Thanks for this! It was the kiwi $50 that caught my attention, otherwise I would have thought this was another American channel. Great to have some relatable local content. I have shared this already.
I am 81, living in USA. I have cooked like this my whole life. My kids always said “mom can make a meal out of a paper bag filled with rocks”. Haha. Budget cooking comes from growing up poor and having a bunch of hungry kids. Love your style.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I'm an 18 year old Auckland who's moved out of home for the first time and myself and my flatmates have really been struggling with affording groceries that we can still make versatile meals with!! This is so helpful for young people trying to learn the system. Thank you!
I have many more videos that should help you guys studying. Watch out for them and please make sure you subscribe and share so you can see them. Best of luck with your studies. Stace
I think I speak for a lot of young kiwi when I say you are an internet mum we need!! ❤🙏 Sending prayers and dollars to help with your time off work for your knee
This video should be shown in schools, great for kids to learn the cost of ingredients and how much you can make for the price of one visit to Maccas for a family. Thanks Stacey xxx
You are an absolute gem. A salt of the earth, gorgeous, superstar of a woman! Thank you for this brilliant content, it’s such a great community service. I’m so sorry about your knee 😢 I feel certain that this channel will keep growing and soon provide you with an income ❤
Great to see a NZ'er doing this type of video! We definitely eat a different variety of meals to our overseas counterparts. Thank you for the effort that you have put into creating these videos, I'm looking forward to following along with you. 😊
Fellow kiwi here, I agree about us eating different to other countries. I watch a lot of American videos like this and I notice they have common meals and ingredients that I wasn't familiar with. Like I notice they use a lot of powdered garlic and powdered onion, which I didn't even know existed before watching their videos 😂
So glad I found your video!can't believe that was $50! Amazing!I am from South Africa but been living in NZ for 5 years now. Gotta say, your meals are very much like what I will make in my own kitchen as a mom of 3 boys and a husband who likes food!😂surprising me every day how similar us Saffas and Kiwis are!
I thrive on “making something out of nothing” as well. Whilst someone else is complaining there’s nothing to eat and I’ve got next to nothing I’d present miraculous meals! Loaves and Fishes styles! It’s a skill…Love it!
I love it when teenagers look in a cupboard and say there is nothing to eat, but what they really mean is there is nothing convenient to eat or junkie.
I find buying cheap rice and pasta is a waste because they just turn to mush and are revolting. (That doesn’t mean buying the most expensive, but mid range-around $2.00 per package works)Good quality rice and pasta can withstand reheating and doesn’t go from uncooked to mushy in the blink of an eye, and work far better for baked/slowcooked dishes.
My granny used to say "if there's an egg in the house, there's a meal in the house." My parents were raised during the depression, no waste in our house growing up. And we ate what was put in front of us (I still detest broad beans, brains and tripe 🤣 but I still ate them) and so will my children, right down to brussels sprouts, and pretty much any other veg I serve them.
I'm very impressed you have done all that cooking, plating up, cleaning, filming, editing not to mention shopping all by yourself. I'd be very overwhelmed and stressed out. Very good budget meals. Impressive and well done. :)
Just wanted to send you some good blessings, I'm sorry about the news of your knee, I'm currently unemployed and know that horrible feeling when you don't have a proper income. You seem like a really savvy lady, a woman who gives off the energy of love and abundance even when you may not have a lot. I hope that good things come your way and your knee heals. Thanks for the great content, I've learnt a lot from your content! Love from South Australia
Oh gosh, what a lovely comment. Thank you so much for not only watching but also taking the time to leave me a comment so thoughtfully. I'm so very pleased you are enjoying the channel and all that I have to share. Take care for now Stace x
I was so impressed to watch you make all of this for 50 dollars. It's the first time you popped up on my feed. Thank you for inspiring ideas for cooking on a budget.
Just subscribed. My type of cooking. Good to have another New Zealand channel to watch. Found you on Three Rivers Homestead. I dry herbs as well so was nice to see you using them in your cooking. Will be looking to see your other videos. Thank you very much.
Hi from Your Aussie neighbour. Can’t believe how versatile you are in the kitchen. 60 meals that’s almost 3 weeks worth of meals. You are amazing. Sending to my daughter who has a family of 6-7 people to cook for.
It’s a blessing seeing a kiwi cook on here. My mum use to cook the same way as you. She made a meal out of nothing. That’s how i cook today. I am going to follow you on here, yes I live in Rotorua New Zealand. Thank you so much for blessing us with how you shop and cook on a budget. I’m loving your videos. Have a happy day
@catherinechandler3250 You should be able to get bags of garlic powder from your local Asian vegie shop. I get a 200g bag from mine for $3.99. It lasts for quite some time. Compared to 50g jar from super market at the same price. I'm a Kiwi by the way 👍
Incredible!! Just awesome! This is the stuff that should be taught in schools. Young peoole haven't got a clue what to do with real food anymore. I just stumbled upon this channel by the way and subscribed right away. Much love from Northern Ontario, Canada.💕💕
Ain't no recession gonna fuel my depression! I can't wait to try these meals out! Edit: I just finished the video and I've never been so excited to cook! This video taught me waaaay more than anybody else has! I used to just find a beginner recipe and try following it and that would only make me frustrated and dread cooking. You've made cooking more accessible and exciting for me :) Thank you so much!
Oh thank you sweetheart. You showed me what I could do in reality with $50. I am a mother to five grown up kids but live alone now & I don’t bother with making big dishes but watching you do this on a budget & with delicious meals at the end I can freeze meals & share some with my single friends & eat better as a consequence. I feel the heat you suffered through as I live in Perth Western Australia and it’s been horrendously hot. Weeks of plus forty degrees Celsius so I sweated with you. I am now subscribed so thank you so much and I hope you got off that knee and took it steady as I could see you hobble towards the end & your grimaces of pain were real. Much love & *virtual hugs* from my hot home to yours ❤❤❤
Hello neighbor! I actually lived in Perth for 4 years. Took my six children on my OE lol. I truly know what heat you are talking about and It takes your breath away. I still have family over there and get to come over and visit. Thanks so much for taking time out to watch and leave me a comment and yes the pain was definitely getting worse by the end of it. Take care and I hope to hear from you again. p.s That's a great idea about sharing with friends.
If you are ever over here & in the area of Karrinyup let me know as it would be fun to catch up & talk war stories lol. By then my freezer will be stocked with meals as I can cook, I just decided to have long service leave from it, hahaha I let all my boys cook when they were little, I just cleaned up afterwards & all 3 cook in their homes as a consequence & my middle son is a Head Chef (he takes credit for all my dishes, but I still make the best mash & gravy from the pan juices.... To this day) Thank you for making me think in a whole other way regarding food In this cost of living crisis. I am so glad I am not trying to feed 7 family members at today's prices. I hope your knee has had a rest since your marathon cooking session. 💜💋💜
Fantastic the way you stretched those ingredients into such hearty meals. I am glad you did not include sugar and butter in your menu as groceries are sooo expensive in NZ now and I feel you have inspired us to take away ideas to help feed our families for less ❤
Honestly the whole video feels like I'm chatting to my mum and getting advice from her. It sounds dumb but it's actually made me tear up. She's not passed, but hasn't been doing well lately and you remind me so much of her. Wish you all the best. Good luck with your knee!! I hope your channel pops off so you can get some of that youtube money!!! Best of luck. Lots of love from Aus xx
P.S. That leftover rice would make a lovely rice pudding that would be a lovely dessert over the month with a bit of extra milk & some sugar. So glad you popped into my feed. Again thank you ❤❤❤
We are a couple who moved from Auckland to rural South otago for a more sustainable lifestyle. I've just found your channel and am loving it, love hearing a kiwi voice.
I love how you just 'bung' it in. We have been stuck at home with covid and ran out of groceries, but you inspired me to dig deep with the lentils, veges in the garden and rice to get through. Thank you
Hi Stacey 👋really love your channel! We are a family of 5 in South Otago. I'm really trying to cut down our food budget this year, luckily we have not had to buy fruit and veggies for the last couple of months after 5 years of hard work in our gardens and we have chickens. So nice to have a kiwi channel to watch 😊
Hello! Thanks so much for watching. I'm so pleased you are enjoying some Kiwi content. I really wanted to have lots of content for us showing me using our Kiwi products etc. Well done on getting the gardens up and running. I hope one day I will have the garden of my dreams as well.
Excellent video to teach many young people how to cook on a budget. this needs to be on our TV to replace the foreign quiz show from 5 to 6pm.I'm sure it would be a winner for health.
What an amazingly smart use of ingredients for what looked like wonderful meals! Yes, please do more videos like this. You're truly inspiring, Thank you!
This is really awesome..I wish i could somehow share this with all those kiwi families that are struggling.. if there are 21 meals a week (3x7) you effectively just feed 3 adults or a family of 4 (younger children) for $50 very impressive.
What I love about this type of video is they trigger alternative ideas ... for example I would probs swap out sausage meat & eggs for a packet of nutitional yeast flakes, the bread for packet lentils, & oats for chia seeds. It's so inspiring to hear someone else cooks on the fly like me & watch them bash out more than a week's worth of meals in a compact kitchen very similar in size to mine 👌 When my kids were little I'd get 3 meals from 1 large tin of tuna for family of 5. Thxs very much for sharing & inspiring & g'day from across the ditch ❤ 🦘
@FarmersWifeHomestead by the way did you know you could have used some of your bread as a thickener instead of flour? 😍 Substituting this for that might make an interesting video/ playlist 😇
Love the Video! Just wanted to clarify, they don't hold out the cheap bread so you have to purchase the more expensive bread , it's because the cheap bread is needed by many, if they put it all out at once it will be sold out before lunch, meaning any families that NEED to purchase cheap bread but can only access the shop in the afternoon would always be out of luck, of course they cant ensure you wil get it but that is what they do, to try make sure alot of people have access to it throughout the day, they release some in the morning, lunch time and afternoon around 4ish. its sold out very quickly, at least in my area of Auckland.
i personally love being able to make lots meals for cheap so i can spend on other things i love. love the splitting the Asian greens packet into different separate ingredients...Brilliant :)
Thank you for your meal ideas not everyone has an expensive lifestyle keep posting your videos for the everyday person that is trying to provide for their family these recipes are helpful thank you
You look fine. What a difference your prep work made! You were able to use a bit of this and that with no delays. I enjoyed your 50 dollar challenge. Food looks amazing. I hope you enjoy your feast. ~Brenda in America~
This videos amazing, I spent 50 bucks at Woolworths this morning in Hamilton, I got body wash, toothpaste, stir-fry sachets x5, a can of lynx, a bottle of milk an a pack of mi goring noodles Were in the middle of a depression in New Zealand an I guess many parts of the world
It takes a bit more money upfront, but those sachets are poor value for money compared to investing in a few ingredients. Soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, sweet chilli sauce, oyster sauce (as examples - the actual list depends on what flavour you like) and you'll be able to whip up the equivalent amount of sauce so many more times. Actually kiwis in general LOVE sachets of stuff (Maggi anyone?) but they're just a few cents of spices and flour and salt that they then charge you a giant mark up on.
Fabulous! So neat to see a Kiwi cook using the ingredients that we have available here in NZ. Gave me some great ideas dividing up that Pam’s Asian Vege pack - used that this weekend when we were sick and missed our usual grocery shop, and managed to make a healthy meal of Surimi Pasta Salad with what we had lurking in freezer and back of pantry. Hope your channel soars!!
Hey hey, just found your channel yesterday, I'm an Aussie and seeing you hold that $50 I knew it wasn't another American channel, I also love making meals up with what I have in cupboards and limited food shopping, I've just started making all types,of easy cheap soups, buying what ever veg is on sale and doing what I can with spices I have at home, but thank you for making me think I should start making my own stock, will save me even more money not buying it. Will now be spam watching you to learn other tricks, I'm 43 but you never to old to learn new things. Thank you again.
Thank you all the way from UK. Great ideas which I’m going to incorporate. So many in the Uk haven’t a clue how to cook properly. Too many on fast foods, and processed muck. I do hope you get relief soon for your knee.
Wow thats was incredible 55 meals for $50.You looked exhausted after cooking that lot so I hope you found some time for a little self pampering 😊👍 you deserve it and I hope your family appreciates you. I certainly do. Thanks Stacey ...love all you do ❤❤❤😊
You remind me of my wonderful mum, She brought up 8 children on this kind of cooking. Ww2 taught her to be resourceful like you. England was her home, and she married a kiwi bloke there, and came to nz as a war bride, She would admire you too for sure , Thanks luv. ❤😊
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. My grandfather was from England and came out here by boat when he was just sixteen. How brave they were back then! Thanks so much for watching.
This is great to see! My Nana used to cook like this because she grew up in a large family and also lived during both World Wars when everything was expensive and in short supply. She used to always say, if you have an egg, you have a meal. She was a caterer and knew how to make a meal out of just a handful of ingredients. I learned to be quite creative with what I have on hand too. Great channel!
My first time watching. I subscribed. You are a real magician! No tricks, just your wisdom as a creative cook. Well done. You are doing a great service. Thank you. All the best with your knee. Take care of yourself. 🍽✌🌻
I think farm women know how too cook hearty meals with whatever ingredients they have. I learned this style of cooking from my farmers wife grandma 💕 hi from the Scottish Highlands 😎👍
You are a beautiful woman shearing your passion to help fellow Kiwis, my family live near Thames and like everyone struggling to put food on the table and you give us hope, thank you.
So many great things about this video and I’m only around 10 mins in. Stacey, you’re doing our beautiful country a service. Thank you for providing local content so relevant to NZ. 🇳🇿❤️
@FarmersWifeHomestead tbh i think that theres more to be gained for everyone seeing you cook how you really would. A splash of vinegar or a spoon of sugar arent going to make us think youre cheating!
Just discovered your channel - LOVE IT! You cook like I do. I am almost 73 years young & come from a "cook from scratch" farm family in state of Iowa, USA. Now I realize the cost saving/money stretching meals she made! I appreciate her so much now! Maybe she is looking down on me from Heaven and knows how much I love her! :-)
I'm 55(in Ohio), & mom didn't scratch cook. I grew up in the era where moms wanted to be in the workforce instead of the home. The weekends were a treat because she'd make tuna noodle casserole 1 night and spaghetti and real meatballs the next instead of us eating the usual old fashioned TV dinners 😣 I didn't want my children to eat processed food, so I read OLD cookbooks, watched cooking shows, and then was beyond blessed to have an amazing 90yo lady from church take me under her wing & teach me how to cook delicious food from almost nothing the old frugal way! Because of her, when my children arrived, I was able to feed them healthy meals & help stretch our 1 paycheck.(I chose to stay at home after thinking about my lonely, latchkey years.) I started to teach my daughters and son to cook as soon as they could sit on a counter and stir! I'm proud to say that they all are great frugal scratch cooks who are now teaching their children, and in my son's case, his wife! Never stop cooking! So many of us do when we get older, but we deserve to have good food , too! BTW, She knows how much you love her!💞
I just found you, and immediately subscribed. I absolutely appreciate the amount of work you put into this video. I am amazed at not only the amount of food you were able to make with $50, but the degree of quality and healthiness you maintained from beginning to end. I suspect you could stretch those 55 meals into 60+ by adding a side scoop of rice to most of them. (Side note...Our food prices here in the US appear to be very similar)
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I was even surprised at how much I got. The videos I watch seem like US is getting more expensive as well. Thank you for subbing, it means a lot :-)
Chur chur. I have no idea why the YT algorithm recommended your video to me as it's not usually the type of content I watch but I'm stoked it did - bloody awesome content!
So impressive! My husband would eat everything you cooked, which says a lot!!😊 Your kitchen is really cute, I love your decorating style. Greetings from the great Northwest, Washington state.
I was just wrapped to see your channel come on to my feed today love the vid, We need a good regular kiwi cook You actually brought back memories of watching mum cook on the farm back in the day…so a new sub here cheers from Queenstown
Loved your video, I've seen a few like these but this is the first kiwi version. My husband has done the FODMAP elimination diet to figure out what he could and couldn't eat and unfortunately onions/garlic was one of the worst offenders. I felt like I had to learn how to cook all over again, especially as so much processed food contains onions so I had to learn (and be organised enough) to make everything from scratch just like you were doing in this video - it certainly is cheaper and tastier. Also eggs! So sad they have become as expensive as other proteins. My Mum always says if there's an egg in the house there's a meal.
I can relate, I'm actually supposed to do the FODMAP as well but I've not pulled the pin on it yet. Very true about the egg in the house statement. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave me a comment and for watching as well.
Very Impressive! The $50 NZD caught my eye also, and I have also subbed😊. Your video has inspired me also. The cost of living is crazy..I Need to get on this bandwagon. I also love that this is kiwi inspired and makes so much sense. I'm now going to share your video with friends and family. Thank you for your effort and time in creating this video . I look forward to seeing more from you. I wish you All the best
I watched for five minutes and subscribed. You are just like me! I LOVE cooking this way. I raised my children cooking like this and it's time to do it again! I swear, you and I are soooo much alike! I LOVE your video!!! You are one seriously creative soul!
Just noticed you on my TH-cam feed,so had to look, wow, you are amazing, and so fast! Loving this, will watch all your Video's now, great ideas to help stretch our Food Dollars, thank you❤
Wow...Just phenomenal. This is a fantastic example of what can be done on a budget. As a bachelor I have picked up some new things to try, and would never have thought of dissecting the Chinese frozen mix. Guess what tomorrow's job is 🙂. Thank you for the brilliant content, and now subscribed 👍. Cheers Pete' Hokitika.
1st time seeing your video, the title of your video caught my eye as I need to save money and also cook more. Awesome recipes and easy to put together, I'll definitely give all the of them a crack (except the overnight oats). Thank you for sharing this video and I hope you get heaps of new subscribers (I've now subscribed), views and likes so we can all help you out. Hope things go well with your knee and also with funds, all the best!!
Thanks so much for your lovely comment. Thank you also for subbing. I'm not a huge fan of oats but the overnight oats I actually like. It's really good with some yogurt as well. Thanks heaps for your support. Watching the ads helps me out too.
Wow. I've just stumbled across your youtube channel. That's how I cook, just go with the flow and create whatever comes to mind, but seriously I really love what you've done with $50!!! Amazing!!! Good on ya. Wish I came across you ages ago.
Hi Stacey, I’m a kiwi gal and I’ve just found your channel and I love it! So many great ideas to save money for families! I love your kiwi down to earth approach and effort you put into your videos. Thank you 🙏 keep up the great mihi!
Thank you for sharing this! Definitely got some ideas on how to be more frugal. Really appreciate the effort and time you've put in to make these videos, especially with how terrible supermarket prices are at the moment. Thanks again 😊
Just found your channel tonight! I'm so excited to find a kiwi who is passionate about cooking on a budget, so much of what you do is relatable for me as a NZ mum of 5! Loved this video and looking forward to watching more!
Thank you, thank you for showing hopefully a lot of people that home cooking is far more economical than going to KFC/McDonalds, and it is not difficult. This is what our mothers taught us, how to make nutritious, cost-efficient and tasty meals from scratch.
Stacey, you are a F O R C E, a POWERHOUSE!!! God bless you! I completely love your energy, and am grateful for your beautiful presence. Sending you huge healing wishes. May God keep you safe! 🙏🏻🤍🌷
Thank you so much for your very kind words and your blessings. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Keep an eye out for tomorrow's video. Take care Stace
I can’t believe all the meals you made and the price, and all just thought up on the spot 🤯 Thank you so much for making this, I’ll definitely have to go through again to write everything down. So amazing!
I feel like jumping up and down and cheering you. I'm a 74 year old Aussie and I immediately subscribed and the "realness " you show is fabulous. O how we've been suckered into all the fancy stuff. It's so not necessary. also we never use up all our herbs flour sauces and so forth so it would have been ok to use bits of them. Next week you are going to be ahead already so even at one ingredient a week you'll soon have a wonderfully stocked pantry without blowing your budget.
Thanks so much for your comment. It means a lot you took the time out to do so. Also thank you for subscribing as well. I'm so pleased you have enjoyed the channel so far. Take care Stace
Baked oatmeal is super yum! Pams coconut milk is $1.40 a can at New World or 4 square and its the creamiest,, tastiest. Add that in place of regular milk it's delicious.
Thanks for the tips! I was super nice, next time I will allow myself some honey to slightly sweeten it. Mind you it might not need it with coconut milk! Thanks for watching.
@FarmersWifeHomestead I should of added.... do coconut milk and a mashed banana with cinnamon and vanilla then a sliced banana on top as well before cooking... so yummy. Or do similar but use apple. A grated apple... It's nice with warm milk tipped over before serving or cold with a cuppa.
Well done. I would have added a scoop of rice to the last meal to fill the plate but you did really well for only $50. There were a couple of recipes I will try, especially the cupcake meal. Thank you for sharing. BTW the Hello Fresh recipes have pantry items and you would have expected to have the balsamic in your pantry so you could have used that without cheating, as well as the butter or marge. Anyway, I enjoyed watching.
Thanks for this! It was the kiwi $50 that caught my attention, otherwise I would have thought this was another American channel. Great to have some relatable local content. I have shared this already.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for sharing it as well.
as an American i thought it was British.. so I clicked. 😭😭 soz.
As a Canadian, I thought it was Canadian. Looked a bit different but I thought it’s been a while since I had a fifty in my hands lol.
As a Mexican it looks exactly like our new 50 peso plastic Bill

I totally agree with you. Mumma of six and we only had one income. I learned a lot in those years. Thanks for watching
Hahaha love it!
Fridge soup saved me many skimpy dinner ,3 hungry boys😮❤
So you’re the author of Stone Soup!
Did your kids figure out how you did it?

What a wonderful compliment!

Separating an assortment frozen veg bag is quite frankly genius!! Thanks for that tip ❤
This video should be shown in schools, great for kids to learn the cost of ingredients and how much you can make for the price of one visit to Maccas for a family. Thanks Stacey xxx
Exactly, much more fun too if you can get the kids involved in learning to cook.
Or maybe run this video in the WINZ waiting room, instead of ads to join the Police!! Im going to suggest that.!!
You are an absolute gem. A salt of the earth, gorgeous, superstar of a woman! Thank you for this brilliant content, it’s such a great community service. I’m so sorry about your knee 😢 I feel certain that this channel will keep growing and soon provide you with an income ❤

Loved watching your cook up. My Mum also uses oats to thicken her veggie soup. ;)
There are heaps of people In Aotearoa that are doing these types of video's. They are mainly on tiktok though
The NZ $50 note caught my eye too. Food is getting ridiculously expensive so I really appreciate your video. Well done 👏
Yes! Thank you!
I'm just so moved by your authenticness, and realness. Thank you for making this channel. 💝💖
Thank you so much for your "Thanks" It is so nice of you to do that for me. I'm just so pleased people are enjoying the channel. I so appreciate it X

Amazing thank you! Check out today's video as well. It will be helpful too. Thanks so much for watching.
Have a happy day
Wow, thanks so much. We don't live too far apart. I'm looking forward to filming the next one soon. Thank you for subbing
I have never been able to cook and have always felt useless and thanks to you I now feel really good thank you so much ❤❤❤
Wow you go girl. Someone should give you a job of teaching people how to cook like this. You are amazing. I hope you get your knee sorted.
Thanks so much. So nice of you!
Where do you get your garlic powder from and how do you keep it from getting hard? @@FarmersWifeHomestead
@catherinechandler3250 You should be able to get bags of garlic powder from your local Asian vegie shop. I get a 200g bag from mine for $3.99. It lasts for quite some time. Compared to 50g jar from super market at the same price. I'm a Kiwi by the way 👍
@@temetatauz oh thank you, that's good to know. How do you keep it? I had mine in a tupperware spice keeper and the powder went hard. I'm a kiwi too!
Incredible!! Just awesome! This is the stuff that should be taught in schools. Young peoole haven't got a clue what to do with real food anymore.
I just stumbled upon this channel by the way and subscribed right away. Much love from Northern Ontario, Canada.💕💕
Wow, thank you! I'm so grateful you have subbed as well.
I have never seen NZ $50 spent and stretched SO well! Thank you, I’m feeling very inspired 😊
By then my freezer will be stocked with meals as I can cook, I just decided to have long service leave from it, hahaha
I let all my boys cook when they were little, I just cleaned up afterwards & all 3 cook in their homes as a consequence & my middle son is a Head Chef (he takes credit for all my dishes, but I still make the best mash & gravy from the pan juices.... To this day) Thank you for making me think in a whole other way regarding food In this cost of living crisis. I am so glad I am not trying to feed 7 family members at today's prices.
I hope your knee has had a rest since your marathon cooking session. 💜💋💜
I share the same..
Fantastic the way you stretched those ingredients into such hearty meals. I am glad you did not include sugar and butter in your menu as groceries are sooo expensive in NZ now and I feel you have inspired us to take away ideas to help feed our families for less ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
$4.60 for a pound of butter in Warehouse lol...
I buy my dairydale milk from the dairy, $5:50 for 2x2l...😊
@@sherryashby2634 If you lucky to catch some at TWH. My local Pakn save sells Pam's butter for $4.29. Dozen eggs @ TWH for $5 though for the win 🎉
@@sherryashby2634 I've just discovered that cheap butter at The Warehouse. And the cheaper cheese $8 for an 800 gram block.
Lots of love from Aus xx
thank you :-)
You have a talent! So glad to have this channel here during these times. You are awesome!!
Thank you so much! Your support is very much appreciated.
P.S. That leftover rice would make a lovely rice pudding that would be a lovely dessert over the month with a bit of extra milk & some sugar. So glad you popped into my feed. Again thank you ❤❤❤
Hello and yes I did think about the rice pudding but was absolutely done by then haha. Thanks so much for watching.
You took the words right out of my mouth, I was thinking the same x
We are a couple who moved from Auckland to rural South otago for a more sustainable lifestyle. I've just found your channel and am loving it, love hearing a kiwi voice.
Awesome! Thank you! I love seeing more Kiwis are now watching. I'm so glad you are enjoying it. The South Otago is a magical part of NZ.
I love how you just 'bung' it in. We have been stuck at home with covid and ran out of groceries, but you inspired me to dig deep with the lentils, veges in the garden and rice to get through. Thank you
I'm sorry you are all sick, we have just got over it as well. I'm so pleased you were able to get some ideas from the video. Take care
I absolutely enjoyed this video!! So much you can do with ingredients. People just don’t understand cooking with your heart!!! ♥️
You are a magician. Good on you, amazing use of $50!!
Thank you so much! That is so generous of you and I really appreciate it.
Excellent video to teach many young people how to cook on a budget. this needs to be on our TV to replace the foreign quiz show from 5 to 6pm.I'm sure it would be a winner for health.
Thanks so much 😊
What an amazingly smart use of ingredients for what looked like wonderful meals! Yes, please do more videos like this.
You're truly inspiring, Thank you!
Thanks so much! 😊 New one up tomorrow, I think you will love it.
This is really awesome..I wish i could somehow share this with all those kiwi families that are struggling.. if there are 21 meals a week (3x7) you effectively just feed 3 adults or a family of 4 (younger children) for $50 very impressive.
I wish I could share it more widely as well. I appreciate you watching and for the positive comment. Thank you! I will definitely be doing this again.
What I love about this type of video is they trigger alternative ideas ... for example I would probs swap out sausage meat & eggs for a packet of nutitional yeast flakes, the bread for packet lentils, & oats for chia seeds.
It's so inspiring to hear someone else cooks on the fly like me & watch them bash out more than a week's worth of meals in a compact kitchen very similar in size to mine 👌
When my kids were little I'd get 3 meals from 1 large tin of tuna for family of 5.
Thxs very much for sharing & inspiring & g'day from across the ditch ❤ 🦘
Hello neighbour, I'm definitely finding a lot of similar cooks from this video. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
@FarmersWifeHomestead by the way did you know you could have used some of your bread as a thickener instead of flour? 😍
Substituting this for that might make an interesting video/ playlist 😇
I totally agree! Thank you, it was a genius moment at the frozen veg isle lol. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for your meal ideas not everyone has an expensive lifestyle keep posting your videos for the everyday person that is trying to provide for their family these recipes are helpful thank you
I agree with you! Having stringent limitations is the best way to spur creativity
Thank you
Enough food for 2 people easily. First time watching. I'm impressed. 👍👍
You look fine. What a difference your prep work made! You were able to use a bit of this and that with no delays. I enjoyed your 50 dollar challenge. Food looks amazing. I hope you enjoy your feast. ~Brenda in America~
Thanks so much!
This videos amazing, I spent 50 bucks at Woolworths this morning in Hamilton, I got body wash, toothpaste, stir-fry sachets x5, a can of lynx, a bottle of milk an a pack of mi goring noodles
Were in the middle of a depression in New Zealand an I guess many parts of the world
It takes a bit more money upfront, but those sachets are poor value for money compared to investing in a few ingredients. Soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, sweet chilli sauce, oyster sauce (as examples - the actual list depends on what flavour you like) and you'll be able to whip up the equivalent amount of sauce so many more times. Actually kiwis in general LOVE sachets of stuff (Maggi anyone?) but they're just a few cents of spices and flour and salt that they then charge you a giant mark up on.
need me a woman in the kitchen aye, I ain't cooking that often, 4 out of 6 of my meals per day are protein shakes an mass gainers lul
Thanks for helping people save money in their food budgets! This inflation has been punishing! Hello from Christchurch
Thanks so much, I hope you guys are on the mend now :-)
Hey hey, just found your channel yesterday, I'm an Aussie and seeing you hold that $50 I knew it wasn't another American channel, I also love making meals up with what I have in cupboards and limited food shopping, I've just started making all types,of easy cheap soups, buying what ever veg is on sale and doing what I can with spices I have at home, but thank you for making me think I should start making my own stock, will save me even more money not buying it. Will now be spam watching you to learn other tricks, I'm 43 but you never to old to learn new things. Thank you again.
Welcome to the channel, I appreciate you watching the videos, and I'm so pleased you are enjoying them.
Never clicked so quickly when i saw the kiwi $50! Not often you see a kiwi on here!
Awesome stuff!
Thank you all the way from UK. Great ideas which I’m going to incorporate. So many in the Uk haven’t a clue how to cook properly. Too many on fast foods, and processed muck. I do hope you get relief soon for your knee.
Thanks so much, I'm glad you have found it useful
It's the same in New Zealand.
This is brilliant and inspiring! Way too many of us spend WAY more than we need to at the supermarket. Thank you!!
Sooo awsome to see someone in New zealand can help other struggling families level up there grocery game your amazing arohamai!! 👏 ❤
Thank you so much! I'm just so pleased to be helping out and giving others some new ideas.
Wow thats was incredible 55 meals for $50.You looked exhausted after cooking that lot so I hope you found some time for a little self pampering 😊👍 you deserve it and I hope your family appreciates you. I certainly do. Thanks Stacey ...love all you do ❤❤❤😊
it was sooooooo hot with all the windows closed hahaha. Thank you for your message.
As a Uni student in auckland this video is absolute gold. Thank you!
She was certainly right and they knew how to make things stretch. Thanks for watching :-)
My first time watching. I subscribed. You are a real magician! No tricks, just your wisdom as a creative cook. Well done. You are doing a great service. Thank you. All the best with your knee. Take care of yourself. 🍽✌🌻
Wow, thank you!
I think farm women know how too cook hearty meals with whatever ingredients they have. I learned this style of cooking from my farmers wife grandma 💕 hi from the Scottish Highlands 😎👍
Yes, also for me it was cooking for a large family with limited ingredients as well. Wow, you are in a stunning part of the world!
@@FarmersWifeHomestead oh my location is postcard perfect in the mountains by a sea loch... Heaven 💕
You are a beautiful woman shearing your passion to help fellow Kiwis, my family live near Thames and like everyone struggling to put food on the table and you give us hope, thank you.
Fantastic. You can tell she knows her away around the kitchen. The kitchen is spotless and practical. She’s just a great home cook!
Oh thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Incredible 😊. So amazing to watch. You def need to go viral. Lots of people would benefit from this video. Well done❤
Thank you so much!!
So many great things about this video and I’m only around 10 mins in. Stacey, you’re doing our beautiful country a service. Thank you for providing local content so relevant to NZ. 🇳🇿❤️
Thank you so much
I saw you featured on stuff news, this is incredible!
That makes me happy that they put this on there. Such a helpful resource for people struggling :)
thank you my dream is to take my message to the community and I've just booked my first workshop.
I would include sugar as a staple just like flour, seasonings and oil. Everything looks great. This is the kind of cooking I do. Thanks.
Yes! Thank you! I do as well but I thought I might get comments saying it was cheating lol. The baked oatmeal definitely could have used some!
Welcome and I'm so pleased to have you hear.
BTW, She knows how much you love her!💞
Someone shared this on reddit, this is such a great video and super helpful! Thank you soooo much for making this! 😊
Awesome! Thank you! Yesterday's Chook one is just the same type of video, so make sure to check that out as well. Thanks for watching
@@FarmersWifeHomestead yay!! Will check it out! Thank youuu 😁💕💕
Can’t believe how many meals this was- BIG portions too!!! Thankyou
Thanks so much! 😊
I was just wrapped to see your channel come on to my feed today love the vid, We need a good regular kiwi cook You actually brought back memories of watching mum cook on the farm back in the day…so a new sub here cheers from Queenstown
Oh wow, I take that as a huge compliment. Where did your family farm? Thanks for subscribing. I love Queenstown!
Just found your channel tonight! I'm so excited to find a kiwi who is passionate about cooking on a budget, so much of what you do is relatable for me as a NZ mum of 5! Loved this video and looking forward to watching more!
Thanks so much, coming from a mum of six. Have a look at today's video I think you will love it too.
Thank you, thank you for showing hopefully a lot of people that home cooking is far more economical than going to KFC/McDonalds, and it is not difficult. This is what our mothers taught us, how to make nutritious, cost-efficient and tasty meals from scratch.

I can’t believe all the meals you made and the price, and all just thought up on the spot 🤯 Thank you so much for making this, I’ll definitely have to go through again to write everything down. So amazing!
With left over rice, you can also add milk and cinnamon/nutmeg for a nice dessert too.
I was thinking that too. The old fashioned baked rice dessert. A real classic.
Absolutely amazing work Stacey. Thank you sooo much 🙏

Wow Stacey I just listened to your RNZ interview. Well done you 😊
Oh thank you!
As someone who noticed the $50 note I think it would be a great option for a recognisable thumbnail 😁 loved the video

Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. For the next one, I will let myself have some more staple pantry items.
A handful of oats also is great in soup and acts as a thickener.. absolutely love your channel. just subbed much love from the uk ❤❤
