    One very important thing to note...it is a good idea to export your configuration file once you have REAPER set up the way you want it so if you have to reinstall for any reason you can just import all these settings all at once and not have to go through all that again...

    Sad to see you go man, you were/are a wonderful resource to have in the Reaper world, and when starting out you made it seem a lot less daunting.

    You can also hold shift while launching to start with a blank project. A little extra to remember in the morning, but saves frustration in the worst afternoons.

      I just change the default behavior to always open a blank project, then I can pick which one I want from the recents menu

    I found that I didn’t use “dynamic split” often, so I bound the Alt-D key stroke to the action “remove silence” as I used that more often.

    I loved that I could just transfer my Linux config files over onto my windows PC for using it with RX8. Also the portable USB version feature is great.

    I had a maschine studio setup… there’s a midi mode to control your partner DAW;
    So I mapped REAPER to all the labeled buttons etc and behold a new beast was born.
    This was SUPERB! All the beautiful workflow of the maschine control came right into reaper. Wow
    Mapping the edit section to fly around the piano roll like never before (with a jog wheel to edit with 🥰 I highly recommend)
    I’m sure any purpose built daw controller will translate well - but can fully vote for the maschine studio (controller) to partner reaper really well….
    After a lot of mapping. But absolutely worthwhile

    I've customized my REAPER conf so much from the default over 10+ years i've sued it, that I basically can't do anything with default configured REAPER anymore.
    I carry with me an USB-stick that has my REAPER config saved and I save my config every few months to versioned file that's in my cloud storage as well. It includes everything from my favorite free plugins to scripts etc. that I use often and the theme.
    I mean i didn't just go an make REAPER as it is now, it kinda happened, one small tweak and setting at a time over the years. And now it works like I want to work, it never asked me to think like someone else wants things to work...

    Comment just for the Al Gore Rythm: The good thing about REAPER is that you can change pretty much everything. The badd thing about REAPER is that you can change pretty much everything.

    Hi! I am new with Reaper, almost a month and learning to be a teckie. I had a project and watch one of your tutorials regarding freezing midi tracks. I was able to do it but when I wanted to unfreeze it, I couldn't. This is on Reaper 6.3. Can you help me with this because I need to edit the midi tracks. Thank you.

    Hi Adam, thank you for all your great vids (that's the crawling over) my problem has nothing to do with customisation. I have the Behringer 1820 interface and the Behringer ADA 8200 connected by optical light pipes( I got the 8200 so I can leave the drums mics set up). But... I cant get any monitor output from the 8200 in Reaper. I would be very grateful for any suggestions/solutions.
    Many thanks,
    Pete from Auchtermuchty, Scotland.

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pete. Your issue likely has nothing to do with reaper but the setup of the interfaces. Maybe try looking at the “input range” in audio options though to make sure every channel is available to reaper

    VST was created by and is the brainchild of Steinberg (Cubase/Nuendo/etc.) and that's why they often go into a folder by the same name. It's their product, that's all.

    about folders, i put my separate drum tracks into a all drums folder, the snare is sending to a reverb track, post fader, but when i mute the all drums folder i still hear the snare coming through to the reverb track? should this happen?

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds odd, depends on if you have certain things in solo I think?

    • @limbophonic1
      @limbophonic1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adamsteelproducer hi Adam ,in this song i muted the all drums folder in the first verse, (nothing in solo), but i can still hear the snare reverb fx coming thru, so i ended up also having to mute the snare for the first verse as well,

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh so you muted it using automation? That might explain it, when you manually mute a folder it disables the whole thing, but automation only turns the volume off but doesn’t affect sends

    • @limbophonic1
      @limbophonic1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adamsteelproducer Ah thanks for that Adam, thought it was odd, and why would that feature be useful i wonder? so muting the snare track as well is the only way i guess.
