Preventative Maintenance On A Nordictrack Treadmill (No Unnecessary Dialogue)

  • Maintenance on your treadmill is the key to keeping it going for years to come! I can't stress enough the importance of lubricating the deck. Your feet are always in the same spot on the treadmill, and if you don't keep it lubricated, you will start to wear past the finish of the deck. When this happens, added stress to the motor and the controller from the excess friction will create a domino effect of problems to come.

    Question- I noticed when you begin multitask (3:40?) the board is on, but my board is off until I put on the key. So when I try to start the “multitask” the board is off. My wife came to me and said the treadmill isn’t working. I opened up where the motor is same as you and there was so much dust inside. I vacuumed it out and it works but no incline. So I thought I’d try calibration and as I said my board isn’t on unless the key is in. Any suggestions? Thank you.

    I have a C2500, Moved across town and the belt and storage latch were appropriately moved into the up position. Now it seems stuck and I cant lower the deck. Other that the storage latch, is there something else that could be causing the deck to be frozen in the up position?

    • @gitfit875
      @gitfit875  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The storage latch is about all that can hang up. Of course, take the pressure off of it before trying to pull the knob in case the weight of the deck has it in a bind... at the base of the knob you'll see where it screws on, you can take it loose there and see if it's come apart in the inside. It's just basically a bolt that falls into a hole in the shaft.

    Im working on a Nordic Track A2350 for a family member. They haven't used it in about 8 years. The belt doesn't move easily, but I don;t want to go through the process of cleaning and lubricating until I can test the motor. Can I do this simply by loosening the belt and powering up? I get a flashing red light on the circuit board when I engage the belt drive now.

    • @gitfit875
      @gitfit875  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The flashing light means the controller is sending voltage to the motor. Maybe try calibration (I have a video on that). When you adjust the potentiometer to get accurate speed during the calibration process, and you can't get it slow enough, that would suggest motor problems because it's drawing too much power. If its not going at all, or stops immediately when you step on the belt, that would suggest controller issues. Unfortunately these things play off each other, so it's possible you have issues with both. The motor is a dc motor, you can apply voltage directly to it with a drill battery as well to test it (got a video on that as well).

My treadmill belt stopped yesterday. Incline and iFit was working but the belt wouldn't move. Then, I restarted but that didn't help. I unplugged for awhile and turned it on much later that night and it was working! But while it was working, this error popped up and wouldn't leave the screen during the workout: Connection Error: Mismatches exceed threshold. I did some light cleaning. Haven't been courageous to remove the cover yet but maybe I should have a look to ensure nothing is interfering with motor like a wire or maybe the belt is too tight? Yes. Speed fluctuation suggests inconsistent voltage from the controller.

    I bought silicone oil treadmill lubricant and was going to clean and lubricate the walking belt and platform of my treadmill according to your video. However, I now see in my user's manual for a 2011 NordicTrack NCTL05610.0 T4.0 that is says at Operation and Adjustment section, "The pre-lubricated walking belt ... [is] coated with high-performance lubricant. Important: never apply silicone spray or other substance to the walking belt or walking platform. Such substances will cause excessive wear." The motor and belt had been replaced 4 years ago. Is it okay to use the silicone oil and follow your procedures for cleaning and lubricating?

      Icon sells lubricant (100% silicone) if you would rather use their brand. Not sure about 2011 models, but some old school treadmills have a mylar sheet between the deck and tread, these you would not use silicone on. I just looked at the exploded drawing of your machine, didn't see mylar there. You want to lubricate your belt every 180 hours of use....... hold down the stop button and insert the key to see the hours

    Thanks for this tutorial, very helpful indeed. I have a small question, if possible : on my treadmill after I hold the program button 3-5 seconds I get a menu with 3 different values, without any explanation (not in the manual either). The values are between 5-250 (2 values) and 5-60 (3rd value). Do you know by any chance what these values refers to? Thanks.

    Great video! I have followed the steps using this video to perform maintenance on my T6.3 treadmill (console looks a bit different from the one in the video) and thank you for sharing the video. All the steps worked except the last step (@ 5:41 where you mention to press Incline +). For me, instead of showing all the digits, it started showing random digits. I tried resetting/powering-off, but nothing worked. Now, some random numbers appear without the safety/magnetic key. I believe it is not a demo or information mode - I have tried resolution for those already and nothing resolves the problem. When the key is plugged in, none of the bottom buttons work, so in order to use the treadmill, i have to directly press the speed (1-10) or incline (0-8) which works fine and to turn off the treadmill, I have to pull the power cord. I will really appreciate if you can guide me to have this resolved. Much appreciated!

      Where I'm pressing incline+, I'm being impatient, letting the digits individually turn on and off without doing anything works as well. Does yours require holding stop and speed up at the same time to get into calibration? Some of the newer ones have changed a bit (I need to make an update video).. double check demo mode, lights without the key definitely suggests it. Buttons not functioning suggests you need the console ribbon cables cleaned. I do have a video on that.

      @@gitfit875 Yes, my treadmill required holding stop and speed + at the same time to get into calibration started. I have tried demo mode (holding stop down for a few seconds) but didn't change anything. The start/stop buttons were working before i started the calibration, do you still think that the cleaning would fix it or it might be some other issue? Thanks as always!

      If the buttons are ignoring you completely, that would suggest the cables..... demo mode will be different than calibration...... hold down only stop and apply the key, you should find demo mode on and off there

    Are there any grease inserts for the incline? My treadmill is making a squeaking noise when I set the incline that leads me to believe that it may need a little grease?

    • @gitfit875
      @gitfit875  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's no grease points, however where the treadmill hinges during incline can become loose and cause a squeak when using it

    Nordic track maintenance plans : can't believe these plans are so dirt cheap. I would go for these kick ass plan rather buying a new one. My wife just kissed me and told me what an intelligent fool I am.
