Great meal plan !! I wish they would teach home ed / cooking from scratch in schools. I am fortunate I learned it from my grandma and loved it and started experimenting on my own. Practice is definitely what helps and just use what is on hand and affordable within budget and be creative with spices. Happy to see you take good care of your family's meals
So glad to have found your channel. You will be getting many followers. There is a great need in our country for this information and practical skills. We raised 14 children and I cooked from scratch just like this. God Bless you and yours Laramie❤️
I’m excited I found this channel. Im so scared for the next few months to come financially for our family. Im doing anything I can to learn and prepare for being as frugal as possible
Hi, I love your videos. An in depth video for sour dough bread making would be great. I appreciate your perspective and reminding everyone of blessings and being thankful for God's provisions.
I'm 70. Inflation is nothing new, just like job loss, low pay, and surprise expenses. In Jr. High and High School I always took Home Ec., and the cooking was always from scratch. My mother and grandmothers cooked from scratch and I also learned from them. Too bad that's not a thing anymore. I hope I passed enough of that down. It really doesn't take much more time to do. Even though I always had to work, I still cooked from scratch and enjoyed doing it.
I stopped putting honey in yogurt as its a natural antibiotic and we need the healthy bacteria in yogurt. I began purchasing organic maple syrup at costco. Although a bit more expensive, I enjoy the flavor even more.
Hello sweet lady! My sister in law sent me one of your videos, because she said you were so calm and wonderful to listen to. I'm now binge watching all your videos. You are a wealth of knowledge for the world. God has definitely given you a talent. Thank you so much for blessing us all. Im having to try and meal plan for our family of 8 with $500 a month. I'm blessed to know how to do a lotbof things, but so busy. You are very motivating and lovely. Thank you so much for all you do.
Love your perspective and thanks for sharing your budget! I’m in WA state and we have 4 adults and one almost 14 year old. (Husband and I- kids ages 22,18,13. Things have changed in our budget as kids have aged for sure. We do a lot of gardening but don’t have chickens. We budget $600 a month and that includes paper products and cleaning supplies. We don’t purchase packaged snacks or soda, occasionally a bag of chips for a treat. One thing that’s hard on our budget is coffee and half-n-half. My family prefers the pods and I feel like I’m always running low and they are about $0.40 a piece.
I resonate so much with your channel! I love the simplicity and genuineness of it. We were spending $1000+ a month on food for two adults and a baby (no food budget with lots of food waste). I thought lowering the food budget would mean more low quality food. Actually the opposite! I've been so much more resourceful, using up things in our deep freezer and pantry and finding great recipes! I think you would love peanut butter baked oatmeal- lots of recipes for this online and it keeps well in the fridge for snacks and a week-long breakfast. We also buy a whole pork butt, grind it ourselves and make amazing breakfast sausage for about $1.20 a pound. We are now saving up cash for a car (used) and saving for retirement. The peace feel so good!
You are a great resource. I taught my kids menu planning and frugal grocery shopping as part of our homeschool curriculum. More people need to know this valuable skill.
Great meal plan! Delicious meals! I used to feed my growing family of 6 to 7 for 75.00/ week when they were younger. As they grew it went to 125/ week. Now 125-150 a week sometimes hitting 175-178./ week usually but for awhile it was getting out of control to 1000./ month! Had to back that down! But the kids are grown adults now youngest being 18 and a baby granddaughter added in so still feeding family of 6. Thanks for the ideas. I often take a meat base and make it into different meals. Like Costco 4.99 rotisserie chicken I can make up to 4 meals from and us cheaper than if I roast my own. I can make chicken as is with mashed potatoes, veg( and I will eat as is or glaze with peach/apricot jam and little soy sauce or BanChan teriyaki sauce drizzled over it), green chicken enchiladas( if I need to stretch meat I add diced zucchini and corn), chicken with pasta or chicken salad sandwiches, chow mein or Chinese chicken salad( one of these options)all stretched with veg, fruit like grapes, mandarin oranges,or whatever from our garden. Then carcass and meat on them I make some type of soup- chicken noodle, matzo ball soup, Chinese corn soup, wild rice, hot and sour soup, chicken tortilla soup, etc. Roast beef can be stretched to roast beef with mashed potatoes, veg, then fried rice, beef hash in the morning, beef sandwiches, or with stroganoff, steak tacos, Nam Tok beef salad, etc. All time saving measures if you are working or busy. Stewed chicken in taco seasoning and tomatoes can be base for chicken tortilla soup, chicken tacos, enchiladas or burritos, or with rice. Our motto we eat til leftovers are done!
Wow, you’re amazing! Cooking from scratch, raising chickens, etc. Good to see a young woman with some wisdom. God bless you & your family. I just subscribed and also recommended your channel to my DIL who has recently started making sourdough bread at home, and she also does a lot to save $. ❤👍🏼🙏🏼
Everything sounded delicious! Very healthy, too. It's so good for your children's teeth and health to limit sugary drinks. You're smart to limit desserts, too. It's amazing how much protein you're able to serve on a small budget. You're doing a great job feeding your family on about $125 dollars a week! Thank you for sharing your meal plan with us. Take care, Linda 🦋
You seem wise beyond your years. This is very refreshing to see. I commend you for what you are doing for your family. I subscribed because its always good to support other's and I hope to pick up a few ideas myself.
I love how frugal your meals are. A few years back I started making homemade pasta with all the extra quail and chicken eggs we get from our girls.Homemade pumpkin or squash waffles is another staple we always have ready for a quick breakfast. Friday nights for us is top your own pizza. I make Naan bread and use for pizza nights. Use what toppings you have left over in the refrig. We have a suburban lot that we grow almost all of our food except for things like flour, beans, rice, oats and dairy products. It's a labor of love to cook from scratch everyday. We turned our entire backyard into an edible food forest as well as make all our own compost. Look into maybe growing some Jerusalem Artichokes in your yard. It's a forever food and we harvest ours all throughout the winter months as long as the ground isn't completely frozen over.
We used our chickens to start new garden beds. Added in tons of leaves, grass clippings , wood ash, kitchen scraps and everyday just mounded it all up until the girls turned it all in for us. We are going on year 30 with the gardens and the chickens and the veggie beds are beautiful. We also brought in 3 free truck loads of wood chips to do all the pathways and around all the fruit trees. We use wood chips and shredded leaves as well as grass clippings in our chicken and duck runs. Within a year it's turned into compost to add to the garden beds. We have several patches of Jerusalem Artichokes which are a tuber you harvest under ground. The chickens and ducks love them as do we as a potato substitute. This year so far we have gathered about 400 leaf bags from around our neighborhood which is being used in the backyard and the compost heaps.
I was the same when my daughter was growing up, tea , coffee, milk water no fake juice or fizzy drinks and break is still health with porridge flavoured with honey, cinnamon or fruits or yogurt and fruit so she always had a healthy start to her day.
Love how you are meal planning from what's in your pantry, fridge & freezer since you purchase the same items each month. Your meals sound so delicious and filling!
This is a good selection of foods for meals. Because of high grocery prices in our area I have become a frugal cook, and especially use up cooked foods in the fridge before they go bad. I liked that your list of available drinks is the same as our own. We do not have sodas or alcoholic drinks in our home. Oats and eggs are a staple. I do not buy more than two kinds of fruit at one shopping food haul, unless they are deeply discounted that week. Looking over a store weekly flyer is a must to check for sales. Menu is made up of what's on sale.
You are one smart Momma! Simple meals, sound nutrition, full tummies, and your kids will learn to cook by watching the joy you provide in your kitchen. 💋. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
This was very helpful. I have a family of seven and enjoyed listening to your ideas. I shop once every two-three weeks to help with cost. I have found the more I limit "recipes" and specialty items we save a lot. I learned how to make my own breads and such and that was a huge savings. Please continue to share. Thanks for your time.
Your words are so kind ♥️ yes, staying away from following recipes to a T will save a lot of money. I always used them for inspiration. Thank you for being here and sharing your tips too!
Well done! Hearty soups are wonderful this time of year. We enjoy lentil soup with homemade bread. When we bake a ham, I always use the meaty ham bone for a batch of navy bean soup. I 😅l pressure can quarts of bean soup, so convenient!
I just purchased an oat flaker and waiting for it to come! We love oatmeal in our home. I use it for meatloaf, meatballs, salmon patties, cookies and breakfast. We really enjoy baked oatmeal. I buy oat groats in bulk and they are so creamy and delicious! They are also very filling. I was tired of buying oat groats and then having to spend the extra money on actual oatmeal so I finally found an oat flaker that is electric. I am so excited to get it. You may want to start an envelope to put aside money for an oat flaker because it will pay for itself in no time and the health benefits are amazing! You are a very wise young woman and I pray He keeps blessings you with His wisdom! Shalom ❤
Please dont take this as criticism, just a question. I was surprised to see you specifically list white rice. Is it cheaper or do you just prefer the flavour? Even on a shoestring budget some people will have distinct food preferences. I'm really enjoying your videos, so thank you. I cant do a lot of what you do (health issues that make it hard to get even 1 proper meal on each day), but the bits that I am able, we do as best we can. My son (28 now) recently heard about the concept of once a month cooking and is very keen to try something similar so when he gets home next week we're going to work on once a WEEK cooking. I'm thrilled he is jumping in and offering to be a full partner in the kitchen. Take care!😊
Thanks for the inspiration. I have started my panrty and plan on eating more at home.I just made a loaf of bread and tater soup that I got off of Southern frugal momma. It was a great cheap meal. I plan on getting a yogurt maker to make yogurt at a far cheaper cost. I want to try your oats and yogurt. It sounds good.
So helpful thank you 😊 great to see you include vegetables and fruits. This is a really healthy and delicious menu. Sending blessings from Katy from NZ 🙏💕
Your budget really inspires me. If you can do it, we can do it too. We seem to cook similar, I don't like to waste, but there are things I'm getting that we really don't need now. Since the shut down I feel like we've been spending more on food because we don't want to go back to that place, but it's killing our finances. Thank you for these videos.
Hi! I just found your channel and I'm glad I did, love your content! It's very relatable too, we're very frugal and I cook nearly everything from scratch. May the Lord bless your family. With regards to the meal plan- I was wondering if you ever eat fish, since it doesn't appear on the meal plan. We live in northern Africa and even though we don't live in a coastal region, fish is eaten a lot here (even more so in coastal regions). Perhaps it's just a Mediterranean thing to be eating fish that much, but I'm always surprised to find out that others don't eat fish that often. We also have a lot legumes. I'm happy to see legumes appearing on your menu, such as lentils and chickpeas.
Oooh, if you like hummus, you should try hummus, tomato, and cheese sandwiches when tomatoes are in season. Without tomato the texture is too creamy. I'll steal your idea too. 😉 🥰 This video is wonderful, thank you.
I loved your video. That’s a great meal plan. I just wanted to add, people shouldn’t be afraid of carbohydrates. They get a bad wrap, but they are essential for your body’s energy. People should technically eat between 6-11 servings of carbohydrates a day just to function. The problem now-a-days is not the carbohydrates, but the processed food and the negative impacts to the body. Those processed foods and fast foods is what leads to obesity and diabetes. Im no skinny legend, but I never shy away from carbs. Keep up the good work. Love your channel.
You are so mature for your age. Loved your heartfelt story that I watched yesterday on buying your home. So touching and so much wisdom for a young person. Your parents must be so proud of you. I know I am. Great job. Have you ever heard of Suzanne E Wells. She is a eBay seller from things she buys from goodwill and thrift stores and items she finds on the side of the road. I think you would be great at making extra money by learning from her u tube channel. Also I think you would find the stories of others that she interviews once a week on how they sell on eBay and how easy to make extra money. Let me know if you found this helpful to earn extra money for your family. Love your channel and your believes.💕
I just found your channel and I’ve really been enjoying your videos! You have inspired me to cook more from scratch and watch out for waste! When you’ve got a lot of eggs, have you ever tried making pudding out of hard boiled eggs? It’s absolutely delicious and a great way to use up an over abundance of eggs!
I just found your channel and I really like it. I don't purchase soda either. My kids are grown so it's just me but I would love to stay on a budget and learn how to be a little more frugal just because I still have my grandkids that come over
I believe that anyone should keep Sprite, 7-up or Ginger Ale on hand for when anyone gets sick( stomach bug, etc), plus Jello, popsicles. Also fruit juice for things like flu, etc. to help our bodies fight these things and to keep dehydration from happening. Most people can’t hold down just water. Also, baked potatoes, bananas and saltine crackers. Just staples that I try to have on hand all the time.
I have known people on extreme budgets and dialy meat consumption was not part of the deal....typically meat would be roast chicken on a sunday (or chicken soup) and then pick on it through the week, and every few weeks swap that sunday for steak instead of chicken....and the rest of the week -- cooked vegetables, rice, various beans, yogurt, home made bread, cheese, pasta. etc.
I have seen a few of your videos since coming across your channel a couple of days ago and you have mentioned that we need to learn the skills of traditional homemade cooking, but how are we supposed to learn without anyone to help teach us? All my grandparents are gone and when I was a child learning to cook was not something I was allowed to do and my parent often made packaged or other processed foods.
You have a great meal plan for your family. I like stretching my left overs in to new meals . The bread we would have to find an alternative . Family of 4 with 3 diabetics. So we limit things like bread, potatoes and rice . We eat them but in very limited amounts. We use low carb veggies to round out our meals .
If you are a Costco member, go to the business section of the freezer where they have meat. I buy 40 pounds of drumsticks for about $23! I section it into freezer bags and they are delicious! I have learned to be very creative with drum sticks. Our favorite is to have them with homemade barbecue sauce.
@@Pippy-f8r I will take a look! I’m not sure if we have this at ours. My husband’s friend did introduce him to the actual business Costco about 25 minutes from our house. They sell enormous amounts even compared to normal Costcos. You can buy whole lambs, goats, 50 pounds of beef, etc. it’s definitely a savings! Things like cereal, vanilla, flour, granola bars, pancake mix etc are all significantly cheaper. It’s more for stores/restaurants tho so there is a lot of boxed foods. It’s fun to look at the commercial kitchen wares though!
so that broth cooks non stop forever? Arent you afraid that the whol pot will go sour/spoil because you never got rid of the original stuff from 9 years ago? What about the electric it takes to have that burner on all the time? I make homemade stock too, but after its done I freeze it and start over. I have a zip lock in my freezer that I put all my onion skins, pepper pieces/stocks etc, left over canned or frozen veggies and meat bones into. When its full, I dump it into my crockpot with some seasonings and any other veggies in my fridge that arent going to make it much longer and cook it for 24 hours and then freeze it in quart zip lock bags.
@@TheProductiveHomemaker Could you address in that video on your perpetual broth pot what someone might do who has a gas stove? I've watched alot of content similar to yours over the years, but you are the first person I've ever heard talk about this. I'm very intrigued, but have so many concerns. The main one being, I have a gas stove, and I just can't fathom leaving a burner on perpetually! I'm a new subscriber, I find you wonderfully genuine and refreshing! God bless you as your channel grows! 💞
Did you know you can make a barbecue pizza out of the chicken or any pulled pork…also instead of having pot pie twice you could have a chicken spaghetti casserole, use your carrots to make a cream of carrot & ginger soup. Also, if you start a soup container for any vegetables that is not enough to be repurposed in other meals, leave it in your freezer, by the end of the month you will have enough for a vegetable soup..any scraps of pork or beef( including ground beef, roast with gravy can be added to it too) then all you have to do is place in your slow cooker or cook on top of stove…just add whatever your family likes. Add a skillet of homemade cornbread and you have enough for a large family and to see you through until payday. Plus, rice is cheap and filling. Can make some rice pudding with pumpkin in it for dessert or a warm breakfast. Also, bread pudding for same also. Bananas are wonderful in a bread pudding and add potassium. Throw in some pecans if no nut allergies adds protein along with the egg custard to make the pudding. My son loves homemade pumpkin waffles with my homemade syrup that I add a little rum extract to, along with either sausage patty or couple slices of bacon. I buy a pork loin roast, get two roast and eight pork chops out of it…while breaking it down I save all fatty pieces and make sausage out of it in my food processor…a little seasoning and sometimes I add a little fresh apple to it to keep it from drying out and adds great flavor…I get four to six nice size patties out of it. Also, if you buy a package of wonton wrappers you can use the tiniest of chicken pieces to make potstickers out of with dipping sauce made from little soy sauce, water, tiny bit of sugar or honey. Maybe serve with an egg drop soup since you have so many chickens and eggs. Just some more ideas.
This is a wonderful meal plan. Great nutrition and yummy too
Great meal plan !!

I watch a channel called Mama Baird and she has a lot of inspiration about how to be extremely frugal on a budget too. 🙏

It is very easy to make your own cordial. Nothing but goodness and its lovely with water or fizzy water.
If you have a lot of eggs, try popovers. Recipes can be found online….so good with jam. Same recipe can be used for crepes to wrap around leftovers.
Oh yum! That’s a great idea

NZ, wow! Thanks for watching!
Great ideas! What is the Fridge Dump Soup?
Thank you for sharing. 😊
Only juice I buy is cranberry juice for bladder issues
So glad you popped up on my list to watch!!❤
♥️♥️♥️
Your budget really inspires me. If you can do it, we can do it too. We seem to cook similar, I don't like to waste, but there are things I'm getting that we really don't need now. Since the shut down I feel like we've been spending more on food because we don't want to go back to that place, but it's killing our finances. Thank you for these videos.
You’re so right, if I can do it, so can you ♥️ you’ve got this!
Thank you for the effort you put into this video!
We love fish! But unfortunately, it’s very expensive where we live. So it’s a summertime treat when we can go fishing.
I can see your mouth watering as you describe your dishes! Mine too!
My son is an oatmeal fanatic too. He likes peanut butter and chia seeds in it. Those chia seeds are mega brain food.
Oh that sounds good!
Sounds wonderful, well balanced and nutritious! ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Love this please do more meal plan videos!!
Just found your channel last night… thank you so much for your awesomeness!!! 🙏
Welcome to the community!!
Love your channel
Great meal plan!
Very helpful - thanks !
I’m glad you enjoyed!
Hello! Could you please share your hummus recipe?😊
I love your meal plan! 🥘
Thank you for your kind words! 💕
Really enjoy your style of videos ❤
I’m glad you are enjoying them. Thank you for being here 💕
Me too! ❤
Great video! Do you make your own dog food? We have two and Im knoticing dog food is going up. Thank you
No not currently. It’s something we’d like try one day though!
Oh that sounds good!
It all sounds delicious and very informative
Thank you!
I just found your channel and I really like it. I don't purchase soda either. My kids are grown so it's just me but I would love to stay on a budget and learn how to be a little more frugal just because I still have my grandkids that come over
Could you please do meal preparation and cook list recipes
Sure 😊 it’s on the list!
Newly subscribed. And blessed 🙏
Thank you for being here 💕
How do you make your homemade hummus?
I have known people on extreme budgets and dialy meat consumption was not part of the deal....typically meat would be roast chicken on a sunday (or chicken soup) and then pick on it through the week, and every few weeks swap that sunday for steak instead of chicken....and the rest of the week -- cooked vegetables, rice, various beans, yogurt, home made bread, cheese, pasta. etc.
What is sunshine milk?😊
Can you share how you make your sourdough starter. Thank you
Yes I will!
Do you have a video on how you do your sour dough starter
That makes sense! It sounds like you’ve found a great way to make your budget work for your family ♥️
Do you buy whole milk in a bottle or do you mix powdered milk?
🙋🏼♀️🇦🇺
Dang haven’t seen chicken thighs for $1.50 in awhile 🤣
But goodness the frozen veg seems expensive? It’s so interesting to see the price differences!
Yeah, our frozen vegetables have gone up over the last year 🙁
If you are a Costco member, go to the business section of the freezer where they have meat.
You got a good recipe to make sour dough starter?
Can you share your sour dough starter recipe?
❤
♥️
Just curious, where do you buy your groceries from? Store brand. You said you didn’t shop Walmart.
I typically shop at Sam’s club
What is Sunshine milk?
It’s a sweetened milk drink. I’ll share a recipe soon ♥️
so that broth cooks non stop forever?
I’ll be doing a video here soon on it to explain how it works. It’s safe and a great option for a kitchen that’s always “on”
@@TheProductiveHomemaker Could you address in that video on your perpetual broth pot what someone might do who has a gas stove? I've watched alot of content similar to yours over the years, but you are the first person I've ever heard talk about this. I'm very intrigued, but have so many concerns. The main one being, I have a gas stove, and I just can't fathom leaving a burner on perpetually!
I'm a new subscriber, I find you wonderfully genuine and refreshing! God bless you as your channel grows! 💞
@@joannajoyhelmuth7286hi I have seen so online do it in a slow cooker/ crockpot,
Did you know you can make a barbecue pizza out of the chicken or any pulled pork…also instead of having pot pie twice you could have a chicken spaghetti casserole, use your carrots to make a cream of carrot & ginger soup.
These are wonderful tips! Thank you for sharing them!
❤❤❤🙏🕊️
i buy ezekiel bread which is far too pricey
I wish my kids liked rice, but it's not very well liked in my house, neither is mashed potatoes or beans.
Troppa carne e poche verdure.
