👴 Old Composer Reactions 🤘
I love the Cuphead soundtrack. Fun fact, they assembled the band with a bunch of music department professors around Toronto. There's a behind the scenes video of it somewhere around TH-cam. The lead trumpet was my teacher some 25 years ago when I was a teen.
Hell of a Time is the second half of Cuphead’s final boss theme, which is actually composed almost entirely of reprisals from every other song in the game.
There’s almost no original melody in there, yet it still all tries to fit together. Only in jazz…
Two Bells! In the game Dark Souls the character has actually rung two bells (to progress the story) to open this fortress, and this song plays during the boss fight of that fortress. He is a hulking oversized metal knight that you fight atop a tower of sorts, where you can fall off at any time. He is constantly lumbering towards you, menacing slamming his weapon around to hit you. Your description is very spot on. So cool that these ideas are actually 'present' in the music, and can be conveyed through music.
The vocalist of Poets of the Fall is called Marko Saaresto, he sings better live. Listen to them more you might like them. :)
I think the lack of depth to iron golems theme actually sort of works in its favor, the fight is grand, and climactic of the area, but the golem itself is little more than a hulk of metal with raw strength to its name, and thats whats easily exploited in the fight. the golem itself is imposing, and has much power behind its strikes, but thats all it has going for it.
"And we keep driving into the night", that song indeed played in the end credits of Max Payne 2, it's pretty melancholic, due to the storyline. The canon is that Max keeps losing his women, so it's really sad to hear that song. Max is such a tragic hero, the definition of the anti hero. Everything that he has to go through and how life plays out for him is everything that nobody wants to wish on their worst enemy.
The song may be a bit cheesy but its also foreshadowing of Max' future, so it kind of fits? And of course its yeah, from a finnish band and the finnish are who made this game so thats that.
I've a feeling you'll be hearing poets of the fall a few more times...From a few more games. Just a hunch ;)
I remember seeing a video of a live performance of a selection of Cuphead songs at a (I think it was a) jazz festival. It was incredible.
When I saw Dark Souls I hoped it was the firelink shrine theme. The boss themes from that game are very good, but sound kinda weird out of context. Now, Shadow of the Colossus has boss music that I can enjoy on its own. Hopefully someday you'll check it out.
Try the Firelink Shrine theme of Dark Souls it is iconic and pregnant with emotion and solace for the weary players who hear this track play every time they come to one of the only truely safe areas of the game for respite sitting by the fire's side.
11:55 lol! was not expecting that
Baccano's Guns and Roses also has that jazz, big band vibe. Good anime Baccano. Set in America in the 1930s with gangsters.
OST for Max Payne 1 and 2 is incredible.
Sounds of Finnish-Japanese cooperation. Amazing games and soundtrack. So many years have passed and only this year I can say that I have completed all three games. Max Payne 2 I finally completed this year. Poor Max, he has experienced so much. Poor guy.
"Wow, something massive must be happening during this track". Yes, yes there is something massive happening. You couldn't be more right 😂
Congrats on 100k subs u deserved it!
Max Payne 2 song is by Poets of the Fall. My favorite band :)
Remedy like Poets of the Fall so much they made them a fictional band in their games called "Old Gods of Asgard" and still use them. It's a shame you have to play their game Control all the way to the end to play the ashtray maze and see their song "Take Control" in context.
This! Also, can't wait to hear what they cooked for Alan Wake 2
it's been a while since i played it but they're song was during a shootout in alan wake where you're on a stage yeah?, also were they in quantum break at all, i don't remember hearing them
@@alcoop8729 If I remember right, the actual (fictional) band members were also in the game in Alan Wake, but the action scene in Control was more memorable.
For Boss fight OST I would love it if you would watch the fight for context, especially for fromsoft titles
the fight themselves aren't enough
The boss theme reflect the boss story and what it was and is now durant ng the fight, the lore is the most important piece
Dark souls soundtracks always get the adrenaline going
Need to look at the soundtrack for The Last of Us
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne soundtrack is the best. I played the game already.
Filed under game OST requests: the whole concept of Stray Gods deserves attention, but i'm not sure how a reaction would work since there's no one track to spotlight.
One of the most ambicious visual novel concepts and videogame soundtracks ever
@@toroplz4225 Indeed, but hard to analyze or react to anything but a full playthrough, since even the four published variant albums can't be considered "correct" or "true"
I don't remember this track from Max Payne in the game, just remember Mona singing this song in the bathroom and if I remember right, some randow enemy singing that aswell
It played at the end.
Late Goodbye doesn't really feature in the game, the janitor in Max Payne's apartment sings it, and it plays in his headset. And maybe it plays in credits, I always skipped it.
WAIT! I just realized something!!!! Did Geebz really never react to Mario Galaxy's Gusty Garden??? We need to right that wrong! Please Patreon guys, recommend it to him! This is like one of the main tracks you HAVE to listen to if you're even remotely interested in videogame music!
Also, if you like that song and you're on this channel, there's a very high chance that you will love the Jazz cover by Insaneintherain!
He absolutely 100% did back in March, though the vod isn't uploaded anywhere and might be gone. He hasn't heard anything else from Mario Galaxy so it's open season
Always make sure you have the safety on on your fart machine kids, accidents happen.
Max payne 3 has a top tier soundtrack
Listen to the soundtrack: World of Warcraft Warlords of Draenor cinematic trailer. You'll like it. Very powerful soundtrack. I'm sure you'll appreciate it like a professional and be delighted.💪😎
Love your content
nice
if you like dark souls, check out tracks from bloodborne and dark souls 3. the music has improved quite a bit in those
The composer changed. The composition changed because Kitamura didn't just adopt Sakuraba's work but put her own Flair to it (with absolutely overthrowing the composition with huge choirs) which I'm not always too fond of.
@@zangy3748 While Kitamura did most of the tracks in Dark Souls 3, she only did a few for Bloodborne.
dark souls 3 has a much better sound track than the first game, i recommend the main theme to start with.
why can't they be both amazing? dks1 ost is great! o&s, firelink shrine, daughter of chaos are all amazing tracks.
I wouldn't say much better, but yeah I like it better too
