Many thanks Joshua!!! Yes I've rerecorded it last week. Many things I wanted to play differently from my first version. Glad you like the Rat, it was the same for me, first time I tried the Rat, I wasn't satisfied, and I've worked on setting it properly, at least to get a tone I liked, and now it's been many years that I love it.

Oh you know that, that's awesome :) That's right, there's a few riffs in Morbid Angel that are other riffs played backwards. And also riffs that have that backwards feel to them like the song Blessed are the Sick. I love it!!

I've seen some of Trey's. Comments to Patrick's videos .I am happy he respects his efforts. Roughly a decade ago I started chatting with Patrick as he was the first person I actually knew who had a bigger passion for Trey's playing than I.

@@alegzender Yeah that outro is sooo heavy, when I saw them playing this song on their Formulas tour, it was literally making the walls shake!!

Yeah as said in another comment, it could need some adjustments to be done for each take... BUT....I defy anyone to spot where the fan noise can be heard in a mix context in Trey's solos and in my solos on my own records ☝

For rhythm guitars in this cover it's guitar into ProCo Rat pedal, then into Amplitube using a combination of a JCM800 and a 5150. For the solo, I've used almost the same signal chain as explained in this video th-cam.com/video/a-I4jarXdgg/w-d-xo.html

Many thanks! Oh yes, everything in this album is perfect : the songs, the rhythm guitar work, the solos, King's vocals are particularly awesome, the lyrical concept. I've listened to it sooooo many times as a kid haha.

I remember you saying you are a huge fan of both, and so am I. It's been a long time since I haven't listened to the Graveyard, I should get back to it one day for sure. The new songs that have been released lately are awesome too in my opinion, and can't wait for their new full record.

This song is in D#, and the solos are harmonic and standard minor scales yeah, not really pentatonic stuff. Just switching from a minor scale to another

Angel of Disease would be a great song to cover yes. It's on my list but not the next I'll work on, there's other songs I'm currently working on. But one day it's very likely 👍

Thank you! Yeah Bleed for the Devil used to be one of my favourites from Altars when I was a kid. My all time favourite is Blesse are the Sick, but yeah, Gateways, Formulas, Heretic contain real gems!! And the solos from these 3 albums are beyond awesome!!!

@@GhoulishDave Yes Brainstorm is an amazing song, certainly one of my all times favourite MA songs, and Trey's solo on Summoning Redemption is also a favourite of mine, it always gives me goosebumps, and Secured Limitations as well

Yes Trey's idea to put a fan between the amp and the mic is so cool!! This is subtle and no pedal can do this effect. With the fan blades there's a lot of subtle frequencies added to the amp tone that I like, not just the vibrato effect. By the way, by just putting a fan in front of the amp, not even recording anything, it sounds very different and so interesting.

For the purpose of this vid I've tried to keep the takes as natural as possible, but sure, then there's some adjustments to be done. First, in the context of a mix the fan noise can easily be cut. And I've experimented this technique in many ways, and moving the mic from the blades wouldn't work, the effect would be different. But definitely, having the amp louder helps 👍

@@patrikbnvn2847 A voice in a fan is a cool effect for sure. HPF or shelving on the fan blade track? I would be worried about losing my lows.

@@AAAA-lt9hq Yes that could be an issue. I'd say that for this kind of solos, low shelving can do the trick, or maybe just finding the fan noise frequency and reduce it. But in other context it can be more tricky, and I'd suggest to experiment different things to find what works best.

@@patrikbnvn2847 I was thinking a noise gate could do it but depending on where it is it might cut off more guitar than what one might want. In the original the fan motor sounds covered by the vocal.

@@AAAA-lt9hq I haven't tried a noise gate, but yeah, it might cut off more than what is needed. But that's something to try.
