  • #245. NEVER Worry About DULL MOLDS Or SCRATCHED Resin AGAIN! THIS IS SO EASY!
In todays Resin Art video we focus on the details! It has happened to all of us, we all have resin molds that have lost their shine or are slightly scratched, or we haven't stored our resin art with care resulting in scratched epoxy resin!
With this stuff, we can fix all of those problems in just a matter of minutes..... obviously longer if it is a larger piece or if it has deeper scratches!
I am amazed at how well this polished the resin to a new level! I have since used this on a few of my other pieces and the longer you spend, the better the results! I have found 5 minutes on an oval shaped piece of resin art is perfect!
I think this is probably the easiest way to polish your epoxy resin and anyone can do this, even a beginner!

I just discovered that Stardrops, the maker of Pink Stuff makes an entire line of household cleaning products. The US link provided includes a pair of rubber gloves that may or may not fit with a 17.6 oz. bottle of the Pink Stuff Cream for $10.99 USD. There is a 16.9 oz bottle without the gloves for $6.27 USD or a 17.3 oz. tub of Pink Stuff Paste for $4.99 USD.
I wonder if a make-up sponge would work as an applicator. A chamois cloth would most likely work very well. The instructions on the Pink Stuff says to apply with light pressure.
There are a lot of wood turners that use epoxy resin in combination with wood, and one of the most popular polishes for these folks is Flitz Metal Polish. This stuff is a long way from cheap, but a little goes a long way. The least amount I have found is a 3.4 oz. tube for $7.64 USD.
All prices quoted here are from Amazon US. Hopefully this will be of use to someone out there.

  • @shibibi1

Definitely works better if you're using microfiber or a cotton polishing cloth. I keep all my old ratty denim for hand polishing all kinds of plastics and some softer minerals.
Of course a dremel with a polishing attachment will work even faster! But if you can't afford a dremel, hand polishing using something like this or a car polishing compound, will absolutely work. There's lots of polishing compounds out in the world designed for a variety of surfaces. If you're into resin, polymer clay, wire work jewelry or gemstones, it's well worth exploring the options out there.
Some polishes also leave behind a protective coat to prevent tarnishing.

The ABSOLUTE dream team is the liquid form of Bar Keepers Friend paired with a glass safe sponge attachment for a hand drill. Holy Mackrel. Talk about a GAME changer! I literally let my shower door sit for exactly a year to test all the different products out. I've always and highly recommend and have done many times to use. T-CUT for car paint work. it's not expensive and very little on a damp microfibre cloth last for many pieces. again it's a manual thing. but I've recommended it for river tables and I've nothing but positive feedback. yes lots of elbow grease (I use margarine 😂🤣😂🤣💪😂🤣😂🤣😉) but results are shiny as can be like a new mold should be (hate these scammers making bad molds by flood coating a new mold the use silicone to make a clone that hasn't got the perfect shine) but T-CUT is for me the best. plus when you've used the same microfibre cloth a few times you only need to wet it slightly. I keep mine in a resealable bag.... 😉💪👌👍 great idea though definitely works. also can be used with a sanding disc wool pad you just need to wet it with water with a few drops of washing up liquid as wool naturally is waterproof due to lanolin 😉. just a drop or two is enough and microfibre cloths are best as can be kept for purpose and the next piece 😊😊

I'll need to buy this or Cif as soon as I see it somewhere. My molds are shiny still, bit having this around would be handy. I have a tube of a sickeningly expensive resin and plastic polishing compound, but it was so pricey I rarely use it.
A fair warning about using this on metal, though:
It's not usually adviced to use rubbing compounds on metal, at least not regularly, because they will eventually wear off the shine. I would not use it on silver or gold plated metal, because the plating is super thin, and will wear off eventually. You can get away with using something like this a few times, but not on the regular. Also, if you have stones set on your jewellery, some semiprecious stones are really soft and will lose their polish (and may react badly with the cleaning agents).

You can use white toothpaste, a little bit of water and an old soft toothbrush to polish your tarnished silver and other jewelry pieces. Don’t use toothpaste that has any whitening particles - use only the plain white.

I use wirework and soft solder elements in my jewelry, and was recently introduced to a product alot of jewelers use to polish their pieces called Fabulustre. It works magic on metal so might help you with some of those issues, but I wonder if it would work on resin too? You might want to give it a try. Love your videos and your fun experments.😊👍💖

Nice! I actually tend to just use cheap toothpaste and a soft toothbrush to clean my silver jewelry, or a chemical cleaner that you dip it in for a few seconds but now I have a third option. A microfiber polishing cloth (like the kind you use for cleaning eyeglasses) would be the best way to use it but I admit I'd probably just go for the polishing pad and rotary tool. 😅 Either way, it's nice to know it works. I have a tub of it under my kitchen sink. I love the stuff as I’ve used it for so many things. Like I accidentally got some resin ink on the wall of my home and I used a tiny bit on a paper towel and scrubbed gently, and all the ink was gone! I paid $5 for the tub and I’ve had it forEVER and have barely made a dent in it. They also make other cleaning products and I love it cause it’s cheap and lasts for awhile plus it’s cheap in the US. I usually pick it up at Walmart!! I’ll definitely use this on my resin. But it does say on the container to do a spot test before doing a wider use on anything.
