I was in 2nd grade when "one nation, under God" was added to the pledge. That was Eisenhower reacting to the McCarthyism that was shadowing the culture of fear that was being stoked. It was an attempt to establish our difference from Russian anti-church feeling.
God alone does not designate any particular religion. Muslims believe in god they just call him Allah. Hindus believe in many gods but Brahman is the chief god. American Indian have the Sky Chief god and so on.
There are many from groups which have been marginalized for years who will tell you that they have always had to be wary of people proudly displaying a cross, for exactly the reasons you have cited. Now the distrust will come from a wider community.

There's a reason why Trump's co-opted bible is the King James Version. The owners of copywrites on the translations of the Bible wouldn't have their reputations sullied by signing off on such an issue. The King James is the only English translation in the public domain.
That might be the case, but I think the explanation I heard, that they did not want to pay royalties, is more likely given how Trump and money foes together.
Nonsense. There are many translations that have passed into the public domain, from Wycliffe (predating the KJV) and Douay-Reims, to the RSV (on which any copyright has long expired) - and there are several modern translations whose translators have dedicated the copyright to the public. Many American Evangelical denominations, however, regard the KJV as the only inerrant Word of God. Some go so far as to say that the KJV translators were inspired by the Holy Spirit to correct the errors in the Hebrew and Greek. Even though the translators said that the original sources were diligently compared, they worked primarily from the Vulgate and to a lesser extent the Septuagint. Some of the questionable translations in the KJV are quite clearly traceable to Jerome.
There are many excellent translations of the Holy Bible. My go to is a more modern translation: The New King James version which, has made reading and understanding a whole lot easier without all the "these and thou's" in the King James version

About twenty years ago, I and a colleague were studying in the US. He's Australian and I'm Western European. We noticed how every "Christian" Church seemed to fly the US flag on the Altar. Given that we were not "Americans", both of us found this "weird". In Australia, according to my colleague, you MIGHT, on occasions, see the Vatican flag flying (we're Catholics), but those occasions are rare. In my own country, for much of my life, there was a violent conflict going on where, as a short-hand, the denominational preferences of each side was too often used to differentiate the combatants (in reality, the conflict was far more complex than that). So, it was only on extremely rare occasions (State occasions, State funerals) that the National flag was ever allowed in Catholic Churches. BUT, part of the architecture of Anglican Churches in the same country, literally built into the walls, were symbols of Anglicanism's utter submission to the English Royal family and the Anglican communion's complete loyalty to the English/British Imperial project. As a colleague at home put it, you "knew where their loyalty lay" - and it was neither to the Biblical Jesus or the State in which they were living.... Hi Rev, this is unrelated, but something a Priest said, who I admire, really bugs me! At a retreat, he showed a photo of the Shroud of Turin. He pointed out the nail marks, the thorns in his head..etc, and then said, "I did that! The Nails is his hands, that was me. I'm responsible for what happened to Jesus" I understand that he was talking with a youth group, but every part of me thinks that this type of theology is just not good. What about the poor person, who has a very low self image, and they hears this..that THEY put Jesus on the cross! How can this be healthy! If you see this, any thoughts? Thx
actually: The “God Bless the USA Bible” includes the text of the King James Bible along with the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Pledge of Allegiance. It does not, however, include the 11th through 27th amendments of the Constitution, thus omitting the provisions that abolished slavery, granted the right to vote to women and Black people, and limited presidents to serving only two terms." just search "trump bible amendments" and there's lots of citations explaining what was omitted by fascists.
That is a valid point, but when do we stop following the rules of a Stone Age nomadic tribe of goat herders and start using teachings appropriate for 8B people in a high tech world? There are some great things in The Bible like "Love Thy Neighbor", but, as an example, is Leviticus relevant anymore?

Is it possible to recover these stolen symbols? Or are they to forever remain in possession of political entities and special interest groups who abuse them. The first symbol in church you think about is flags? What about that guy hanging front and center on a cross? That's pretty -edgy- thought provoking IMO. Thankfully, the Methodists had the good idea of leaving the body off the cross. My symbol is the Dawkin's "A", although he seems to be tarnishing a bit with age. You talk about reading only one chapter at time. I have two books like that you might "enjoy". "Straw Dogs" by John Gray and "In Defense of Looting: A Riotous History of Uncivil Action" by Vicky Osterweil. Andrew Seidel of the FFRF wrote a book called "The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism Is Un-American" in case you're interested. Took him eight years to write.
SPEAKING OF SYMBOLS...Did you know that the original Christians NEVER placed a body upon the crosses that they depicted? This is because they knew the TRUE meaning of the crucifixion and resurrection. Most modern Christians absolutely do NOT, which is indicated by the fact that the dead body of Jesus is most always placed upon the cross! And all of this also reveals the meaning of the words of Jesus on the cross: 'MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORESAKEN ME?" I reveal the answers elsewhere. But how many of you are interested in even investigating? NOT MANY, IF ANY. You may be interested, however, once the flames of the Great Tribulation have risen high enough. And THAT is exactly why the flames must come. Elijah has returned, as prophesied, and testifies.
It's a blasphemy. It's paganism . It's desecration. It's desacralization. Today, where America 's Church fits in the 7 Churches of Asia Mineure ? Find your answer by yourself.

Also Happy New Year!🎉🖖🏽🙆🏻♀️
Separation of Church and State is not in the Trump Bible marrying Government with a Christian Bible.
Like the blue ✓ mark?
It will probably always be difficult to separate the bible from politics, since so much of it is basically a handbook for rulers.
@@davidellis4084 I'm not arguing for it, just saying that as it is, it's the most powerful chain letter ever written and it's words justify examples of tyranny, cruelty, and oppression, which appeals to many of the most enthusiastic seekers of power.
A handbook on the History of the Middle East Nations rise and fall and, one's relationship with the Divine.
It says "the Trump Bible" Not "The Holy Bible". What's in a name? It says everything!
Russian Orthodox has the Tsar as its leader. Government and religion as one.
I don’t belong to any religious belief or organization. But I think It must be heartbreaking for true Christians to have their cross and bible stolen by those wanting symbols to hide their sins. Is it possible to recover these stolen symbols? Or are they to forever remain in possession of political entities and special interest groups who abuse them. Losing them makes one realize how precious and important they really are, an important part of the glue that hold the group together. I do hope those thieves come to regret their theft.
@ Rev Ed, do you ever debate folks? Actually, I despise debates and prefer mutual truth-seeking discussions, but too many folks are taken by the Christian nationalist movement in the U.S. and they could use someone like you to compare/ contrast what they're being told. Keep up the good work
AMERICA THE GREAT*BABYLON THE GREAT
This sets us up for persecution when people like Trump grifts off of the Bible, and Church goers that espouse evil things like racism, and other cruelties that are against Christ Jesus’s teachings in that We are to Love our neighbors as ourselves. We must stand up for the Truth.
The symbols Z and V seemed to spur the Russians on at the start of the war in Ukraine. ( Z for victory and V for strength In truth )
How does the last paragraph of the Bible pertain to this.
The swastika was based on a symbol from a peaceful Tibetan religion.
How does one worship both Donald Trump and Jesus Christ both at the same time??????????????????????????????
And those trying the hardest the first religion upon others, usually don’t follow themselves they believe it’s too woke or something so basically their religion becomes a casual a club, to be others into submission and have control Over others. The power for the corrupt, the children, except always use religion to justify their actions because through religion, you can justify any reaction, no matter how horrifying in the name of God
If you don't like the Trump Bible, don't buy one. Problem solved.....
theres nothing wrong with trumps name on the bible cause it has no scripture changes and is only a memoribilia version...but you hypocrits never say a thing about the john macarthur , kenneth copeland and kenneth hagin study bibles with their names on it.......people throw the word blasphemy around like water in a bottle.......go read the biblical definition.....people have the message bible and yet it is a bible that was by a man who said God told him to rewrite the bible...talk about wicked versions.....thats truly a bible that should never even be in print....
You are right there are church that have the rainbow flags in church 😂😂😂
"You may be softly telling your congregation there is a marriage between country and church"
Really?
What are you telling your congregation when you condone abortion, gay marriage, etc is all that biblical?
Made in ?????
China!
More profit for Trump.
Why is it paganism? Trump is arguably a false idol, but for the more general definition today of followers of Pagan faiths, I do not think it is applicable. Most have probably repudiated Trump and everything for which he stands.
Thank you for shedding light.
What was that saying about when the salt loses its flavor??
@@jeanandre6129 And no light is found in or around Trump
I am not a real reader of the Bible. I do remember a line about beware of the shining one.
NY Judge Juan Merchan ordering Trump to be sentenced on January 10, 2025
The Dems are still trying to get rid of President Trump. Not very surprising.
Just one example of the left persecuting the Right. Trumped up fake crimes, twisted into felonies all to assuage the left.
Lie!
Trumps name is nowhere on that Bible.
No but the supporters sell it as the Trump bible.
And the media calls it the Trump bible adn Trump likes to hear his name mentioned in connection with it.
AMEN!!!
Amen!
