I forgot to include this in the video but I checked the Miss America’s IG account because there had to be others with the same thoughts as me right? They have thousands of likes but 10 or less comments meaning they are HEAVILY censoring their comments section. It’s pretty obvious to me that people are telling them how they feel about The destructive changes to the “competition” but MAO is ignoring all the backlash and criticisms, seemingly hell-bent on ruining the legacy of Miss America.

Here in the Philippines, Miss America was not that popular like that of Miss U.S.A and Miss universe, I tried to watch it before, but it was soo boring and its like they always have uniform smile, calculated movement which is almost robotic, maybe that's why they are not that popular here, but I've seen it before maybe twice and never watch it again, Dani walker's video brought me into your video, while You guys really make the pageant fan enjoy the pageant world, you guys should be the next judge for Miss universe, Miss U.S.A or even Miss Universe Philippines and other miss universe competing country because you guys have the eye for entertainment and pageant, more power to you Queens!!!

In September of 1970, I saw my first Miss America; the impressive Phyllis George earn her crown. I was 10 yrs old. Now I'm 60 and have watched every year since...50 years. Miss America 2.0 was an enormous trainwreck. The WORST in 50 years.

Miss America is the most exclusive so called inclusive pageant or competition or whatever they call themselves ever! miss America is centered around this scholarship program to be relatable but it has a very young age limit hence only allowing traditional age college women to compete. Education is about access so why not allow women who had to pursue higher education later in life due to circumstance or by choice? Also, education is diverse and personal. And miss America seems to cater to this very stereotypical “I want to save the world by becoming a scientist or government official” and pursue a PhD or medical degree which is great but how about women who want to pursue CTE programs at a community college or something completely uncommon that’s just as impactful to the community. Or hell why do we have to just celebrate just higher education as a model of success? And what was up with the final two saying that married women with kids can’t be miss America? I completely disagree and the argument that it’s because the schedule is intense and there’s no time for family life creates a huge double standard. How many men out there leave their families for an extended period of time for their career? But society including the miss America organization can’t accept a woman to sacrifice just one year because she has to stay home with the kids and cook and f**k her husband? How is this moving women forward? How is this feminism? It’s a competition to me that makes no sense and puts women backwards and I simply can’t relate and get excited about it. And if they want to use this as a scholarship platform they really need a higher education expert to consult.
Men who are able to leave their families for their careers are those who have someone at home to take care of the kids. Will a Miss America have a husband who will stay home? Sorry, most women, despite what they claim, will not accept a stay at home husband. So much indeed, for Feminism and moving women forward.

Girl, I had the same reaction. Tbh though, I loved the candidates being divided by fields of specialization, but that's it.
I still can’t believe Nia Franklin didn’t get the chance to do her final walk and her farewell speech. Imagine what the 100th anniversary will be like lol
really sad for Nia.
Best part was when Georgia was excited to be 1st runner up. She realized she dodged a bullet. Took her $25.000 and said peace.
This pageant feels and looks like a village fair with only old folks cheering at their best dressed chicken with the village chairman, vicar and the Miss Karen the sunday school teacher as their main judges. This would not be even televised in a national tv.
I wish they could have introduced themselves by walking up to a mic in evening gown! It would have been so elegant

I was laughing at the organization and I feel you there. Our street pageants are even more entertaining than this. They should do better. It is a national competition so it should at least be better than the street pageant here in the Philippines. And you are right, if they want an all inclusive competition then have everyone be proud of who they are and not closet shut those they think are not swimwear worthy. I am upset just as the sovereign is.

Miss America is run by the wrong boomers. If a boomer who's really into pageants run it, they would have a throne for the winner and an official pledge or song (as Miss Universe had).
People forget that pageants were the answer of some democracies to the glitz and glamour of monarchies of Europe -- a time to crown a representative who will serve as an inspirational figurehead, but this figurehead is chosen on some merits which has become modernized in recent years.

On the positive note you get to hear these girls talk more and show their off their speaking skills. On the negative note a large part of the audience are extremely bored.

A positive, I love that you kept showing Simone 💕 she was an amazing Miss Missouri! Our Miss Missouri Class of 2019 was so so proud of her! But we were so mad for her when the lights were not correct because it didn’t show how phenomenal of a baton twirler she truly is. Look her up you’ll have goosebumps!

I am with you Sovereign. I love Miss America because of its history and legacy that contributed to other pageants. Miss America is the oldest beauty pageant that had shaped and mold most pageants. Most women who won this title are very intelligent, talented and beautiful, that’s why we are not surprised after their reign they will become famous in any career they choose. And it is because an organization, they continue working and participating doing their good causes and platforms. Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, to name a few followed the very essence of Miss America. Platforms and good causes are now emphasized the true value of these titles because of Miss America. And Miss America is well known for its beautiful stage and big production numbers. I just hope that Miss America will remain as it was before being the epitome of beauty ang grace of an American woman. I hope that we will not see the future of Miss America candidates wearing burqa because the organization only wants to crown a smart girl.

Well Sovereign, I have to tell you that under the circumstances you held it together very well. Even at those points when it was clear that you were completely through and done with giving a review of MAO. Imho if MAO ever wants to get back to its former glory, it's going to have to get rid of the executives at the very top, and bring in people who not only remember what made participating in Miss America attractive and what made it entertaining to watch, but then will execute on that knowledge to bring back the glitz, the Glamour, the suspense, the entertainment all of it. To a certain degree I'm surprised that adults put the show together, because there were elements that high school kids in Theater Arts 101 learn that were completely left out of this show, that if left to the high school kids could have been put together better. But it is what it is. Apparently if a certain couple at the top of the executive chain can't have their way then nobody can. If MAO can get rid of them then MAYBE the pageant may make a come back. Maybe......

I too did not like the Miss America pageant and I am no longer a fan. Whoever planned the format of the pageant obviously did not think it through.
I agree I used to love miss America but now I don’t like miss America at all because I feel like this is more like auditions then a actually pageant which makes me mad because I feel so sad for the delegates because they are always looking for swimsuits and evening gown rounds

Yes you are right in every way. We tried to stop all of this because we saw what was going to happen with that leadership. This is complete incompetence and current leadership allowed it to happen.
