RDJ is like an extrovert that tries to keep quiet in front of 4 other introverts.
Huh
refreshing lol
I don’t think Emily Blunt is an introvert
Emily Blunt is HARDLY an introvert. She has an irritating habit of interrupting and interjecting when another actor is speaking, along with her, to an interviewer. Still, a pleasant personality and formidable acting chops.
literally😂
No matter how many times I’ve seen interstellar, Matt Damon’s appearance is always surprising
“You know how they say there’s no small roles only small actors? Well, this one’s a small role” 😅
Yeah, he escaped from Mars only to end up there.
Ifkr
I always wish he wouldn't have done what he had done😢
@@matusobernauer2387and what’s that?
Don't think I've ever been more excited to see a movie in my life. For Matt Damon to say Cillian Murphy's performance is one of the greatest of all time to be put on film is some serious, serious praise.
Really? Can you explain to me why? I know he's an excellent writer, but I don't know a lot, I'm quite interested.
@@DiAnA9189 fantastic actor and writer, real recognises real type deal. it probably wont be one of the greatest of all time but for praise like that, itll be pretty damn good
I would have to probably agree, except maybe Jurassic Park way back in the 90s. It's def the most excited Ive been in recent memory. Two years ago when this was announced, I was like YES. I love high quality WWII films and this is one I've always wanted...Fat Man and Little Boy was not that good. I'm fascinated by atomic energy so a dense, science-y movie about it is gold to me.
RDJ said essentially the same thing in his armchair expert interview. Sure to be excellent.
Me too! Partly because I lived in Los Alamos for 13 years and honestly, feel I have a bit of trauma from it. But New Mexico and the history is just so important and impactful to our country. History is important. We need to know and learn. There's never been a more important figure in human history than Oppenheimer, IMHO.
Cillian Murphy just has that screen presence where u just want to watch him no matter the quality around him. And for him to have these fabulous collaborations with Nolan over the years has made it so special to watch. Really hope Cillian and Nolan win their well deserved Oscar for this
I've always found Cillian unique. .
@@lifeissweet9826 mee too
@@Kigoz4Life reviews are already calling it the film of the decade that is mostly held up by Cillian’s performance
Honestly who cares about the Oscars. Kubrick and Hitchcock never won the Oscar for Best Director so they're irrelevant.
I agree re: Cillian's screen presence. I've really liked him ever since I first saw "Red Eye." He was riveting in that role.
I’m happy for RDJ to be able to find a project that elevates him to a level that allows him to be distinguished apart from the MCU’s “Iron Man”. It’s hard to do that when you’re known so well for a specific role. He fucking killed it. So did Cillian and Matt. Florence and Emily were flawless. But really the star of this was Nolan. Masterpiece.
I’ve started to watch him from iron man, but I loved all his other movies. Kiss kiss bang bang, judge, sherlock Holmes and whatnot! He’s a talent being wasted in mcu and I’m really glad that Tony stark died in mcu before Disney took over and turned it m-she-u.
He was amazing as Kirk Lazarus as well.

Completely agreed, it is similar to dune movie
What? This has been the case for the entire history of cinema.

Yes it happens to Tarantino and Sorkin too
Casey Afleck’s role was really intimidating. He did such a great job at creating intense tension.
I was on the edge of my seat
I fell asleep around the time he came on 😂 and woke up on his last scene in the film.

A legendary director and a legendary cast making a legendary film, can't wait!!
long before cillian, blunt, matt, and even nolan became famous, RDJ was already an oscar nominee for Chaplin going back to 92,,,alongside alpacino.. damn
Interestedly to note, Downey did live in New Mexico for a time. I think he understands the culture. A friend of mine ran in to him at a movie theater in NM. I ran into so many actors in NM. Don't live there anymore, but go NM! The center of the next phase of entertainment.

RDJ is such a sweet heart, his open admiration, genuine comments make me love him more than ever for the person he is and obviously an unforgettable actor.
Such a generous performer and person.
I saw Oppenheimer yesterday and I can say it's an instant classic. If you are a cinema lover you will look back at this movie as a big vital experience.
The amount of respect, admiration, gratitude that's filling the room is almost palpable, feels so great just to watch it.
I love how all the cast are so supportive of each other 🥹
Why wouldn't they be, they're selling their product.
If Cillian doesn't win an Oscar for this film I seriously don't know what to say.
say it like it is...Indiana Jones 5 deserves the best movie of 2023
Identity politics are why he wouldn’t win. This film likely doesn’t qualify for any Oscar due to their new BS identity politics requisites in order to be nominated.
When did you see the movie?
I mean, Cillian doesn’t need an Oscar to prove his acting ability, but in this bs woke Hollywood world, his win will be soo much better!
Okay yeah he's great but let's see the movie first maybe? Just because you like him doesn't mean he deserves an Oscar. You're being ridiculous.
Cillian seriously must have put himself through the emotional and physical ringer on this one……just when you think he can’t get any better from Peaky….he does this. Such a modest, private and humble guy. But he’s a genius…….❤
Damon, a notoriously strong writer, having no notes. means more than you may realize
The opposite of his buddy Ben Affleck after reading Pearl Harbor's script, it was so bad he asked if he could rewrite it
underrated comment
since he won a Oscar for the screenplay of Good Will Hunting, he actually has some chops.
After seeing the movie I honestly have to say Cillian Murphy is going to win the Oscar 100%
The entire cast is so well spoken, I finished the entire session at one go. Cillian is my absolute favourite. I hope he wins an Oscar.
My goodness!!! I have never seen RDJ so humble. He's literally behaving like a new comer who's grateful to be a part of this movie and fangirling over Cillian....
I love how when someone speaks, the other 4 immediately put all their attention on the speaker: eye contact, tilting their body towards them, nodding their head, keeping quiet, etc. Also, you can tell that all 5 of them genuinely think this is an amazing movie in the way they all talk about it. Plus, Chris' and Cill's humility about the amazing work they did is a breath of fresh air
This is probably one of the best interviews in this format that I've seen. You can really tell these people have a lot of love and respect for each other. The film looks stellar, I really hope it lives up to the hype that it's getting. At this point I have no doubts that Nolan can deliver an exceptional movie, the dude is a legend and I'm rooting for this movie to be one of the greatest films of the year, or even of all time! it really does look like it could be THAT good. but i'll admit I am a victim to the opp hype cycle...

fr, I am so happy to see him so other movies and just go all out with his talent in every way... He looks so happy about choosing what he wants and gets to do, and try things out again instead of only following a contract for 15 years
He knows where super hero movies are going. He's glad that's he's getting an open door out of that.
Playing Iron Man gave him the income to pick and choose only what he's passionate about! I'm so happy to see him playing other characters. But I'd like to see him in another romantic movie.

@@thorkagemob1297as a person who’s not really a fan of the mcu I will agree IW was really enjoyable
Cillian deserves an Oscar for his performance!!! Absolutely amazing everyone! Favorite movie of year so far!
I think one of the reasons Barbenheimer has been such an event is because both films, their stories, the characters, but especially the filmmakers and talent behind both of them are so sincere, engaging, and insightful that it's been like a giant chicken soup for our society's soul. And these films both go into what it's like to feel stuck in the middle of moral conundrums in a very two-sided culture. Just wonderful to experience.
Well said, you mind-reader!
Didn't expect Josh Hartnett's appearance in the movie, but for some reason it was one of my favorite. Seemed like a weird role for a few initial moments, but the neutral "cowboy/scientist/pal" thing came across really well. His character brought a lot of levity to the movie.
I didn't expect Gary Oldman either and it took me embarrassingly long to recognize them 🙈
The whole time I kept thinking while watching Josh Hartnett “wow he would make a good Batman”
Well it wont be for us….. thanks lol
its Harnett's FU Hollywood time away that makes his appearance and performance so rich for me. Oscar nom worthy IMO
I agree, had no idea he was in the movie but he killed that role.
I just saw the movie today, what a damn masterpiece, Cillian Murphy’s performance is beyond extraordinary, what an actor !!!
RDJ looks and feels so humble here, I think being able to work with Chris Nolan is just a blessing

I'm not even in the film industry, but those interviews make me wanna work with Chris Nolan. He just seems superb.
RDJ just making everybody laugh in this room is amazing 😂 espcially Matt Damon
Love how seemingly every time RDJ enters the conversation, it’s to praise someone else (present or not) for how they’ve contributed. He did a phenomenal job as Strauss and is secure enough to shine the light on others, even future generations of actors.
He has come out the other side and has become the most charming person. Love listening to him.
I just can’t imagine how surreal, mature, satisfying it must be to be sitting in a room with A list actors that respect you as much as you respect them, singing praises to each other for the job you all did on a tremendous film. It must be an amazing and incomparable feeling.
I can't remember a movie where a movie had this many mega stars functioning as supporting actors to a lesser star, but nonetheless a superb actor in Murphy.
I think it only works because of this. Cillian really embodied Oppenheimer and while the other characters are underdeveloped the fact that we recognize most of them helped mentally fill the gaps for the audience. It’s almost like cheating through character dev in a way
similar to tarantino films
Seeing this on Thursday night in 70mm IMAX…cannot wait! Also, Cillian DESERVES this Oscar! He is such a talented actor and his portrayal of Tommy Shelby is one of the greatest of all time. No doubt he’s going to captivate us as Oppenheimer!

Robert Downey Jr is very kind and succinct, calling things by their name, starting at the 12:15 mark! They are all excellent actors, but I'm suspecting we'll be blown away by Murphy's performance.
What makes Nolan unique is how brilliant he is as an artistic mind but also down to earth as a professional, he's not hiding behind amazing script ideas and actor's talent, but actually is into the technical aspects. That's the thing about him, and its very rare, and so far he is on top of that in the industry right now. Probably Denis Villeneuve is somewhat getting to this as well with Dune, but with Nolan its in every movie he created.
James Cameroon is another one
Yea I agree. This is how directors use to be and directors like Denis and Chris are keeping the art alive. Im enjoying it while it lasts
I've never been disappointed, or didn't enjoy a movie I've seen of Nolan's. Great film maker.
@@NemysisPrimecameroon movies are overrated.
@@NemysisPrime Always saw him as a professional, a craftsmen, almost like a decent professional that can do the job for sure, but never outstand, I can be dead wrong, but that is the impression. So odd to see the biggest actors in the world so timid and humble in front of Chris Nolan. The guy is on a whole other level.
I think one of the incredible things about Nolan is that he has such an eye for what an actor is capable of before they've even played a part which is a trait all directors have to have but he seems to really excel at it. His catalogue of movies has some of the greatest actors of our time in every single movie and not only that but he has a away of bringing out their best performances of their career in each of his movies.
Only Nolan can bring an incredible cast like this together. Absolutely brilliant. Can’t wait to watch this masterpiece!

ive never been this excited for a movie. stellar cast, extremely interesting story and directed by the greatest director.
Can not wait to see Oppenheimer!
I think at any point in time when the absolute top crop actors come to a set and feel humbled and excited and acknowledge that "this is the place to be", you know you are working with something that is truly spectacular.
You get the sense that they would all want to be present even if they were not getting paid, because at this moment it's simply their pure passion for acting and cinematography that is speaking to them and driving their performance.
This is why Nolan is one of my top most respected producers in all of cinema, because every time he turns on that camera, you just know he's doing it to bring an artistic vision to life and nothing else. Denis Villeneuve is another one of the modern greats who also appears like a no-compromise kind of guy who is just out there to do his thing and be visionary, all norms be damned.
I think the purpose of the black&red script (2:28) may have been to prevent, or at least to inhibit, photocopying.
A great friendship developed through this movie. The actors are so content, excited and euphoric with the job they were given is unparalleled to anything I seen before. Nolan brought out the best acting from all of them.
11:43 This was my experience. Spent days after reading more about the various figures involved, thinking about the film, and talking about it with anyone that would listen. Cillian Murphy absolutely brilliant in this movie and deserves every acolade coming his way.
Such a trip. Seems like they are at such a peak of acting, that they are able to transport themselves outside of themselves and really inject themselves into Nolans direction and idea of the actual people they are trying to portrray. I read the Sherwin and Bird bio that inspired this film in a class called United States in the Nuclear Age, and our entire class (which was a seminar, only 8 students), came to feel so strongly about Oppie and his story. We got really emotionally involved for some reason, each of us having a different reading of his life leading up to Los Alamos and the fallout and how he felt, it was the most incredible experience I had in a classroom. It’s kind of breaking our hearts that those 8 students are spread across the country now, because we all wish we could go see this film together. Even people who thought it was too long or not enough action or too confusing etc. This gives us a huge insight to what those who created the atomic bomb and their life was like. I never stopped to think "How was the atomic bomb made?" And this movie put so much in perspective for me. Reminded me that in that time they were people in the middle of a war and how terrifying and tragic it was....and will be again. Because mankind is greedy and stupid and violent. We will go at war again someday somehow, maybe a long time from now or not, but there will be bombs. And like one of the scientists said to Oppenheimer: "Until they make a bigger bomb". Can you imagine creating a bomb that is powerful enough to destroy the world and still hit the red button? Sorry for getting all tragic. It was a moving film but I came out of the theatres feeling like I had been slapped and I still, and probably won't ever, recover.
Nolan always blows our mind. His work made us know more about science. And myself espesially, when i watched interstellar, i only knew basic stuff that school has tought, but after i watched it, it impacted to me so much as i only knew so little and it make me want to learn more about our universe. Since his movie based on real science, i felt like it can entice people to increase knowledge or even inspired people to pursue career in science.
Cillian is so perfect it is scarcely possible to look at others, he is too magnetizing
When your lead actor says he was overwhelmed and emotionally drained by the film you know you done good
