The guy who made the guide most likely just used a Charizard for all the run, making it overleveled and this is why fire type attacks are so good agains Giovanni and Lorelei
Why not? The second half of the game is where the Charmander line really shines, Erika is burnt to a crisp and then Koga has his Bugs which also get burned up, Dig makes it even more dangerous as it can take out Team Rocket and Dig also has advantages in Blaine's Gym. Was I the only one that caught a caterpie and evolved it to a butterfree so that I could beat Brock with psychic? As someone pointed out, it was actually confusion
I did the same. While Mankey's low kick and Nidoran's double kick were the usual popular options to defeat Brock, I've always preferred Butterfree. It both evolves and learns Confusion at level 10 which is amazing that early in the game. Butterfree also learns various status effect moves soon after which help with catching other Pokemon. Ash also had a Butterfree in the anime which is another reason why I always go with it during my Yellow version playthroughs. It's a really good early to mid-game Pokemon to have in your party.

I never thought anything of it back then, but looking back, it's so weird to see X-Files and Psychic Friends Network mentioned in a Pokemon guide
18:03 IIRC, this is what the channeler standing next to the area (the only channeler in the tower that doesn't battle you) says if the player interacts with her, so it's actually true. 😅
I am in love with this series. I Sincerely hope you keep Hammering away the ne'er do wells of the evil teams and defeating the gym leaders in two shakes of a lamb's tail. But always keep in mind which type trumps which.
Another funny guide. Denoting Oak to a mere doctor is one thing but Pokemon duel sounds like playing Yu-Gi-Oh while Pokemon combat sounds like there might be a war between these creatures.
When I was a kid, I thought Fire type should be strong against Poison, because some of these Pokémon were gases (Gastly, Koffing) and gas is highly flammable . At least it had "some" sense.
This was a really fun/nostalgic watch. Granted I started with Crystal, I quickly collected the first gen and fell in love with Yellow for the anime similarities and, well, friggen Pikachu following me around. "pikachu loses to gary"
Yep that's about right. Yellow is a neat gimmick, but pikachu is reeeaaally weak at high levels.
And even on a good type matchup like vaporeon, it's both evolved and one of the best tanks in the game.
As the last fight showed, not even thunderbolt can carry pikachu hard enough for it.
2:42 Ah yes, PaPaSea's fave phrase, Hammer Away. So be sure to Hammer Away at that Subscribe Button, Aura Sphere that bell for more notifications and if you don't, you're a ne'er-do-well.
It is a pretty common phrase
There's a Prima guide for Explorers of Sky, and my god that thing is huge (and also pretty damn accurate from what I can tell).
The guide had an X-Files reference lol. That's amusing.
Someone find Ken Sugamori and give him his watercolors back
Mulder & Scully is an X-Files reference in case anyone missed it.
dont bother with the zoomers. he tried to get points with the older crowd by saying he started with red&blue (lie).
@@defmore5099
Right? He called Mt. Moon "Dark Cave" every time, and even called Rock Tunnel "Dark Tunnel". Dude used TM14(Blizzard) on Articuno - it learns Blizzard at lvl 51 and you catch it at lvl 50!!! lmao
What’s an X-files?
Word
@@hanburgundy4317 hearing him say he taught Articuno Blizzard because he had the TM for it was really painful
"Most experts think this is just a lot of jurassic mumbo-jumbo."
And now I am suddenly imagining "What if pokemon could do redstone".
I just love this series. I'm so glad I found your channel man.
HAD TO DROP EVERYTHING FOR A NEW NINTENDED
Congratulations to professor oak for finally getting his PhD, super proud of him
That one guy who made FRLG guide trying to add some variety in the very mundane guide: "Hammer away"
Papasea: "It's free real estate"
That's a legit storyline in RBY. The Channelers from Lavender Tower have all been possessed by ghosts. Only the one with the healing squares was able to stop the possession. That is, until the player defeats them in a Pokemon battle, of course!
Also I think I read this strategy guide when I first player the game. I remember that Team Rocket typo. They were supposed to be unevolved, but it was no Weezing and Arbok
Wonderful Nostalgic Memories you took me on 🙂 Great Video Man!
It's so wild (and awesome) to see you doing this guide, I probably read the thing to the point of memorization as a kid. And yeah, even back then I thought it was weird how they never told you the rival's team for Red and Blue xD
Also, the crazy-high levels of snark, pop culture reference and irreverent humor were all over the place in gaming magazines and guides in the 90s. I never thought anything of it back then, but looking back, it's so weird to see X-Files and Psychic Friends Network mentioned in a Pokemon guide
I love how you keep using the lingo from every previous guide so this series is just getting more incomprehensible as time goes on
Beating Pokemon yellow how Nintendo intended.
So just the anime then lol
continuing to "hammering away and laying down the law" love this series xD
TWO SHAKES OF A LAMBS TAIL!
omfg my mind almost thought your pfp was a girl doing that weird lip thing
These are fun. I'm glad you've made another.
should’ve named the spearow Lancelot , since you went with Arthur for your nidoran, knights of the round table theme.. oh well 🤷🏽♂️ haha
"We can't get that shirt anymore"😢 feels bad man.
Ebay.
It's perfectly legal to print your own shirts if you aren't selling them.
Another funny guide. Denoting Oak to a mere doctor is one thing but Pokemon duel sounds like playing Yu-Gi-Oh while Pokemon combat sounds like there might be a war between these creatures.
I love watching these videos on my lunch break! Happy Pokémon Day!!!!
I love this series so much! Every episode is done so well and entertaining by you - thx for this!
Man, I cant wait until you do a "Hey You, Pickachu!" Playthrough
I wanted that, but never got it :(
That game was so lit.
I love that pokemon yellow is so close to the anime. I also liked that they updated every sprite and made it look way better than red and blue
When I was a kid, I thought Fire type should be strong against Poison, because some of these Pokémon were gases (Gastly, Koffing) and gas is highly flammable . At least it had "some" sense.
I had the same reasoning 😅
Everything is weak to fire if you use enough of it. 😂😂😂
I love the pokémon videos, but you've been teasing us with the Zelda one. I'm interested to see how those go
I love how you implement the spelling from the other guides in your commentary
This was a really fun/nostalgic watch. Granted I started with Crystal, I quickly collected the first gen and fell in love with Yellow for the anime similarities and, well, friggen Pikachu following me around. Eventually grabbed the guide for it off eBay and spent ages just reading over it and enjoying the art. Thanks for the hard work that went into this, appreciate ya my dude!
I'd like to see how the developers of Pokemon Conquest wants ya to beat the first section of the game😁
Man I recall getting this for Christmas at 9 years old after the previous Christmas getting Red. Such a awesome time, had 2 neighborhood kids who got Pokémon then too, along with my school friends. Just being able to play with my friends, having us share and trade Pokémon and us battle or argue over who had the stronger team, or egos Pokémon they trained was better. Such an amazing experience I don’t think you can replicate now. Sure you can play online, but they made a relatively single player RPG multiplayer
Love the X-Files reference at 14:40
I like the hammer away meme enough to sub, keep hammering PaPa
YO, the whole 'make big waves with Misty' had me DYING. LIKE, WAS THE WRITER FOR THIS BOOK- DID HE INCLUDE A SECRET INNUENDO OR SOMETHING??!! :D:D:D:D
I actually had this guide when I was younger. I loved all the stickers of the sprites it came with. So cute
Maybe Giovanni paid the writer to be vague
The guide almost got the evolutions right, it's the first two rival battles that determine the evolution.
i would really like to see a Nintended to Black/White or Black 2/White 2, or maybe a Hearthgold Soulsilver one
Oh look a new video from PaPaSea and it's not one of the annoying speculation videos everyone else is doing! Great job, keep it up bro I love your stuff!
this is so funny
also i love how you keep saying hammer away and stuff like that
Back then
No guide to follow
I played Yellow my way
explored each grass
area
Caught Pokemon
Talked to town folk
Inside houses & outside
And over trained my
Pokemon to level
80 thru 95
Beat the E4
Caught Mewtwo
With the Masterball
End game.
