- A compilation of clips of various traction engines being tested on the dynamometer. The dynamometer applies a load to the engine to measure their power output.
In the video can be seen:
Robey 7nhp general purpose engine No. 29333 'Wally' of 1910 at a private event.
McLaren 8nhp general purpose engine No. 1148 'Hercules' of 1910 at a private event.
McLaren 10nhp road locomotive No. 1652 'Boadicea' of 1919 at the Welland Steam & Country Rally 2018.
Allchin 7nhp general purpose engine No. 3251 'Royal Chester' of 1925 at a private event.
Beautiful old engines. I just love it
No numbers? Curious on what they were producing.
Same here
I'm afraid not - I recorded these videos several years ago and have lost my records of the readings. The HP is relatively low, but the torque is immense compared to an internal combustion engine.
@@SteamandThings not surprising, steam has more torque than deisel for sure
Torque, 10,000 ft. lbs.; Horse Power, 24.
Not far off!
Fun fact steam is still the most efficient and cost effective way to generate electricity.
Absolutely is - whatever the 'net zero' agenda tries (lies!) to tell you!
Steam turbines are how nuclear plants and waste burning plants work right?
