To all that is blaming the audio guy. When you watching the episode on bflix or Pirate Bay the sound is perfect. It’s the same with the video with the Volvo S60 R. Terrible sound on BBC’s upload on TH-cam with the music drowning the voice but perfect on all other places.

I kinda like it when the sound producer of this video actually forgot to increase the volume of the narration voice of Jeremy (not when he's in the car) just to hear the marvelous engine of the RS4.
Is this a joke? Not sure what happened, but I've got the original BBC recording of this episode, and it has completely different music, with perfect audio mixing (voices are clear and engine sound is epic). This one is rubbish.
Turns out that BBC has a music licensing deal for broadcasting that doesn't let them use certain songs on other platforms such as TH-cam. Even the official blurays have replacement music! Such a shame..
There is a brief moment I can hear Jeremy clearly at 2:10 and it was beautiful

I actually think the Audi RS4 is better than an M3. I've have that gen RS4 over an M3. I think Audi hit the sweet spot with that gen RS4. I think that's the best gen RS4.

Even if he abseiled back down he'd have gone substantially quicker than climbing. Probably 20 - 30 minutes, given the 2 hr assent. There was no way Clarkson could beat them down the mountain if he couldn't beat them up it

While this is my absolute favourite Top Gear vs Extreme Sports Folk races I can promise you that while everything you see in this video may be "real", none of it is "true". Some friends and I took a pilgrimage to the Verdun Gorge area for a roadtrip this summer and drove on every bit of tarmac you see in this film at least once. The "route" shown on the map doesn't actually exist and Leo's landing point from his base jump is not accessible on public roads without a serious 4x4. Doesn't stop it from being an awesome piece of television.
And if you are a proper petrolhead and within easy reach, get your butt down there for a few days and experience the area for yourselves. I can promise that you won't be disappointed.
At first I thought it was just me but upon reading all of these comments, I've now came to the conclusion that the sound sucks.
If you guys need a sound engineer or supervisor, you can hire me or at least someone that likes to hear what the narrator has to say.
