A dress code violation affecting a player's standing in the tournament is insane. I get a fine, but having to sit out a round is not a reasonable punishment
I do think this time, the punishment _is_ reasonable. After being fined, Magnus was given the opportunity to correct the error. He refused. Instead of using that time to refuse, he could have changed back into slacks. I think "short walking distance from his accommodations" translates to a seven minute walk there and a seven minute walk back. In less than twenty minutes, this could have been corrected and FIDE was willing to grant him that time.
"DRESS rules" are NOT Chess rules!! (they are RECENT CRAP by FIDE and CORRUPT sponsors!!) I played in INTERNATIONAL tournaments for FIVE DECADES, in TWELVE COUNTRIES and TWO CONTINENTS (We NEVER had a STUPID "Dress code"!!) FIDE is MORE politically-CORRUPT than ever!!
he was given time until 3 rounds. Some were fined for minor violation but it was easy for them to continue as they just had to remove their sweater before next round. In this case obviously he would have to leave the venue to change pants. Fide is being quite flexible with him and actually going out of the way to accommodate his requests. Its hard to believe magnus forgot about dress code on day 2
@@kneau I'm a fide rated player and 60-70% of my games I wear jeans and there's no one who questions the dress code. They are simply targeting the top players only to make controversies atp. If magnus never entered chess trust me millions of people wouldn't even know about this chess boom. fide wouldn't be getting sponsored by google. Less revenue half of the grandmasters wouldn't even be here since the last 20 year chess boom is all because of MAGNUS and If he says he will change the next day since only one round is left Then you TAKE IT. fide is already threatning players to ban players if they participate in freestyle chess tournament to show their monopoly but there need not to have one governing body for 100's of millions of chess player who still follow 100 year old rulebook. Imagine a country didn't make rules against rape strict enough women would still be getting oppressed and tortured even publicly. We don't want that do we? there needs to be a change and it needs to be now.
Problem is FIDE is trying to enforce a monopoly. It's not just about jeans or dress code. It's about players engaging in other chess outside FIDE (namely, Freestyle) and FIDE is intimidating players. That's uncalled for. And I think Magnus did the right thing (maybe not the right moment) to stand up.
Fide CEO already said they never did anything like this or threaten any players, he said that people like gukesh arjun and fabi can be asked if they ever got threats from fide for participating in Freestyle.
@@Nav-ya16 of course that is what he will say. You think he will admit and say - we did this because we are trying to intimidate players. LOL. Someone needs to stand up against this BS and Magnus is the best person to do so.
@@emmbee6711 You are a delusional glazer. An independent arbiter chose to enforce the dress code for all players and Magnus flouted the rules. He's a pathetic crybaby who serially quits.
The "jeans" part couldn't be any more trivial. I mean if you are that concerned, fine him but making a player like Magnus sit out a round is just beyond me. I guess he did the right thing standing up for himself.
but it was explicitly in the rules of the tournament that 1st violation results in a fine and next results in a forfeiting of the subsequent game... So yeah, he got the fine and since he refused to change, he was forfeited... FIDE also did the right thing not treating Magnus differently than specified in the rules... BTW the dress code is not decided by the bureaucrats (like FIDE CEO or whatever) but by the FIDE Athletes' commission (more notable players sitting there are Irina Krush, Wei Yi, Ivan Cheparinov,... - i.e. active players... so the dress code is the will of the players, not the bureaucrats, apparently) (for the record, Magnus's jeans were acceptable in my opinion (not the worn-out colour, not torn) - nice dark consistent shade... BUT the rule explicitly prohibited jeans for some reason, just as it prohibited sneakers, which Nepo changed when he was fined....)...
@parthsavyasachi9348 I am Norwegian. He also said in the interview with NRK (which is not brought up here) that he said they just followed the rules, and he is fine with that. He explained that he just was fed up with FIDE beforehand. This whole thing wasn't just because he refused to change clothes.
Dress code violations in chess are like parking tickets. If there is a fine so be it, but preventing him from playing unless he changed right away? Absurd.

They could just give a fine and let him continue. After the tournament you can have a disciplinary hearing or something, why make it such a big issue during the tournament ? He was wearing jeans and a decent coat, casual but normal attire. It's not like he was being provocative wearing shorts etc, to deliberately create a situation. This should have been handled better by FIDE officials and organizers. They have shown poor judgement.

@@NoahVM12 I know it's hard to believe but it's not impossible, yes? I mean he really could have forgotten about the dress code while preparing to show up at the venue. And then, the only time he can go change his after a round, which maybe gives them about 15 minutes break before the next round. From videos I saw, the hotel is about four minutes away from the venue, so that's 8 minutes walking distance for a to-fro trip. And then throw in the time to change, that's maybe 10 minutes total. Question is, do you really want to exhaust 10 minutes out of 15 minutes to change an outfit and then be less prepared for your next match, when this match is literally the last one for the day??? PS. Nepo was asked to change his shoes, but keep in mind that we don't know if he went back to the hotel or not. Either way, it's shoes, anyone could bring it for him to change, and he could change anywhere. Unlike having to change pants.
Freestyle chess. Great, love it. Love classical too..Magnus isn't done with chess yet. Let's take this positive, Magnus might surprise us. Many top players will back him up
It's indeed sad. So stupid of FIDE. It wouldn't have been a big deal, to let him finish the last round of the day in jeans, and may fined him another $200. Why being so uncooperative... Instead they indirectly disqualified him (they took his purpose of continuing the tournament).
it was in the rules of the tournament though, that one game of disobeying the dress code results in a fine, the next results in a forfeit of the subsequent game... While the rule is weird, they should not be making exceptions for Carlsen...
Yes it's just fine to charge him to pay the penalty.. but threatening him cannot play next round because of wearing jeans is too much.. 😢 a game should be fun for everyone, despite of his looks/appearance.. this annoys me.
I think FIDE is being misunderstood. They have done absolutely what is right for chess. 1. If any new agency comes up with a new name like 'World Chess Championship' and gets some 20 top players to play by offering great money or an incentive to compete against Magnus, it straight forward undermines the efforts of the entire Chess community that is under FIDE's umbrella. It also affects severely their ability to gather sponsors for their own championships. Would FIFA allow something like a UEFA to be called the World Cup, never. Any one who ever held a position of responsibility in an organization understands this. The only leverage FIDE has is the whip it can give to players to not play and they are right in doing so. 2. FIDE's dress code violation is very strict and feels rigid. But strict dress codes are a part of every modern sport. Why is Wimbledon played in whites? Will colors affect the players' performance? The vibe of a sport is something that sports organizations take seriously. Test Cricket is played in Whites to symbolize the classical style of the format. The dress code is open for everyone to see. Is it a bit harsh about how the players are handled - yes. It is wrong for what they are doing, absolutely not. 3. FIDE is the governing body of Chess, not Carlsen. Carlsen has no responsibility towards Chess across the world. I see this tantrum as a teenager's against a parent. He believes in his arguments and doesn't understand the perspective that comes with taking responsibility.
Magnus has been massive for chess and for FIDE. Millions of casual fans who normally dont watch chess tune in because of Magnus. Some people transcends their sport, like Messi, Michael Jordan, TIger Woods etc. They are so incredibly rare and valuable for their sport. Work with them, not against them.

And u might not like him, but as one can tell from vast majority of comments, almost everyone does. He is after all the living goat of chess. Idk why would u like a company like Fide over a player like Magnus. Fide pretty much does the bare minimum for chess players and their threat towards players participating in Freestyle chess was downright absurd. A lot of top players dislike Fide and for good reasons. That dress code is just another example. It's archaic. Jeans haven't been considered vulgar for like 50 years now. Just imagine the news in media. The greatest player in chess history, was banned from defending his world title in chess because he was wearing jeans? Everyone is laughing at chess world, and they should, cause it makes no sense. Do chess world championship mean so little, that for a minor offence, that even school children might not be punished at school for, is sufficient reason to give punishments tht would affect the result of our World Chess Championships. Of course people are laughing & since this would probably go down in books, everyone who reads it would laugh in future too.

Messi is nowhere near transcendental to football as Cristiano is or they are both equally transcendental. Check the actual statistics on their popularity. You seem too Americanized to not know anything beyond your country and hence you picked up Inter Miami player Messi.
Magnus played jeans gambit.. FIDE responded with jeans gambit declined.. So no one will talk about his game quality but focus on jeans brand.. that's called distraction 😂
Magnus got jeans sponsor coming up? maybe he told FIDE.. "Look, this jeans company me paying more than you for 1st place - so i will continue wearing it"
It should be bigger than individual players. You don't realize why FIDE was invented in the first place. Go back and look at the history of WC matches before them
Some people think magnus is right, some people think Fide is right. They then insist that these positions are correct and the opposite position is unreasonable. I seem to have noticed this dynamic occurring once or twice with humans over the years. I wonder what causes it?
International games with corporate attitudes and rules based in the USA. What mechanisms are in place for the international group of players to change rules if they all agree a rule needs changing ?
Magnus agreed he will change the next day. He did not make any game fraud. This is a mind game and you can’t be disrupting them with rules in the middle of the day. They could’ve waited until the next with a fine penalties whichever but not with stopping him from continuing to play. This is an outright fraud and ego battle on FIDE’s front. Hence he was forced to put his foot down though it was against rules he couldn’t go against the principle of fairness.
This is going to be a BIG loss for FIDE. They are going to lose VERY MANY millions without Magnus playing in any of their tournaments. And most likely they will lose Hikaru as well, losing even more millions. And many content creators are going to lose a lot as well.
They'll take it out of any prize money they have to pay him for his participation in the tournament so far. Although, if he withdraws in this manner, I'm not so sure he'll get any of it. Not that it matters to him anyway. He's already rich.
I don't think FIDE want this war. They should be pouring all their efforts into getting Magnus to sit round a table tomorrow morning and coming to a proper understanding

@@MrSupernova111 He was wearing a decent jean ... there were no need to make it such a dramatic situation ... you should rather question the big ego of the chief arbiter ... who didn't act smart by far ...
It is unreasonable to believe that FIDE would suffer significant consequences as a result of this situation; even the combined efforts of the top 10 players in the world would not suffice to bring such an outcome to fruition. However, in my view, FIDE’s actions in this matter constitute an abuse of power. Issuing a fine should have been the extent of their intervention. If the situation is truly intolerable for FIDE, they could impose a fine for each round, though even this could negatively impact a player’s psychological state. Refusing to pair any player over a debatable dress code-let alone a player of Carlsen’s stature-is inappropriate. The claim that sufficient time was given to change attire is, in my opinion, entirely unconvincing. Fining a player during a high-stakes chess event already places undue pressure on them, and escalating this further demonstrates poor governance. While Carlsen may engage in questionable practices, this instance does not fall into that category from my perspective.
Magnus has been let down by his managers. This will give chance to Indian players to go on top and we will soon forget about Magnus and his freestyle chess.
In essence, Magnus identified the narc. and once you do that, you exit all involvement, if you can, immediately. so Magnus exits, and a guy like Anand, we needs the cash, wishes to be part of issuing a TOURNAMENT ending foul , for the wrong pants? can you imagine getting kicked out of a couple of games in the finals for the equivalent of stepping on the out of bounds line? Sure Magnus could appeal and beg for mercy, but that plays into a Narcs power game. Looking forward the dirt to come out on FIDE, as in intimidation, coercion, and have a battery of lawyers look at it. and press the charges, if appropriate.
the dresscode itself (the one you can find online) says jeans are fine... but its not about the jeans, this is a corrupt and greedy company trying to intimidate its "workers" and being petty... trying to show who is boss - but Magnus doesnt need FIDE anymore, so he can just do his own thing. Same when your boss kicks your nuts but you have a good side hustle, you just leave. FIDE has not patent or what ever on chess - they cant dictate what he does outside their events.
He's the best chess player in the world. You think the jeans thing is an accident? You don't think he knows exactly what he is doing? He's going to crush these fools like Vishay

While I don't agree with the rule (or its implementation... I mean, his "jeans" while they might have been from the jeans fabric, they were not the worn out colour, or the torn ones, but quite nice dark solid colour; I'd have no problem wearing those to a business meeting; in my opinion these particular jeans look much better than the jackets with the sponsor logos...), the rule was there and it was clear in the rulebook of this tournament (or rather, the rulebook of the tournament linked to the presentation of the dress code rules), which explicitly stated : - no jeans (amongst other things that were explititly stated, like sneakers, which Nepo wore, got the fine, and then changed them) - 1st infringement is $200 fine - next infringement results in forfeiting the subsequent game So the arbiter had to do what he did... And Magnus knew the rules upfront. The rules should be the same for everyone, they can't treat MC differently just because he is the best player... (and he was not that good in this tournament anyway... which in turn might have led to his bad mood and what he did ultimately) There is a place to protest against the dress code... that is before the tournament in to the players' committee (FIDE Athletes' Commission) that agrees on the dress code...
FIDE is a bs control organization and lost the participation of the best chess player in the world. is it legitimate if Magnus does not recognize your hegemony?
I never understood the point of dress code in Individual games like who the fk cares about dress code that too in chess 😒😑. Like till you are presentable to the public who cares 😒
I fully agree with Magnus. They could have told him to dress correctly the next day. I think it is a petty rule to enforce with such vigor. Likely a case of inferiority towards the best player of all time.
One question is Magnus forever? No... I'm afraid not....and so it should be..... There will be greater players coming up in future that will always be.. Chess is and will be the only winner!
I'm all for whatever changes are required on rules , sartorial and otherwise....but let this come from the players' body in a participative way rather than an individual throwing his weight around, throwing tantrums , expecting to be mollycoddled!
fines were accepted by Magnus and Nippo, and reportedly there are tons of guys with the wrong socks etc. according to Nippo. The issue is control and heavy handed narcicist covert action, with one game to play, and the fine accepted, allowing the players to come the next day with corrected attire is what any nonbnarcicist would do. it is all about power and this CEO needs to get outed for past, and important transgressions. Narcicists always overplay their hand. over confident, as if their power was a given to the end of time. FIDE brass are under the microscope now, and once the players understand, well the CEO and boys club are gone. Bad analogy. Toddlers blindly follow “rules” without question. Apparently the jeans rules was much more arbitrary and was called out as more of a judgement call by the arbiter. Don’t be a sheep
Anyone who thinks that FIDE is in the right with this - we enforce rules consistently nonsense - is just gullible. Their agenda is clear and Magnus called them out.
What a tragic transformation of Carlsen into a new Kasparov. He lost all respect i had for him. "Rules for thee but not for me" is typical Western hypocrisy and Magnus has just subscribed to this attitude. I have seen comments supporting him on the lines that "it is not a fashion show" or "let him play naked if he wants". Really??? There are strict rules for that in tennis and legends from Laver to Djokovic and from Margaret Court to Serena Williams followed these rules. It shows respect for the organizers, sponsors, spectators, and fellow competitors. And chess "prima donnas" - want more "flexibility". These "chess players with egos" do not understand that - no matter how talented they are - they are nothing without the sponsors and organizers, as chess is a game and that's it. Moreover, they play today more than ever but do they create much extra value? How really cares and what does it matter that all these rapid games are being played? It is a form of subsidy for the chess players due to availability of money.
I dont think its all about the dress, FIDE was already frustrated with Magnus because of his participation in freestyle chess. They could have let him pay the fine and leave him with warning but to throw him out is just ridiculous. Djoko also protested against corona rules that make him leave the US open and Australian open. So, every player has something to stand up to and in this case dress code like for djoko it was corona vaccine

First he does not accept the fact that he does not have it in him anymore to go through the classical championship grind and ran away from his responsibility to pass on the baton. He aslo chose to criticize the format. Ding had so many reasons to quit but he was way more courageous. Now magnus does this. First fischer then kasparov and now magnus running away from their responsibility. Instead of making the game bigger he chooses to demean it at the biggest stage. Sad. Game is bigger than any player.
@@redeyexxx1841 This is lies spread by Magnus. Listen to the latest interview from ceo of Fide with Levy. Of course chess is bigger than Fide but Fide is also an important part of it which is bigger than one player. Rules are set much in advance and large majority of players follow them. Rules cannot change based on whims and fancies of one player who thinks he is bigger than he is. This player is no longer the world champion and was doing poor at best in the rapid championship.
The problem is that the game at its biggest stage is dying, because you only get money through winning, and only get major sponser money through getting to the classical championship, which means for the entire history of chess, dominent players slowly killed the game. Magnus, Anish, Kasparov, FIsher, etc and future dominent chess players means the playerbase will slowly die. Imagine thats how sports worked. Take the premier league, imagine no one cared about the worse teams, and only Liverpool, City, United, Chelsea ever got money from winnning and being dominent. The other teams would go bankrupt right... thats whats happening with classical chess. Magnus proposed a new system, where its more dynamic (less memory), and shorter time forms, in order to increase viewership and subsequently increase money to weaker players (in comparison to players like Magnus), which grows Chess. But FIDE is killing the game, which is their responsibility to grow it, so if anyone is running away, its FIDE, and the task was left for someone else to do something about it which Magnus did by creating the freestyle world cup with larger prizes and got it to esports.
@vishalvpv He still has won more tournaments this year than anyone else and would have crushed Gukesh with his eyes closed so he's explained why he doesn't want to play and if you don't accept it then you were already biased in the first place..
Official Governing body is important for a growth of a sport. If you dont like the rule existing for many years, you should have raised concern and make Fide to change the rule. Its not right to do this drama in mid tournament. Magnus was given time but he is unwilling to change the outfit. If the step is not taken, tomorrow someone will wear torn jeans, then someone with tracks and someone will come with shorts. Ego of top rated players will kill the competition of sports if they try to break away from governing body.

Magnus intentionally did this, he was trailing in competition, he wants to repeat 1993, so it was perfectly planned. Now he'll separate from FIDE and starts freestyle chess organisation.
Magnus said he forgot to change out of jeans when he changed his shoes and other clothes prior to going to the venue for the first round. If that was true -- that he would have changed out of jeans if he remembered -- then taking a little time between rounds to correct his mistake would not be an issue. He clearly provoked a confrontation to justify his withdrawal from the event. And he has a history for doing precisely that in the past, i.e. Hans Niemann. He is a great chess player but a petulant brat when he thinks others don't show him the respect he deserves. I think he should start by showing some respect to other players by (1) finishing events he starts playing, and (2) showing up on time to start play on time.
@@walterbussink3143 IF he simply "forgot" to change his jeans correcting his mistake would not have been an issue. So, yes. He is a petulant, and he is so quite often.
Its not about the dress code. If that was the case, Carlsen would be the childish drama queen in the wrong. It was something waiting to happen and I think Carlsen used this little annoying thing to finally break with FIDE.

BTW the dress code is not decided by the bureaucrats (like FIDE CEO or whatever) but by the FIDE Athletes' commission (more notable players sitting there are Irina Krush, Wei Yi, Ivan Cheparinov,... - i.e. active players... so the dress code is the will of the players, not the bureaucrats, apparently)
(for the record, Magnus's jeans were acceptable in my opinion (not the worn-out colour, not torn) - nice dark consistent shade... BUT the rule explicitly prohibited jeans for some reason, just as it prohibited sneakers, which Nepo changed when he was fined....)...

This is FIDE'S LOSS. SHAME SHAME SHAME ON FIDE.
Disqualifying anyone for wearing jeans in today's day and age is totally ridiculous. I think FIDE should definitely relax the rules a bit.

International games with corporate attitudes and rules based in the USA. What mechanisms are in place for the international group of players to change rules if they all agree a rule needs changing ?
If the players make the rules about what to wear, do they also agree that disqualification is the response ?
Magnus agreed he will change the next day. He did not make any game fraud. This is a mind game and you can’t be disrupting them with rules in the middle of the day. They could’ve waited until the next with a fine penalties whichever but not with stopping him from continuing to play. This is an outright fraud and ego battle on FIDE’s front. Hence he was forced to put his foot down though it was against rules he couldn’t go against the principle of fairness.

Get well soon.
the dresscode itself (the one you can find online) says jeans are fine... but its not about the jeans, this is a corrupt and greedy company trying to intimidate its "workers" and being petty... trying to show who is boss - but Magnus doesnt need FIDE anymore, so he can just do his own thing. Same when your boss kicks your nuts but you have a good side hustle, you just leave. FIDE has not patent or what ever on chess - they cant dictate what he does outside their events.

While I don't agree with the rule (or its implementation... I mean, his "jeans" while they might have been from the jeans fabric, they were not the worn out colour, or the torn ones, but quite nice dark solid colour; I'd have no problem wearing those to a business meeting; in my opinion these particular jeans look much better than the jackets with the sponsor logos...), the rule was there and it was clear in the rulebook of this tournament (or rather, the rulebook of the tournament linked to the presentation of the dress code rules), which explicitly stated :
- no jeans (amongst other things that were explititly stated, like sneakers, which Nepo wore, got the fine, and then changed them)
- 1st infringement is $200 fine
- next infringement results in forfeiting the subsequent game
So the arbiter had to do what he did... And Magnus knew the rules upfront.
The rules should be the same for everyone, they can't treat MC differently just because he is the best player... (and he was not that good in this tournament anyway... which in turn might have led to his bad mood and what he did ultimately)

He never got any special treatment , like can you point one, or you think when he wins the trophies and gives speech infront of camera is a special treatment? No you have to earn it.
Chess needs champions with strong characters ... standing against the herd mentality ...
Bad analogy. Toddlers blindly follow “rules” without question. Apparently the jeans rules was much more arbitrary and was called out as more of a judgement call by the arbiter. Don’t be a sheep
@@pias-04he got special treatment by playing every game at board 1
@feranmiadeakin9850 he didnt tell them to make him on board 1 it's bcz of his hard-work and dedication of winning and becoming one of the Goats
Anyone who thinks that FIDE is in the right with this - we enforce rules consistently nonsense - is just gullible. Their agenda is clear and Magnus called them out.
Oh child...
@@AnuragYadav-i3v bro they didn't throw him out he himself withdrew from the tournament learm a little before talking dumbass
These are the rules. According to the rules the player would be fined for the first violation which indeed happened Magnus was fined in the previous round . But he violated the rule a second time so he was unpaired. @@AnuragYadav-i3v
Bro,.He is Magnus,.goat player,.he told arbiter that next day he will wear whatever they want,.but forced him to wear now,.and Fine 200Dollar for Magnus,.
I support Magnus bro..
It is not just the 'dress code' but the whole FIDE vs Freestyle Chess fiasco. Magnus wants to make chess more lucrative and audience friendly and he is the face of all speed chess and freestyle tournaments, online chess events, even chess in Olympics but FIDE isn't allowing players to participate in freestyle events. They feel it'll kind of weaken their autonomy. Moreover, almost 85% of money, sponsorships and viewership goes through because of Magnus. So, he has the power to assert and make a valid point.
Magnus vs Hans again... only different Hans this time.
Magnus' bad tournament just turned worst
Fide is so bad
This is how Fischer ended up in jail next to a nuclear power plant. Just sayin 😂
Ruined by chief arbiter Alex Holowczak
People defending Carlsen have lost all sanity, Magnus is egoistic, we say "success on head" thats what happened to magnus. That's what our parents teach us all day.
Ian didn't react such a way.
maybe FIDE is the egoistic ones
@RK-wz4cc FIDE is a regulator - The regulator has to be just and fair for everyone. No matter who you are.
i think those supporting FIDE have lost the plot tbh. Supporting a corrupt , control and power hungry inefficient organization of top players opinions..great!
People defending carlsen to me can only be bots, no crowd is so stupid.
@@digocr so FIDE can threaten players to choose between them and private companies? Gtfo
Magnus slowly transforming into Fisher
Yeah, multiple signs speaks 4 that. Niemann causa, retireing from the world championship, concentrating and pushing 960 format etc. He is goat not until the hell freezes, he ist goat as long the people love him. Dont play with peoples love magnus.
He wasn't winning the tournament anyways. So he withdrew so that people don't see him losing to new guys.
It's not they kicked you out, it's just that you withdrew. When you understand you can't just win, you leave the tournament creating some drama. It's better to die a hero rather than to see yourself becoming a loser.
@@Brahmaputra_ how can u say it's just 2 rounds

it's literally THE Magnus Carlsen. undoubtedly the BEST Chess player in the world and history, and it's not even close!
You haven't even done your research.
@Brahmaputra_ With a win in this round, and a really good day tomorrow (like 3.5 to 4 points out of 4) he would still probably win the rapid. Also clear favourite to win the blitz. I like your writing style, just that the content is garbage.
@@Bruder9090 He was in 41st with a performance rating in the 2500s after round 8 when he withdrew
Petty reason!
With all due respect this guy could have been one of the best ambassadors of the game but he chooses to do this.
Well said! Go home, carlsen!
Chess is bigger than FIDE too. Why should FIDE threaten players to choose between them and private companies?
@vishalvpv
He still has won more tournaments this year than anyone else and would have crushed Gukesh with his eyes closed so he's explained why he doesn't want to play and if you don't accept it then you were already biased in the first place..
Absolutely! People are always looking to break the rules regardless of what they are.

@@yashi7275 . Magnus is at the end of this career. FIDE will be around long after Magnus is gone.
@MrSupernova111 As an organisation-Yes. But it'll surely seek reform. The sooner, the better. Sometimes, for a change, you need someone who is a revolutionary. With changes in technology and audience preferences, it's high time there is a reform in chess too.
@@yashi7275 . Reform in dress code? Ridiculous. But if Magnus was truly passionate about dress code he wouldn't wait until mid tournament to voice his concerns. This is just a diversion from his poor performance to withdraw from the event.
Magnus, again, behaving like a spoiled toddler when things don't go his way. Very immature
Magnus intentionally did this, he was trailing in competition, he wants to repeat 1993, so it was perfectly planned. Now he'll separate from FIDE and starts freestyle chess organisation.
Pre-planned
Totally bull
So you know exactly how and what Magnus thinks?? And call him a petulant brat?? Look in the mirror!
