Kind of related to TC is a more low tech approach. In Takeaway tec or coke bottle tec you place the cactus seeds in a closed container with soil, preferably sterilised to some degree. The small cacti can handle the high humidity just fine, I've had plenty that shared the soil with algae. For propagating cactus plants grafting is great. All cacti can be grafted to each other. It's great fun and really rewarding. Combining both can yield big cacti in a relatively short time.
Thanks for your videos. I'm going to give tissue culture a try for the first time. Just a heads up, "sterilize" is different than "sanitize". Sterilize uses heat, sanitize uses chemicals. So technically you're sanitizing the nodes when you put them in the bleach solution, not sterilizing them. But whatever no big deal.
Amazing video. It’s definitely gonna be useful. I actually managed to find a source for the chemicals and plant hormones needed for TC. Seed banks here in Europe release their catalogs of seeds around fall, early winter, so it’s a project for later in the year. I’m mostly interested in germinating seeds using TC methods. Cactus seeds are super fussy when they’re young and need constant humidity. I get so many losses to algae and fungi.
The way you draw the seeds up into the pipette, I do the same thing with fungal spores for germination on PDA media. It's wild how similar the two practices are.
@@EddieTheH I think that joke flew a mile over your head. A growth on a cactus and a mammalian breast are markedly different things. Unless you are growing spines out of your nipples I guess.
I'll be waiting for Pseudolithus! But maybe you should try something (somewhat) easier and more interesting like a Welwitschia mirabilis? or maybe a Gasteria Armstrongii variegated :D
can you tell me about tissue culture anubias nana petite what dosage of medium is needed i am trying many times but all failed, the plant does not sprout and grow with: Ms: 2.4g Kinetine: 0.15g Agar: 4g sugar: 15g look forward to your feedback
How about using a sterilized dilute solution of sodium thiosulfate as a rinse after the bleach bath? That should neutralize the chlorine/stop bleach activity and minimize the number of rinsing needed. So something like bleach bath, then sodium thiosulfate rinse, and then a water rinse.
The biotilt is interesting to me, but the entire system is so basic and unpolished as to make me think I should just build it myself (that is, assuming it's pretty expensive to buy from PCT). It also looks like it needs a much better solution for locking in the biocouplers. How do you examine the state of a coupler in the middle of a rack, surrounded by other couplers? Lean into the biotilt and peak into the jar from above? I wonder if early detection of issues would be made more difficult that it should be. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding how it works too, but it looks like you need to take out an entire row of couplers at a time to inspect them individually. In any case, I'm looking forward to your video about it!
the merch is seriously cool
I've been watching your videos ever since I found your channel and I love your setup and what I'm learning from you ❤

That shirt is super dope!
You're so beautiful and smart omg. You even love science like I do and plants! I'm in love 😂❤
Hey, garden guru! I love learning with you. Haha, you're mildly funny like the areoles. Thanks for the perfect expression to characterize you!😂😂😛😛🪴🪴
Rad merch gonna grab me one of those shirts! Great content, love you're working with cacti now!

I got that shirt.
Will be arriving soon.
Sniper Wolf of the plant world, we are all grateful for you and your beautiful information 🥺
Great video Laur! Would you ever consider trying tc techniques on more woody plants? It’d be cool to attempt on fruit trees or something
AreolES, not to be confused with AreolAS, which are also live-giving protrusions but slightly different.
Nope. They're just a spelling variation on the same word.

@@maxritter7868 No, the joke doesn't work because the spellings are essentially interchangeable, both apply to both things.
Love this channel because it seems a bit crazy and I’ll never do it.
Wow! Usually i'm cloning but now i have to try this out...thanks for sharing

great vids! have you ever considered doing in-person workshops at some of the plant expos and/or other events?
you are great. do you have protocol for palm tree tissue culture?
New sub awesome work
Can you buy already prepped the tissue culture media in jars so that you can try this without buying all the ingredients and equipment?
I had to get one of the new shirts!! They’re 🔥 🔥 🔥!!
Would you try platycerium ? We are in Asia and there is a huge surge of platycerium trend. Special platycerium selling for over 200K
Areoles is a French plural of the word Areole and it is pronounced ah-ray-OHL for both singular and plural, the 's' is mute.

Thanks for these useful videos, can you include Arabic in the translation for better understanding?
this is a supportive youtube comment
😍😍😍
WoW!!! So pretty girl 😊😊😊
All hail the algorithm.
Aeroles, as in the bird orioles lol

I thought you were making a joke calling it a pip-ette. It's pronounced pipe-ette and pie-petting
People in the UK pronounce it as pi pet. So she isn't wrong.
