    I don't know who ever ''groused'' over the lack of ''sex'' in Nolan's movies. It's the same as when before Tenet there were grousing over Nolan only casting white lead actors. Twitter isn't real life, and people with those non-criticisms need to realize that films and its directors aren't supposed to fit into the criteria of some dumb edgy HBO show they like.

      Cannot agree more. If anything, it's a welcome relief to go from the hyper sexualised, OnlyFans infested social media platforms to pure cinema rooted in artistic vision that won't pander to the current generation's bizarro fetishes, demands and agenda.

    • @jesustovar2549
      @jesustovar2549 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Leave sex where it belongs, we're here to experience a historical drama about science and a real important man, themes that are more important (not that sex dosen't deserve attention, but that's other thing), they want sex? go and do it yourself instead of expecting that in every movie, most sex scenes dosen't add anything into movies or tv shows. I'm glad Nolan movies don't include sex, The Dark Knight Trilogy didn't need it, and I think this is a reason of why even kids would enjoy that trilogy despite being more adult oriented in tone.

    • @mattlawson714
      @mattlawson714 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Dammit, one of my favorite things about Christopher Nolan movies is the lack of sex! Movies need less sex, not more. I mean, you know what you were signing up for if you go see Fifty Shades of Grey or something, but this is a movie about the man who created the atomic bomb.

    This will be like the way I react to most Nolan films. The trailer I'm like "ok, it doesn't look that interesting to me, but I'll go see it because I love Nolan movies". Then I walk out thinking its the best thing I've ever seen. That's why I usually don't pay much attention to his trailers when they come out. I'm never dying to see the trailers because they always underwhelm me and don't create any sense of excitement for the movie..but I eventually see the trailer incidentally, not intentionally. But I know it will be good when I go to the theater.

    Я очень надеюсь, что для Нолана это станет тем, чем был "Список Шиндлера" для Спилберга. То есть лучшей работой в карьере, как в оценке критиков, так и зрителей и в кассовом плане, ну может и наконец в Оскаровском. И мне немного страшно, что фильм может меня всё же разочаровать, хотя и надеюсь, что этого не произойдëо и после выхода с сеанса мои сомнения улетучатся. Ну и я поставлю 10 из 10 на IMDB . End of the world, it's a phrase that gets tossed around in fiction and hyperbolic news stories. And we've lived with the abstract notion of nuclear weapons for so long that their almost a myth. And I hope that this movie gets across the sense of soul shredding guilt that Oppenheimer felt not just in the bombings but in the arms race that followed where humanity built enough weapons to ensure that their use would end the world. And i hope that the audience also leaves with a healthy dose of fear over what these weapons will do if we use them again, because unlike the 1940s the world's supply of bombs isn't 3, it's over ten thousand

    People should see More than just this One movie. "The Beginning or the End" 1947 B&W mostly fictional after the 1st Chicago fission experiments and then the actual Hiroshima mission. After all this was just 2yrs after the fact and everything was still Top Secret. "Above & Beyond" 1952 B&W mainly focuses on Col. Paul Tibbets who had to get his group set up with B29's and train for flying both the Hiroshima & Nagasaki missions. "Fat Man & Little Boy" 1989 starring Paul Newman, Dwight Schultz and John Cusack also focuses on Gen. Groves and Oppenheimer at Los Alamos & the Trinity test, It also portrays the deadly Demon Core accident which did happen there shortly after the Hiroshima & Nagasaki missions.

    The Oppenheimer story (not the movie) is I think of a set of circumstances with unforeseeable consequences. The moral tension that he must have experienced was no doubt very stressful before they succeeded but it must have gone to unfathomable levels after. Who could bear such a burden? What would that do to a person? Actions and statements under such a cloud could have been indecipherable to others. Being filled with regret is not the same as being a traitor by a long ways but it could be viewed as such.

    In my humble opinion humanity is so lucky that the INEVITABLE building of the A bomb was done by the USA and used against Japan...and ONLY Japan. So we defeated an enemy that was ready...even eager to have a FAR higher body count among their OWN CITIZENS in defense of their Island. We got the A bomb first...not Germany...not the USSR...not China. The incredible luck of how WW2 ended is almost a miracle. Monday-morning quarterbacks argue against what I am saying. But it's true. So many things could have happened that would have lengthened the war and added several million to the body count. And everyone saw exactly how bad it is to be the target of a nuclear weapon. It's a lesson that nobody can forget even if they wanted to.

    Ok but I don't understand what has sex got to do with this film. Do people even complain about lack of nudity in nolan films. If you want to watch sex there's porn, directors should not be pressurized to include nudity just for the sake of it.

    The media often overhyped and overpraise underserving films like John Wick 4 which is a very poor movie, or top gun 2 which is literally American wet dream. Nolan's Dunkrik is another good but nothing amazing movie which got praised because it has the Nolan name attached to it.
    However, Oppenheimer has earned its well deserved positive. It is one of the movies that will endure in time.

    My favorite little detail was the modern American flags at the post-bombing pep rally. This brings home the fact that many of the messages of the film are as relevant today as they were in 1945;

    yeah it was good...just good though..it definitely wasn't a masterpiece. There was some ridiculously cheesy dialogue throughout...Matt Damon was a caricature of a military general, some of the relationships were not really explored so my emotional connection to what was happening within them was completely absent. The soundtrack was so heavy handed and felt so overdone it became really annoying. That said Emily, Cillian and Robert gave some fantastic performances. for me Emily was the stand out. The number of cameos by big stars actually took away from the movie for me..too many times i was thinking "oh wow, there's that guy from that TV show or this movie". It kinda felt like a game of guess who. Maybe i expected too much from Nolan, i was very excited about this movie. Maybe his style is more suited to fantasy rather than biopic

    Who is going to care about a part of history that nobody knows about or cares about except for one remaining generation. It was basically like putting on a high school play of The Diary of Anne with a script with moderate acting. Of course well made with great cinematography and creating the Los Alamos environment - the worst, unrealistic part was Matt Damon's portrayal of Groves - nowhere close to the real character and very detracting from the movie.. Why he was chosen for the part is a mystery - Groves rarely wore his Class A uniform, stayed in khakis to keep a low profile, road trains so he could think and not crash before the project was finished - if anything Matt should have put on 50 pounds but didn't have the guys to do it. The movie also loses the tension of the four years the project was in development - it's a stretch to give it two stars. Opennheimer's character is like a wax museum figure dressed up in period costumes, with his eyes glazed over not knowing anything about what he's doing much less knows anything about physics, He needs to go back and be in the Irish mob.Hollywood is doing nothing but shoving crap down our throats.

    I planned to see this on opening day at the nearest IMAX theater(half an hour away) but due to a changeup Ill have to wait. My 60" Samsung and soundbar with Sennnheiser headphones will have to suffice in the meantime and they suffice very excellently. This will be online by this weekend. Cam for sure but the past few Ive watched have been A- quality and Im fine with that. And 3 hours at home is alot smoother than 3 hours in a theater. Cheaper too. Ill still see it in IMAX later next week. Very excited. But all this talk about how its going to bring people back to theaters again, etc. etc., I got news for you: a lot of people like myself would love to return to theaters but the experience has become untenable due to cellphone jerks, loud rude people, and insane prices. I went to theaters at least once a week for over 40 years but stopped about 10 years ago.

    One of the things I most like about Nolans films is the lack of sex. I'm not a peeping Tom, nor done sick voyeur, so if the comments that there is heavy sex in this film are true I'm already regretting having to give it a thumbs down.

    • @Jack-iu7pw
      @Jack-iu7pw ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there isn't heavy sex. There is a singular sex scene that lasts about 3 to 4 seconds and that's it. There's another scene where two people are sat naked but you never see anything bare below the waist.

    It scares me when critics like something I want to see. I really want to watch this but now will wait until a couple weeks after opening to find out the true verdict from people that have seen it. Critics are too liberal these days and if they like it I usually hate it so will wait and see. I usually love what the critics hate. Yes Oppenheimer after the invention wanted to put the genie back in the bottle and am afraid they will twist that to a liberal perspective ignoring the fact of the lives these bombs have saved and war they have prevented. People ignore the fact the Germans was working on it as well so it was race to complete and glad he got it because lord knows how things would be today if Germany beat us in that race. It would have been invented either way like it or not

      Before investing in seeing the movie, you might want to read some about the irl Oppenheimer, say on wikipedia.

      It's going to be more than good, maybe his best movie yet, or at least his most mature and ambitious project, I love ambition in good directors, they had the need to surprass themselves.
