That was pleasent surprise for me, as for native speaker of Russian, when I looked on list of voice actors for RE 4 Remake! Well done! So, Russian characters voices are the best. I also liked Ada's voices in Italian, French and German.
Chinese VA is renowned voice actress Huang Ying (黄莺). She's voiced a bunch of Blizzard game characters like Sarah Kerrigan, Sylvanas Windrunner, Li Ming too.
In my opinion it's difficult since they are not using the exact same sentences for the same meaning, or better said, you can't use the same sentence formation for every language. For example it's a common motto to say: "chill out" if you want to relax or if you request for someone to relax or calm down - but in german language for example it would mean "kühl raus" or "kühl aus". This would mean something like if you request and object or alike to cool down or cooling something out of an object- therefore it doesn't make sense.
So just play the game in any other language other than English and Ada will sound perfectly fine. This just further proves the internet was not exaggerating the criticism in how bad the voice acting is in the English version
What annoys me personally is how many people defend her out of pity or refuse to admit the performance was poor just so they don't get lumped in with the harassers. I mean, just because she got bullied doesn't magically make her performance better and there's a difference between criticism and actual harassment.
the witcher 3 and cyberpunk already use this feature. Though it is used through jali and not motion capture, as that would require each VA to record their face capture in each language and that is just not an option. IMO it looks really good and works as well as it can. One of the most memorable scenes for me was watching priscila sing in the witcher 3 and seeing the lips move accordingly to each language
Ada's dub in Russian is the reason I'm playing this game in Russian dub instead of American. And I'm not even Russian although I can understand some words and sentences cause I had Russian in school.

1:51 Even though I know *very little* Japanese, I noticed that JP Leon actually says something akin to: "Knives are faster in Close Combat. Remember that." Compared to the original EN Leon that says: "Try using knives next time. Better for close encounters.
Funny how all others VA has personality in it instead of sounding like..well you know. And people actually said oh capcom is going for the “serious boring agent vibe” , then why not be consistent and have all of the Ada’s voice to become monotone or some shit
I personally prefer a lower pitched voice for Ada performed by a middle aged actress or older, but for the Remake design a more higher pitched voice fits well. She still has to have that warmth to her voice as she is known as a femme fatale characters which most of the time use a lower pitched voice. Overall these are way better than Lily Gao's performance.
Well the sound of the voice was indeed completely different, but it still fits her and the implementation is also good. It's always weird if a voice actor changes for a known character, but that's what should be importand after all.
This goes to show that this belief that Capcom purposefully made Ada sound like a "flat and bored mercenary" is a lie when every other country is attempting to portray Ada's charisma and tone similarly whereas Lily Gao in English is the only outlier. Clearly they all must have gotten similar direction via Capcom but Lily was the one who couldn't deliver. She's literally trying sound flirty with the "Not a bad move, very smooth" line but it comes off as cringey and awkward instead. At least all the other countries actually went out to try to get a good or experienced VA instead of a film actor with no experience. It's not about her sounding "seductive" because her voice was fine in RE2 Remake where her tone was already more serious but still had character. Also, Ada isn't even a mercenary, she's a spy! James Bond is a spy, no one expects him to sound bored. Even so, even Hunk as a mercenary doesn't sound as bored/flat as her.
I think it's combination of Capcom not wanting to hire union VAs in the US anymore and some marketing genius that thought using godawful Netflix film's Ada would increase hype somehow.
@@MoreEvilThanYahweh I think definitely avoiding Union VAs and also wanting to race match, bc of the 2023 woke crowd that didn't exist like that when Jolene Andersen was cast for RE2R in 2015/2016. Lily Gao said they called her agent after they "liked" her 30 after-credit scene of a mischaracterized Ada (which was also flat) and have her audition. So this was after the movie came out and majority of fans already said it was trash. If Capcom USA thought being associated with that terrible film would help sell their games, then they are just straight up IDIOTS. Even worse, it means they didn't even bother to hold fair open auditions for actual Asian VAs to come and instead got a film actor with no VA experience for cheap bc they are THAT lazy. It was already obvious from all the reused actors from RE7 & RE3R in RE8, and they didn't even bother to bring back Chris Redfield's VA from RE7, who sounds way more like Chris, bc they already had Jeff Schine on hand after finishing RE3R.
Actually, James Bond actors DID deliberately make him sound "bored". It's actually described as laconic. And IMO Lily did a great job at that. It's the kind of subtlety that goes over the head of so many so-called 'fans', who seem to have wanted a simple reprise of what they were already used to.
@@MinezaFender Yet no one ever describes James Bond as "bored" bc the actors can act. It's not even that she makes Ada sound blase, but that Lily herself sounds bored in the booth and while mocapping. I've seen Gao in other stuff and IMO she lacks range, she couldn't even reprise old Ada if she wanted to. Jolene had a serious take on Ada in RE2R than previous Adas and there was no issue because she's undeniably a good VA. Lily's only ever decent when playing a "stern" character and her facial expressions in live action save a lot of her delivery, which doesn't translate as well to video games. Her post credit scene in WTRC where she introduces herself as Ada was so uncharismatic, I wouldn't even put it in the same room as James Bond introducing himself. Regardless, Ada in THIS is particular scene is literally trying to flirt, doubt she was directed to sound bored.
@@FunkayJunk I find it idiotic that people who defend Gao's performance say that "It fits her character" and all I have to say to that is No! Like I understand she is playing a character who is casting aside all her feelings and suppressing her humanity but that doesn't excuse her poor line deliveries.
I genuinely love the fact most of these voice actresses did their best to actually sound like what Ada should be. Especially the French and Russian ones. We should never take talent for granted. Gao's performance meanwhile is really not it, and her "take" on the character she tried justifying on social media is not what the fans want. Ada may be a spy who has her own interests, but she doesn't act rude to Leon 24/7 and is not supposed to sound so cold.
Gao doesn't give a **** what the fans want, it should have been clear after her first public statement. The bigger question is how in the hell the director of the game cleared that performance.
Cry about it some more. Go vent your incel hostility elsewhere. Chin up little troopers, Maybe someday you’ll get to talk to a real woman and finally say goodbye to your collection of crispy socks.
Well THIS fan thought Lily did a fine job, and helped evolve Ada evolve into a more subtle, complex and likeable character. Jolene Anderson was also pretty good in RE2, but all the predecessors were whiney white Americans and were certainly "not it". But I respect your personal taste.

@@KamichamaTechstarify learning already, thanks! 😂
I actually learned english from video games
The French version is great.
English : Leon VA
Japan : Both VA
Chinese (Mandarin) : Both VA
Ada Chinese VA, I love it's voice, it's totally suits Ada's vibe !
True
she also did Sylvanas and Sarah Kerrigan in Chinese.
@@madwilliejackson7523That's why she sounded so familiar!
I disagree abt the japanese one. Leon's voice is terrible af
I wonder how many more years before the programmers can add lip movements for each language in games. 🤔. I would love to see that eventually.
If i remember correctly, source 1 games have auto lipsync feature, dont really know 'bout source 2 having this feature or not
the witcher 3 and cyberpunk already use this feature.

And I'm not even Russian although I can understand some words and sentences cause I had Russian in school.
cool, that you love the language of terrorists.
Damn russian sounds nice
I know this is about Ada but--Oh shit, Sephiroth's Japanese VA also plays Leon. Just took me off guard.
His also voiced as Kira Yoshikage from JJBA
While others are freaking out about Ada, Iam over here enjoying Leon's voice~
@@Love-Sensibility me too. I love Leon's voice in other languages. But japanese is NAY.... bcs his voice doesn't match him
Japanese dub leon is bad for me tbh
the chinese one is so good, for leon as well
Great! Now I can speak so many languages.
Dude this Grey forget the PORTUGUES audio , he did this mistake on Jack Krauser video
All but the English one are great.
I've got nothing against the English VA for Ada, but it's undeniable that she didn't do a good job.
All the others are *_soooooo smooth and sexy.~_*
Ada Russian Va is hella fine , remiinds her in re4 og
Oh god German and Russian Ada Wong has awaken something in me, Leon speaking German and French is so good too, idk why but i feel it realy matches his face (maybe it's because his European side)
Russian is the top
I love hearing Leon's name in French. ❤️❤️❤️
I feel sorry for you
Right very sorry.... Fortunately, the va are alright
*L É O N*
Russian suits her perfectly since she could have been a stereotypical sexy Russian agent
Also, the German Ada, holy smokes, she sounds just as serious as she seems sassy 👀✨️
Japanese voice sounds so fine

I think the Italian Ada is also very good (well at least I liked it)
I love the german one so much, the german dub is so good in general
Agree
German not so much
Bro literally all the voices put more effort and emotion than the english one. Nothing against Lily Gao but I just dont think she was fit for the job
There is "interesting" in the most part of languages, but on Russian the role of "interesing" replaced by word "забавно", which means " funny ". yeah, kinda funny
russian Aba flirting with Leon)))
Russian translation is literally awful and misleading.
@@andrewefimako5758 its not awful,,,yes, there are some mistakes which don't bring any sense, but admit that russians wanted to bring old Ada back,, and that line they made beautifully
I've been through 6 -7 playthroughs, and i gotta said i enjoyed the Chinese dub the most, sometimes the lines were funnily written, and the VAs really did the good job.
I'm from Malaysia, my first playthrough was Eng, second playthrough was Jap, third until sixth playthrough were chinese dub, and I'm still not getting bored with Chinese dub😂

every time I was questioning where leon was putting his knife
1:51 Even though I know *very little* Japanese, I noticed that JP Leon actually says something akin to:
"Knives are faster in Close Combat. Remember that."
Compared to the original EN Leon that says:
"Try using knives next time. Better for close encounters.
Funny how all others VA has personality in it instead of sounding like..well you know. And people actually said oh capcom is going for the “serious boring agent vibe” , then why not be consistent and have all of the Ada’s voice to become monotone or some shit
God, there really is such a brilliant art to dubbing something well. The japanese one matched the mouth movement so well!
Китайский, русский и французский - это мой топ)
Lol did Ada just give us an ara 🤣?
I personally prefer a lower pitched voice for Ada performed by a middle aged actress or older, but for the Remake design a more higher pitched voice fits well. She still has to have that warmth to her voice as she is known as a femme fatale characters which most of the time use a lower pitched voice. Overall these are way better than Lily Gao's performance.
the Japan dub matches the lip movement because it's obviously a Japanese game lol
Yes it is plus for me Japanese dub sounds the best just like in anime
Russian is always good.
owhhh RUSSIAN !!!
Ada Eng voice sounded a bit foreign to me at first but it starts to grow on me. It's not that bad.
Well the sound of the voice was indeed completely different, but it still fits her and the implementation is also good.
It's always weird if a voice actor changes for a known character, but that's what should be importand after all.
@@KamichamaTechstarify yeah i like the English voice it feel like ada is in her zone like giving some serious but bossy vines.
Still sounds like mediocre trash to me.
can't grow mine with en Ada voice 😔
The accent isn't the problem, the wooden delivery is
This goes to show that this belief that Capcom purposefully made Ada sound like a "flat and bored mercenary" is a lie when every other country is attempting to portray Ada's charisma and tone similarly whereas Lily Gao in English is the only outlier.
FUN FACT if you play Genshin the CN CV Ada is Arlecchino, and the one for Leon is Wriothsley's and I AM NOT SURPRISED.
Такое чувство что со времён Sacred немецкой озвучкой занимается один чел
They all understood the assignment (except the english version)
Chinese version is excellent. Chinese localization has become a thing recently and we are getting more and more high quality content.
THE JAPANESE ONE GODDAMN. WHEN SHE SAY "ara leon.." IM ON MY KNEES MA'AM
They all sound better & more attractive then the English version
I genuinely love the fact most of these voice actresses did their best to actually sound like what Ada should be. Especially the French and Russian ones. We should never take talent for granted. Gao's performance meanwhile is really not it, and her "take" on the character she tried justifying on social media is not what the fans want. Ada may be a spy who has her own interests, but she doesn't act rude to Leon 24/7 and is not supposed to sound so cold.
Gao doesn't give a **** what the fans want, it should have been clear after her first public statement. The bigger question is how in the hell the director of the game cleared that performance.
She said that to cover up her terrible performance since she knows she was only hired to placate the woke mob.
Et bah, il y a déjà des doublages dans d'autres langues ? Trop cool
