  • 1822 Camino Palmero St. Hollywood California was the former home and outside filming location of "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" Tv show 1952...
'Law and Order: SVU' Star Buys 'Haunted' Home
Actor Christopher Meloni, of "Law and Order: SVU" paid $5.25 million for a five-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom Los Angeles home, which is reportedly haunted...
The home served as the television home of the titular couple on "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" from 1952 to 1966...
It was also the home of movie agent Ari Gold in HBO's “Entourage.”
It was sold and remodeled and the pictures show when "The Nelsons" lived there in the 1940's on and what it looks like today...
I placed the old picture first...then the remodeled room after showing you the difference...today it is worth $5.33 million...
This is a house I passed thousands of times because a friend lived across the street and it is 5 minutes from Hollywood Blvd and Vine...
The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet was an American sitcom, airing on ABC from October 3, 1952, through March 26, 1966, starring the real-life Nelson family...
After a long run on radio, the show was brought to television, where it continued its success, initially running simultaneously on radio and television. The series stars Ozzie Nelson and his wife, singer Harriet Nelson (née Snyder, professionally Hilliard), and their young sons, David and Eric "Ricky" Nelson. Don DeFore had a recurring role as the Nelsons' friendly neighbor "Thorny"...
Ricky went on to be a popular singer until he was killed in a plane crash along with his band traveling to a concert which he was the star singer and guitar player...

I think I was about 12 years old and for some reason I was spending the day at my Dads shop when David Nelson walked into the shop. My Dad owned "Fredericks Furniture Refinishing" at 9000 W Pico Blvd in Beverley Hills. I remember David asking about having some of his Parents furniture refinished. David was a true gentleman, he shook my hand and said hello. I remember his piercing blue eyes and grin when he shook my hand....Looking back, what a cool guy, .."The real deal"

They should have left the house alone & have tours of his house as part of history; like They did with Graceland.

      B. Stead my husband surprised me with a trip to Hollywood because I’m a classic film and television nut, and that town does not care for its history, frank Sinatra, Judy garland and James Stewarts and countless others homes are just torn down so some idiot can build on that spot! Lucy and Desi’s exterior was changed on their home. It’s so sad.

@@kaseyblack6763 Hi Kasey, I'm here and they tear down everything...Lucy's home was demolished because it was haunted and rebuilt...I was there in 1964 taking pictures and now it's an enormous mansion as all the rest of the homes...so many changes here with movies and tv as I have been in the biz decades working with those classic stars...

Interesting but like the way the Nelsons had it far better! They had a very cozy looking home that was beautifully decorated and perfect for their family! Today it's just a vast looking, cold, impersonal "DESIGNER SHOWCASE" more than having a real home feeling! Designers did the exact same thing with the late great Katharine Hepburn's family home in CT...went in there, gutted it out, painted it all white inside and destroyed the natural charm and warmth of the place! Just my honest opinion, sometimes, it's best to leave well enough alone! Were they to all come back and see their former homes, they would probably all say, WTF??

I agree too-- now it looks like a clone of every other designer house of this era, too bad, it was an iconic house and they should have left it that way, after all it meant so much to the Nelson's that they had it replicated for the show.

Gorgeous! Love the huge bedrooms. We used to live 8 minutes from there (on the Burbank side of the mountain). Just think, I could have driven over and borrowed a cup of sugar from Harriet if I'd only known. ROFL.

I know just about everyone has gone crazy over the grey and white, but not me. I still love the beautiful wood work. I would have never painted over all that beautiful wood in the living room and I liked the 2nd upgrade in the kitchen better than the 3rd one. I understand you have to upgrade appliances and the bathrooms, but I would have left the rest of the house alone. I did however like the laundry room. I liked the small shower. You could give the dogs a bath in there or it could be used to rinse out mops or poor out mop buckets after you get through cleaning the house. 👍 I'm so sick of the grey and white though. It's too boring for me, but to each their own. 😉

In regards to The Nelson Family.I feel that they should of left their house just how it was!! Why change things? Why re-model this home of theirs?? It was a part of History, It was their History..their life .....their home!!!!!! Leave things as it was! If it was good enough for The Nelsons then why wouldn't it be good enough for someone else?? It was even good enough for The American Public for The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriett! I would of LOVED to LIVE in their HOME AS IT WAS!!! It would of BEEN an HONOR!!!!! To be apart of what was theirs..just they way it was!!!!!! Once you change something you CHANGE it forever & all that was TODAY IS LOST!! SO TO me.THIS IS NOT THEIR HOME.ANYMORE!!!!!!!!! DO YOU SEE THE PICTURE!!!!!!! THEY ARE NOW LOST IN HISTORY!!!!!!! ITS SO SAD THAT PEOPLE CAN'T LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE!!!!!!!!!!
i WONDER IF THEY WERE ALIVE..WHAT THEY WOULD THINK OR EVEN SAY i DON'T THINK IT WOULD BE GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S MY THOUGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+Allan Schofield I agree as I am a Hollywood Historian and in 1964 I took that Hollywood bus tour to see stars homes like in I Love Lucy with Lucy and Ethel...they stopped in front of her home and I took so many pictures...when she passed away and her Beverly Hills mansion was sold they leveled it saying they saw her ghost every day walking around and I would have loved that and welcomed her to sit down for dinner and put on Desi's cd I have and danced the conga with her...every stars home I knew back then has be leveled or changed and its disgusting...they do the same with restaurants the stars hung out like the Brown Derby, they take out old red leather booths for industrial looks and rock hard chairs....I'm old school, I like the old fashioned looks and decor...haha

Anyone who can afford this house most likely has very definite opinions about how they want things done. It’s their right. It’s also usually a fact when people have that much money they don’t give a shit about history. Yes it would’ve been awesome to leave the house as it was, but who wants to live in a 1970s style home? I would! But not most people.

TOTALLY AGREE 100 PERCENT! See my comment as well, very similar sentiments! BIG isn't always better neither is "New and Improved" by people just trying to stroke their own egos! Like look what we did to Ozzie and Harriet's former home! Would have been better to RESTORE it than Renovate it, there's a difference! Could have kept it as an historical museum of American television history and charged a small admission fee for the upkeep of the place and to donate to charity instead! Just sayin' smdh

Get a life. It’s a house, not a museum. The owners can do whatever they like. They are under no obligation to keep it the way it was.

Unless a building and its accompanying real estate are declared, by virtue of their age, to be a National Historic Landmark, then the owners of a property have a right to sell to who they wish and the new owners to remodel and renovate however they wish.
But I do agree with you the condition in which Ozzie and Harriet Nelson had maintained 1822 Camino Palmero was more appropriate in which to have raised a family, and appeared more cozy and comfortable than the house post-renovation.
I think the same of the house (at 1000 North Roxbury Drive in Beverly Hills) which formerly belonged to Lucille Ball and Gary Morton (and before that to Lucy and Desi Arnaz) form 1955-1989, that before renovation it appeared more like an oversized suburban home. But now the house appears like a Hollywood mansion, more mausoleum than cozy family home. On the positive side, the house next-door to Lucy's old house, at 1002 N. Roxbury Dr., which belonged to Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone for almost 30 years, still appears the same on the outside.
Oh would it have been fun to go trick-or-treating on that street in the late 1950s through mid-1960s! Can you imagine ringing the doorbells of these homes and to have been greeted by Lucy, Jack Benny, Jimmy Stewart and/or Agnes Moorehead? Perhaps the maids answered the doors most of the time. But I have read on All Hallow's Eve Lucy and Jack Benny were known to have been playful and handed out large candy bars themselves As teh saying goes, "Th bigger they are, the nicer they are!" At one time, anyway, that was probably true..

Oh my...I still remember sitting around a table with relatives playing cards and celebrating New Year's Eve in 1985 and we had the New Year's Rocking Eve on the TV in the background and news broke in and gave the news that he crashed in DeKalb, TX. Very close to where I lived the first 19 years of my life! I loved him, mostly his smile...lol. For my school lunches, I had a purple metal lunchbox with him on it... Bet it's worth a bit these days, but I don't have it....siiigh. I love the renovations of the front in the 2nd pic. They took out the ugly steps and sidewalk! I don't like the black/white tile at all..but I love that floor in the dining room, so pretty!!! Boy that kitchen sure did change! Wow! LOVE 4:43....love, love!!!! (except for the light...blek) 5:21, beautiful! Loved your transitions and music! Wonderful story on his and your cars too! I've not seen one single episode of this show...to my knowledge. I've never seen reruns on, do they run them?? I did see Leave It To Beaver though...lol.

I lived 4 blocks from this home on N. Sycamore Ave & Franklin Ave. It was my first apartment and it only $200.00 a month!!! I very much enjoyed my time living in Hollywood. Hollywood is FILLED with history. I lived in the same building as Bobby (I Fought The Law) Fuller lived in during his Hollywood days, AND Janis Joplin was found dead in the apartments just across the street from the building (at the Landmark Hotel).
