I really enjoyed you showing how this yarn/wool works up 😊
Any chance you would be able to do a video showing us how other types of wool/yarn works up and how it handles being in the washer only then washer and dryer..? Like for example lionbrand mandala, caron cakes
Please don’t ever think that I don’t appreciate what you do, because I extremely appreciate everything that you do and I mean everything 💕

Thank you for the review of the new yarns from Michael’s.
Thank you for showing the red & white yarn and how the added flecks of fuzzy color yarn flake off easily. And for showing how it worked up as you were trying different stitches with it. I wouldn’t want to make anything with it if the fuzzy flecks are just going to get hung up and come loose while making something.
    Your conspiracy theory LOL..
I think you are spot on 😂

I love that Crystal makes sure to state that these are her opinions and for everyone else to try for themselves. I bought this yarn a week ago. I worked it up with my Furls resin hook and LOVED it. I had no problems whatsoever. No hang ups at all. It glides smoothly. Sometimes I think changing hooks may do the tricks. The colorway I worked up was Autumn Sunset. 😊❤

There probably is one huge distribution center that sends it out to all the stores and they slap their labels on it. And there probably is separating large places in turkey that make the different ones and it goes all to the same distribution center who sends it out to all the companies.

I think yarn manufacturers are similar to generic or house brands of food at grocery stores. They are cheaper without the national brand labels. I buy so many Kroger brand food because it's just as good or better than the pricey namebrands are! Same thing with yarn! Thoughts? 🤔 😊👍🧶

Crystal, you may be right about the yarn store conspiracy. When I was in high school, I toured a cigar factory in Florida. In the shipping room, they were boxing cigars. Well, they were putting many different bands on them and shipping the same cigars as different brands and types-all the same cigars!!! It was a real eye opener.

I've been using this yarn in Shortbread (one of the neutral base colors) to make a triangle wrap from a yarnspiration pattern. The ends have been really fuzzy (like irredeemable), but for the most part I haven't had any real problems with this yarn. HOWEVER, I think I had an easier time because I've been using an inline hook. I think the deeper throat helps to catch the yarn so it doesn't snag on that secondary color. Sometimes the yarn even twists itself tighter while I'm working. Of course never in the loose spots, lol!
I really wish I could include a picture of my wrap in progress. The fuzz is minimal, the secondary color looks mostly tight to the base color, and because the base is neutral it doesn't feel busy.
Crystal's review *does* make me wonder about picking up any of the other colors. Almost all of them are a colorful, solid base plus the changing secondary color. There's a black and a cream (?) with neutral secondary color. Maybe I'll try one of those next time. I'll also be mindful of including washing instructions when I give this to my friend.

Crystal I cannot agree with you more about there being one huge warehouse where all the yarn goes to and eventually gets different labels on it. I thought of you and what you said about this on your live when I was in Michaels just this past Saturday. I was trying to see if they had Lion Brand-Vanna's Choice so I can feel it (always need to feel the yarn first) and the shelves looked kind of empty. I asked the gal that worked there and she told me - now get this - all of the skeins are being relabeled with Michaels "Loops and Threads" ! You are so wise Crystal. I said, "WHAAAATTTT" and asked the gal, "Why?" Of course, she did not know the whys and just said all the different brands are in the process of being relabeled. Unbelievable!!! Crystal I cannot thank you enough for your reviews. I have learned so much from you and these reviews not to mention your tutorials! I love listening to you and love hearing your dogs, seeing you dogs and meeting every member of your family that comes across. So grateful. Abundant blessings to you and your entire family, much love and light!

About the Lion Brand situation It’s a very common practice. Here’s an example. Maytag, Roper, Kitchenaid, appliances(washers and dryers are all made by Whirlpool Corp, which also makes their own brand marketed as Whirlpool. Kenmore had appliances made by both Whirlpool and General Electric all marketed under the Sears Kenmore brand. There are other brands that Whirlpool makes as well. I worked at Whirlpool for many many years so I know this as fact. I’m sure yarn companies do the same thing

Great review, I’m not a fan of that type of yarn but I was wondering if a bigger hook would have helped in the hang ups.
So in agreement w/you on the one yarn factory.
I’m visit England every year, one year I was there and this company was doing a blind taste test of corn flakes, orange juices and potatoes chips or as they say in England…chipies. What was so amazing is that ppl couldn’t tell the difference between the name brand labels from the store labels. I’m saying all this to say, those folks that did the test, said “they’re all the same, made in the same mills but labeled differently”.

You can find out which size the yarn actually is by checking what's called "wraps per inch". To do that, wrap the yarn loosely around a ruler over two inches. Make sure the strands lie next to each other touching but not overlapping. Count the number of strands over the two inches and divide by two. It's better to use two inches instead of just one for greater accuracy. There is a chart available online that tells what each of the seven categories contains. Bulky (6) is 6 wpi or less. Worsted (4) is 9-11 wpi.

I'd put that at a 6 for sure and use a 10mm with a loose grip. I just finished a wrap in wool ease (which is very similarly spun to this) and that's how I had to do it to keep getting hung up on the little loose strands or the single thread that generally holds roving style together.

Bought the exact same product 3 weeks ago, again at Michaels, but this time it was Loops and Threads, at it was $7.99!!! Almosr every yarn they carry now is Loops and Threads, and it all seems to be priced higher.
Gee, it's already not that easy to get yarn in Canada outside of major cities, and now Michaels does this? Feels like I'm being forced to purchase online from Amazon. 😢

Michael's has a new scrubby yarn that's identical to red heart scrubby. In fact, I found a random red heart one mixed in, which is odd because that location doesn't carry that anymore. When i scanned it to see the price, even though it had a red heart label, it scanned as the Loops and threads one. The yarn is the exact same, even the colors. It'd be nice if they released new colors. Like an orange and black for Halloween
