Though I don't think that there is going to be an angry mob with pitchforks on Strixhaven ganging up to kill a werewolf. I would also make two other points both in favor of Ulgrotha. On Innistrad we don't often see cards depicting humans fighting against the horrors of the plane depicted in black, black aligned humans on Innistrad are more likely to be in cooperation with the dark forces of the world, which does lend to the flavor that black aligned humans on the black mana dominated world of Ulgrotha would be more likely using an effect rooted in black mana to destroy a werewolf. The other clue we get is the sky and general color pallet of the art. When compared to more contemporary cards depicting Ulgrotha, this is more in line with the kind of sky we see on the Serf token whereas typically on Innistrad cards are depicted showing the light of the midday sun or are in the dark of night, but rarely at dusk or dawn... however this point I'll admit is a bit flimsy since the light source could also be from torches held by the mob.... but if it is indeed sundown as it appears then that could be a third point for Ulgrotha as werewolves on Innistrad are always in their human form during the day. I also don't know that I think convoke appearing as a mechanic is enough to settle the point since the convoke mechanic was listed to many many planes during the multiverse invasion by Phyrexia, and Ulgrotha only received one singular card depicting the plane in that set. @@RedBobcatGames The site is run entirely by 1 person, and they usually change card placement if someone points out mistakes. Overall, it's just a pasion project
Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger
Mushroom, Mushroom.
Reading this made me think of that Metal Gear guy who shouts "SNAKE!" and, now I'm worried memes are blending together in my head
2:20 News to me. Now I just picture WotC printing a steady trickle of these Maro cards akin to how Mephisto from Marvel grows in power every time his name or very concept is comprehended by mortal minds.
There are 15 "Maro" cards by my count currently. More if you if you count whatever a "Fumarole"' is
Innistrad has always been my favourite set. Sets. One day I will collect them all. My favourite commander decks are Vampires and Zombies.
You sound exactly like me
@@RedBobcatGames Innistrad was the set I started on. I still remember pulling a foil Liliana of the Veil out of my second booster and getting a little too excited.
Oh wow, that must have been awesome
@@RedBobcatGames yeah I was a bit excited. Ended up selling her to a guy in Canada for £300.
Yeah that card is clearly a callback to Unruly mob and I fully 100% agree it's set on Innistrad
Score one for the bobcat
Hey I think you missed the opportunity to compare the flavor text on unruly mob and mob seeing how they both are trying to evoke the same sentiment. To a point that it was a deliberate callback to exactly that card.
A bit like Village Cannibals and Village Rites? I think you're right. (Also, don't tell anyone but since this was published I actually did find evidence of Werewolves on Jamuraa and I don't really know what to do about that. The video's up already. I mean, the clothing of the people in Jamuraa doesn't match those in Mob, so I'd still have ruled it out... but, you know. Whoops)
Dude this is so dope
Thanks man, I appriciate it
Good video
Good comment, thank you
This is a fun game and I'd be interested in seeing more of your thoughts on where you think a card is from. Would like to see some love for Ikoria as well
From me or from WotC? I woulnd't hold your breath for Wizards. I honestly think there's a chance Ikoria only existed to sell Godzilla cards
@@RedBobcatGames yeah I meant you, but I do hope wizards revisits it as well
@@charlieread7097 I'm sure I can try and muster some love for Ikoria, but Ikoria specifically is two very different beasts. The cards and the story went in two wildly different directions. Which did you prefer?
Great stuff, thank you!
You're welcome, and thank you!
Innistrad is the best plane!
Well, I think so at least
Hmmm, maybe not "best". Maybe just my favourite
This is fun but we need some cards that are more of a challenge
I was originally going to do three cards, but once i'd explained how the game worked I looked at the run time and decided to cut it down. It's also why I said I'd probably make this a series. There's a load more cards out there to do this with
Just saying the werewolf from Mob could be from the time-frame of the dark in dominaria since its set during a dark age
Perhaps, but looking only at the cards I can't find any werewolves that match. So I guess the question is, should I only be looking at the cards?
I think we need a is it EGG video!!
I am very much on board
You should do the game again, but with other planes, maybe phyrexia?
Ohhhhhhh, but what does that even mean? You mean Phyrexia? Or New Phyrexia? Or Mirrodin? Or, whatever Mirrodin was before it was Mirrodin (I forget the name if it had one)? Good thought though
I love Innistrad , Midnight Hunt and Crimson vow . Subbed
I love them too. It's why their flaws hurt me so haha. I even love Double Feature. Yes, I did knowingly buy Double Feature. That is the extent of my love for the set! Have you ever played original Innistrad?
@@RedBobcatGames I'm currently putting toghter a set of Shadows over Innistrad , but have yet to play . But the whole theme is fantastic , art etc all setting perfect mood. Would love to see you do more Innistrad specific Videos , too 😄.
@@parabot2 Now, if I can just get a couple hundred thousand more subscribers like you and I'll make Innistrad videos ALL DAY LONG. You want a video on the beauty and tragedy of Isobel? Don't get me started. I'LL DO IT!
@@RedBobcatGames Will try my best to tell people about your Channel .
@@parabot2 Why thank you very much. This last month especially I've noticed that the algorithm just isn't recommending me to anywhere near as many people as it has before, so that really helps. No pressure if not though, even just the thought is appriciated
I like this, and I love the game! I’ll have to try it myself
It's a lot of fun. And with as many cards as there are you can find many ways to play
engagment!
reply!
is there some MTG in-joke with pronouncing it "justi-CAR"?
i ask because everyone seems to pronounce it that way and i finally looked at the word and realized it comes from the word "justice" and that it appears to be pronounced more like "justi-SHIAR"
I'd have pronounced it "Justice-e-ar" myself, but no. It's not so much an in joke, as a thing you hear so many times it just sort of becomes the norm. If I read the word any other way, I pronounce it correctly. On a magic card, it's "just-y-car". Not sure why haha
@@RedBobcatGames i originally thought it was pronounced that way as well until i decided to look it up today. "justice-e-ar" just makes the most sense with the spelling to me
Another great thought provoking video!
Thanks @RedBobcatGames
@@partyballoonsnorwich2122 Thank you
@@LucasTigy2 And yeah, I believe that is the correct pronunciation. But now you've pointed it out, I actually quite like the idea all magic players pronounce it wrong on purpose just to mess with people that don't play haha
I enjoyed this content, because it was good. I like when I watch good content! Magic the gathering :)
Top comment. 100%
I'm working on it! I hope you like Pokémon, cos that's next
Have you ever been on mtg multiverse it's a great plane resource
I have not. Tell me everything. This sounds like something I would love.
So, an update. I just have visited MTG Multiverse and was so tempted to just start recording my live thoughts as I looked through the Innistrad cards there. There's a few that are missing that should be listed, a few included that I think are questionable, and a few on there that are just wrong. It's a real shame, because it's the sort of thing I would love, but sadly it's inaccurate
@@RedBobcatGames the more recent set have reviews explained why there putting them there, I do agree though cards like blessed spirits and blood rage vampire seem like a reach at best
@@CarmenCards This seems like a website that has the potential to consume me haha. I do love the idea of finding a home for each card
Cool
Thanks
Comment for the comment god, like for the like throne!
Also ya know, good and informative video
God damn. I want to start saying that in videos. That's sick. I have exactly one 40k army, it's exclusively Khorne demons and it's terrible. Them boys don't have guns, and I love them for it
I didn’t know
