Oh Father Mike, you may not realize it but you get better and better with age. I wish there was someone so gifted when I was an adolescent and young adult. My life might’ve been a little bit easier. No I am not fine. But I’m working on it.
Current EMT/Paramedic student here. Took a break from studying to listen to this; only for Fr. Mike to assess me and find that I am AOx1 spiritually. Thank you for the laugh and for the the insight.
I always answer that: "I'm ok". And I'm not always ok. But I thank God every single morning for being alive and healthy. Some days my cross weighs a ton, but I then think how much weighed Christ's cross on His broken body going up to Calvary, and I just stop whining and carry on.
@@mpkropf5062It’s not a sin to keep what you’re feeling to yourself. Most people don’t really want a truthful answer to the question, “how are you?” It’s just easier to say, “fine.”

@ccbarr58 as long as we are respecting others' boundaries as well. I don't believe this is your issue, but some people feel almost as if they have the right to dump their problems on others, and others are supposed to help them or bare their burdens with them just because. That can be pretty selfish and inconsiderate.

Fr. Mike, I always say I'm fine but I'm usually not. I just don't want to burden others. I keep my guard up because I know I'm a sinner and who really wants to hear my life problems. I don’t think most people really want the truth. We all suffer and none of us are fine. I have no problem listening to peoples issues. People open up to me. I do tell God my problems and about all of my brokenness. Jesus knows me. I try to join my sufferings to Jesus and repent being a vile sinner constantly trying to ammend my life. I pray I get it right. You said we are all called to be saints. I pray I can become an unknown saint for God.I don’t know if I'm wrong by telling everyone I'm fine because I'm the care taker. Father, you are 100% correct. My husband passed away 2 months ago and as a young widow, all I can say is that I'm ok or fine because I know that I am not ok right now, but through faith, prayer, meditation, and the church, I will be ok. ❤❤❤❤

Thank you Father Mike, that was perfect. When my friends ask me how l l.am, l always say I'm okay & they say "just ok?" & I say, yup, can't get past that. Thanks for your sermon, God bless & Merry Christmas Father.🙏🎄
What you say to all that listen to you really does make a difference. I have been listening to you this last year and I honestly never felt the need to comment. But. Some people just don’t want to say when it’s not okay. That, No, my holiday sucked.. I was alone .. or my family was fighting… or whatever it may have been . It doesn’t necessarily mean that they don’t know that God loves them and that they are not alone. It just sometimes is exactly what it is for the moment.
I always say I'm fine, even when I am not, because this is my battle and I fight this alone. God before me, Christ beside me, the Holy Spirit behind me. I have to be strong for others. No one cares and that is ok because I know Jesus does. The Lord is my strength and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?
I just don’t think certain people really care how I’m doing so “I’m fine” is the greatest lie answer I can give, because I know we will just move on to another topic. I’m blessed to have first, my husband and second, one very good friend who knows when I’m “not fine” and we can talk plainly about it, about how our faith can help us through those “not fine” times. Our blessed Mother and devotion to her has really helped me get through my “not fine-ness” as she just taught me how to love Jesus more, and know that I really am fine, a fine child of God, warts and all.😊❤️🙏 Thank you Fr Mike for listening to and acting on the voice of the Holy Spirit to preach and teach us all about the love of God.
No, I just hide it really well… 42, not married, no kids, no family, a job with no potential, no direction in life. Depression to say the least! I 🙏 daily to the 📿 but nothing changes.
Keep putting one foot in front of the other. Pray. It took me until I was 51 to get there and then a few other things came along and reminded me how much more work I needed to do you will get there. I know it seems like a lot of work, but you will reach the point when you will get there and it will all be worth it
Keep praying throughout the day, pray the rosary and ask for Mother Mary’s intercession and ask Him to reveal to you each day what He needs you to do, see and how you can be His hands and feet to His people.
I usually answer like you do. Once in awhile , depending on who asks, I will say something like, meh, not bad. Or, oh hanging in there. I am not sure how many people want to really know and I am not sure how many people I really want to know. But I like the idea of considering how I really am upon being asked. It's a good thing to ponder. There is also something to be said for positive thinking and using enthusiasm as you do @ritagonzalez8081
My pet peeve is when people ask me "What's up?" or "How are you?" ;) I'm sad that they don't care enough to come with any topic to start a meaningful talk, showing that they remember anything about my life - what I do, what I was dealing with at work, what I've been planning to do when we met previously, where I've been, what I was suffering from or what I was excited about. And I sometimes wish for an opportunity to open honestly to someone caring and say that I'm not fine. So I when I hear "what's up?" I answer "nothing". No effort question -> no effort answer.
This may depend on the customs of whichever country you live in, and the person you’re interacting with, but my dad once made the following remark: how funny it is, that when people ask you how you are doing, they are already expecting you to answer: ‘I’m fine, thank you’. As if another answer would be rude.
Love Father Mike ❤ Modern Philosophy is wrong about our relationships. The "other" is not Hell. The "other" is a human being made in the image of God, worthy of Salvation and Eternal Life, a being that the fallen Angels were so Jealous of they abandoned God... and making friendships and relationships and loving the "other" like Christ is a COMMANDMENT, to ignore it.. is to ignore Our Blessed Lord.
I hate when people ask bc I'm doing terrible but I don't wanna say that out loud. Sometimes I say good to be polite but it's not true. It seems like my worst days I get asked 🙄ofc
Realistically most times "How ya doin?" is just a greeting- people don't really care to hear your troubles, nor do I care to share my troubles with everyone!
My husband passed away unexpectedly 4 months ago. I am definitely NOT fine. Then within those 4 months several other things have happened to me and I can’t take any more. I would say I’m at my rope’s end, but honestly I lost track of the end of my rope. The end of my rope has been gone for a while and I can’t even see it any more. I’m way past the end of my rope. Life I’d definitely not ok at all.
Get busy for Christ by getting involve at church. Do volunteering if you have spare time. The church has ministries we can involve in. To be honest, sometimes I feel like I will be able to do so many things I like being single than having a husband since he has to come first - like going on a mission. I do volunteer at church being an assistant to catechist and sing with the choir. There is such a thing as single-blessedness God bless you.
Father Mike- You have a gift for speaking & teaching the young people. I would like to recommend that you wear the priest cassock. Unfortunately, the black suit makes you look like a Deacon.
To me, a lot of time, I am not in touch with God and myself, resulting in not being able to answer, "How are you?" I am fine, usually means I am "freak out, irritated, neurotic, and exhausted. "😅 Yet, I always say to Lord, "never leave me, never let me be away from you no matter what."
What to answer when a person who never understands you asks you how are you? You know that she/he thinks is always right in his / her opinions regarding your situations and you must follow those opinions even when you don't feel comfortable with it😊!!
Only be direct with people who mean well with you. With others be truthful, but vage and positive. For example: instead of answering: i'm struggling with education, work and familiy, because it overwhelms me! Just say: 'oh, i'm always busy😊' Talk to them about the things that are more positive. In that way those people can remind you of the things that are indeed more positive in your life, and help you get into a more positive mindset. Through this, these people can still be a tool for God to help you through life😊
I appreciate Father Schmitz and his bubbly personality/style and it is certainly needed to get through to some types of people. But his complaint here, though it has a point, makes me think there is a lot of the "Extroverted American" to it. There are many Europeans, maybe esp. Germans? who are taken aback at the "loud, exuberate American," so, Father, remember, you may be talking to some European who just came over for the first time. 😂
"I'm fine" I might be that dog saying "this is fine" while surrounded by flames, but yeah.... It's fine. The reason people say "I'm fine" or some other non-answer is because often when they tell people how they really are doing people don't want to know. They just want to give the appearance of caring. Would it be a better answer to say "I really would rather not talk about how I am, or how my break was."
We dont think we are fine. At least I know Im not. But reality is nobody wants the real answer. The expected response is Im fine because people do not actually care if you arent.
Me prior to 2022 = Not fine because the Catholic Faith I have practiced all my life has become at best, Protestantized, and at worst, Paganized. Me after 2022 = I am fine because I found the SSPX and I don't have to see my Catholic Faith made a mockery by Priests like Fr. Mike. God Bless Archbishop Lefebvre!
Being saved isn’t a once and done thing. Protestants have led many down the wrong path. To be saved, you must be Baptized, free from mortal sin, and have faith in Jesus Christ. It is possible to lose your potential salvation by committing mortal (serious) sin. To believe you have already been saved is the sin of presumption. It’s not over till it over, and that’s at your particular judgment at death. You will be judged on your works, too, so that’s another aspect. In Acts 2, when St. Peter is preaching at Pentecost, his hearers ask what they must do to be saved, and he replies, “Repent and be baptized.” In 1 Peter 3, Noah’s ark is referred to as a type of baptism, and Peter writes, “In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you-not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Pet. 3:20-21). When Nicodemus comes to visit Jesus by night, Jesus says that a person cannot enter the kingdom of God without being born again. Nicodemus asks how a man might enter again into his mother’s womb and Jesus corrects him, saying, “No one can enter the kingdom of heaven unless he is born of water and the Spirit” (John 3:3-5). From the earliest days of the Church this passage has been understood to refer to baptism, and this interpretation is virtually unanimous down through history. Then there’s the story of the Philippian jailer in Acts 16. The jailer cries out, “What must I do to be saved?” and Paul and Silas reply, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved-you and your household” (Acts 16:31). It seems there is no demand for baptism. However, actions speak louder than words because verse 33 says that “immediately they were baptized.” Baptism therefore seems to be the way one makes the faith commitment. This is just one example from the Acts of the Apostles where faith is accompanied by baptism, and it is assumed that both are necessary. Two other clear accounts are Philip’s encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8, and Peter’s immediate baptism of Cornelius and his household in Acts 10. The pattern in Acts is consistent: preaching, repentance of the hearers, belief in Christ, and immediate baptism. Why would this be the case if the apostles did not believe that baptism was both effective and necessary for salvation? There is so much more, but you hopefully see the connection. And, don’t forget, “For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead!” James 2:26

@JerryGossttjr Yes, that is the most important question 🙏😇❤! I hope, especially Catholics will start to listen to THAT question! I keep on praying.......
Father Mike.. You honestly hit a nerve with your opening statements. What bothers you… some times it is what is bothering them. It may be that it wasn’t a great holiday or break for them. They may not have spent time with their families, friends and loved ones. Or it may have been a truly negative experience with whomever. They may not love having everyone around ask them as the holidays end, and in turn become less receptive to responding with a sincere answer.
As a practicing Catholic , I do NOT like this guy. He appeals to low level ignorant Catholics. He’s an Instagram priest. I do not see the Holy Spirit in him AT ALL.
@newtexan1 As a practicing Catholic this “guy” has done so much for so many people. Also, a reminder, he’s a priest.. a little more respect. let’s remember who our priests represent. The best thing you can do for Fr. Mike is pray for him, rather than judge him. Also, remember that WE cannot judge hearts, only God can. His personality might just not fit in with yours. I’ll link a video of revelations JESUS made to Mutter Vogel about priests. th-cam.com/video/4CxBW5v4xvY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cVgUu_3ZJkYkCGhx
So Mike, tell me; is your own organisation doing okay? How is it dealing with the constant scandals involving paedophile priests in the Catholic church? I'd love to hear your views on that...

Its ok not to be okay.
No, I just hide it really well… 42, not married, no kids, no family, a job with no potential, no direction in life. Depression to say the least! I 🙏 daily to the 📿 but nothing changes.
God Bless You, may you find Peace.

This is me
Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Even when I'm not fine and people ask How are you doing I always say I'm good I smile and say it with a lot of enthusiasm to make it believable.
I needed this today. Thank you.
Fr. Mike, my line. 🙏 Thanks 💞
I wanted to meet you father Mike in person in LA! Hopefully I get to meet you one day.
My pet peeve is when people ask me "What's up?" or "How are you?" ;)
I'm sad that they don't care enough to come with any topic to start a meaningful talk, showing that they remember anything about my life - what I do, what I was dealing with at work, what I've been planning to do when we met previously, where I've been, what I was suffering from or what I was excited about.
"I'm doin" that's me. I do not think people care anymore 😢
@jawz You're right! And because you have to be really careful what to tell others about you! How come?
Fr Mike is such a total Chad 😎
Amen
Realistically most times "How ya doin?" is just a greeting- people don't really care to hear your troubles, nor do I care to share my troubles with everyone!
I'm not ok and you're not ok but that's ok.
But when someone asks if I’m ok, it’s just a greeting/expression. The person asking isn’t truly interested in my problems. That’s reality.
What we think...... we become... Jesus says this over n over n over. So if i have to..yes i will lie how i am to become that what we wish.
I'm not fine. I wish I could be like you.
AMERICAS #1 CATHOLIC PRIEST ❤❤❤
My husband passed away unexpectedly 4 months ago. I am definitely NOT fine. Then within those 4 months several other things have happened to me and I can’t take any more. I would say I’m at my rope’s end, but honestly I lost track of the end of my rope. The end of my rope has been gone for a while and I can’t even see it any more. I’m way past the end of my rope. Life I’d definitely not ok at all.
You say you are ok or fine ... when you arent and don't want to worry anyone ....
There is such a thing as single-blessedness
God bless you.
But most times, people who ask you that question don't want to hear how you are really doing
Fr.MIKE about departed dear beloved friends how can we say love them🎉cause we cannot speak with the dead is a sin
🙏🙏🙏🙏
But i don't know who the President is right now. 😅
Seriously though, bless you Fr. Mike 🙏
I'm x2 on my best days. I work night shift in an ER...
Just say: 'oh, i'm always busy😊'
Talk to them about the things that are more positive. In that way those people can remind you of the things that are indeed more positive in your life, and help you get into a more positive mindset.
Through this, these people can still be a tool for God to help you through life😊
Some ask but dont really want to know unfortunatly. Sometimes I will respond with, do you really want to know or it's a long story. ❤🙏❤
❤😂
God laughs
I love this...but why is it sped up?
Hahahaha! (First time listening to Fr. Mike?) You can always use settings to slow it down.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to get fired for the second time this year… all I have left is Christ
I was raised to rub a little dirt on it and keep moving..whether I was fine or not is irrelevant
"how are you" - I'm fine ; "Are you really fine" - me: no.
To me I don't think Peter was rich. Anyway it was interesting.
People really aren't interested in how we are. Too much effort to care. Apathetic
Ok, then if I'm understand this right. In comparison to Jesus no one is fine. Then why even ask anybody how are you doing.
a better question would be are you saved do you know how to be saved

@@christianemutter2952 an important question. thats it? its just an important question i guess
I like this preaching style, but Joel Osteen might sue you.

Father Mike's personality is too nervous and too fast . He makes me feel uncomfortable .
He does speak rapidly. It's difficult to follow him if you have a hearing problem.
Everyone in Chicago and the eastern states speak fast...
The people in the western states speak very laid back.
That is life so don' t complain 😮🤐 😊
@@tomisamuels2590 You clearly don't have a hearing problem or empathy for those with hearing impairments.
As a practicing Catholic , I do NOT like this guy. He appeals to low level ignorant Catholics. He’s an Instagram priest. I do not see the Holy Spirit in him AT ALL.
Elaborate.
What
@newtexan1 As a practicing Catholic this “guy” has done so much for so many people.

So Mike, tell me; is your own organisation doing okay? How is it dealing with the constant scandals involving paedophile priests in the Catholic church? I'd love to hear your views on that...
Ugly comments come from ugly hearts.
@robin-kq7un Yes, I would hear his views on that, too!
He has spoken about that. Are you just trolling?
He's talked about that topic several times.
