Trying to get to the gig and then trying to get back home was another thing, eh kids?! Specials had a message. A message to youth. It's still relevant today. They came to my down just outside Edinburgh when they played there in the early 80's. I met Rico and Terry who were out for a walk overlooking the river beside their hotel in South Queensferry. They were so nice. Asked a thousand questions about Scotland and life. We are all just the same. You see, they met foreigners and we met foreigners and no harm was done. Teach this.
Man. I don’t wanna sound like an old head but fr I hate the fact that at live gigs these days everyone’s on their fucking phones filming and the crowd is deaaaad. These really were the fuckin days for live music. The energy was flowinggg
Pure Class band. In their early live shows half the crowd would get on the stage to dance with them, They encouraged this so everyone had a great time. This song was a vision of the future and in 2024 we are there.
saw them in Paris, about the same year, and the "national front" is still after me ! love to the Specials, one of the best concert in my whole life ......
My favourite band of all time, I fell in love with the specials way back in 1979 when i was 12 and i was on holiday in weston super mare and I've had the honour and privilege of seeing them loads of times over the years and one of my favourite gigs ever was during their 30th anniversary tour in June 2009 at the O2 academy at Brixton, My all time favourite song is "Do Nothing" I just wanted to say that "wherever you are Terry I hope that you have finally found the peace that you so deserve, i miss you so much and i still can't believe you are gone but you will never ever be forgotten, rest in peace Terry all my love Carol" xxxx ❤❤
😎I was 14 years old in 1979 and Just Entered High School (in South Florida, USA 🇺🇸)and Discovered The Specials & ◼️◻️2TONE Ska shortly after, and Listen Daily Ever Since 😎🥳
@@markweigel3301 Hi it's always good to hear from other fans especially from so far away as I'm in the UK, I've always loved ska and as I said in my original comment I fell in love with the specials in 1979 when i was 12, I'm also good friends with Christine sugary Staples she's the wife of Neville Staples from the specials, i still can't believe Terry has gone and i don't think I'll ever get used to it, all the best to you from Carol in Nottingham UK 🎧🎼🎤
@@markweigel3301Thank you so much for your reply and i absolutely agree 100% i also love Madness, The Beat and Selector, i also love a lot of the old Jamaican ska and also listen to it all the time, my all time favourite old Jamaican ska song is "It Mek" by Desmond Dekker 😎🎧🎼🎤❤❤❤❤
RIP Terry . Your spirit will continue to inspire many new musicians to come . Your on this earth still in my eyes . Love your songs still . :) ❤ your music is immortalized. You will live on forever in Two Tone ska history.
Utter chaos on stage, as the magnificent Specials, put on a grand show, amazing how they could still keep the song in tune with all that going on, shows how damn good they were🏁
Most of the credit for that goes to John Bradbury. He kept the beat on the drums, plus those rapid fire fills propelling the song forward. Without him, the song would've collapsed into a chaotic mess. Kudos also to Roddy Radiation for his lead guitar syncing in nicely with drums - and he also stayed out of the craziness up front.
2024 and can you believe I only heard this song for the first time this week on the radio - can’t believe it’s passed me by. It grabbed me straight away. Great that we can discover songs many years after they first game out. Still very poignant too sadly.
❤Hope the band are keeping well...my heart is always yours forever......don't think twice. that he is watching and loving it too! ❤ I still have your albums
Had a chance to see them in Toronto in 2019 and 2011. Such energy at both. The 2019 shows, back to back, sold out ones. So happy I saw them and RIH Terry
Hey tell me if you were there. Especially if you're one of those girls up front. I want to talk to you! Tell the world what seeing this incredible act in a small club was like!

Raw, edgy, and no auto tune. Just talent.
so embarrassing when people cry about autotune, who gives a fuck

This song was reflecting what was happening then, in the early 80's. It is so sad that it also reflects what is happening in 2024.
This is at a different level, pure quality. Three minutes capturing more raw energy than any gig has seen since.
More dangerous than any current era heavy metal or rap. Superb.

The reason we have ears ❤
Class…….. This is how live gigs should be….and no phones 👍👍👍 Keep on Skanking
No phones? There were thousands of them wherever you looked, all in red boxes and stinking of piss
This is really what the first cup of coffee feels like
Aren't you glad you rang that bell?
I know I am!
Was there with my mate....great night, great memories....😎

Is anybody listening to the baseline? Played in a band with walter beckers son in the early 90’s. We played this song at Chico state. Fn killed em!
Currently in the middle of learning this bass line, I got it down pretty much but I gotta work on my timing before I can nail it.
I only wish the World could have experienced the Specials live. Thank God I did. SKA music 🎵.
The specials excellent band with amazing vocals by the late great Terry Hall sadly not with us anymore 😢😢😢very sad news 🎤🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🥁🥁🎸🎸
Terry hall made me saved my life ❤

There's no way you could play this music and not dance around like a fool. I just love, love this footage.

The fire here is fantastic. So wish I could have seen them but was probably about 5-10 yrs late.
Amazing to see this in such quality after having it in such poor quality before. Fantastic stuff.

I never heard of these people. I came here looking for a Marley cover. I'm glad I saw this. Is "concrete jungle" a British thang?
This song needs a re release..
Got to get me some great ska tonight ❤
Terry Hall legend. RIP
If I'm honest, I'm not keen on living the rest of my life without Terry in it.
