I didn't realize that people thought it was a waste of time to rewrite your notes, I ALWAYS rewrote my notes, even if it's studies for my personal use, if it's something I want to remember, I make a note of it, and then I'll write it in a more organized manner because most times during lectures it's a quick jot of the "idea" and not the full concept. Honestly, I think pretty much anyone who says to Not rewrite notes are in 'that' group of people who are uber talented at organizing, AND able to write SMALL and neatly and quickly and never accidentally write a wrong letter/word. Everyone hates their own handwriting and thinks someone else has better writing, but "YOU" are the one who has to read those notes, not that other person who thinks your handwriting is lovely.
OK, first, you are anything but average...you are exceptional...and perhaps too modest to realize that just yet. Your note-taking system is very well organized and neat. That means not only does it have value for you, but could also help other students immensely. I made some decent side coin selling copies of my lecture notes when I was in college and Paramedic school. I gave away a first copy as a sample and then offered study notes for a small charge to those who wanted them. Today you could scan or photograph and send them and not even need to make hard copies...extra cash for little extra work, now there’s a good business model, huh? 😁 I hope you have a great semester!
Shari Lambeth I do that same thing now! I give the first day of lecture free for everyone in the class and then any daily/weekly notes and study guides cost after that. I can usually make anywhere from $300-$500 a semester just from this!
Unfortunately, all of my professors (at least for this semester) does not allow recording or pictures during lectures. Definitely helpful if it's allowed!

Haha, I thought I was the only person who took sloppy class notes and rewrote them. I cannot study from my in class notes, I have a separate notebook for my in class notes and rewrite them neatly which is what I use to study from. I also highlight prior to writing as well. Same with me, I'm still in school and I was flipping through my notes from last year and I couldn't make any sense of them. I didn't even know what I learned and now I'm taking it seriously and I find that I remember more of it if I redo it too, so yeah. Literally thought that I was the only person that does this.
EDIT: I'm tired of seeing emails from replies to this, so let me clarify something: I didn't say that EVERY SINGLE PERSON learns this way. I said there's a LINK and couldn't believe that people with dismiss it altogether. There's a difference between saying "rewriting notes doesn't help me" and the blanket statement that "rewriting notes is a waste of time". I'm perfectly aware that there are different styles of learning, and that those who are kinesthetic or auditory learners won't find much use in rewriting the notes. Again, I didn't say "I can't believe they said it's a waste of time. Studies show that it's the only way to learn" I said "I can't believe they said it's a waste of time. Studies show there is a link." ---- I can't believe that people say that rewriting notes is a waste of time. There have been studies that show that there is a link between repetition and writing in long-hand to memory and learning.
I think it depends on learning styles. As a auditory learner writing them over would be pointless for me. Taking notes in the first place was pointless. I’d record lectures then listen back to them. Then I’d take part in study groups and discuss. For math and science going through the steps in my head helped.
Yep! That's you everyone should do what works for them :) Recording lectures is also not allowed for all of my classes right now so taking notes is the only way to go for my personally!
TheCoffeeMonsterzCO that’s a shame. Based on VARK it’s known not everyone learns the same way. If something works for some that’s great. But just like writing things again doesn’t work for me. I’m sure my methods don’t work for some. Guess I was lucky that my schools never cut off a learning avenue.
Despite me being done with college/uni, i also always rewrote my notes. I remember some of my friends making fun of me a bit for it, but it worked for me and so I did it. I didn't find it a waste of time at all. It's so awesome to see someone else who also re-writes notes! (I always felt like I was the only one).
As a teacher I watch this type of videos to be able to recommend my students correct instructional videos how to learn for the lesson. And among the multitude of note taking videos on TH-cam yours is one of the best. It doesn't have anything to do with being smart when listening to the lecture, it is just the individual way of processing new information and even those students that understand immediately need to write and rewrite the notes if they want to have the information deposited in the long term memory. You are smart! Thank you for the effort of doing this video!
rewritting notes can be super useful - I used this method all the time in university. But the most important study "hack" is making past exams and tests; if the teacher doesn't provide them, ask older students about the type of questions and exercices you can expect in that discipline. Many times, teachers repeat questions or use the same examples on the exams and can make or break your grade besides, it's a great way to meet new people and make friends! :D
A tip that I like to use is take two colors that look nice together and assign them to a subject/class then use those colors only for that class for the whole year. This helps you a lot with distinguishing between classes when you’re studying for multiple tests
Girl, we have THE EXACT same method for studying and writing notes it's almost scary From talking out loud like a maniac in order to remember well, to the preference of highlighting the content instead of writing in colored gel pens... I agree with everything lol I GENUINELY hate it when I highlight words and because it's not dry enough, it smears... I never actually thought about highlighting before writing, I should try that lol, thanks for the tip, girl ! 😁
Re-Writing my notes was always a huge help. My kids thought I was crazy when I would read out loud to myself. But it truly is a huge help in understanding. You are doing great, thanks for all the tips and tricks! Keep up your hard work!
I used to rewrite my notes when i was younger, but I've gotten to the point where I can write legibly and understand during lectures. BTW, we are both business students in University :) A tip that I have found great, is to read the chapter before lecture, and to do self study questions right after chapter, some books have it and some don't. I also, write notes in my own words when necessary, not copy them from the book, or slide presentation. You are going to do great!!!
Thanks for reminding me about Cornell notes. After two years of taking them in primary school I finally realize how to properly utilize them after watching this. It makes so much sense especially for someone like me who does not grasp information easily.
“Highlight first, then write.” I agree! I’m in elementary and I do use that tip! For the same reason..! By the way, my dad told me weird is special so don’t worry about people calling you weird.
I always watch these types of videos in hopes of changing but I never have. I take the most all over the place, messy notes ever. It’s usually a result of writing fast as I actually have decent handwriting normally but it gets sloppier and more cursive like as I speed up. I am proud to say that I use margins, really helps when I have 2 pages front and back of history notes and I’m looking for a specific year or topic.
I finding rewriting notes VERY useful. I also even retake notes when I reread material. Something about writing it down helps me retain the information. I am super jealous of your hand writing BTW ;)
That's what I do too! I actually type my in lecture notes then combine them with textbook notes when I get home. It keeps my notes clean since I write poorly when going quick and it helps me retain that information. Plus, it also prevents me wasting paper with rewriting the same information.
explaining things to yourself is so helpful!! i often suppose i understand everything, but when i go over things sometimes or anyone asks me anything, i realize that there are HUGE gaps in my understanding xP
Omg your notes are so perfect it hurts me. God how can anyone write so perfectly!? I've been trying so hard to write that beautifully. Also re-writing notes helps your brain to reprocess the material. I rewrite all the important things in my life in multiple places and it has really helped with my ADHD.
During lectures I tried my best to mostly listen instead of taking notes. I realized I always had to end up teaching myself after class anyway so I gave up trying to write down as much as possible. I can't believe I never thought of putting subtopics in a sidebar!!! Thanks for the tip 😁 I also find colored pens too straining for notes so I often use them for underlining instead of highlighting. This is also good if you're stuck with thin paper and don't want bleeding 🤢
Omg. I’m definitely going to be using your highlighting hack!!! I’m obsessed with taking notes, and always struggle with highlighters getting dirty/stained/swearing ink. And always wait til at least an hour goes by, before doing the highlighting. So thank you!!!
Tbh, even though I understand my notes as I write them. Rewriting them has always had two really obvious benefits for me. The first, is that I can actually read them if I rewrite them. The second, is that it's so much easier to retain the information if you purposefully rewrite them. I find that simply rereading my notes leads me to miss things because my brain tells me "oh, you've already read this before" and I unintentionally end up skipping things. That's why I also agree with teaching yourself or a willing subject. Because sometimes they will have questions for you to try and answer and it means you may get to expand your knowledge of the subject at the same time.
Thank you so much! Most study and notetaking videos intimidate me because I take a long time to write neatly and make good notes, so I really related to you rewriting your notes and found the video super super helpful!
i use those page flags from post-it and tbh i love them so much more than using regular paper sticky notes or page markers. usually at the beginning of the school year, i'll get out one for every textbook i have and use it to mark what page or chapter im on in my textbook so when I have to get out my book i can immediately find the page i need. i can make 1 sticky note flag last for the whole school year because they're such good quality. also, i like them just because i feel fancy and who doesn't love asserting stationary dominance
I love the highlight first idea and adding the border. I also color-code my highlights when I'm reviewing my notes: pink is people, green is geographic info, blue is time/dates, yellow is for quotes or citations. I also have orange & purple, and I may pull one of those if the instructor says it will be on the test but I don't necessarily find that fact important. I now use the same color-coding system when annotating my books (which I don't do often, but my code is in place when I find it helpful). Thank you for the tips!
Hi. Do you need some assistance in doing your essays, assignments, or tests? I can perfectly help you reduce some academic workload as you do other demanding duties. I have experience in nursing, economics, business, biology, mathematics, engineering, and even psychology essays and tests. I would, therefore, be glad to share my experience with you. contact me through lewispaps@gmail.com
I tried the highlight first, then write over it because I just hated the smears on both my marker and my paper. It does take a little getting used to, but it is so worth it. It makes your notes look 100x better.
I like your highlighting technique. I hate when highlighters smear my writing. Have you tried the Cornell Note-Taking System? I wish I had heard of it when I was in school.
Re-writing notes is a great way to learn - it helps your brain make more connections and you usually remember the material better. Ditto for writing by hand, as opposed to taking notes on a device. Hand printing and cursive each activate different parts of the brain. Super important skills.
OH MY GOD ARE YOU KIDDING ME I literally JUST started highlighting then writing on top today!! that's crazy, It's so smart to do that lmao. I use brush pens to "highlight" and the black ink just smears and everything looks ugly. Doing it the other way around just keeps everything clean and neat though its definitely annoying guessing how much you're gonna need but I'll probably know with time just like you. So many helpful tips in this video thanks a lot
i find it really amazing how you talk about your weak points as a champ, and it doesnt affect your confidence in your talking tone, you just take it as it is and you found a way to work around it, as we all should with our shortcomings, i wish i could take pride in my shortcomings in such a way
My high school teacher told me to take quick chicken scratch notes and then rewrite them when you get home. The act of rewriting helps etch it into memory. Many of college professors have told me the same thing. It has definitely helped tons!
A method I also liked when I was in university was using Quizlet to organize notes by topic. Like in Spanish, I would do vocabulary from each unit and then the grammar rules we learned.
TheCoffeeMonsterzCO SOOO I TRIED IT and I’m kinda digging it 😂 For those who are curious, at first I kept messing up because either I had too much of a highlighted strip, or too little. What I did to fix this was I pretended/ghosted whatever I wanted to highlight, just to see where my writing would end of that makes sense. After trial and error, I kinda like this! The only thing is my regular ball point pens don’t work on writing over the highlighter, so I recommend the Ink Joy gel pen or I used the Pen Gems with the Uniball Hybrid ink replacement. I hope this helps anyone who is curious! :)
I didn't all the time when I was studying but when I did I loved re-writing notes coz not only it encourages me to revise and absorb information but also to use the different pens that I have and practice styles of calligraphy. And I think it is a good idea to highlight first, then write on top. Thanks for the tip! :)
I like how simple your note taking method is. I see lots of other videos that uses so many stuffs, and implement such complicated things. Honestly it's quite overwhelming. I do think that everyone has different approach to learn faster, but in my sake, yours works the best.
When I was in college I used to record all my lectures or one on ones with my professors. Then I would listen to them while going over my recopied notes and add anything they explained that I didn't already get down onto a sticky note
I finally know where I took the highlighting before the handwritting. It changed my life. Like for real. I love it and now it became a habit. Thanks *triple thumbs up*
I love the idea of rewriting but I have issues with my hands, so once it is. I attend online so stopping and repeating a lecture is my benefit but I am going to try the margin idea. That will keep thing more organized. Thanks!
dude i am so happy someone justified rewriting notes because i stopped doing it because everyone said it wastes time but i zone out during class so i was learning NOTHING you’re awesome for this
I just recently started highlighting first then writing with a pen. I literally thought to myself “why the hell have you never done this Natalie?” So it’s amazing to see that you encourage it. Love your videos and notes!
Thank god someone also rewrites notes. Whenever someone says it's a waste of time, I sweat nervously. But I find it that the faster I write the more sloppier my notes gets, but it's also a benefit to having more information in your notes for a better understanding. After that I usually go back to my notebook and rewrite the notes more neatly. I can only say that it's a game changer if you have erasable pen! Also I think it's a good benefit! When rewriting notes, you tend to remember what you wrote!
Tip number 3 ftw! I had a terrible note taking system before college, but since my first term I started highlighting before writing on it and it's been great! (Hello from Montreal!)
you can clean the smears by dabbing a tissue on it until the smears gone. i have other tips for you. before i highlight, i usually wait the gel ink to dry whilst i do that i write another note for the next chapter so the wait wont be that long. i thinks its more convenient than worrying the gel ink will smudge or you over/under highlight
Just a tip! Muji black pens smudge very easily when used with highlighters so maybe try other brands of pens such as Sarasa and Pentel! They’re great when used with highlighters and barely smudges
I took a semester off of school to just get my mind right and start over with a clear mind. This new year ive learned that writing and reading more is definitely one of my strengths. I've been practicing my handwriting for the past few months to see which handwriting font best suits me and I just couldn't get it to what I wanted. Watching this video has definitely helped me figure it out. I wroe down all the links from the supplies you used and I even did the highlight first then write... SUCH A GAME-CHANGER!!!!!!!!! I LOVED every single one of your tips, I'm so happy about this! IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS
Holy crap, you have such a beautifully soft and slightly raspy tone to your voice. It's so soothing and pleasing to the ear. This video was already very nice, but your voice just elevated it wonderfully. I am taking online courses and I have a huge issue with learning during seminar. I almost always go through the book before class so that I can already have a basic understanding of what is going on before my Prof even gets ahold of me.
Yes! I rewrite my notes too! It allows you to study while rewriting your notes (which is how I memorize and understand things. I have to write things down repeatedly.) also it allows you to make your notes super cute! Adding in diagrams, cute “sticky notes”, and allows you to really organize your notes effectively. :)
Thank you for these helpful tips for note taking! I am currently a student in year eight. And have been thoroughly enjoying binge-watching ‘study with me’ videos. The majority of these videos made are coming from GCSE and A level students. However, I don’t believe it’s ever too early to begin revising and knuckling down. I’ve also been watching people come out of school with impressive results and I honestly just want that for myself. Which is why I am trying to keep motivated and encouraged at all times to allow me to do that and achieve the results I hope for! I was disappointed you didn’t really mention revision techniques such as creating mindmaps/diagrams. I am aware that everyone has their own ways of revising and understanding their information. But most people I know find that is a good way of representing information and categorising big paragraphs of information in a way in which Is understood better. And flash cards are fantastic for little words which you need to learn but are still important. Please nobody judge the way anyone learns. At the end of the day, if that helps then that’s the best way and you should leave people to it. Don’t ever try and change the way people find easiest. We should wish the best for each other always, and never force anybody to be any different. Sorry to ramble about what I do, but I do love this video and find it useful for someone of my age.
It's January 2019 and I literally just subscribe to your channel for soooo many reasons, thank you for being so honest and real. 90% of the things you admit to doing I do n I felt strange but I'm not am A student so I find different ways around studying.
Wow! As a college business instructor, you are speaking my language ❤️. I try to stress to my students how to prep for class. I constantly am saying, “You write on your brain!” I have an MBA and I am a CPA. I did every course via distance learning because I was a working single parent. Without instructors, I had to find a way to get the textbook into my brain. I am constantly writing and mind mapping my notes to prep for classes I teach. After 25 years experience as an accountant I decided I wanted to do something that helped people. I have so many huge binders and planners but nothing takes the place of actually reading the material and putting it in a more visual representation. I have just started doing it on my iPad Pro using notability. Now I can add and update for changing material. I adore your shop and will tutor for Taters 😂👌🏻. I am going to show this video to my students ❤️
I would also like to add that at your age I was typing essays for pizza money; not running a successful business based on my creativity. You are anything but average. You are exceptional on so many levels and humble to boot.
Some people either don't want to or came from a time where laptops were either too slow and bulky and expensive to bother with or schools hasn't integrated them into the classroom yet and are used to handwriting notes. I honestly find the clacking of the keys rather annoying if it's the only sound in the room or if the teacher is talking because it's harder to hear them.
Some professors, or at least one of mine didn’t allow us to bring any electronic devices in class including laptops. Studies have also shown that writing things down actually helps you remember things better.
Some research actually shows that writing your notes is more effective than typing your notes (especially during lecture) because it forces you to think about what you’re writing as opposed to typing absolutely every word the prof says. When students type lecture notes, or even notes from readings, they tend to copy word-for-word what the prof or the reading says, which could limit thinking and reduce retention of information. Writing out notes has the potential to encourage students to think about the content and put it into their own words. The best thing you can do is write it in a way that makes sense to you! I hope this helps :)
our school does not allow to use gadgets phones, laptops, tablets, smart watches, etc. using any gadgets leads to confiscation and the school will keep it for 1 week ):
Something I was taught for memorization (though I'm not sure the validity of it, but it has worked for me) our minds trust our own handwriting more than any other writing, so you're more likely to remember something you actually wrote than something you typed.
DOGGIE DIY!!! Gurl please tell my what type of pens you got from there they recently just opened a minoso store in my country and I’m starting college really soon 🤧
I'm only in grade 7, but there are these brush pens( a lot of brush pens ) they r quite cheap. There are a lot of colors, and they're also dual tip😊 So there will be a thick brush tip and a thin tip. I really like MINISO, but I haven't been able to go back there in a while😔 I possibly might go tomorrow and check, I'll tell what else there is😄
Have you heard of sketch noting? It's a genius idea that combines symbols and Cornell note-taking methods. What you do is create a symbol that represents a topic and use that in the section for titles. You can also use more pictures instead of words for notes. But, of course if your subject has a lot of details, you can uses these symbols to represent a recurring theme in the text or a very important detail along with written notes. It's like mind mapping, but with pictures.
I love this video, I also rewrite my notes. I always take notes on my computer during class but I can't study from my computer so I rewrite them. My classmates think I'm crazy for handwriting a summary and not typing it. What I also find useful is to watch videos about the subject on youtube if you can find some, that way you hear everything again and it is more likely to stick. My history teacher in high school used to make these videos about the subjects we saw in class and I always watched them. Also, please keep making videos like this because they make me excited to study! So thank you for that!
Finally someone else who highlights first. I can't stand smudged ink on paper or highlighters, I also use mostly liquid ink pens so it is a major problem, even if highlighting first the ink can feather slightly so I always highlight a space, start writing after it and then go back a few seconds later to write over the hughlighter
The tip that says that say your notes out loud is wired but it actually help for me , it made me think that I'm the teacher of the class and made myself to study more , thank you very much
For me, I always rewrite notes after class, I’m a reading/writting learner and I love writting. That helps me to read again all my lecture slides and remember them faster
DO the highlighting thing now and I love it! The separate columns for titles also the best and literally have saved me when I'm doing DBA and trying to quickly find a topic.
wow i love that you write your titles in the margins bc i always felt like i was the only one who did that??? when i first started to do that it kinda changed my life tbh bc it makes things easier to find but also i feel like it makes things like neater? and overall my notes feel more put together? i actually really loved this video!! i feel like im the type of person who needs to rewrite their notes in class but bc everyone told me it’s a waste of time I never did it :/// but istg this video has motivated me to start rewriting my notes

@Nuha HUSSAIN wewwo I just want a damn gift if I'm out the world
@Nuha HUSSAIN Damn no....I want a damn ps5
LOVE that you take "messy" notes too and then go over it neatly. Repetition is good for memory. And I'll def use that highlighter tip
Yesss! It helps me so much! Plus it motivates me to go back and reread my notes if it's neater ^_^
I do it and I'm a straight A student so yeah...
I do that too !
Never, me too, and even my parents told me that I´m wasting my time and that the semester will ends without me.
kpop xbitch army???????
Yes!!! Past papers are super helpful
Unfortunately, I'm the first batch in my major so I don't know to whom I have to ask for preparing my exam hahaha
this made studying *better*
please teach me how to write neatly
edit: am learning how to do calligraphy yeet
sqnkook hello fellow army
I purple U lol hello (i know this isn’t a bts vid no offence UwU) (;
edit: what am i saying lol

ARMYYY😭💜
Practise. Practise. Practise. Consider taking calligraphy lessons :) .
A tip that I like to use is take two colors that look nice together and assign them to a subject/class then use those colors only for that class for the whole year. This helps you a lot with distinguishing between classes when you’re studying for multiple tests
your handwriting is *LEGENDARY*
Girl, we have THE EXACT same method for studying and writing notes it's almost scary
From talking out loud like a maniac in order to remember well, to the preference of highlighting the content instead of writing in colored gel pens... I agree with everything lol
I GENUINELY hate it when I highlight words and because it's not dry enough, it smears... I never actually thought about highlighting before writing, I should try that lol, thanks for the tip, girl ! 😁
"I'm just an average person" *writes perfectly*
1:37 My "neat" writting.
What a mood
EllieTheHorse same 😂
You know what , I have got the same case here 😂😂
That's my best handwriting lol
finally, someone agrees with me😂😂
Re-Writing my notes was always a huge help.
You should buy the muji refills on amazon! Its more environmentally friendly and i think its cheaper on amazon
That's useful to know! Didn't know they made refills.
This feels like a Muji commercial lmfaoo
Lol. Yeah but as a uoft student I totally get it. The muji flagship store is like 20 min walk away and they have the best and cheapest pens!
Sandra Wong for me the closest muji store is pretty far and they’re not that cheap
@@eatrocks6704 Depends which campus you are at.
AHAHHA LMAO
Dude i see you ALL the time
Thanks for reminding me about Cornell notes.
I just copied her handwriting AS IT IS
100% on rewriting notes. Like you said, rewriting notes actually does help you retain more info!
Ok your handwriting indeed is awesome but i can’t stand how you mix capitals with normal letters
explaining things to yourself is so helpful!! i often suppose i understand everything, but when i go over things sometimes or anyone asks me anything, i realize that there are HUGE gaps in my understanding xP
LOVE THE MARGIN TIP!
Teach everything to yourself is also an awesome tip. Its really the very best way to learn.
Yesssss ‘rewrite notes’ squad!!!!
I’m a 2 year old woman but I loved this video. I could use ideas to asministrate my time and business. Thank you

@@noirblanque5324 ikr, wtf.
How are you able to type
What. ...... 🤔🤔🤔🤔Is it

Thanks for the tip 😁
I also find colored pens too straining for notes so I often use them for underlining instead of highlighting.
This video is old but man this was the best video I have seen that was really helpful!
Never tried it! I'll definitely look into it, thanks!
I’ve been doing this since like 7th grade lol wait I’m only a freshman 😭
I dont like it lol. I've been doing it since 4th grade, because its required, and it's just a huge pain.
Her notes were actually in the Cornell format.
dang we have that in school and its goooood
LOL!! Girl when you talked about how you are in lecture! I felt that in my soul. I can relate 100%. That is legit my life story!
Definitely going to try out that highlighter trick!
Yess let me know if you like it hehe
TheCoffeeMonsterzCO SOOO I TRIED IT and I’m kinda digging it 😂
For those who are curious, at first I kept messing up because either I had too much of a highlighted strip, or too little.
Highlight 1st!! You are definitely not alone... I've been doing this for years... I got sick of having too many smears...Great tips!
Thanks!
dude i am so happy someone justified rewriting notes because i stopped doing it because everyone said it wastes time but i zone out during class so i was learning NOTHING you’re awesome for this
“Lecture is too quick for me, I cannot process” - I would definitely like this video cuz we’re the same. 😅
I just recently started highlighting first then writing with a pen. I literally thought to myself “why the hell have you never done this Natalie?” So it’s amazing to see that you encourage it. Love your videos and notes!
I love the way you organize your notes! Definitely going to use these tips, thanks!!
Thank you!!!
I bought your stickers about a year ago.....had NO idea that you're from Toronto! Haha.. I live here too. Small world?
I'm from BC! I just moved to Toronto to attend UofT this September hahaha
@@TheCoffeeMonsterzCo im from BC tooooo
Tip number 3 ftw! I had a terrible note taking system before college, but since my first term I started highlighting before writing on it and it's been great! (Hello from Montreal!)
Love this video! So helpful and aesthetically pleasing. I am going to try the highlight first idea as well as the margin one. 😊❤️✨
Thanks Nathalia!!! I hope they help!
you can clean the smears by dabbing a tissue on it until the smears gone. i have other tips for you. before i highlight, i usually wait the gel ink to dry whilst i do that i write another note for the next chapter so the wait wont be that long. i thinks its more convenient than worrying the gel ink will smudge or you over/under highlight
I wait for my ink to dry bc I don't want to overhighlight
Holy crap, you have such a beautifully soft and slightly raspy tone to your voice. It's so soothing and pleasing to the ear. This video was already very nice, but your voice just elevated it wonderfully.
I am taking online courses and I have a huge issue with learning during seminar. I almost always go through the book before class so that I can already have a basic understanding of what is going on before my Prof even gets ahold of me.
6:16 when you're getting your sim's skills up and you speed up the time
Yes! I rewrite my notes too! It allows you to study while rewriting your notes (which is how I memorize and understand things. I have to write things down repeatedly.) also it allows you to make your notes super cute! Adding in diagrams, cute “sticky notes”, and allows you to really organize your notes effectively. :)
I definitely recommend buying the ink refill instead of new pens, eco-friendly and is probably cheaper too!
Sorry to ramble about what I do, but I do love this video and find it useful for someone of my age.
i always highlight FIRST and then write on top 😚🤪
Yeah me too😇
It's January 2019 and I literally just subscribe to your channel for soooo many reasons, thank you for being so honest and real. 90% of the things you admit to doing I do n I felt strange but I'm not am A student so I find different ways around studying.
Lovely
I'm not in uni but in high school, and I was just wondering can't people just type up stuff/notes on their laptops instead of writing them down?
I LOVE THE "HIGHLIGHT-FIRST-THEN-WRITE" SO MUCH
If I studied with other people for me hearing the information was more effective than writing it over and over again.
Definitely personal preference! I don't study well with other people so rewriting works for me ^_^ For sure do what works for you!
Writing in general helps you remember things better so rewriting, organizing and synthesizing your notes makes a lot of sense! Great video!
I think that MUJI items are very expensive, I like MINISO. It's way more cheaper😊
I really like MINISO, but I haven't been able to go back there in a while😔 I possibly might go tomorrow and check, I'll tell what else there is😄
oooOoOOOOOOOOooO does miniso have BRUSH TIPS
Have you heard of sketch noting? It's a genius idea that combines symbols and Cornell note-taking methods. What you do is create a symbol that represents a topic and use that in the section for titles. You can also use more pictures instead of words for notes. But, of course if your subject has a lot of details, you can uses these symbols to represent a recurring theme in the text or a very important detail along with written notes. It's like mind mapping, but with pictures.
My writing is atrocious but I can still read it 😂
I rewrite notes when I study and it always helps
I love this video, I also rewrite my notes. I always take notes on my computer during class but I can't study from my computer so I rewrite them. My classmates think I'm crazy for handwriting a summary and not typing it. What I also find useful is to watch videos about the subject on youtube if you can find some, that way you hear everything again and it is more likely to stick. My history teacher in high school used to make these videos about the subjects we saw in class and I always watched them. Also, please keep making videos like this because they make me excited to study! So thank you for that!
Me: has graduated High school, in college, took AP and DC classes during HS.
Also me: *sees Cornell notes* A P US H NOOOO
Finally someone else who highlights first. I can't stand smudged ink on paper or highlighters, I also use mostly liquid ink pens so it is a major problem, even if highlighting first the ink can feather slightly so I always highlight a space, start writing after it and then go back a few seconds later to write over the hughlighter
How do you make your sticky notes? Love them!
It's made by a manufacturer :)
The tip that says that say your notes out loud is wired but it actually help for me , it made me think that I'm the teacher of the class and made myself to study more , thank you very much

i got OCD looking at you writing upper case and lower case notes mixed

I was looking for this comment
OCD isnt something you can get . You have it or you don't.
Me too.
DO the highlighting thing now and I love it! The separate columns for titles also the best and literally have saved me when I'm doing DBA and trying to quickly find a topic.
When God had spread legible and neat hand writing.. I'm probably sleeping.
You feel much more realistic than other study TH-camrs that I have watched. I feel like your tips are so much suitable for me!!!!! Thankss
When I saw her handwriting I thought to myself “how do you even do that”😂
wow i love that you write your titles in the margins bc i always felt like i was the only one who did that??? when i first started to do that it kinda changed my life tbh bc it makes things easier to find but also i feel like it makes things like neater? and overall my notes feel more put together? i actually really loved this video!! i feel like im the type of person who needs to rewrite their notes in class but bc everyone told me it’s a waste of time I never did it :/// but istg this video has motivated me to start rewriting my notes
