I'm a highschooler who got lucky enough to sing tenor 1 on this song. I've tried all of the parts of the song, and I'm obsessed. Every time I hear this song, I get chills down my back. Its heavenly, and I don't think any words other than divine could describe it.
This song has so much meaning to me. I sang tenor in high school to this song. That was many years ago. To hear this now brings tears to my eyes. There's so much meaning. I hope that anyone listening feels even a little of what I feel when I hear this. So beautiful.
Finally, just pure music; no vibrato ! -- As if one dying of thirst, crawling past one warm muddy pool after another, .. .. now finally, finally, a spring flowing clear, cool, & deep !
I'm in the sun on a 75⁰ day and my whole body has chills. The word "beautiful" should be reserved for something like this. The intonation is unreal. Oh, wow.
I've sung this with the Fordham University Concert Choir & the 8 part harmony (male & female voices) is absolutely stunning. It's also longer. I'm a little disappointed they didn't do the other verses before moving into the "Santa Maria." Such gorgeous voices- would have loved more.
I sang an all-male version of this in college, Portland State University, and it gave me chills then, and it does now. Then, years later, many of us guys came back together to sing it for one of our fellow chorister's wedding. It was magical! I agree that I am sad this amazing group didn't perform the entire piece.
The piece holds a special place in my heart as one of the most challenging and satisfying I’ve ever had the pleasure of performing. It is sublime. Thank you for sharing this. We all need a little more beauty and peace in the world right now. Your contribution continues to be noticed.
Very true it's very special but super difficult to perform I did with my high level high school choir in key west Florida. I remember that moment like it was yesterday.
We sang this my senior year of high school 23 years ago and I still think it’s one of the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever heard. I was so happy to find it on TH-cam tonight. Wonderful job!
Wow, I just find it too !! I sang it in middle school in France years ago and recently been looking for it but didn’t remember the composer’s name haha
I sang this song a few years ago with my choir and I fell in love with this song. It’s so beautiful, I’d want to sing it again. This is a really beautiful cover too! thankyou for this, i’ve been missing this song
I fully agree! My daughter wants to do this before she leaves her church in Estes Park! Our Cathedral of the Assumption choir in Louisville, KY should do it!
I'm from South Africa and sang this 24 years ago in the St Karl Kirche in Vienna on our European tour. This is absolutely breathtaking and bringing back so many, many beautiful memories!
Idem en anglais : Sing together with as much complicity, gentleness and accuracy this magnificent composition of Biebl ... what others ask! Congratulations to you.
Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariae (The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary), Et concepit de Spiritu Sancto (And she conceived of the Holy Spirit). Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
As Blake has doubtless mentioned, this work long ago became sort of Chanticleer's "alma mater", and they performed it at nearly every concert, and once had the honor of performing it before Franz Biebl himself. But I must confess, I actually prefer your rendition! The sopranos are absolutely ethereal!
That Amen at the end *chef's kiss* My biggest criticism when ensemble's perform this tends to be that the stay a tempo all the way through with no pauses, which can make it feel like they're actually rushing because of how drawn out the Amen's are. VOCES8 perfectly interprets that it needs to be savored. The exhalation is exaltation, a firm affirmation. "So be it" (You don'y have to be religious to get it though)
Absolutely exquisite singing of a magnificent choral work! One of my favorites I have sung in one of our community choirs to which I belong. Thank you VOCES8. Incredible!!

That is the best choice you can make for your soul. Our freedom is in turning to God and loving Him as living members of His One visible Church. WELCOME! ⚘️
Yup, my church had this music so beautiful. Now they won’t let us sing because of COVID. I remember singing in the choir it’s such a beautiful song. I’m afraid traditional things like this are going extinct.

Agree 100%
Ditto. I've sung this several times (2nd Bass) and I get goose pimples every time I hear it.
❤😢❤
Alto 2 here hehe, it was such a great experience for me too. Cheers~
wait i’m the same

We need this song now more than ever. God please stop the war.
The girl in the center got very little screen time and shes the angelic voice that sends this praise straight to God.
One of the most sublime pieces in the Western repertoire, sung by one of the best ensembles today.
this is how I wish to offer our lady daily 153 roses BEST ave maria I've ever heard Thank you so much
That "Amen" part gets me everytime.
This must be what Heaven sounds like!
Très belle interprétation ! La musique nous donne parfois un avant goût du paradis... Merci !
1:39 mmm yeah fry my speakers w how well in tune you are!
It. Is. SO. In. Tune.
Until I heard this I didn’t know that you could be more or less in tune. This is more.
After hearing this, I'm absolutely convinced that Heaven exists. It's impossible for this music to come from other place than that.
You’re completely right
Ave Maria! May Our Blessed Mother Mary, Queen of Heaven touch the heart of every soul listening 🌹🙏🏼
i literally broke down in tears this is so beautiful
DUDE THE HIGH B HARMONIC AT THE END SENT ME OH MY GOODNESS this is amazing
Listening to this once again on the Solemnity of the Annunciation. “Et Verbum caro factum est, et habitavit in nobis.”
I feel compelled to admit, the sheer elegance of this piece brought the sting of tears to my eyes. So delicate and yet so solid.
Same here. This is why I love music.
Finally, just pure music; no vibrato ! -- As if one dying of thirst, crawling past one warm muddy pool after another, .. .. now finally, finally, a spring flowing clear, cool, & deep !
Lol, your problem with vibrato sounds like a you problem though! Why is music without vibrato more "pure"?
I'm in the sun on a 75⁰ day and my whole body has chills. The word "beautiful" should be reserved for something like this. The intonation is unreal. Oh, wow.
This is like listening to angels sing. Wow! SO beautiful. Your phrasing is exquisite. Thank you for sharing; I keep coming back to this video.
Honored to have sang this (bass 2) in college

totally agree. One more, or even two more verses... :D

This is the best version of this piece I’ve heard!!
Sehr schön! Ich hoffe sehr, dass man Euch bald wieder live hören kann!
I sang this with my middle school chamber and even 5 years later, it remains one of my very favorite pieces. Beautifully done!
Man, I wish you guys did the longer version. The build up was my favorite part about this song
The overtones on the last chord are angelic!!! I have been looking for this version of Ave Maria since I sang it in High school in 1995! Thank you!
I sang this song a few years ago with my choir and I fell in love with this song. It’s so beautiful, I’d want to sing it again. This is a really beautiful cover too! thankyou for this, i’ve been missing this song

We Sing this piece every Christmas with our choir. Absolutely Love it
You should sing it every day ( by yourself ) and feel your soul change ☺️🌹🙏
I sang this only yesterday. It's a beautiful rendition. It was great to see Voces8 live in May!
astonishingly beautiful. I had to stop myself from tearing up inside

Chanter ensemble avec autant de complicité, de douceur et de justesse cette magnifique composition de Biebl....que demander d'autres ! Bravo à vous.
Splendid. Just starting to learn this today

So beautiful in that tempo!
Stunning vocals 💯👌

I love my Catholic faith. So happy you chose to become a Catholic. Your life will be so blessed and joyful. God bless you.
Congratulations!! Praying for you 🌹 and may Our Lady protect and guide you to her Son
You don’t need to. You could just join a choir.

I love when this song comes up on Pandora.

Oh my gosh
I also listen to this song from others, but it was a little bit different. Is this song origin from Voces 8?
Bring it to Heaven
I wish there were a church within driving distance of me that had this kind of music.
Yup, my church had this music so beautiful. Now they won’t let us sing because of COVID. I remember singing in the choir it’s such a beautiful song. I’m afraid traditional things like this are going extinct.
Is Katie no longer with the group or did she simply have a substitute due to illness or schedule conflicts?
This is actually an older recording! I believe this was made before Katie joined the group.
💗💗💗💗
I'm not crying, you are crying
😭♥️
Who's the second countertenor?
Chris Wardle, now Director of External Relations of VOCES8

Try this one:
We want :“MISERERE MEI”

Oh man. So sorry about that 🥺❤️
