I love the dark floors. They will look cosy when the furniture is all in place. And wood floors upstairs are also fine. So much easier to keep clean and dust free than carpets! And since you asked, I wouldn’t sand down the beams in the kitchen. It looks just fine as is.
You should be really proud of yourself. How sensible to downsize and not rush into doing anything straight away. Only the essentials first. Well done, it’s a beautiful home 😊

Downsizing is our next plan , my husband retires at Christmas so we really need to free up the money that is tied up in our current property. Your new house looks great .X

I love the house Leanne! I would definitely sand back those beams in the kitchen. Maybe do a patch to see what you are working with and if it's worth the time. M&S bean are a game changer! We were Heinz all the way till we tried these. 49p own brand M&S and lovely same with the plum tomatoes (we are the same always use plum and not chopped). I cant wait to see what you do with the house xx

This is beautiful - that fireplace is absolutely stunning. We also just moved to give us more financial freedom - best decision ever ! Although we technically didn't downsize - but we moved from South Essex - up to the Midlands - So we got more for our money. Rooms are smaller but we now have a garage and huge garden and cut our Mortgage by two thirds - a whopping reduction. It will take us years to renovate though lol

I think the house is lovely and ideal for a slow project. Enjoy the process. Ive seen beams (your kitchen) painted a light brown, like milky chocolate and thought they looked really nice once. Good luck

We down sized paid off the mortgage and my husband was able to retire 6 years early as we could build a nest egg up with no debt or mortgage

New subscriber here, hi 👋 Can I make a suggestion…perhaps you could get some nice large rugs instead of carpet? That way if there’s a spill then you can just replace that piece rather than the entirety of it. Also, I think that you can deglaze the tiles to change the color. We did the same years ago….sold our big house and paid off all of our debt. Now our next goal is to make the big move from across the pond 😉

Those main level floors are beautiful! Maybe sand them down to lighten them up? My opinion is leave the kitchen beams as is. Lovely home!

we moved to a new county and got rid of debt and and a big mortgage we still have a small one but so much more affordable :) love your new house is it in the west county ? x

@@leannejayne3545 we moved from oxfordshire last year to lincolnshire on the coast its so much cheaper we brought a 2 bed bungalow with a converted garage for our son on a big corner plot for £175,000 ! x

Hi Katie, that's a great question! Sometimes we find it challenging because we love to spoil her, but we try to teach her the value of hard work, taking care of our belongings, and being grateful for what we have. Recently, we started using a piggy bank to help her save for things she wants. I'm happy to discuss this topic further in an upcoming video. xx❤️

Hey Alyson, thanks for your suggestion about changing the lock. We did talk about it, but we're actually thinking of replacing the whole door. It's pretty heavy since it's a stable door, and we'd love something with larger glass panels to brighten up the house and hallway. Xx
I would have your oldest have the upstairs loft as her room and you in hers just because I want to not have my kids a floor away.
