Voces8 has nearly a hundred videos on TH-cam, each one better than the last. Today (July 2023) only three of the singers in this video are still with the group, but the replacement singers are at least as good. I just tee up a TH-cam mix and listen to them for an hour or so--great way to spend your day.
I’ve sung this before with the choir I am in. It is one of my favourite versions. There are many, many versions of this because it is part of the Latin Catholic Mass so many composers have written scores. I’ve also been listening to Voces8 for a number of years. You should check out more.
This was good! The venue/acoustics were perfect for their sound. But like you, I've never heard of this group before and have never heard this version of Ave Maria. It's definitely different from any other version I've ever heard. I would not have recognized it at all. It will be interesting to hear more of their music.
*CHILLS* I don't know what you would call that highest Soprano, but it's hard to believe the human voice can sound like that. Such an amazing, talented group. Voces is Spanish for voices. Thanks for sharing it with us, Lyle. ❤❤❤

Indeed. One of the male altos, the leader of the group, used to sing with them. This is one of the premier vocal ensembles in the world folks!

They are a great group, they also do a great version of "May it Be" and "Sleep" which are some of my favorites.
Voces8 said in an interview that they chose the Latin word for 'voices' for the name of the group, with an 8 appended for the number of singers.
Under the stars is the song that got me into them. I’d recommend it.
