I was thinking I would like to have a bass that looks like that. I play pretty equally sitting and standing. A lot of times I need to stand though because I need to like jam and rock out
only when sitting down man. as soon as he stands up, you pay back everything you gained while sitting down with the added weight, bulkiness and looks.. on top of that this thing looks like a regular guitar got late stage cancer, absolutely hideous. a failed concept IMO.
talking about design.....i was thinking for 5 secs about this and it is clear that the better solution is a more regular and nice looking guitar and just add a click-on part that is shaped like the bottom part here. once you stand up, remove the part and off you go. that way you have the best of both worlds and your instrument does't looks like it got out of a freakshow
there are some others: strandberg, tosin abasi's guitars, steve klein's been at it 50 years. that said, this design seems particularly successful. i think to get something that fits your body this well, it probably has to be designed for you specifically. time to grab some cardboard, find a shape you like, then mock it up in cheap wood and bolt on a dirt cheap squier neck. experiment until its perfect for you.
@@acatnamedjoex4688 i think a guitar like this at least gives you the best chance to avoid injury. for insanely technical stuff like this where you have look at the fretboard the entire time, you don't really have any good options to keep your back straight. tapping doesnt help either since it pulls your right shoulder forward. if you look at the posture of professional classical players, who often use supports or stools, they usually don't slouch like this, even for the more technical pieces in their repertoire. it's possible to have great poture, but most of the time you need to compromise because the guitar is just awkward and not easy to hold.

This video is the best cover I've seen, of anything. No backing track, no fx over distortion, no prerecording, no cuts,an audible metronome and it's unbelievably clean and clear, with so much precision and power in both hands. Inspired me to really play my guitar, not just half ass it so I can "play" songs, but practice over and over until I don't make any mistakes.

No backing track...no reverb or delay...this is someone who actually dedicated a lot of time to this instrument and learning the solos. Bravo, insane job
the caMera is on a tripod so it would be easy to mask out the sped up clock and use that part of the frame at normal speed. The reason it sounds insanely perfect in terms of timing and the physics (hair, muscle movement) look unnatural is because thats exactly what he did. You can also see weird video artifacts from whatever smoothing/blend effect he used (watch his nose/face and youll see this when he moves his head) which helps offset the uncanny valley aspect of the sped up motion.

Also, this video is 8 min give or take, Epitaph is about 33, so that means that about 20% of the album is solos. And every single note serves a purpose; a perfect video, to highlight a perfect album.

For the people crapping on the shape of the guitar - as an older guy who played guitar obsessively for a few decades and then had to stop I would encourage anyone to play and practice with as much ergonomic comfort as possible. Also, if this guy can play like that bare and with a metronome he will be fine cutting it live, in my opinion.

They headlined, and as they began playing their first song the entire crowd formed a gigantic empty circle in the middle of the floor and as I looked around it became clear that nobody was moshing, nobody was even bobbing their head to the music. We were all just standing there in awe. This is a fine tribute - I'm curious what some of your own compositions sound like.
I saw Beyond Creation once and they were obviously getting ready to give an encore at the end of the show, but denied us the encore because we didn't make enough noise. I think we were in awe at the musicianship then, like during your experience at Summer Slaughter.

It really is man. I've been playing for 20 years, about 8 of which have been me really focusing on technique. And I can still barely play the intro the Only Ash Remains.

Ironically that was the only thing i was feeling was SLIGHTLY off, then i saw his description - he said "I dont have Floyd-Rose tremelo lockings on this guitar so instead of dives i just did big bends' and then i was like uh, yeah, this guys got the 🥩 s lol

For all the ppl talking about him sitting while playing.. what if this guy started playing when he was a kid, always played in his room, never in a band, but only done it for his enjoyment and love of music... now lets imagine that hes a well renowned guitar teacher and makes $100,000 a year just by sitting giving lessons on the guitar... what need would there ever b to stand while playing???
