What a lovely man David is. I am blown away by the kind kind adoring words for Ricky. Boy Ozzie and Harriet should have received an award for Best parents. These two children are testament to being brought up with such lovely values and respect for one another. 😘

David sounds like he was just as nice and good a person as his younger brother. I have to believe that them being the way they were was a very good reflection of who their parents were and how they raised their sons. 🙂👍
I loved the Ozzie and Harriet show as a kid. Good feelings always from that show and time of my life as a little kid. David and Rick Nelson were are great people wish we had more men like them around. They are both gone now but to know them and the entire family was to LOVE them. Sweet sweet times gone by. 💕
David was just as handsome as Rick. He had a kind of quiet charm about him. He was my favorite. Nice to know he did not envy his brother but was happy for him.
Wow, I totally love that! Mr. and Mrs. Nelson sure raised two respectful and kindhearted gentleman. What a treasure this is! So sad that we lost David also, must be about 10, 11 years ago. Thank you to the person who posted this awesome interview, it's really is wonderful!!! 🌼
Yes, I say thanks well. I haven't heard anything about David Nelson over the years. This interview filled us in a little more about the Nelson family. Ozzie and Harriet must had a good relationship with each other in order to work every day together, plus with their kids. Apparently, they all had mutual respect for each other and that greatly contributed to the success of their show.
I so enjoyed this video. I've often wondered how David felt about Rick's rise to fame. This shows family at it's best. Celebrating the good things that happen in families and the sorrows. I grew up as a young girl watching Ozzie and Harriet and having my first crush on Ricky ! Lol ! Telling my age, but those were the good old days. I remember being in tears, crying my eyes out when we heard the news of the plane crash ,Ricky's death and everyone with him. Meet you in Paradise one day !!
I absolutely loved hearing this wonderful interview with David Nelson about his brother and also their life together. Sadly they are both gone now. I remember well their television series and always enjoyed seeing it. David and Ricky both have always seemed like the nicest guys. They are both remembered with much affection. Thanks for sharing this.
Met Rick at a party in Aspen, CO around 1975. I was a musician as well at that time. We met in a buffet line, sat down across from each other and had a long, wonderful conversation about both of our lives and families. One of the nicest people Ive ever met in my life. Everyone else was drinking some form of booze. Rick was drinking coffee. A true professional. A wonderful experience and I’ll never forget it.
I see so many wonderful stories like this. It sounds like he could and would talk to anyone about anything and make even strangers feel like they were old friends.
David’s love for his younger brother was obvious after his death when he was out front defending his memory when the haters choose to try to bring his reputation down. His Stone Canyon Band doesn’t get enough credit as a pioneer in the LA sound that was the foundation of modern country.
Well done interview. David and Rick must have had a very good relationship for David not to have felt overshadowed and somewhat jealous of Rick's greater success.
Enjoyed this interview very much. Dave Nelson was a stand-up gentleman and family man himself. I always admired their entire family on their TV show and it helped me develop a '"moral compass" as to how people should treat others, esp. the opposite sex. Unfortunately, things started going sideways when the late sixties hit, and the music and culture changed for the worse. We will really have to work at it to return to the attitudes of the golden era of American family life. Loved the later years show with June ( a real beauty) also, although some fans thought she was overly at times. I think she is still living last time I checked.
David , a polite man who was grateful for his life. He loved his brother and it was obvious they were different in that Rick loved performing and was a natural. I’m sure thru Rick’s personal challenges that he was fortunate to have an older brother like David to share things with.

I’ve seen Rick in many photos with his children & 2 videos & it’s clear that he had such awe & love in his eyes when looking at them...it seemed as if he was thinking they were such amazing & beautiful children, he almost couldn’t believe they were his! There seemed a reverence he held for them...take a look, if you haven’t. It’s beautiful to see it! And how he was a very hands-on dad when he was home. In 1961, I was in 8th grade...this cute gal sitting one row over in class, would keep one of Rick's albums-with his pretty face on the front cover--inside of her desk...when the teacher was not looking, the girl would grab that album, and furtively smooch that photo of Rick!....Then she would look at me, and say "shut up about this!".
He had 2 boys, Daniel & Jamie with his first wife who was on the show & adopted 3 children of his second wife, 2 more boys & 1 girl, Teri, who was married to show host, Chuck Woolery. Dave passed in 2011. His first children where born about the same time as Rick’s first 3! Great interview, except that the speed slows down somewhere around 18.00, then the speech becomes very laboured and difficult to hear. Hope it can be fixed.
DAvid and his wife June owned a summer house a block down the street from us in Newport Shores, Newport Beach, CA in the mid-60s. Never saw him, but my mom talked to June. I was 11 and knew more about Ricky than him at the time.
He’s interviewing all the closest people who worked with Rick since it’s a tribute for Rick after he passed! Remembering Ricky is the title. If this weren’t a tribute interview, I’m sure it would have been done differently.
Hi, David ist so friendly, always Smile, very nice. His Brother looks always unfriendly, He looks grim. I thought He arrogant. David ist an modest Person. Ricky Nelson was an good Singer and guitar Player, but James Burton was ver, very, very good.

As kids ,we took are cap guns to western movies,,, shot the bad guys,,,, one time we got kicked out..... Too much fun.... helping out Roy Rogers, who later years put on a show at the college gym...the good old days.... God Bless
It was different world back David and Rockie growing up. Things just started changing with the kids Rockie was wat high school age. Now there s all kids crazy habits people have dressed so different. Language way different now. Way way different
David looks like Ozzie
David looks like Ozzie. Ricky was my favorite ❤❤❤❤
What is David doing now ?
Nice family!
lovesong😇🥰😍🤩😘
I haven't listened to thus all but I think he is discussing Ricky to much. David did a lot of interesting things.
He’s interviewing all the closest people who worked with Rick since it’s a tribute for Rick after he passed! Remembering Ricky is the title. If this weren’t a tribute interview, I’m sure it would have been done differently.
David Nelson died January 11, 2011 at age 74.
sad I always feel bad when they die.
RIP friend 🧬😎🇺🇸
@@kathleenbrown6734 I do too, it’s like part of my own family members dying.

Hi, David ist so friendly, always Smile, very nice.
His Brother looks always unfriendly, He looks grim. I thought He arrogant. David ist an modest Person.
Ricky Nelson was an good Singer and guitar Player, but James Burton was ver, very, very good.
Does anyone know where parts 1 & 2 are of Remembering Ricky? I’m only seeing Parts 3-6 now! A month ago I could see Parts 1 through 6! This was a wonderful labor of Love! Thank you, Mr. John Powers! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Always wondered if they were a Christian family who lived the values of Christ ... And Ricky's wisecracks were classic ...
David was a Christian man. Not sure about Ricky or their parents Ozzie & Harriet.
@@jameswood231 another commenter said he was surprised to read in Ozzie’s autobiography that he was always an atheist. But I haven’t read the book myself.
