    Here is the only thing about Crochet... I think any package for him is going to end up having to start with Mayo, Kjerstad, or Basallo. And I am not sure the O's would pull the trigger on that.

      I'm not sure it does. The farm system is deep. The Orioles have other quality guys in the system that teams covet. I understand where you're coming from but I think they can swing the deal without one of them included. Time will tell.

    I expect Povich will be back up as the #5 the first time they need a 5th starter. Maybe Irvin makes 1 spot start. Obviously, the hope is that they acquire someone to push someone out of the rotation and in my opinion... They HAVE to get a quality starter.

    One thing regarding the Crochet trade idea. Norby has been playing the corner outfield positions almost exclusively in Norfolk. I think Elias has long term plans for him for when Hays and Santander leave town. I have Norby right up there with Mayo and Basallo as the untouchable Orioles. He’s that good and isn’t some fringe guy who might play decent elsewhere. He could very well be the best player on the Orioles in a couple years time.
    I’d also bet Mayo will man 3rd base if he holds up defensively, Gunnar SS, and Westburg.. not Holliday at 2nd.

    • @birdlandnetwork83
      @birdlandnetwork83  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don't be too quick to give up on Holliday. The kid is 20yrs old with a year of minor league play. He's special. Norby certainly isn't a fringe player. That's why I said he won't be a utility guy with the O's. He's a major league ready guy. I won't go so far as to say he'll be the best player on the team in a couple of years. Gunnar, Adley, Mayo, Basallo, Kjerstad and Holliday may have something to say about that.

      @@birdlandnetwork83 I’m definitely bullish on Holliday, I just think we’re already heavy with the left handed bats, add that with Westburg being a .280 hitter with 25 - 30 homers, which is what we should reasonably expect for Holliday, I don’t see a clear fit. Westys already doing it.
      Now, I’d love to keep him. If Mayo moves to 1st, move Westy to 3rd. Depends what we plan on doing with Basallo. Maybe he’s an option at 1st with Rutchman behind the plate full time.

    Watched the video mainly for the trade talk. I am surprised there was no mention of Fedde. For me Skubal is a deal that Elias doesn't make because Detroit will want too much. I can see us making a trade for Crochet but we would have to treat him like Wells in the past and move him to the bullpen mostly with the hope of being able to use him in late September and early October to start some games. So knowing Crochet won't likely be in the rotation in August and September, I think they gotta go out and get another starter like a Fedde. So, we either swing a bigger trade for both Crochet and Fedde now or we pass on Crochet and just trade for Fedde and look elsewhere to add bullpen help. When it comes to the bullpen I can't see us loading up for Mason Miller either knowing that Bautista will be back next year so we might have to live and die this season with Kimbrel and add some better middle relief or set up guys. In the second half I expect to see Mayo brought up and maybe Holliday at some point but not likely. For trade purposes I would think Mayo and Holliday are here to stay and most likely Basallo as well. It wouldn't shock me however to see Cowser traded along with players like Norby, Stowers, McDermott, Fabian, and Beavers.

      I'd pull that trade. Norby doesn't have a spot here, Basallo is 2 yrs away & a luxury, Stowers doesn't have a spot. I like Johnson, so it's basically 2 guys with no spots, 1 guy not in immediate plans & 1 guy who is a maybe. Im basically giving up Johnson for Skubal. Skubal puts the Orioles over the top with a playoff rotation of 1. Burnes 2. Skubal 3. Rodriguez. Leaves room for a possible back end starter, Suarez slides to the pen, Povich could possibly go to the pen & can add a 8th inning guy , sometimes closer guy & Coloumbe return.

      @@birdlandnetwork83. Including minors, Grayson went from 103 IP to 122 IP. 144 IP to 172 for Bradish. 125 to 172 for Kremer…. Crochet had 12 IP in 2023. 54 is his career high. He’s at 107 today. You’re at least going to need another 10 starts and 50 IP out of him and that’s before you hit playoffs. Teams aim for 25% load increase. Orioles being a risk adverse team can’t possibly expect Crochet to have a 300% increase and maintain this level of success. Long term move, it’s great. We will need a top rotation arm next year. O's should trade with Seattle for Gilbert using: Mountcastle, Cowser, and Povich. Trade with Miami for Scott and Weathers (I'd pu back in bp) using Beavers and Wagner. Then decide if you want to trade Basallo for Miller player for player? I would! 3 legit closers? Hell, yeah!

      Let's discuss. Why would Seattle trade away Gilbert? They're in first place in their division and in a great spot to win it and get home field at least for one round? Not sure they would trade him away. The other thing is Oakland won't trade Miller for Basallo straight up. Just don't see it happening and, to be honest, I'm not sure I want him traded. Catchers are so so hard to come by and we have what might be the next Johnny Bench. Thirdly....all these trades are cool but that's assuming these teams want to trade back and there's a fit. Why is it everyone is now all of a sudden so sour on Jackson Holliday? The kid is 20yrs old, #1 overall pick, #1 prospect in all of baseball, has been highly successful at every level in the minors and is a great person to boot. Plus you want to give up Jordan Westburg as well? Absolutely not. The other thing is both Skubal and Crochet have had arm injuries in the past. That hurts their stock. Jim Duquette (a highly respected former GM) stated on another show this week guys with previous arm injuries are more prone to have them again. I'm firmly against the Orioles giving up the farm system for two guys who have injury history, limited innings (Crochet) and don't guarantee anything.
