Unfortunately they did know of her suffering and her dad and I believe a body guard both tried to help her into rehab but she left it and refused so she wouldn't get help but unfortunately addictions are hard to deal with for the addicted and the loved ones because the addicted has to realize the addiction and want to get help or nothing will work but RIP to her because she was a great talent

I definitely suggest diving into her Frank era to see what she could do in the jazz genre. She was a true jazz/blues diva through and through.
