Is there a way to bypass needing a WiFi network and using you're smartphone's own data connection with out relying on a WiFi network? Nice quick rundown, but I'm trying to figure out how to set up the TV Queue for Chromecast. Do I need TH-cam Red? Can I set up a queue and have it download for watching later? I have slow WiFi and get lots of buffering pauses. Do you have suggestions for these issues?

Hello and thanks for the video! My problem is that after watching some TH-cam videos, I wanted to go back to TV. I disconnected Chrome Cast from my phone but it won't give me any control to the TV. The remote won't work and trying the menu from the TV won't work either. My regular input port is HDMI1 and Chrome Cast is in HDMI2 slot. Do I need to just unplug the Chrome Cast stick from the back of the TV in order to watch the television? Thanks in advance for any advice you have!
dmcite No you shouldn't have to remove the Chromecast from the TV. You should have control of the TV like normal after disconnecting via your phone. Not sure why it's doing that.
I purchased a Chromecast Ultra and plugged it into my TV, which is eight years old. I know I have it plugged into the correct HDMI port and the TV is set to that channel. But I don't see the setup screen. Is it because my television is so old?

Good video. I have this version but not the newer disk version. Not sure of the difference. However, I prefer the Amazon FireStick. No phone required, comes with a remote. Has its own wifi connection.

Yes the casting icon appears only in apps that support Chromecast but the casting icon only appears when you are connected to the same WiFi as your Chromecast. I hope that makes sense.

Yes but you will need another device to set it up initially (another phone, tablet, or laptop) then you can cast from the phone using its own hotspot feature.

Hi, I have google fiber, and when I saw this chromecast on sale at Best Buy I thought that I needed it.I followed the instructions, but when it got to the connect screen it just sat there. I messed around with it for a couple hours and got frustrated with it and took it back to Best Buy. So what I find interesting is that now my tv and cell phone now does what I thought chromecast was suppose to do.I know that google fiber has so,e of these functions built into their setup. caramelgoddess89 You could use a 3G/4G/LTE hotspot. Just make sure it has good service and fast download speed. But usually hotspots charge more for the data you use, and if you're streaming a lot of video you may surpass your data limit easily with a hotspot. You could just cancel your cable but keep your internet. That would be easier.
Oo2k10 The extension only works with the Chrome browser on a computer. It's not necessary on a tablet or smartphone because the individual apps have the chromecast feature built-in.

Lord Lucan No it doesn't use Bluetooth, just WiFi. As long as your computer is connected to the same WiFi network as your Chromecast and you're using the Chrome browser then you should see it. I'm not sure what the issue is.
Michael Hollenbeck I think that's possible as long as your phone has the capability of being a WiFi hotspot, but if you do go that route be aware that it will use up a lot of your data so make sure you have unlimited data on your cellular plan. Also you'll want to make sure you have a strong 4G or LTE connection if you want to be able to stream video with no lag.
MyTechMethods I didn't even think about it using all my data definitely need to keep that in mind when I only have 5gbs of hotspot ha guess I'll use my normal WiFi over hotspot. Well thank you for your response.

I only mine to work on facebook and whatever else not bothered with TH-cam as this already works for me through normal wifi casting for my tv I've got a feeling the current tv connection I have with TH-cam perhaps interfering with this.
I have a Samsung series 5 TV. For some reason when I go to the App Store on my TV it does not show an app for SLING TV (when I go to the App Store on my other Samsung tv which is series 6 TV, there is an app for Sling TV). Yea you need wifi to connect the chromecast to your phone but I'm sure theres a device where you can connect to your TV via bluetooth. Try searching on Google about it.

Are you talking about a TH-cam queue? You should be able to do that with the normal free TH-cam app.

I assume that by casting from a smartphone you cannot get the video to play in 1.25, 1.5 or 2x speed like you can on the browser?

zeynelcan isguzar I don't think so. I think the audio always plays on the TV with the video.

Joe Pitchford Haven't tried that, but I think the sound will always go through the TV when you're casting.
can we have application loaded/installed in the chromecast so that we can surf the loaded applications without the use of smart phone or tablets or laptops?
