Debbi from Cincinnati here~ I felt horrible on Christmas Day and went to the clinic on the 26th. Diagnosis was a sinus infection. My ears were whooshing, headache, teeth hurt, vertigo, I felt like my eyes were wobbling. I am not someone who runs to the doctor for every sniffle, but I was so glad to get an antibiotic! I feel your pain Brother. God bless!
Rev., I TOTALLY understand because I'm dealing with the exact same thing! A HORRIBLE sinus infection, that truly feels evil. I've been on antibiotics and may need more. Been sick since Christmas Eve. I've never had a sinus infection THIS bad before. It started with laryngitis. My nose has not stopped being gross for days. My whole head hurts constantly unless I take pain meds for it. This truly is SOMETHING else. God bless you, brother!
Sinus infections are miserable. Use ice water compacts to help reduce inflammation. Warm compresses to help the discomfort. And sniff warm salt water up your nose. I've had quite a few. I truly hope you feel better. And this is a terrific message.
I had those for years. What finally worked is flushing them out with salt water. Here we can buy sort of a horn that allows to do that. Fill it up with lukewarm water then add a certain amount of salt and mix. There is a little scoop to get just the right amount. Did that three times a day for a week and never had the problem again.
I worked in a neurosurgical ICU with acute head injuries. We also treated people whose sinus infections had developed into dangerous illnesses. Take care of yourself! I also got the broader message about empathy, sympathy and forgiveness.
Every difficult, painful, frightening thing that’s happened, even betrayal in marriage, God has used to open my heart more and more. Useful, but I wish God could do it through a Hallmark card.
I used to have them chronically when I was a teenager, Rev. Eventually had to have a benign cyst surgically removed. "Death warmed over" is an apt metaphor. Hope yours is a one-off experience!
My brother-in-law got so many sinus infections he had to go get surgery on his sinuses to try and stop them! After seeing what he went through I hope you don't have to go that route! Get well soon Reverend
Dear Rev Ed, I never thought that I would be commenting on sinus infections! I used to live within the city’s air shed loaded with pollution from pulp mills! On average, I ended up needing antibiotics about three times a year to combat them! They worked! The pollution has diminished somewhat, but my “salvation” from suffering was moving several km away and to a higher altitude!
The daughter I live with suffers from chronic sinusitis, and it's particularly gruesome for her when an episode hits... she's actually had to go to the emergency room for those major antibiotics n such. Sympathetic hugs, gentle Teacher. 😥😥😥
Sorry about your sinus infection! I'm pretty prone to them myself. They don't go away without antibiotics in many cases, so do let it go without seeing a doc! Feel better soon and thank you for the beautiful message.
Hope you feel better soon. Let yourself rest. For what it's worth, I went through something similar with alcohol poisoning. A buddy of mine couldn't drink alcohol after spending the day after his 21's throwing up while in formation (he was a Marine reservist). I'd give him a hard time, not too serious or anything. Always respected it. And when I went through the same thing myself (by my own choice) and ended up in the same spot, I immediately apologized to him. I can at least handle beer, wine, and cocktails. I just can't drink straight hard alcohol. Been in that position for 20 years. I haven't given him a hard time about it even jokingly since. Though if I did, he'd have the comeback of "you too." Final note: Holing ontp (hate/anger/resentment/etc) is like drinking poison hoping that it will hurt the other person.
You poor guy... your description of how you feel immediately made me think of the song, "Sledgehammer"! I retired from Medicine years ago and excuse me for "advising you" to get more rest right now! I know, I know if it were only that easy... prayers "headed" your way! Thank you and may Jesus bless you for your dedication!🙏✝️🕊️ 💜
First, I had a build up of fungus in a couple of my right-side sinus' that resulted in a series unbelievably painful headache in October of last year. I ended up going to the ER. It wasn't the usual kind of sinus infection that most people suffer from, nor was it quite like what the Reverend described, but it was close enough for me to develop greater empathy. And empathy is definitely a good thing in the world. Fortunately, sinus surgery restored my sinus' to those of my youth. Second, for clarity sake, empathy is "The ability to understand and share another person's emotions. It's a way to relate to someone by putting yourself in their shoes." Because I've emotionally felt similarly to another person, I can feel compassion for them. Compassion is "The desire to help someone who is suffering. It's an emotional response to empathy or sympathy that motivates action." And if I'm not mistaken, Jesus said something about developing compassion because everyone has or is struggling with something, even if it's not exactly the same as yours. So, I'm not sure I need to connect with another person's pain to practice compassion. Though it's certainly helpful. My wife told me about a bumper sticker she saw on the back of a city bus that read "Be Kind. Everyone is Going through Something you can't see." That's a good one to put inside the car as well as outside.
The expression I use when I'm feeling absolutely horrible is "I feel like Death warmed over with a side of fries". Somehow, having a side makes it seem even worse!😁 When you look at it objectively, empathy is the only way our species has survived this far. Starting with the family unit, moving through extended family, clan, village, town, city, province (or state), country it has been through empathy and cooperation that we have advanced. Human babies by the standards of the rest of the animal kingdom are at risk for an incredibly long time. The only way to survive is with communal support. Communal support simply won't work without empathy. The breakdown we're starting to see in many countries can be linked to suppressing our natural instinct for empathy. For "reasons" this is especially evident in wealthy "first world" countries. These are the very countries where taking care of each other should be easier, not harder but the constant belittling by the powerful of simple empathy means that the marginalized get further marginalized instead of the help that they need. Not only are we better than this, we KNOW this. It's in our bones. The powerful decry "globalization" and spend all of their time segregating people into the "worthy" and the "unworthy". We need to fight against this and the best way is to follow our instinctual empathy.
I feel for you. I had a sinus infection years ago, and I felt miserable. The doctor had put me on antibiotics, but it took me a good week to get over it. Speedy recovery.
I hope you feel better soon 💚 💚 💚 I have a high tolerance of pain from the neck down, but if the pain is in my head I have a hard time dealing with it.
Empathy is feeling it without going through it yourself _right now_ . I have empathy for the ostracized and neglected because of what I have experienced in my past, even if I'm not experiencing it right at the moment that I see it happening to someone else. You _will_ have better empathy going forwards, in part because you have experienced this now.
Get well soon, Reverend Ed 🙏 I am praying for a quick and full recovery. Try boiling a pot of water with herbs like peppermint and eucalyptus. Then put your head over the pot with a towel over your head. Slowly inhaling steam helps break up the blocked mucous. 🙏
I swear by nasal saline every few hours and ibuprofen, drainage is key for prevention. However at your stage it usually takes a Zpac. ❤🤗I hope you feel better soon. We all care about you.
I've had sinus issues since I was 8 years old (1959) and my mom would give me a Dristan (remember that?) and iced tea and let me sleep (no joke) until I felt better or woke up...I still have seasonal issues and DRISTAN was banned, I think....Sinus issues are no way WEAKNESS....we can't drill holes in our heads to be able to breathe....your videos always give me something to think about outside my head...for that I bless you Rev Ed....
Sending you many prayers 🙏🙏🙏. I have suffered with too many sinus infections, to the point i have lost my voice!! I have a dilemma that I do not know how to pray for. I have 2 brothers who used to be very close. Now the oldest brother claims to be a Christian, but has no empathy, mercy, just does not have the heart of a Christian. My 2nd brother is Agnostic, but does have the heart of a Christian. He would like us to all get together as a family ( family reunion, there are not many of us). But my oldest brother is against this because my 2nd brother is not a Christian. I mentioned to my oldest brother that even Jesus loves and has compassion for all, but he then gets angry with me. I am trying to give this to God and asking Him to please help sort this out so my two brothers can get back together again despite how each other believes. Can I ask for prayers from this group here about this too, please?. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
😢 have you tried the old method of a cup of salt in boiling water and breath in the vapepers? The salt sort of cleans and numbs it. Similar to how one would gargle salt water to clear a sore throat. The salt can help numb the sinuses. ❤ I hope you feel better soon. Any head colds make it harder to think and frustration and head pain are very annoying. You are just a lovely teacher and you do make a difference
Good talk. Empathy is one of our super powers if we choose to embrace it. As for the sinuses, I feel your pain. Two Ibuprofen and one Tylenol every four hours. Chew on some crystalized ginger, it has anti-inflammatory properties and will ease a sore throat as well. Get well soon, Rev. Ed, you are loved by many and we are praying for you.
Having had such infections i can understand and emphasize with you. I also have had sinus infections with polyps on both sides and with an infection the facial pain and I can tell you that I know what a ten in on the 1 to 10 scale doctors use. I was able to do one simple thing: I prayed for everyone I could think of. It doesn't matter whether or not your pain is greater than or worse than mine. That's just an unhelpful. comparison. What matters is only that I recognize that you are in pain and its a pain level that you have not experienced before. We moved to Albuquerque for the climate but have had painful injuries where the level get very high. I have a real problem when someone says "I can feel your pain" No they can't that's ridiculous. I can't feel theirs either! but I can have empathy with the knowledge that someone's in pain. I never make comparisons just try to do what is compassionate to help. Having a personal relationship with pain can give great insights into compassion. I keep a statues of Chuan Yin in several places in the house because she is an entity that Buddhists have to represent compassion. I hope that you get better as I know you must suffer greatly. My prayers will be with you.
just an add: There is one ting that is a benefit to going through pan and suffering as I have had its that you can come to realize that that no one can do anything to hurt you more than you all ready have been hurt. There is a real comfort in that. I have become unafraid. It does increase the compassion I feel those around me who are in pain. But from where I sit I have taken it as lessons from God and so I feel I have a better quality of life than 95% of the people around me. I am 79 now and still find great joy in my life.
I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. I hope you get better soon. Maybe take some time off to take care of yourself, and I can only speak for myself, I don't plan on going anywhere.
Real Men™ don't cry so they don't know how your face hurts. -quote from a True Scotsman. Empathy has physiological effects on the body. It's real and can by measured. I don't think I have to practice being more empathetic, I need to understand the forces that inhibit it. An example might be denying feelings of empathy because of a perceived sign of weakness.
Rev please go to the doctor. Sinus infections can be severe and you just can’t get over them. Please go see your doctor or to the emergency room. Do you have a sinus rinse pot? We call them Netty Pots here in the US. Do you have electric vaporizer?
Nasal pain is horrible, I suffer from mcs and fragrances cause make me feel like I'm allergic to life and I live isolated from people to avoid the pain. Praying for you 🙏
Sure cure for sinus infection. I'll probably get some flak for posting this, but it works, it's harmless, is worth a try. I've been dealing with recurring sinus infections for years. Antibiotics doesn't work. This works: saline with a small amount of hydrogen peroxide. I use the saline made for contact lenses, it's cheap and safe. Get a sinus spray bottle, empty the ingredients, rinse the bottle with saline. Put a cap full of hydrogen peroxide in the sinus spray bottle, fill the rest with saline. Spray it in your sinuses, twice a day. If you can get a good amount in, and then tip your head way down so it flows into the various sinus cavities, it will work faster. Infection will be gone in one to three days.
You are probably one of my favorite preachers of all time. But telling certain 'fake' sides of northern American issues very conceivably could lead to secret organization 'dim' viewpoints. I know NOTHING(really) except the lack of character of power hungry men. If you are genuine you are almost a saint. Not in the sense of perfection which is 'impossible'. But in being a true believer in the real gospel. Thank you, Rev Ed.
I don't trust anyone, preacher or not, who says empathy is a bad thing. It tells me a lot about them. Sinus problems are literally a pain and can have some weird side-effects. I've got a sinus problem going on right now that hasn't been painful but does seem like it might be the root cause of something that has been going on with my left eye.
Bro...mix n sniff salt water, up, from teaspoon..seriyaas, not pleasent, but worth it. Lived with it..inland, then swimming in ocean..brought me a "miracle". Now im a beach bum 😎✌️✊🙏👌
Ed...really, it works. I worked 3200m undeground.. n daily, with THAT problem, u can only try imagine pain it cost, dropping from thousands of feet above sea level to couple more below it!! In minutes. Salt water BEFORE solved what would've ended my career...sooner than rascist BEE policies/retrenchment did...salt h²o WAS Father sent..to me..🙏😌
Sorry you've got the feeling of cement in your face. The sinuses go around the eyes and cheeks. Hope you can get some effective ABX, rest, and hot soup ❤
I just heard that Trudeau is resigning this week. Please tell me that Canadians have learned a lesson from watching Trump and they're not going to repeat the same disastrous error?
Better check your definitions - while sympathy is a feeling of sincere concern for someone who is experiencing something difficult or painful, empathy involves actively sharing in the emotional experience of the other person.
.. mankind's to lose his natural affections/empathy..sad REALITY..thats at least a cog in systems CREATION of what we enduring..via our subservience to 2cor4v4..not love, TRUTH..a generalized view phaps..but, based in FAITH, of the word...n compliance to Ezekiel 33v6, instead ✊✌️⌛⚖️🪤😶🌫️
Rev. Ed, for years I suffered with a deviated septum and a nasal polyp that led to chronic sinus infections. The key is tea tree oil. There is a great video on how to use it for nasal polyps BUT the same general method works for most sinus problems
Could be molds, or mosses, could be bum upper tooth leaking sepsis, (normal mouth bacteria) into sinus cavity. Too much sepsis is not good. Black molds, grey moss, green moss, or other fungi. We have had a lot of wet bulb weather, here in Texas, the last 18 months and the mosses are out of control, on the side walk, the trees, on the roofs, even on brick walls. Water activates it all. This is why we know there was primodal soup. And it's still going on in front us.
We could say that you understand now. And the next time someone mentions their sinus infection, you will empathize. Here's the tricky part: you will want to talk about your experience instead of listening to theirs. And if it happens they'll probably understand where your heart is. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
my granddaughter had a sinus infection for te last 4 weeks and still having issues and a rootcanal at the same time. I noticed your strain last night. I'm so sorry for anyone going through tough times on every level, pain, grief, poverty and empathize - I love you Fr Ed, you have given comfort and established a space to grow in empathy. I am amazed with the community you have grown because of your no judgement and acceptane of us all❤🩹 healing many aching spirits
Sinus infections are horrendous. It’s one of those things that you can’t ignore because it’s literally “in your face!” I hope it clears up as quick as possible. The pain is nothing to sneeze at 😷🤕❤️
Sinus infections are pretty awful. Sending you 🙏🏼🙏🏼 for a quick recovery ❤️🩹

I went to the dentist once thinking I'd need a root canal or something, but it was just the pressure from a sinus infection.

Neti pot, yup.
Preventive nasal irrigation FTW.
Boiled or purified water
@@margaretb Depends on where you live. Here in Belgium it is not strictly necessary. Our tapwater is great.
Yes! Neti pot with purified salt water. Very helpful indeed.
@@verrezen So is the beer - but not for nasal ingestion. 😉

Empathy gives an understanding of thoughts 💭 that are quite alien 👽 and even hostile 😤...
In my mind, empathy is everything..
I’ve had several sinus infections. Not for the faint of heart. Can be incredibly nasty. Praying for your speedy recovery! 🙏🏻✝️👼🏻💗
Feel better soon Rev Ed! Sinus congestion, headaches & infections are no joke! They hurt & make you feel awful.

Just think 🤔 Spring 🌾 💐 🥀is coming. Ah, the joys of hay fever 🤒, right after recovering from winter ❄️ colds 🥶!!!
Aw, sinus infections are awful. I had one about this time last year. Hope you feel better soon, Reverend.
I thing I hate most about being in pain is when some nurse asks how it rates on scale of 1 to 10? Hey, it hurts enough to admit it.
Sending prayers your way

But from where I sit I have taken it as lessons from God and so I feel I have a better quality of life than 95% of the people around me. I am 79 now and still find great joy in my life.
Yes. It knocks you out! I’ve had a sinus infection for 3 weeks. 2 different antibiotics. And still not through it.
Thank you
Use a neti pot with a sailene/salt water mix makes a big difference.
I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. I hope you get better soon. Maybe take some time off to take care of yourself, and I can only speak for myself, I don't plan on going anywhere.
🙏🫂
Prednisone and antibiotics. Lots of water too.
Agree - get to the doctor, please.
Nasal pain is horrible, I suffer from mcs and fragrances cause make me feel like I'm allergic to life and I live isolated from people to avoid the pain. Praying for you 🙏
Multiple sinus infections can lead to inner ear damage. I know because it happened to me.😬
Sure cure for sinus infection.
I am sick as well. On steroids and using inhaler.
URGENT: Brandon Biggs had a Visitation from Lord Jesus with a Message for All: “One Last Call!”
I got a sinus infection once. Worse than covid!
Thank you Rev Ed. Do you by chance have have allergies?
Bro...mix n sniff salt water, up, from teaspoon..seriyaas, not pleasent, but worth it.
Lived with it..inland, then swimming in ocean..brought me a "miracle".
Now im a beach bum 😎✌️✊🙏👌
Ed...really, it works.
I worked 3200m undeground.. n daily, with THAT problem, u can only try imagine pain it cost, dropping from thousands of feet above sea level to couple more below it!! In minutes.
Salt water BEFORE solved what would've ended my career...sooner than rascist BEE policies/retrenchment did...salt h²o WAS Father sent..to me..🙏😌
You should be asleep. Get well soon!
Sorry you've got the feeling of cement in your face. The sinuses go around the eyes and cheeks. Hope you can get some effective ABX, rest, and hot soup ❤
You're in Canada. Go to a doctor! They can help you.
Empathy about a lack of Empathy? 🙂
YOU NEED ANTIBIOTICS. REV ED. not Tabasco s, cayenne or anything like that. Antibiotics. Sinus pressure is terrible. 💯🇨🇦✨💫🌙☀️🌟💙🕊️🤍🕯️
my granddaughter had a sinus infection for te last 4 weeks and still having issues and a rootcanal at the same time. I noticed your strain last night.
