When it comes to Christian Nationalism and theocracy, whenever a political leader invokes God or Scripture to say that "this is what God wants" it is always what he wants.
This reminds me of one of the stories about how the Native Americans were so easily exploited by "settlers". Natives did not have a concept of borders or of anyone "owning" land. The land was Mother Earth to all and the idea that someone could claim a section as their own was not understood. Now we see how many wars are a result of someone claiming "this is my empire/kingdom". In truth it belongs to none of us and to all of us at the same time. We are just visitors here to learn about the great miracle of life.

It seemed enocuios at first but I recall ojectors even then who said christians have no allegiance except to Christ alone. I recall when the first passing references by preachers beliving God established America to be a light to the rest of the world and that it was by inspiration of The Holy Spirit that America was formed. All of us read the Bible through a lens, but we get to choose what lens we use. Those who believe they _don't_ have a lens are the ones most susceptible to being misled by their own biases. Christian Nationalists have made an idol of America itself and so they read the Bible through a lens that justifies their desire for political power and social control, even though none of these things are what Christ told us we should be concerned with. Quite the opposite, actually. And yet many of them will argue that they are just reading a "plain interpretation" of the scriptures.
I’ve found that the same passages of the Bible, especially the New Testament, have different messages for me depending on what I’m going through at the different times I read them. So I guess my lenses change as I grieve, fear, experience loneliness or joy, etc.

Yes, but in Scripture, the Devil offered Jesus worldly power in his 'last temptation' before the crucifiction part came. So a certain segment of American evangelicals have simply taken that offer that devil gave to Jesus. Perhaps, Jesus was wrong, this one time, right? lol But seriously, I got a deeper understanding of why Jesus chose to arrive in Jerusalem on what is not called Palm Sunday, on a donkey. The donkey, being more docile represented Jesus approach to a calm inner peace life. The people were in fact looking for a warrior king, who would fight physically against Roman rule. Whereas, Barabbas was some sort of rebel. I was always told that he was just a thief. But I have learned in recent times, that some saw him as some kind of earthly warrior type leader. (I often just pick random people to respond to.)
Pray for my granddaughter. She is leaving today for Cleveland for a 9 month mission, to work with inner-city kids and immigrant kids. She is really going to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We pray for her safety in these troubled times, but I am so proud of the love she has in her heart. Her life story is an incredible God story, I'll tell it sometime.
Thank you for this message, Rev. Ed.❤ Your points that we as Christians have never been promised a nation, the reminder us that Jesus expressly said His kingdom is not of this world so our kingdom can never be of this world, and then wrapping it up with how you see this world as a ‘work site,’ etc., were brilliant, insightful and helpful (and esp. appreciated by this American). These are important truths that we as believers can be sharing with others as we practice loving God and our neighbor, staying mindful of the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations!

I agree. I saw a comment one time from a friend on a forum I belong to. She said she "found" a scripture saying what she thought something happened or was.
America is my homeland because I was born here, but America is not my HOME... as the song says, "My roots were never on the ground.", because my Spirit is only here for this lifetime, and when this lifetime is over, my Spirit will be called HOME, wherever and whatever HOME may be. Yes, I grew up in the Baptist church, so I retain all the teachings of Jesus in my heart, but I've been a Spiritual Pagan for the last 32yrs, and while I no longer worship any god or goddess, I do believe in The Universal Powers That Be, whoever, whatever, and wherever they may be. I've always had immense faith, but the election shook that faith, and I've been struggling to regain it ever since. When one of your videos showed up on my feed, I wondered if it might be a gift from The Universal Powers That Be, to help me find my way back onto my chosen path, and so... here I be, standing with open hands raised, hoping that these open and empty hands might be filled with the Spirit once again. Amen, Amen, Amen, and So Mote It Be. Only the Brightest and Most Positive of Blessings unto you and yours, gentle Teacher. 🙂🙂🙂
In the past, I sensed that you folded your arms and watched the world went by. This analogy of mine is you do not want to get hurt. Folding arms can avoid people walking by easily. Now you want to open your arms, that means you are open up to being getting bumped into you. Because open arms wide is perceptible to being getting hit and hurt. Jesus opened HIS arms wide and being crucified. On my part that is what human should help one another despite we knew we will get hurt. That is open arms.
I noticed that when I studied Buddhism and attended a temple for awhile, that the focus on compassion and cherishing all living beings magnified the teachings of Christ. I understood him better through the lens of Buddhism.
Paul says we are ambassadors of Christ. Since we are ambassadors, the place we live in is not our "nationality" or birthright, it is a temporary residence. Ambassadors represent their country to other countries. They aren't citizens of where they temporarily dwell.
I believe that Christ is in all of us and we can wake that part up. And it does take practice. Rev Ed and the people in this community are great inspirations. Christians like him seem rare now days. But I've also noticed the the loudest and weirdest get most of the media's attention. So, hopefully, they're not so rare.
@michaeldarlak6583 your pist and my reply are lyrics to song! Really! We sang it in our Sunday school class, when I was high school age. Title: This World is not My Home by Jim Reeves.
What an awesome message! I've often "felt" a sort of aversion to the "un-christ-like" subtext between the lines in certain arguments all of my life, and this message clearly points to that disturbing "veil" that I'm only beginning to become aware of...thank you for shining the light.
The more absolutely certain you are that you are right, the more difficult it is for Holy Spirit to teach. The thickness of the veil over people's eyes depends on how 'absolutely certain' they are. If you are more open to being taught, and the possibility that you are wrong, the more sheer the veil becomes until it is no longer there. Christian Nationalists tend to be so absolutely certain they are right that the veil over their eyes is so thick they cannot see any daylight at all through it. While some might be more open to teaching and being wrong, their teachers may not be, so they continue to be led on a path towards absolute certainty and an inability to be taught. Which pretty much means they will not see the error of their ways, and will continue to believe that Christian Nationalism is the right way to go... regardless of what the Gospel says.
Love you! Yes, we as Christians have no Nation. Our world is Christ Jesus. There are no boundaries, as we are connected by the love of God through the Holy Spirit. Our planet is small, but our world is eternal, and the Lord's love is infinite. America and it's so-called borders in white supremacy has absolutely nothing to do with the Love of and for our Lord, Jesus Christ. Love your neighbor as thyself. Period. AMEN.
Ive pondered the question quite lengthly, and come to the conclusion its not God not pulling back the blinders, but people willfully being blinded in their own free will.
Thanks. Had to run downstairs to get a book off the self to share this (about Organizations). 'A man was walking along a road, followed by two foreigners. It happened that this man saw something glittering on the path. He picked it up, observed it, and put it in his pocket. The other two, behind him, saw what he did and one said to the other: "A bad thing for isn't it?" But the other man, who was the Devil, answered: "No, what that man found is the truth, but I shall help him organize it."'
Thank you Reverand Ed, for always working your way into the deep parts of the questions people ask, and helping us see the loving way. I don't know if you already covered this, but after learning various facts about Israel and it's military operations, I'm having a big problem with those people causing the deaths. I hope you can guide us along the path of love on that whole subject. May God bless your teaching in the new year.
Good morning! (PST) A Rev. Trevors video popped up in my TH-cam recommendations immediately after the US election in November. Because of the election results, I felt sad, angry, confused and frightened about the new president's coming reign. I'm old enough to know how to grieve my losses and deal with disappointments. so I didn't get stuck in hopelessness. Plus, Rev Ed's appearance in my life, along with this loving community was a genuine blessing. I have shared him with my wife and a few friends. I will continue to share him with others. But, I have two questions. 1. Where can I find the schedule for the live conversations? I poked around on the channel page but couldn't find it. Or, are there announcements that I can sign up for to receive? 2. Where do the donations go? I don't have much of an income, but I donate here and there and have to prioritize. If I had Elon Musk's money, I can promise you I wouldn't spend it the way he does.
There's a live stream and chat every Wednesday. It's called "Church Without Walls". You will need to adjust for your time zone. I can't remember what exact time it is where I live here in the US, but it's in the late afternoon. You can make donations during the live stream. Reverend Trevors is really good about saying where the donations go. I hope this helps. Sorry I can't remember the exact time right now. Look out for it on Wednesdays. Much love!
@@FireElement7 Thanks. That is helpful. I have Wednesday mornings at 9AM and Saturdays at 4:30 PM PST. But I keep on seeing other live broadcasts. Maybe it's because of the holidays?
Oh. The donations were requested by the chat participants who wanted to help support the ministries of feeding the hungry, the homeless, and hungry college students that Father Ed works on. Basically, casting our bread upon the waters of hungry people.
The reason they had to add the first ten amendments ( additions) to the proposed constitution was to add a bill of rights, which included that the government shall not establish a religion or interfere with the free exercise of religion.
Christ himself would not have been "white" , , , I kept thinking of Simon of Cyrene who relieved Christ in carrying His cross . . . the color of our skin has nothing to do with our faith. LOVE is all that matters.
This depends upon church organization. Not all congregations hire and fire their own pastors. Those which do obviously hinder the pastor’s ability to shepherd (given otherwise good shepherds).
Is that the Baptists doing that? The Evangelicals? The Pentecostals? That's not how the Anglicans, Orthodox, or Catholics get their pastors. The congregation doesn't vote them in or out, as if they were a politician.. 😬
In addition to my new home in Tumwater, Washington, My late Uncle invested in a small ranchito outside Santa Fe, New Mexico which is home to a myriad of orphaned animals, from some Ortolans to a elephant who enjoys giving me a ride around the moderately big back 40, and loves offering this to my fellow Older Gay Male friends who are my guests... I'm proud of doing this, and in a way, my Uncle's spirit is watching over me here, and he's proud of me an' GLAD I'm an animal empath, and in a way, they're happy with ME, too.
I’m a Calif native. I’ve travelled across the border many times. Vacationed in San Felipe. I’ve got Mexican family. The garbage being pushy is just that. I’m so sickened by this. My grands were immigrants from Europe. They’re Nationalists equal to zealots but they’re NOT Christian’s.
I suspect the need for a veil/lens through which to view life or Christian writing is related to one’s need for security. The more secure we feel, the wider the angle of the lens we can use, or the thinner the veil we need. Those who are less secure need to protect themselves from seeing things that they don’t know and understand and therefore must be perceived as harmful. It must be a painful way to live if one is full of fear. I surely hope I can continue widening the lens through which I view ideas and the nature of the human experience.
This man knows Christ I want to tell you that I am a Christian and I won't w a n t all people to know Christ all Races all creations to be in harmony to God
My own belief says that the veil will be lifted from the verses when you are READY for the understanding. The ah ha will happen when you are ready to understand the scripture when GOD feels you are ready to handle the understanding. AMEN 🙏
So, where do they find forgiveness for their sins if not from Jesus Christ?? By living a sinless life according to Jewish traditions? 600 plus Rabbinical laws along with the laws of Moses??
Ive been reading Matthew and Jesus baptizes John and immediately afterwards he is in the wilderness for the next 40 days where he has nothing to eat or drink. You know it is at this point, he is treated with contempt and then flattery if he would only bow down to Satan. This story confirms Jesus is the Christ when he is offered all the kingdoms of the world but refuses because God's kingdom is not a worldly one. The Antichrist(s) are the people who sell out for power over things of this world, no?
Matthew 3;15-16But Jesus answered and said to him, "permit it to be so now for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." vs 16When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediatelt from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alight upon Him. vs 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom Iam well pleased." Chapter 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
I do believe God will remove as ppl get closer to God. The Bible does say ppl will have waxed eyes. Ppl sadly hear themselves ,they think its from God. When we spend time with God we learn to hear him.

Why don’t they post, ’It’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into the kingdom of heaven’ on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange? Our diversity is our strength. America was built on freedom for all. Regardless of race, creed, or color. A melting pot. Some have assumed that a nation of immigrants wouldn't have the ability or urge to work together. They were wrong.
Well, we flubbed the race and color part for most of our history. But as MLK Jr said, “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
This thing about "veil" is a source of great misunderstanding. Many recommend -- wisely -- to look to scripture to see where the FIRST mention of veil is made. Hopefully, this will lead to better understanding. Israel -- through Torah -- was to become a Light to all nations. Moses was the first among us humans to be filled with the light of Torah, and so when he was ready to transmit it to others, he would SHINE so brightly that people were afraid. This is written in Exodus 34:29. And so, in order to allow him to transmit the Torah, he needed to have a veil put over him to prevent blinding others. (34:35). Christians later misused and misconstrued this verse to apply it to Jews who, to them, seemed to be blinded.

The fact of the very numerous Christian denominations tells us that all people of faith peer through a lens and hazy veil.
Your view of Jesus is a lot like my faith of Buddhism. Thanks for this.
I noticed that when I studied Buddhism and attended a temple for awhile, that the focus on compassion and cherishing all living beings magnified the teachings of Christ. I understood him better through the lens of Buddhism.
Amen. Thank you for speaking on this. I didn't know this. I'm so happy to hear from you. You explain a lot for me to understand
Paul says we are ambassadors of Christ. Since we are ambassadors, the place we live in is not our "nationality" or birthright, it is a temporary residence. Ambassadors represent their country to other countries. They aren't citizens of where they temporarily dwell.
5:40 "I get to practice being Christ-like in this world". 💯
Yay for you and me!!🎉🤗🥰✝️🎶🌹❤️
I believe that Christ is in all of us and we can wake that part up. And it does take practice. Rev Ed and the people in this community are great inspirations. Christians like him seem rare now days. But I've also noticed the the loudest and weirdest get most of the media's attention. So, hopefully, they're not so rare.
Thank you for putting into words truths that I know in my heart to be true!
This world is not my home. I'm just passing through.
How very true! 😊
The kindest things can happen passing through; Jesus showed us that.
My treasures are laid out, somewhere beyond the blue.
@michaeldarlak6583 your pist and my reply are lyrics to song! Really! We sang it in our Sunday school class, when I was high school age. Title: This World is not My Home by Jim Reeves.
That song was running through my head during the whole video.
What an awesome message!
I've often "felt" a sort of aversion to the "un-christ-like" subtext between the lines in certain arguments all of my life, and this message clearly points to that disturbing "veil" that I'm only beginning to become aware of...thank you for shining the light.
You know what the great Christian awakenings literally are? Woke.
The irony burns.
Compassion for all unfortunates to the rich, all people, aware of life and love.
Oh, snap!
I always appreciate your insight!
Thank you, Pastor!!!
Period. AMEN.
A veil? More like they're wearing White Cone shaped Hoods. 💯👊🙏
Amen and Amen my Brother !!!
I pray your all well and doing well and have Gods blessings and Joy the whole year through. William from Illinois
Amen Father Amen!
Excellent and enlightening word. Thank you for using the scripture when making your points.
Amen!
Please forgive them. Their well has been poisoned.
Ive pondered the question quite lengthly, and come to the conclusion its not God not pulling back the blinders, but people willfully being blinded in their own free will.
Said perfectly.
God bless you for speaking truth to power....Jesus did!
Much love!
Mondays and Wednesdays at 12 EST in the US. Saturday Compline 7:30pm EST.. WELCOME ABOARD! it’s a cheerful, welcoming group.
@@FireElement7 Thanks. That is helpful. I have Wednesday mornings at 9AM and Saturdays at 4:30 PM PST. But I keep on seeing other live broadcasts. Maybe it's because of the holidays?
@@Mr22thou Monday got added.
Oh. The donations were requested by the chat participants who wanted to help support the ministries of feeding the hungry, the homeless, and hungry college students that Father Ed works on. Basically, casting our bread upon the waters of hungry people.
Amen brother
You are making so much sense, and it is so refreshing to hear -- thank you Rev.
Amen!!!Well said !! Thanks Rev Ed For the Comforting Wisdom... God Bless 🕊️
Amen!! Yes! and Thanks!
❤
spot on
Thank you
Being religious is not the same as christian
I always thought that America was founded on religious freedom.
No it was not. It was for freedom away from tyrants.
It all depends upon who is doing the talking, right?
The reason they had to add the first ten amendments ( additions) to the proposed constitution was to add a bill of rights, which included that the government shall not establish a religion or interfere with the free exercise of religion.
@@ikeus685 Yes... freedom means having a choice, not being told the religion to follow by dictate of a government.
I profess Christianity, but I would never force my beliefs on anyone.
Christ himself would not have been "white" , , , I kept thinking of Simon of Cyrene who relieved Christ in carrying His cross . . . the color of our skin has nothing to do with our faith. LOVE is all that matters.
They also fire their pastor when he says things that they don't like to hear. This one reason why intelligent people run from organized religion.
This depends upon church organization. Not all congregations hire and fire their own pastors.
Those which do obviously hinder the pastor’s ability to shepherd (given otherwise good shepherds).
Agreed
Is that the Baptists doing that? The Evangelicals? The Pentecostals? That's not how the Anglicans, Orthodox, or Catholics get their pastors. The congregation doesn't vote them in or out, as if they were a politician.. 😬
The Holy Spirit can remove the veil over the eyes
Amen ❤
Amen
I LOVE the title of this one....
The lens of love!!!❤
Amen brother 🙏
Amen.
It is a veil of their choosing.
Amen🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’ve never even heard of “white nationalism” 😢😢😢
Thank you. The 43,000 souls are in my heart.
All of our neighbors
love as yourself
Thank you ❤Amen!
Amen.
Amen and Amen!
My own belief says that the veil will be lifted from the verses when you are READY for the understanding. The ah ha will happen when you are ready to understand the scripture when GOD feels you are ready to handle the understanding. AMEN 🙏
Amen to this💫
"My Kingdom is not of this world"
Some guy who supposedly mattered.
Praise to Christ not man
Excellent
It's just sad.
They live in Old Testament which means they have not accepted Jesus sacrafice.
So, where do they find forgiveness for their sins if not from Jesus Christ??
By living a sinless life according to Jewish traditions? 600 plus Rabbinical laws along with the laws of Moses??
@@ikeus685 if they are like Trump, they’ve never needed to ask for forgiveness because they’ve never done anything wrong.
Matthew 3;15-16But Jesus answered and said to him, "permit it to be so now for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness."
vs 16When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediatelt from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alight upon Him. vs 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying,
"This is My beloved Son, in whom Iam well pleased."
Chapter 4:1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
I do believe God will remove as ppl get closer to God. The Bible does say ppl will have waxed eyes. Ppl sadly hear themselves ,they think its from God.
When we spend time with God we learn to hear him.
First, seek the Kingdom of God.
The Kingdom of God is within you.
The Temple of God, is your body.
Without words a communion of love from one's heat-self
The USA is not America by itself. FYI America is the America Continent. It goes from Alaska all the way to Chile. USA means United States "OF" America, meaning it belongs to America, the America Continent, meaning that myself being from Mexico, someone from Chile and a Canadian are American too!!
Excellent point!
I want the scripture to tell me that [ insert something wrong] is right. Nope. Not how it works.
😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
"... anymore!" you said (poetically!!!)
A distinction very few ancient texts and writings attempt to make ... I am told, cuz that'd be a LOT of reading for me to do by myself !?!?!?
The distinction being ... we used to "need" it, but we don't need it (as you say) anymore.
Love Ya Rev !!!
“Jesus/GOD taught us to ‘Love thy neighbor’, not dominate thy neighbor. Instead of posting the Ten Commandments in every classroom, why don’t they post, ‘Money is the root of all evil’ in every boardroom? Why don’t they post, ‘Do not judge’ in every courtroom? Why don’t they post, ‘Turn the other cheek’ in the halls of the Pentagon? Why don’t they post, ’It’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into the kingdom of heaven’ on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange? Christian Nationalists are not interested in legislating Christian values, they are only interested in legislating Christian dominance.” - James Talarico ; I’d love to see this kid run for President 2028!
