Thank you very much for this useful and clear explanation of beta blockers. How long does the blocking effect last after stopping taking them? What are the side effects when one stops taking them ?
Some problems that i can think of "could be" increased HR, that can cause hypertension, excessive sweating and high blood sugar. These could be the effects when you stop taking them but im not 100% confirmed.
Can you tell me why when I take metoprolol It takes me from stage 3 hypertension, to prehypertension but every cardiologist I’ve seen says metoprolol does not help blood pressure?
Its a bad drug. I just got put on it..took it for 2 days and broke out in hives, headaches and dizziness. Look up adverse reactions to it. One is death or heart failure
I took propanolol to alleviate the physical symptoms of anxiety...i took 10mg in the morning and at lunchtime another 10mg. After the first ten I felt nothing...after the second 10mg I became very dizzy and faint which lasted for about an hour...i never took them again. Is this a side effect that would gradually have improved?
Propanonol Has many side effects. It can worsen chronic obstructive lung disease resulting life threatening bronchial asthma. So its better to avoid this propanolol
Yep. Propanolol has the side effect of “orthostatic hypotension” which means when you stand up the first hour after using you tend to faint, cause your blood pressure may drop too low, causing dizziness or fainting.

Most likely, yes, although please consult with your doctor. It sounds like a drop in blood pressure caused by it, completely normal side effect
