These debates are what we need in the run up to 2024 elections, thanks Sizwe for Usain Bolting it early in the year. Please run debates all the way through and tackle the Zama-Zama and Spazas owned by Somalis, Bangladesh, Ethiopians or even Pakistans also. These issues are very important for the economic and personal health of our people and country respectively. You should know by now that you have my respect my brother. Thank you.
Thank you Sizwe well balanced and good questions . The EFF representative articulated the EFF position quite well. PA should do better in terms of debates and contents …but we also encourage Kabelo and appreciate his view as a black young person

The PA is 10 years old but has never been in an election conference to test their democracy. EFF elects its leaders at conferences and the policies and resolution of the party are made by the members through conferences, they are not forced/imposed by self appointed "leaders".

Foreign = African when it suits them and the same foreign = Europeans and North Americans when it suits them. So to them “foreign” has different meanings depending on the context.
Eff are good debaters and their mandate is clear but when it comes to their foreign policy on immigration that will never find solace with south africans. And it's a fallacy that foreigners don't take jobs because people on the ground with low skills they see that what used to be their employ is now occupied by foreigners hence the private sector and the liberals whom are wmc advocate for open border policy. Malema on JJ tabane show said that he'll never fight with a Zimbabwean for a security job and by that statement he conceded that foreigners are employed over SA's.
I feel he is just ahead of Most people when it comes to this matter, i honestly don't think he is wrong for it and it will soon make sense sooner than later ... The issue of foreign policy is a long story and given the right platform i would break it down for you ... But i get wher he is coming from and I agree with him to a certain degree, Not to say that we don't have an immigration problem here but it's more internal than anything and closing the borders is definitely not a solution.
Besides, people who are shortsighted won't understand the long term objective of this point, people, yes, are traumatized by level of crimes of which 'foreign Africans' finds themselves implicated in, however dealing with them in this manner is like treating the symptoms rather and that does not guarantee a solution. In fact, when we fight one another as neighbours, we give an easy opportunity for an intruder to do as he pleases because we won't be looking for each other!!!

The EFF is very clear. The aim is to create jobs and to get people to create jobs. Why don’t the PA go after the employers? Can’t you see that EFFs focus is on these very employers? The ones who pay Zimbabweans chips or next to nothing when they hire them. What is so hard to understand about that? This exploitation starts with the exploiters who are doing the hiring and are often supported and sustained by “white monopoly capital”. Why don’t South Africans want to aim higher than a common security guard?

Although this view of the youth and for the youth is appreciated, the debate was very uninspiring. I don't feel like the guys were well prepared and actually articulated the solutions they believe in well, more so the representative from the PA. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to the next round of engagements.
I think this interview is a great representation of the political landscape of South Africa. More times than not, speakers just throw keywords with no background knowledge being explained or explored.
They also spoke really quickly. I don't know if that was due to the time constraints or because they had to go through all their keywords. I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
Many comments here celebrate the EFF speaker for putting a "coherent" argument. But in my opinion, it is merely a win by default. The other guy barely showed up. Many holes showed up in both their arguments, as well as a clear lack of depth.
To conclude, the idea is great. The future speakers should however, try to present themselves better. One recommendation is to include viewer opinions in the debate, via live chat.

I'm an EFF Member but I do find the foreign policy out of touch with what South Africans are experiencing. We live in a country where basically all low skill jobs have been dominated by foreigners. Probably 2.4Million jobs that would be supporting poor black households are going to legal but mostly illegal foreigners (let's be real) who don't pay tax and contribute to our struggling economy.
What about decolonisation you don't understand? You need to read to understand and you'll know why it's so important that we advocate for a boarder-less africa. This is in full motion, countries in Africa are now pushing for boarders to be scrapped in Africa. The EFF has a giraffe-view, people will understand later.
there are 2.5 million documented foreigners and about 5 million undocumented foreigners. So about 7.5 million jobs could have helped our poor black households...

I would love to listen to a debate between two parties from the same side of the political spectrum. Maybe two parties that are in the multiple party charter.
Sizwe, you should've brought ActionSA youth candidate mntase. What does the EFF candidate mean that there are no Jobs in SA when the hotels, Petrol stations, Restaurants are packed with foreigners? If there were no jobs or opportunities, foreign nationals would not be flocking to South Africa. Come to Cape Town and you will see what I mean.

If there were jobs the unemployment rate wouldn't be as high as it is now would it?
African Foreign Nationals only make up less than 3% of the South African population (go read the 2022 census report in detail).
The narrative that they are taking jobs is not supported by science because even if they were to be deported, we will still sit with an extremely high unemployment rate.
There's just over 1million Zimbabweans in the entire SA. We have over 14million Unemployed South African Youth.
@@MrLechesa I am referring to Cape Town where I am situated, I cant speak for the rest of the country. At this point in time, corporates should not even be considering employing foreigners for low skilled work but rather reserve those for South Africans. I live in Cape Town so this is a lived experience and not something on paper I read somewhere.

900 000 matriculants cant all get into tertiary institutions. In fact its not wise to populate yourself with one type of person. Some of them will definitely benefit from hands on training proposed by conscription in the military
And why can’t they? I guess you would have no clue. It seems impossible to you because you have never envisioned it. About your military conscription, would these people learn to use guns and other military weapons? What happens when they go outta line? Are they arrested? What happens to those who don’t want to partake in military service? Do they get arrested too? I can tell you all kinds of things that could go wrong with military conscription and one that seems forced at that without the presence of ongoing war but I’ll let you answer these questions first

They can all be placed. We need to begin to learn from the lessons of Covid era. It is high time we also adopt the e-distance learning with encouraged student accommodation areas linked to institutions such as UNISA and other who have distance e-learning approach. We also need to advocate for the enhancement of the curriculum of our TVETs to align with technology and scope of the economic sense we hold. The stigmatization of TVETs also must be dealt with to encourage others to pursue colleges and TVETs = colleges of TVETs and Higher Education Colleges system.
