About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday, we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.
Whenever I used to make pies or cakes, I'd have to lock them in my office to keep the cats from sampling them. As soon as you walked away from 'Lil and the cake I said, "I hope he shows us the cake with the paw prints in it." LOL Happy Birthday, Allison.
Morgan I started watching your channel early last year . I live in central England UK and my son lives to the west in Wales 4 hours away from me , he's only 19 but moved to work on a holiday caravan site as there wasn't much work where we live, well anyhow he came down for Christmas and stopped here and loaded his Xbox to our TV while he was down . The one day he put on TH-cam and low and behold your also on my sons list of who to watch!! 😄 He said he loves watching your channel especially seeing the dogs . Great minds think alike ! Happy Birthday Allison 💝
I think Morgan needs a lot more cats -- that way he can become a cat herder ;)
LOL
😂🤣😂🤣
Cats don't herd they manage lololol
I saw something where a farmer used a small section of rounded pipe sliced legnthwise, permently fixed to the fences. They would then pop the hose into the pipe that would hold it in place while they were filling the water troughs.
I thought about a pipe too. Maybe even just a piece of pipe that's larger in diameter than the hose, so you can just pass the hose through the piece of pipe.
Oooh, also a great suggestion! I was thinking quick link affixed but this is more rustic and elegant at the same time!!
I love the fact Allison wanted a dinosaur cake!! I hope she has a very happy birthday!
Wonder if she has run across Clint's Reptiles dinosaur videos. Must see's for dino enthusiasts.
It looked a bit like a fiddly process doing this directly on a plank. In future, it may be helpful to know that it's possible to ease the process by inserting sheets of wax or parchment paper under the edge of the cake before applying frosting, and pull them away along with excess frosting when the process is finished. Also a cake that is frozen before frosting will stay firm for quite a while during the frosting process. Not that this one looked bad (it didn't at all).
Allison shares Birthday with me ! Happy Birthday !
I didn't realize she was an Aquarius like me! I am also an introvert who doesn't like cameras on me lol. Happy B-day Allison!
You are a good man, Morgan. How sweet to make Allison a dinosaur birthday cake. You have excellent animal husbandry practices. I especially ❤ how you ❤ the cats.
Happy Birthday, Allison! 🎉
I was watching this video with one of my cats sitting on my shoulders, wrapped around the back of my neck like a coat collar, and me sitting in the chair contorting my body so the cat was comfortable. I saw your cat perched on your shoulder and had to laugh. That is true love when you contort your body to accommodate a much-loved cat.😼♥
❤ The weird chickens are such brave souls that they wanted to venture outside on such a cold winter's day. The barn cats don't seem to mind being house cats today. ❤
🎉Hppy birthday Allison! Morgan, your cake looked great! Good job
Happy Birthday Allison! The birds looked happy in the hoop coop. I am glad you are working with the cattle. It is great that you are using a stick to keep safe when working with cattle.
Happy birthday, Allison!🎉🥳🦖
Happy birthday Allison. 🎁🎂💝Great vid again Morgan.
I think you still need THREE barn cats. You have a LOT of little critters that need encouraging to move along! How 'bout a BIG YELLER CAT? 😊
Love hearing what Abby hears you saying.😅😅😂
Yeah, that was so perfect.
Happy birthday to Allison!
I think you are an animal person not just a cat or dog person. :)
"Abby dog are you chewing on a poopcicle..? Don't eat that it's gross!" **Proceeds to record Abby eating said poopcicle**
A dinosaur cake ! Every new thing I learn about Allison makes me love her more. Happy belated birthday ! Mine was on the 25th :)
What is the current hierarchy among the cows ? I bet Astrid is moving up the ranks, she strikes me as the boss cow of her own group.
Are you still halter training (or, I guess, maintaining the training) of Randy ?
I made a cat door for my big male housecat, it has worked wonders
He hasn’t brought home any live ‘friends’ yet, apparently.😂
@@doloresreynolds8145 unfortunately yes, I do my best
Happy Birthday Allison!!! I hope you had an AWESOME day
Loving you and Baby Bea!!! So happy to see the budding relationship going well! You're awesome, Morgan, for all this....and Allison's dinosaur cake!
Morgan Gold! You are a kind sole! You are more of a cat person than you admijt to. Your kind heart creates an aura animals can sense. Even though you eat animals you have love and respect for them. The Veggie Boys are very good about building trust. They have a closed system on their farm, i think there are lessons to be learned via them. I personally think you are pretty darned awesome! Thank houn for creating. Your videos! I appreciate you!
Your videos are being SO GOOD!
The pacing, the camera angles, the commentary, everything!
Happy birthday to Allison, from Germany.
Every time I hear any sound Ginny makes, my heart melts. Her little voice is so precious
Love Ginny!
You always do a great job with the cows, it must be nice working with them. There was a lot of cute moments! I hope Allison had a great birthday.
Interpretation of Morgan through Abby’s eyes was perfect 😂😂
Morgan
Great job on the Dinosaur cake.
Great video.

Happy Birthday Allison🎉🦕
Hello & Happy Birthday Allison. I hope your have a great Birthday. Love the names of the new Cows.
Prayers for health and safety.🙏❤️🙏
I love the references you put in your videos. I caught the Simpson's talking to the dog bit!
I live in Colorado in if I have to use the hose when it’s frozen with ice in the winter I’ll bring it in and put it in a tub with some hot water for about 5-10 minutes and it works like a charm every time. Please keep up the hard work your videos have been helping me get through some rough medical things lately! Sending love from Colorado!
Happy birthday, Alison! 🎉 🦕❤ 🦖 🎉
Happy birthday Alison!
Hose attachment: a cable ty and a few good magnets!!
Velcro tape - come is various lengths and widths
...that might be the cheap and durable solution for your issues fixing the hose there.
Being a freelance DJ, Velcro tape is absolutely priceless for me fixing any cables without the infamous Duct- or Gaffa tape
..and you might to add some thin rubber-like stuff that you put under small carpets so they don't slip away. That should definitely work for you in even the coldest conditions!!
Happy Birthday to the wonderful Allison!!
Happy Birthday Allison
Happy birthday Alison.🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Happy Birthday Allison. ❤
We are cat people in our home .in fact thomas the alley cat watches your videos with me usually in the morning! He likes your ducks and your kitty cats!! We all love your sweet farm videos!!! Thank you for sharing like ya do!!
Happy Birthday Allison!! 🦕🎉
How appropriate Yoyo on the cello playing Bach. Cat Farming, can’t have enough Cats on a Farm. They keep our little friends in check and provide a stress relief for us humans. My cat Suzy would come in when it was cold and sleep on the carpet next to the foyer in my house where I grew up in the outskirts of Philadelphia. Then in the morning she would meow to go outside after I gave her a can of food and some water. I have a picture of her the only one and she looks like Jenny but with a bigger white bib. She passed in 91 and was an awesome cat. Ahh the little meow memories.
Happy Birthday Alison.
Hi...... Morgan Nice to see you Love watching your video homestead thanks you bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
A plastic clamp like used for woodworking is the perfect solution for securing your hose, my husband uses one to secure the hose onto the glass for filling his large fish tanks. Easy to move around
Happy Birthday, Alison! 🎉
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLISON! WE LOVE YOU! 🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕
Oh yes...love farm life cold here in north Carolina also. Thanks for sharing.
8:55 You're actually the one who made the chickens scatter when you kicked the hay bale. But your Abby Dog perspective was hilarious.
Happy birthday Alison 🎉
I love how you look to the way they used to care for cattle 100 yrs ago for tips to care for them now:)
Abby's pov of you talking to her had me cracking up!
That was so sweet that you made a cake for Allison ❤ Happy Birthday, Allison 🎉
Happy wishes to your wife for her birthday!
Good morning Morgan, that is the cutest cake you made for Allison, I'm sure she will be delighted. 🎂
Happy Birthday Allison!
Thinking back in the day they worked a lot harder, that's why they got smart and invented things like heaters for water troughs so they'd work smarter instead of harder, something to ponder don't you think. All is well at Gold Shaw Farm, thanks Morgan.
To the creator of this channel who is definitely not a cat person...♥😻😻♥. I do admire the way ALL the animals who live on this farm are treated, whether they are destined to live their entire life on the farm or be processed. My attitude regarding farm animals after seeing the way they can be treated has expanded my viewpoint. BTW hope those 2 barn cats have some cozy blankets in the basement.😉
Amelia Bedila! I'm so happy you chose that name! 😍😍😍
Sorry that I am late responding to this video.
Happy Birthday Alison 🎂 🥳 🎈 💐 🦕 🍽 🥗 🍷 ☕️ 🍰 🎁 🎁 🎁 ❤️ . Great job on the dinosaur 🦕 cake. ❤ from Canada 🇨🇦
I see people online using a pex 90 bend support attached to their fence to hold the hose while they fill up. Attach the support to your fence and just kinda finesse the hose in there when you're ready to use.
Thankyou for a nice moment of time on the vermount Farm Of MicMorgan .
Happy birthday to your wife and best wishes .
Liked the cake , nice 😊
The chicken with the full white beard cracks me up!
I love the mingled bird sounds. And the weird chicken sounds. Oh, and you're already a cat person.
Next small upgrade for the hoop coop? A hat hook fro Morgan's assorted hats depending on the weather!
wow morgan u really nailed the vibe on this video
Your weird chickens remind me of a silky rooster I once had named Salt. He was never able to keep his beak trimmed on his own. So I had to clip it on occasion. If I let it go too long, I called him Gonzo! Love silkies!!
The end has me CACKLING.😂
for the hose , cut a 4 inch piece of pvc pipe, larger than the hose of course, and drill 2 holes on each side of the pipe. tie wrap it to the pole where you want the water to go. the hose can be inserted and will pretty much stay in the piece of conduit. you simply insert and move at will. The pvc piece would basically make a T at the fence pole.
Cats just like it warmer than humans do - it's their physiology. My mind is blown that yours like outside at freezing and below, mine doesn't get out of bed under 15C.
Glad you are keeping you Cats indoors when it really cold Brrrrrrrrr....The Dinosaur cake looks good to eat and tell your wife this old man said HAPPY BIRTH DAY.....Thanks Morgan....Old F-4 2 Shoe🇺🇸
As far as the water holder goes, get a Cable Cuff, big enough to fit around the fence rail and fit the hose inside it and then just squeeze it down until it snug but not to tight or u can’t get it off. I use these at wrk so I can continue doing chores while water is filling elsewhere, I just put the water on slow so it doesn’t over flow while I’m busy with a task.
Love to see the farm, as always! Abby seems concerned with staying near you in the hoop coop, getting in the way of the flock. Maybe she needs to be told to Back Off. Perhaps she is testing your limits by disturbing the flock under the guise of "just coming through" when she should be watching the door. She has come a long way though, great job with her! Great to see the cows staying hardy & happy. An iconic winter scene!
Funny, thanks for sharing Morgan.
As I'm sure you are aware, you could use geothermal heat to keep the livestock water from freezing.
I really enjoy seeing (and hearing!) your chickens. They are MY favorite dinosaur!
THAT CAKE IS SO DAMN CUTE!!!! Could you use the smallish rolls of velcro that are sticky on one side and velcro on the other just to keep the hose in place while it's filling somehow? 🤔 Probably wouldn't even have to bother taking the backing off of the sticky side because it's just a temp thing. Or roll up a bandana and tie the hose to the fence there since it's only needed to be in place while it's filling. 🤔
It's so nice to see baby Bea warming up to you again. 💖💖💖💖
Why don't you install watering stations on your property, with solar powered heat tape and above ground insulation then you can automate it to turn on and off at specified times or manually! Love your videos they remind me of the days I spent on my Grandfathers Farm in the Mid-West keep them coming!! Wish Allison/Allyson a Happy Birthday!!
Abby has such a big personality ❤
silicone cable twist ties to hold hose in position.
To easily hang that hose on the fence you need to attach a small weight near the tip (about a pound) and a simple hook about half a meter (~2 feet) behind it. Say an old carpentry hammer and a coat hanger, both taped directly to the hose, won't be pretty but will work just fine.
Y'all remember when little baby Toby was obsessed with eating goose poops? 😆
Why don't you create a "warm" area for them in the new barn/storage area/garage. Wasn't that part of the original plan? Maybe do a kitty door for them to get in an out easy. Put their heated houses in there.
Happy Birthday have a wonderful day
In terms of hooking the hose on, maybe there’s some kind of 3D printed clasp that could snap around the fence and then pop off when you pull?
For the hose I would suggest one of those extention chord holder clamps with the ridges (like handcuffs) that way you can easily remove/move it. It might slide on the fence but it's cheap and might work in a pinch. (No pun intended)
Try a zip tie around the hose and a strong clamp. The hose hangs under the clamp and is easy to move.
definitely a crazy cat lady in action.
If it's so cold you gotta let the cats in, you gotta believe the dogs are having a GREAT time in the cold and snow. I know my husky would throw a FIT if he wasn't outside when there was snow on the ground.
You know you got a keeper when she asks for a dinosaur birthday cake. Wholesome af lol
Maybe a velcro strap like computer cords come with would help with the water hose. Fasten to the fence, bring the hose, wrap the strap...might need to make your own with wider material.
Everything looking good 👍
Holding a hose for that long sounds awful!
I don't know if anyone suggested this yet. But a good way to hold the water in place is to buy a ring clamp. The ones you see on utility lights that you can attach to things while construction working. They make them with rings to put on things (like a hose) and then you just clamp it to the fence over where you want the water.
You can build a wooden contraption between the fence (simplest version is two planks screwed together whilst being on each side of the fence) and drill a diagonal hole that you shove the hose through. Ideally you'd want the hole part solid so it forms a pipe for easier "shoving".
If you can screw/plug into something onto the outlet that is bigger than the hole it'll even be fastened.
8:56 that undeserved scolding
Happy bday
Hope Abby Dog doesn’t eat chicken poop a lot. Can get the dog sick. 😢
I suggest that you use a reusable
Cable tie to secure your hose and then untie it when the hose is no longer needed. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 AB
... one of our cats was scooped by "someone" (our old neighbour) when she got out (she was VERY pregnant) - she came home missing most of her ears and her pawpads were worn bloody - she was missing for just over 2 months.
We're in the middle of alberta and she's a small shorthaired cat. she showed up a few weeks before it thawed out here. (when the temp drops she carries around balls of stuff and howls a gutteral heartbreaking noise - I know she must have lost the kittens...) Our Mika made it back - I'll keep hoping for Mollys return. 🐾🐾 (Mika-squeak is now almost 17 years old, and spayed as of 2013)
You really love that Cello Suite.
I’m curious about the Barn cats’ litter situation. Whenever you bring them inside, do they recognize the litterbox and know its purpose or do they go wherever nature calls?
Cats don't need to be trained to use a litterbox, so they would indeed recognize the litterbox. Even when outside cats will not go anywhere and will always seek out someplace where they can bury their excrements.
@@Naris48 i have 6 cats, 3 of which are rescues that would argue that litterbox knowledge isn’t inate to all cats. But then again, these were rescued urban street cats which had no access to open soil and wouldnt have had experience covering their excrement- my rescues were probably used to choosing an out of the way roof or a corner of a vacant lot as their designated bathroom. It took them some time ( and a lot of cleaning on my part) before they got used to the litter box.
@@khalborg Oh, I have never had that problem, even with kittens. Once I lived in an apartment that had sandy volleyball courts that were best avoided as all the neighborhood cats had found to be very litter box like...
Morgan, maybe you might have better luck with the castle letting you brush them if you try to brush first, and then offer a treat? Their thought process might be: I have my treat, leave me alone
Happy Birthday Allison!
I hope one day to pet a weird chicken. Those feathers look so soft.
You can be a Cat Daddy!
With regard to wanting to affix the hose nozzle to the fence for the sake of filling the cattle troughs, perhaps some kind of spring clamp would work. However there may be an unnoticed advantage to manual filling, that the moo-boys and girls learn that you are providing the water.
WATER TROUGH DE-ICERS! They are the best.
