This is so insane. Must have taken you lots of time to master this at such high level. Respect.
Many thanks! Yes it has taken me time, I'd say the most important work was even before trying to play these solos: all the techniques and tones I've worked on before have helped me a lot to then be able to play this.
Treys solos give me that Lovecraft Great Old Ones vibe.
1:11 is crazy AF. One of the most insane shredders of all time.
every time I see this again I think of how its probably one of the best videos on this site
Just brutal, I wish Trey would play the solos so faithful live
Where the slime solo is amazing
What Trey did with this solo is amazing for sure, and it was really challenging for me to play/cover it!
I play guitar and Trey is one of my inspirations, having the privilege of watching you reproduce this masterpiece really touch me, thanks !
I'm really glad you like it. Trey is also one, if not the only one, of the most important of my inspirations, and to me he has been the most creative guitarist in the death-metal scene since the early days.
A 7 string BC Rich Stealth is one of my dream guitars. Killer work, dude.
A very nice guitar! Thank you!
@@DEA-I-HFVCKDES-I-ROYER Yes
Simply amazing, the closest I've ever heard
What a fucking savage trey is definitely proud of you 🫡
Outstanding ! Trey would be proud 🫵
Merci beaucoup !!🤘
@@patrikbnvn2847 I am sure Trey is really proud!
I'm a huge Morbid Angel fan and guitarist. Treys leads are otherworldly. You should feel extremely accomplished that you cab replicate his solos so well.
Sure, being able to play these solos and Trey's music is one of my most important musical accomplishment!
Prayer of Hatred section is so relaxing.
I love your 7 string stealth, it makes me wish Chuck wrote some 7 string riffs.
Excellent
Amazing. By far the most accurate tones and playing. No idea how you managed to figure this stuff out ha
Many thanks! It was a lot of work for sure
This needs more views so sick
Thank you!! Don't hesitate to share this video :)
Dude, I want your autograph just for being able to do that! Hats off.
Trey is one of my guitar heroes. Amazing job on the covers.
Many thanks!! Trey is the most creative guitar player in the extreme metal scene, he really has created something unique.
thanks for these . you are insane dude ....
Many thanks 🤘
Just subbed to your channel. Incredible covers that are spot on from the sound and playing combined. I seen other "attempts" and there may be one or two that are decent to solid but none like this!
These covers a largely accurate and near perfect. From the tones and effects down to the playing!
My son plays guitar and I just showed him this video and he is speechless! Morbid Angel is one of our top favorite bands and Trey is a top 5 guitarists for us. Brilliant covers!!! 🙌🤘😈🤘
Subscribed and liked before it even started lol. Sick axe
this is very impessive bro!!!! Nailing it!!!

Wow, so impressive!!
Many thanks!
Madness man, madness! Love the mainly FGH album selection too
FGH are the albums where Trey has reached the highest level of awesomeness!! In my humble opinion :)
Such a distinctive style
Yes Trey has created something unique!!
You did God of The Forsaken! Best morbid angel song, what a closer played to perfection!
You work is really impressive😮Trey must see this video !

Nice Ironbird!!
Great Jamming Guitar Solo! It's a Fucking Killer Riffs!
I watch this video everyday
It would be great to make a video on the tapping techniques you've used
Woah! Jealous! Mad Props!
Dude, you’re insane. Just subscribed… AND YOU WERE USING THE FAN WITH THE AMP!!! You dog!!!! Trey would approve.
Many thanks, and using the fan with the amp is really adding something unique to the sound, a brilliant idea Trey had!
@@patrikbnvn2847what is the fan you guys are talking about? Intrigued...
@@townsand72 0:30 For the solo of Cleansed in Pestilence I've used Trey's Wind Rift mic_ing technique consisting of using a fan between the amp and the mic that he used for many solos on Formulas, Gateways, Heretic and Kingdoms.
Too cool, did you speak with him, or how did you guys find this out? Thanks!
@@townsand72 Yes and also he has talked a lot about it in interviews and posted pictures of his setup on his MySpace back in the days 🤘
This is incredible. I hope Trey himself see this one day. Great work.
Many thanks!!
Wow, sounds so close that I thought it was Trey ! Wowww
Awesome skills and nice guitars too especialy bc rich marc rizzo
Many thanks, some of the guitars used in this video have been sold, but not the Stealth Marc Rizzo that is still my main guitar for all I do. A trusty guitar for sure
@@patrikbnvn2847 I always wanted this bc rich, but at first I didn't have money, and then they disappeared from sale, in the end I bought a rusty cooley signature dean rc7x , it has almost the same specifications but a different appearance
@@Imposibilitron Sad they don't do it anymore. Had some neck dive issues at first but I fixed it by moving the strap buttons. Other than that, very comfortable guitar!
Dude... holy shit...
this is so awesome !!!!! you're a Beast !!!!. Please consider the possibility of makeing some tutorials step by step with tabs !!!
Many thanks!! Trey's music doesn't fit the box and should be thought in terms of energy and feeling rather than scales and technique. That's why tabs can't do justice to his music. But I'd recommend watching this vid where I explain a few things that I've used to do these solos th-cam.com/video/a-I4jarXdgg/w-d-xo.html
I'm glad to see you back, haven't heard from you a while ago bro, let's catch up sometime!
Thanks bro! It's been a while for sure, hope you're doing well! I don't have FB and Messenger anymore by the way
@@patrikbnvn2847 Yeah, I noticed that! I'm still struggling with my life, unfortunately haven't played guitar two years ago! Sucks!

Красиво
Holy shit 😅
Trey is the best of the best. His creativity is unmatched.
I agree !! He is the most creative guitarist in modern times
Foda demais!!!!!!!!!!
And the fan in Cleansed... ❤
Hail!
Hail!! 🔥
Fantastic playing, some real hard work has gond into them solo's, I'm curious to know what scale shapes and modes Trey works from for his leads? I was really lucky to catch them on the gates ways tour @ the LA 2 in london. Got my ticket stub signed as well. Come to think of it i saw em on illud tour as well. Both shows were great.
Many thanks! It's rather hard to describe Trey's work in terms of scales and modes, because his playing is very intuitive and spontaneous, without really thinking about what is actually played, but instead by feeling the energy or the vibes of the music. Something that he must have used is visualisation, where one visualises, internally, what sound one wants the amps to produce. It's also a reason why it's hard to get accurate tabs of his solos, something that I wouldn't want to do for many reasons, but I've focused on reproducing the energy more than the notes to cover these solos.
As for MA playing live, no bands has ever beaten their intensity. I've seen them on many many tours, last time in 2014 because they've unfortunately been unable to come back to Europe since then, but always a special and I'd even say a mystical experience.
Without your face in the video looks like a young Trey taking on his solos
Hey pat, I'd use your videos way back years ago to learn some of treys insane solos, do you think you could re upload the cover of Cleansed in Pestilence? Sick as always insane Watching you replicate trey
Hey, thanks for your words. About Cleansed in Pestilence, I haven't planned to re-uplaod all my old covers, but I'll wee what I can do for you to have the full cover video again !
Hey, I've re uploaded the cover of Cleansed in Pestilence th-cam.com/video/wUUFAW3pzPc/w-d-xo.html !
Song I the solo is so good
n/
Sure this song has great solos
That's some skill right there. Great job! Why no love for the first the albums though? Also, it would be sweet if you covered the solos of Inquisition.
Thank you! I also love the first albums, Blessed are the Sick is actually my favorite MA album and my all time favorite death-metal record. But I just wanted to focus on Formulas, Gateways and Heretic, because I think that on these records, Trey's solos have reached such a high level of awesomeness and he has created something absolutely unique with them. Love of Lava!
@@patrikbnvn2847 Trey is a hell of a guitarist. Everything from Altars to Heretic is death metal gold. Really their only album I dislike is the one before Kingdoms Disdained...
But anyway, please consider covering Inquisition. That's such an awesome song.
You've inspired me to pick my electric back up and try to tackle some Morbid Angel tunes. Do you learn by ear? Tablature? Trey's solos are so chaotic I could never figure out the right rhythm when reviewing tablature. You're a hell of a guitarist. Keep it up!
@@XX-mx4jt Thank you! And I'm glad I've inspired you to play some Morbid Angel tunes!!
The album I like less is actually Kingdoms Disdained, because I don’t like the production. I think that Illud has a much better prod and I also like the songs on it, even the more experimental songs.
I have plans for more MA covers, Inquisition used to be on my list so I’ll consider covering it one day. Not the next cover I will do though. Also I learn everything by ears. I don't use tabs because I’ve never found any decent tabs and I’m not really interested in just reading existing tabs. I have a solid musical background that helps me learn Trey’s music by ears.
Come over and we will
Jam
Morbid angel all day 🥁
Bro, Trey would truly be proud!
Thanks for your comment!!
@patrikbnvn2847 you're a genius man

@@townsand72 That solo is insane !!
3:01 unique technique dude!

Was angel of disease solo in there? Or invocation of the continual one best solos ever!!
No. Actually each song that have the solos featured on this video have been done as whole covers before I did this compilation video of just the solos. Angel of Disease has so many solos that I wouldn't isolate them from the entire cover. And Invocation has great solos, but wasn't a song I wanted to cover in its entirety.
Excellent playing, respect! What's your preferred signal chain for these sounds?
Many thanks! For most of these solos, the signal chain was guitar --> Phase 90 --> Proco Rat --> EQ then I've split the signal into 2 to use 2 amps, a Marshall JCM900 and a Marshall Mosfet, with a stereo delay in the loop of the amps. I did this video with a slightly different signal chain but very close to it th-cam.com/video/a-I4jarXdgg/w-d-xo.html
You can tell this is an old video cuz the edges of the underneath video are showing around the overlaid one. That means it was probably edited on a CRT where the image looked fine because the edges of the video were either covered by the moulding around the screen.
As much hate as illud got those song and solos were still structurally, put together very well.
I personally like Illud a lot and I think that the production on it is better than many records that got more praised.
Illud isn't a perfect album by any means and the industrial songs don't get any play from me, but the death metal songs were great and Trey had possibly his best tone out of any album save for maybe formulas and gateways in my opinion.
@@slimmmshaney5695 for a morbid angel album it certainly isn’t like P stated it should’ve gone under a different name. That being said it’s good for what it is but obviously very disappointing for fans that like the other style.
@@slimmmshaney5695 I totally agree with you, Trey has one of his best tones on Illud.
@@Keepitsavage21 I totally respect this opinion. I didn't feel the kind of treachery that many people felt for it to not be released under another name when it came out, but I can understand this idea, because I actually also was disappointed at first: not because of the general tone that I like a lot, not because of the so-called experimental tracks (I like most of them), but precisely because it wasn't experimental enough. I mean, everything sounds great to me, but actually average compared to what they've experimented before.
Excellent !! Really impressive, thank you for your video!!! What is the pedal effect on 5:05 ??
Many thanks!! For this solo, the main effect is a reversed delay. I've recorded with 2 amps in stereo, and on one amp there's a reversed delay. Also this part has very little gain.
@@patrikbnvn2847 Thank you very much 😀 !! You use Active Emg and Passive pick-up, do you have a preference?
@@SailorBelmont Yes I tend to prefer EMG pick-ups for almost everything. But it also depends on what kind of stuff I want to do. Typically, for that tapping solo on Prayer of Hatred, I would prefer passive pick-ups, especially with that Ironbird on which I can use coil split.
@@patrikbnvn2847 It’s a pleasure talking with you! Trey has been one of my favorite musicians for a long time, I hope he continues to release albums. Here is my first TH-cam channel I also play on morbid angel but I am a drummer! m.th-cam.com/video/tlcpuHDBICY/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUZQ291bnQgQmFydG9rIG1vcmJpZCBhbmdlbA%3D%3D
Your guitars are really beautiful, the star is really crazy. Do you have one that you prefer?
How do you keep the stealth from neck diving? I've unfortunately got cracks down the creases where the wings meet the neck through because of a neck dive incident.
I've relocated the strap buttons, the one on the upper wing closer to the bridge and the other one on the small horn on the left side instead of behind the horn
What's the basic chain you have running for that wah tone from Trey?
I explain my signal chain in this video th-cam.com/video/a-I4jarXdgg/w-d-xo.html
0:42 why the ventilator? is it doing some kind of sound?
Yes this is actually a technique that Trey has imagined and used to record many solos on Formulas, Gateways and Heretic, the solo for Cleansed in Pestilence in particular.
The fan adds a kind of dirty vibrato fx that can't be achieved by just using pedals. And as these solos are recorded with 2 amps in stereo, putting the fan in front of just one amp adds the fx on just one side. I’ve also used the fans on the tapping solo for « I »!
How tf do you figure out those leads. They’re buried in effects
Since you would know, what is your favorite album/era of his solos?
My favorite album for his solos is Formulas. I think that this is the time when he was the most creative and each solo on this album is unique. He also has experimented many new things such as the Wind Rift mic-ing technique with the fan in front of one amp...amazing guitarist!!! As for my favorite album when it comes to composition, it is Blessed are the Sick.
@@patrikbnvn2847BRST is an interesting album I should listen to it more. I'm partial to covenant myself because it was one of my first few DM albums I ever heard. Btw, what do think of their last album? I literally can't listen to it, it's that bad. I don't understand what's going on but I gave up on them since Heretic. Am I missing something?
@@HairyPixels I like Covenant a lot, certainly in my top 3 MA albums. But I was a bit disappointed when it came out, because it was very straightforward compared to BATS which is more subtle and diversified. When I first listened to BATS in 1991, I was instantly blown away by how dark and complex it was. It was next level compared to any other death metal records at that time. To me the natural evolution from BATS would have been Domination instead of Covenant. But still one of my favorites now.
As for the last couple albums, I like Heretic a lot, production is weird compared to other albums from the same era, but I like it and it sounds clearer than any other death-metal records at that time. I also like the highly controversial Illud Divinum Insanus. I was expecting something different when it came out, I was thus disappointed at first listens, but I like the production on it, maybe Trey’s best guitar tone to me. The classic death metal songs have strong Domination vibes, songs such as Beauty Meets Beast have so much groove and swing, it’s like a waltz, I can literally imagine Belle dancing with the Beast while listening to this song. And I also like the more experimental tracks, especially Destructos vs the Earth that I find amazingly catchy. By the way, there’s actually a song on the more acclaimed album Kingdoms Disdained that has strong Destructos vibes called Declaring New Law! I like this song too.
And then for Kingdoms Disdained, it’s an interesting album, Trey has once again had new ideas, weird but interesting ideas such as putting his fingers underneath the strings to sound ugly and a bit out of tune on purpose, but the production does not do justice to these ideas. It’s the kind of prod that makes you think « wow, it sounds brutal and straight in the face » at first listen, but after a few spins it sounds unnatural, too compressed and it lacks of dynamic. Very modern production, but I think that it doesn’t fit MA’s complex music. If I recall, Trey did his own master of the album and also wanted to release the demo tracks under the name Complete Acid Terror, maybe these are signs that he might have also been dissatisfied with the final result...
@@patrikbnvn2847 very good analysis. Yes Covenant was downright commercial and was even featured on MTV in the US. Still has undeniably well written songs. Hmm I'll try listening to Kingdoms again but it sounds like mush to me now. I think he may have been trying too hard to experiment instead of composing.
@@HairyPixels Yes I think you're absolutely right. BATS was also more experimental compared to AOM, but they were experimenting in the songwriting, where Kingdoms is more experimenting in the playing technique.

Are there any like common scales trey uses or is he just lava flowing all over the place??
I’ve often heard or read Trey say that he was not into music theory and more on the energy and feelings level. But we can still hear some scales in his solos, mainly heptatonic (standard minor/major scales) or even octatonic scales I’d say. It sounds close to western classical music, and we all remember Trey saying in the early days that he was highly influenced by classical music and especially Mozart. But Trey’s music is much more than that, because it’s also about his tone and effects and the more chaotic solos have no scale at all and they’re just a flow of lava and I guess it also comes from visualization.
@@patrikbnvn2847 Thanks for the insight I really appreciate it!
