Lyrics:
Fell in love with a girl
I fell in love once and almost completely
She's in love with the world
But sometimes, these feelings can be so misleading
She turns and says, "Are you alright?"
I said, "I must be fine 'cause my heart's still beating."
"Come and kiss me by the riverside, yeah
Bobby says it's fine, he don't consider it cheating, now."
Red hair with a curl
Mello-Roll for the flavor, and the eyes were peeping
Can't keep away from the girl
These two sides of my brain need to have a meeting
Can't think of anything to do, yeah
My left brain knows that all love is fleeting
She's just looking for something new, yeah
I said it once before, but it bears repeating now
Ah, ah
Ah, ah
Ah, ah
Ah, ah
Can't think of anything to do, yeah
My left brain knows that all love is fleeting
She's just looking for something new
Well, I said it once before, but it bears repeating now
Fell in love with a girl
I fell in love once and almost completely
She's in love with the world
But sometimes, these feelings can be so misleading
She turns and says, "Are you alright?"
I said, "I must be fine because my heart's still beating."
"Come and kiss me by the riverside, yeah
Bobby says it's fine he don't consider it cheating, now."
Ah, ah
Ah, ah
Ah, ah

Can't think of anything to do, yeah
My left brain knows that all love is fleeting
She's just looking for something new
Well, I said it once before, but it bears repeating now

I miss this band so much. The simplicity of their timeless music. ESP. Now more than ever
You should go listen those 60s garage bands
plenty of bands make music like this youre just out of touch
@@TheAstroTaco13 Please name three bands that are currently making the same impact on the music scene.
@@jeffdekimpe1746 same impact? no one mentioned the word impact or anything to do with cultural importance big brain. im just saying this sound never went away, just because its not as mainstream
@@TheAstroTaco13 haha you still haven’t named one band…
Nice to hear a band actually playing live on TOTP's.
So grateful I got to see them live 5 times.
Fr?
Your so damn lucky!
@@eerietoxicity you're
you're so freaking lucky
@@Duvli shut up
This band got me into playing instruments and singing with my sister many thanks to the white stripes!
Jack as soon as the music starts: PELLL IN LOVE WITH A GURRRRLLL
And obviously dont forget: SHES IN PUV WITH THE PUUURLLLLD
I PELL IN LOVE ONCE AND ALMOST COMPLETELY

I hope Meg White is having a good day
I see where she’s at . Or what she does for a living
@@lebronjames7041 hope your enjoying your Summer.
My unsolicited advice to ya??
Get plenty of rest and we’ll see ya in Fall!
@@lebronjames7041 your movie was shit
@@Hatchcaptain ye ye yeeee
@@discotequilasunset oh fr? Dam thats crazy
I love the Cole Porter break in the middle. Clever.
God rest john peel , this is just one of a long list of amazing artists I fell in love with thanks to him
Indeed my man, RIP The legend John Peel. I found The Cure through his 70’s sessions with them.
I love the little pause in the middle of the song, it just adds to the original so good
I swear to God Jack White is like a drug. The more exposure you get the more obsessed you get. And Meg is like the icing on the cake. Mind blowing raw charismatic creative awesomeness! Two beautiful souls making unforgettable musical history forevermore. The chemistry is off the charts. I also love the way they color coordinate their outfits and musical instruments. Thank God for the White Stripes!
Facts
Ok. He can't play. He's a hack on guitar. He can't sing. His "writing" is borrowing blues and punk riffs from years ago. Meg White drums like a wind up toy monkey. Are you really that easily pleased or did you just jump on the bandwagon? And after all those years Jack White is still a hack who has to bury his guitar in a wall of effects to try and hide his lack of skill.
The exquisite red, white & black cake :)
I'm glad I was around when all the good bands were playing. You know you can still get music by the Stones or the Kinks and hear real good music instead of this.
@@milt6208The Kinks by far better than The Stones imo but don't slag off The White Stripes, they were good. Jack is musically and lyrically gifted and and Meg complimented him. I'm 54, I love sixties music, but there have been great bands over the decades, like this one.
A group that’s 100% authentic and nothing else. Sophisticated, original, and catchy. Dig them 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Just some background info on Jack & Meg since their story is pretty legit:
They met before fame and got married. One day Jack was messing around with his music and coming up with riffs when he asked Meg to beat on the drum for him. He said in an interview that the way she got behind the drum set and started playing, it was so cool to him seeing her that way, that he decided he would start a band right then and there with her.
Before skyrocketing to fame however, they ended things but decided to remain close for the sake of the band they have just created. That’s why in interviews people would ask if they were brother and sister, they told everyone they were siblings so people would focus on their music and not just their label.
Edit: If you listen to “White Moon” , it’s a song Jack wrote… very beautiful
why did i think they were siblings lol
@@unintelligible3985 it’s ok I did too for like 8 years 😭
@@bruxea6517 if it makes y’all feel better, after they divorced Jack joked about her being his sister
Wtf, I only get to know now that they were not brother and sister 😂😂😂
Incidentally, one of Jack's biggest influences (Dexter Romweber, who fronted the Flat Duo Jets) had another band (the Dex Romweber Duo) with his own sister, Sara. But she didn't join until 2007.
Her drumming complimented his guitar playing so much
This is my favorite live version, so glad they uploaded it in higher quality
This band will be remembered forever 🛐
I got an ad for this vid and I'm beginning to listen to more of the white stripes.. this is all new to me
Such a tongue twister!!!
Even Jack has a little trouble with it at times
Lol
Great song
Great band
Thanks
I love that they played live, instead of lip syncing, even got a breakdown "rap" section, gotta love what they did!
It's not a rap. It's from another song. Listen to the lyrics and look it up. Ffs
@@deckheroesdeck2207 Ffs "rap" style delivery. Don't you have anything else to do but make stupid comments?
Thankfully I recognized the songs, here is the order:
Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love) - Ella Fitzgerald
Hang It On the Wall - Charly Patton
@@deckheroesdeck2207 but he does rap it no? No need to be an asshole
jack acts like he's insane when he sings this song and i honestly love it
About the time I saw them in concert in st louis, so awsome
PLEASE RELEASE THE FULL GLASTONBURY 2002 SET!
th-cam.com/play/PLOpiByN4Y6J0FtyT2Nrn-r3_NSmV9YvWi.html It's here, but not offical relased by The White Stripes
@@sparkle_jump_rope_queen Yeah I'm aware of that, but in HD, not potato quality
@@fraserlindsay8994 Who care about the quality?!?! It’s The White Stripes! 🔴⚪️🔴
@@eerietoxicity Yeah but, I don't wanna listen to something that is potato quality for most of the performances. I would settle for the quality of the dead leaves performance.
Just discovered the White Stripes recently, it's awesome to see the channel's still active!
where have you been for the last 16 years ? lol
I've been blessed to have been introduced to them years ago when I was only a kid. Happy to have new fans of one of the great rebirths of rock n' roll
@@cfbg No love lost
I discovered them in September 2007 just after the release of Icky Thumb. So I missed the release of all the albums except that I remember very well the release of 7NA. I fell in love with them in September 2007, much too late to follow their short career ...
@@TheMydoorbell short but monumental
Jack is still alive, well & kicking and making great music. Love him.
Meg White is awesome. I miss her.
These two still own my musical heart
You said the (re)union forever!
If only!
Saw them live in 2005, great concert with great friends!
Great way to start this morning :)
Yup
Great way to end a day because it's so late over here... gnight

A TOTP performance that’s actually being played live? Now that’s rare.
This song is short and simple which makes it GREAT. 👍👍👍👍👍
Anyone that sang live on top of the pops has my respect
