can do a follow up healing horn, Charisma has one aerial evade in the evade combo in Palico Rally, same with Fighting but in Fury mode
WHAT!!! Everyone talking about the stupid kinsect (which is gimmicky at best) and no one mentions you can do the A attack straight out of an evade which is HUGE since it's probably the best way to start the infinite combo
Brave style does look fun, epically for IG. However I can't help but feel that's it's blatantly overpowered. There is almost no downside for using brave over the other styles on IG as the only thing it doesn't have is 2 or 3 hunter arts.
モメイ尺人 イ什ノてて I main adept IG and it's pretty dang good. I get times very similar to speed runners (a few minutes slower duh). Just get good at controlling your kinsect and aiming when doing adept dodges. it's powerful in the right hands. my two cents. I use absolute readiness or buff Hunter.

Jordan William Because I had to choose a 3rd weapon and I like how all of the others look more than SnS. Don't take it the wrong way. Brave SnS looks cool but Brave for all of the weapons I didn't list look even cooler imo. The only Brave Styles I actually dislike just off of watching Gaijin's videos are Hammer and Bow.

I want mhxx for the west now....BADLY. Insect glaive is my main, and in generations, I hated it...it felt slower, more restricted and I even put it away for some time to use gunlance. Obviously that will change if mhxx comes for a visit.

I get why Power Kinsects would be could on paper, what with the Power Up ability they get; however, if they keep the trade off, then once you max out Power, it won't be effective to just dump the rest into speed while keeping the minimal Stamina/Weight needed. Since the Kinsect attacks so often it burns through Stamina quickly, more so if you don't keep calling it back to restore a little before the next attack. On the other hand, increasing Weight would be counter productive due to the trade off, so it would take more points to get Weight to a decent point and Speed would suffer for it.
Speed Kinsect trades having higher Speed for lower Power. Because of this you can't maximize the Power, but at least you have that great Affinity boost from white extract. Speed can easily reach a decent enough point and doesn't need to be maxed, so after getting a decent amount of Weight, you can dump the rest into Power for damage. Or you could forgo Weight and have a Kinsect that can't attack as often, but hits quickly with strong attacks.
Stamina/Weight Kinsects(did anyone even use them in X/Gen?) however trade higher Weight for lower Speed. They can easily reach a Stamina limit that would allow for the Kinsect to attack more often and they could have medium high Power and decent Speed, or High Power and really low speed. Regardless they won't be as fast as Speed or even Power types, and they won't hit as hard as Power, but they can attack more often.
Balanced Kinsects might be the best for reaching a good Power, Weight & Speed, but can't excel at any one of them. Personally, Stamina/Weight Kinsects look the best synergy wise, with Balance as the second best. But that's just me.
Arhen Dante Before entering Brave State, your Power Kinsect is just a little weak due to low flying distance. But, you'll go crazy once you get into Brave State!
That wasn't the point. The point is that without sufficient Weight/Stamina the ability for the Kinsect to "go crazy" drops. Without sufficient Power you won't do very impressive damage. And without sufficient Speed getting Extracts normally might be annoying or straight up difficult against monsters that move too much(Blangonga is a good example).
I wouldn't call it the perfect style for IG. I think that title still goes to Aerial since you just get so much mounting done. However, it is the perfect style for those who want to get the most out of the kinsect.

ig is so cool to me. i made it my main (along with switch axe) as soon as i saw those sweet combos. brave and aerial both make excellent styles for this weapon. shame it's hunter arts are kind of trash... if they weren't, alchemy style could be really good as well.

Not sure how to feel... Not having to send out the bug is nice i guess, but you still have to remember to call it back. I'm mostly salty that they removed the upkeep from DB which is actually fun as a main of said weapon, yet kept IG's despite it being one of it's biggest turn off, at least in my opinion.
But they removed it from DB because brave meter and demon meter are almost identical, IG is unique and the main reason to use a kinsect.

So now that I've watched your Brave Style video of every weapon... I have mixed feelings on it. I'll admit, the style looks really cool on pretty much every weapon, and it was obviously designed to be stylish, and a lot of these concepts look really great. However, I have concerns on how balanced it actually is. Now granted, this is just a demo, so in the full game, things may turn out very different, but just going off how it looks here, Brave just seems kind of overpowered on most of the weapons.
If it indeed as powerful as it looks, I worry about the viability of other styles, particularly Guild Style - which was already in question in MHGen, IMO - as well as in relation to the monsters' abilities. More than ever, I'm getting a Monster Hunter Frontier/Online (I forgot what's what here) vibe and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Maybe I'll come around and come to love what this game is doing to the weapons, but right now, I can't help but be a bit skeptical.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if they lock Brave Style behind High or perhaps even G rank. Even if they don't, there are still a bunch of weapons where I'd prefer to use other styles. Aerial glaive, for example, gets the crazy launching pole vault, which I'd still prefer over Brave for fighting monsters like Nargacuga.

I was really hoping that they wouldn't give brave mode any hunting arts, because that would really fix the balance issue.
Of course, there's bound to be exceptions for certain weapons. I doubt Brave will dominate on *every* weapon, but I did say *most*, not all. For several weapons it looks like it'll simply be a nice alternative to the other viable styles that the particular weapon has. But on the flipside, I can see for others how Brave would be near impossible to compete with, like with Greatsword and Gunlance.

Problem with that is that this problem already exists for the Gunner weapons. Frankly, there's barely any reason to use any style that's not Adapt on them.
Granted, that's just the Gunner weapons. But with Brave Style coming up, I'm not sure if it'll remain that way.
Too much conflictions with me. If it comes out in the west, do I use HH, the Bowguns, IG, GL, or Prowler? The answer is obviously all of them, but which ones first?! I'll never be able to decide!
Though, for this style which would be better? Power or Speed Kinsect? I know that speed can fly around longer, for less damage, and power can't fly as long, but deals more damage.
If the crit meta's still strong in XX, then it's probably going to be a Speed 1 with some power investment.

High power, preferably decent Weight/Speed Kinsect with the new HA that buffs the Kinsect and the ability for it to actually attack along side you, for increased DPS, instead of just being another attack option.

From what I can see Aerial is still the superior style. The only thing brave has going for it is the side step but honestly mobility was never a real concern for IG users. From what I see in the video the XXA does not send out the kinsect and neither does the vault. These are two of the MOST common moves and honestly 85-90% of its damage. I've never had trouble instantly getting all 3 extracts and honestly this style doesn't even seem to make it easier. This is definitely an alternative to arial because you get to be bug focused with the new HAs and depending on values it might even be better for speed runs then striker (maybe) but it Def isn't a beter style then aerial in terms of all cohesiveness, utility, or benefits to a hunting party.
The draw of Brave is you have increased damage output and a faster evade (and viability of Power Kinsects), whereas Aerial has better overall mobility and easier mounts. The Brave side step isn't mobility of the same type as Aerial's mobility. Aerial lets you cover large distances quickly, but has a slow evade that doesn't give you invincibility until partway through the animation, meaning you have to anticipate enemy attacks when you use the somersault for evasion. Brave lets you reposition quickly and respond more rapidly to the monster's attacks, which is good for monsters with short attack start-ups.
The bread and butter XXA combo won't send the Kinsect out, but you can lead with forward+A, which does. Forward+A, A gives you a powerful attack and a free fully charged drill charge that you can easily fit into shorter openings, then get out with the side step or Brave stance. While the vault doesn't send the Kinsect out, the aerial X attack does.
I'm probably sticking to Aerial because I prefer the mobility of the forward vault, but Brave will likely replace Adept for the monsters that I typically used Adept for (Rajang).

Coe Vander doesn't that seem a bit out of place? Every other symbol on the logo is a monster: The four flagships, Rocketbird, and Diablos 2.0.
It's also possible (and very likely in my opinion) that the Wycademy found and activated the EDW. So maybe the symbol could represent both of them.

shadowlord mcgill the prowler does not have any styles, although there are small special things add to each bias to make them more viable, Bombing with adept evade, Protection with adept guard, Gathering and Assisting have 3 boomerangs to throw, Healing can do a follow up healing horn, Charisma has one aerial evade in the evade combo in Palico Rally, same with Fighting but in Fury mode

WHAT!!! Everyone talking about the stupid kinsect (which is gimmicky at best) and no one mentions you can do the A attack straight out of an evade which is HUGE since it's probably the best way to start the infinite combo

Brave style does look fun, epically for IG. However I can't help but feel that's it's blatantly overpowered. There is almost no downside for using brave over the other styles on IG as the only thing it doesn't have is 2 or 3 hunter arts.
I mean it only adds the side step your auto kinsect
モメイ尺人 イ什ノてて I main adept IG and it's pretty dang good. I get times very similar to speed runners (a few minutes slower duh). Just get good at controlling your kinsect and aiming when doing adept dodges. it's powerful in the right hands. my two cents. I use absolute readiness or buff Hunter.

Jordan William Because I had to choose a 3rd weapon and I like how all of the others look more than SnS. Don't take it the wrong way. Brave SnS looks cool but Brave for all of the weapons I didn't list look even cooler imo.
The only Brave Styles I actually dislike just off of watching Gaijin's videos are Hammer and Bow.
