What a fantastic guest! I love how transparent he is on the stories of his family , the house and Hollywood. I do remember the very handsome blonde Nelson brothers as very young musicians performing. I took a few pics of Rick Nelson when he performed at the fair in my town (right before he passed away.) I still cherish them to this day.

Then all the stuff about the Flynn house that I'm sure he could dive deeper much deeper into. I mean WOW!!! Have these guys considered writing an autobiography? From the few things Gunnar said, hinted to and made a quick comment about, i can see a 60 hour long audio book. I'd be glued to that!

incredible interview...you can feel Gunnar's pain, sensitivity and sensibility in all this. imagine even thinking your dad knew something was up and saved your life. I could spend hours just listening to this man talk. Part of him wants to be just a regular guy hangin' out with his neighbors on a Saturday afternoon. I am 11 years older than him.
This was really good. So much interesting stuff Gunnar talked about. He seems like a really nice, decent and down to Earth guy. This was an excellent interview.
I absolutely love this one, Jordan. Heard so many stories about Flynn and that house. Tracy Nelson appeared on a ghost story show on Biography years ago in which she talked about seeing Flynn at the bottom of the stairs one night as he held up a glass of champagne to her. It’s so cool that you were able to speak to the Nelson boys directly. Thanks for sharing this! And the photos of the house are just as I would margined it would be. ♥️
This is the best interview ever! I will definitely go back and watch it again. I've always been a fan of the Nelson brothers. I grew up on reruns of the Ozzie and Harriet show. Thanks for such a great episode!
Thank you for showing this interview. I always thought a lot of Rick Nelson, but never really knew a lot about his life when he was older. I really enjoyed listening to Gunnar. As someone who really enjoys history I loved this. 🥰
Wow! Great interview! I could have easily listened to Gunnar for a couple more hours. I loved it when he said he has a low tolerance for stupidity. I really felt for Rick when he said he was gone all the time to get away from his wife and the divorce. I remember when Mark Harmon, Kris Nelson’s brother, tried to get custody of their little brother. She must have really had problems. It was really eerie when he said his Dad didn’t want them riding in the plane the day before the crash. Thanks for sharing this interview.
You Rock Jordan! this is a great interview I love seeing real musicians talk about the business... You sounded thrilled to speak to Gunnar... I would be...much love to you and Jah ❤️
Thank you so much for this interview! Growing up, my Parents would fill the house with the music of Ricky Nelson and other artists they grew up listening to. And then Gunnar and Matthew came along and I enjoyed singing along to their songs, and still do! And I enjoyed watching their sister Tracy in The Father Dowling Mysteries. A very talented family!
THIS was just what the Dr ordered! I have never been to Hollywood but I can honestly tell you that I've always felt something warning me to stay far away. I've always been drawn to the stories, the emotions and feelings that music can stir and create. Music is an entity of it's own. I too am very empathetic and pick up on things so I can relate to everything Gunner talks about. I was introduced to Rick Nelson's music as a tiny little girl. I thought he was better than Elvis! As I got older I went back and watched all the old episodes of Ozzy and Harriette and finally found as many 45's as I could find! Then finally plastering Gunner and Mathew's posters all over my bedroom walls!! I love, love, loved this vlog! Thanks for another home run Jordan❤
Hi Jordan, loved hearing about the Flynn house. How eerie to hear him say that house was alive, that house wasn't just a house, it was a thing. Some properties are better off gone. A very interesting gentleman to listen too. Great hearing about his dad aswell. Great vlog Jordan.
My wife and I met Rick and his band at the Beef N Boards Dinner Theater in Simpsonville, Kentucky. I had worked there before and knew my way backstage, I had watched the Nelsons on tv growing up in the 50s. He was gracious and we all talked for 15 minutes. He signed my Rick Is 21 album and I invited them to our house for music and food but his manager was the only one who said no. It was an experience I won't forget and I'm now 73 years old. I am a bass player since 1964 and I was very impressed with their show and his musicianship on many instruments. We were devastated for a long while when he passed.
This was a terrific interview. Also a really important one for any student of rock and roll history. It was very generous of Gunner Nelson to share his memories with us. Jordan, your channel just keeps getting better and better.
This is a TOP SHELF interview guys! Rethink turning this venue into a regular series. Whatever you decide, we are interested in your work.... fabulous job! ❤❤❤❤
Gunnar is a wonderful story teller, he loved uncle George Harrison ❤️ same. I'm so glad he shared his story on the Errol Flunn house , very dark time for all who was famous . Hollywood royalty isn't that grand for those like him and his family. Thanks for sharing this amazing interview, I could listen to Gunner all day ❤️.
That was a fascinating interview Jordan! I'm always struck by how dark the other side of Hollywood and the music profession can be. I'm glad that Gunnar seems to have come out the other side of it seemingly well adjusted.
Gunnar is not speaking of Hollywood as a business when he speaks of the seaminess of Hollywood. There is Hollywood the physical place and then there is Hollywood that ppl who do not live in California imagine (the entertainment business). Gunnar when he speaks of being an empath and sensing ppl's desperation is speaking of Hollywood the place as the physical location brings many ppl who do not research either the business, nor do they have a backup plan when they come to Hollywood to attempt to realize their dreams which then become broken and then may become homeless or addicted due to lack of prep work and research. I have worked performing and in the biz and heard many Midwesterners and Southerners who dreamt of being musicians or actors and came here without a dime and no contacts or training who nonetheless came to California hoping to make it and convinced because they were handsome or pretty and thus would attain stardom in a year. These are the ppl who become addicted or homeless.
@@IMeMineWho I have lived in L.A. for over 30 years. Perhaps Gunnar was just referring to the seaminess of geographic Hollywood, but I know there is a lot of seaminess in the entertainment business, too.
@@lisa7777 None more than any other biz. Here longer than you AND in the biz. I have experienced more harrassment in normie jobs than in acting or music.
Wow that was a pretty awesome interview. He's such a chill and laidback guy. I can listen to stuff like that for hours! "Mama Cass was our babysitter" and " George Harrison was just 'Uncle George' ". It blows the mind! Very cool!
I was a teen when everyone knew their band and they really hit it big, but I had no idea until now that they had been playing music for so long. Of course, I knew who their family was. Interesting interview. I resonate with his comment about being empathic. I am as well. I'm glad you were able to do this interview. 😊
Excellent interview. I’m 64 and basically on the cusp of growing up listening to Ricky Nelson and was young enough to be able to enjoy Nelson. To this day Ricky Nelson’s version of Fools Rush In is always on my playlist. Gunner’s recollections are fantastic. Thank you for bringing that interview to us.
I feel so lucky to have found your video interview with Gunnar. He’s so well spoken and open. I grew up listening to Rick. I’d love to see Nelson in person now. Just loved listening to Gunnar tell his stories and love his personality. Thank you for bringing him to us.
Same. I have had positive feelings about Gunnar, and the twins in general, but this interview really does reveal Gunnar to be a humble & open person. Great interview.
I'm glad to see this I know Matt and Gunnar, I met them where I live in Kilgore Texas, they played at the Dodson auditorium. They're friends of mine too.
Gunner really does look like his grandpa Ozzie Nelson. Very nice boys . Ricky would be so proud of them and their sister . They excelled in their dads music field and Tracy excelled in the acting. Very talented family.
I actually think he looks more like the Harmon’s side of the family. I can really see his uncle mark in him! I completely agree that Rick would be very proud of how his kids turned out
Thank You!! This was fascinating. So many memories and so much we weren’t told back in the day. I am 74 years old so I loved Ricky so so much. Now I have a new respect for the Nelsons sons who honored their Dads memory and his legacy.
This was a wonderful interview with Gunner. My life stopped when Ozzie and Harriet came on the air and I was in love with Ricky, as many teens were back then. I lived to see and hear him sing. It was also special to hear Gunner talk about the DC3. My dad flew the DC3 in WWII. It was a dangerous time. After the War dad started working for National Airlines and flew until his mandatory retirement at 60. Dad started flying at 14 and never stopped. Thank you for bringing back so many heartwarming memories.
I truly enjoy your vlogs with Matthew and Gunner Nelson. There stories are always so fascinating. They go into great detail on their and their Dad's lifes. Excellent job on the Vlog.
Fantastic interview!! I was at a show at the Tropicana in Atantic City in 1983 and in walks Ricky Nelson as an audience member. He was so gorgeous in blue jeans and a black leather jacket! Rick telling his sons to take a commercial air flight is similar to Jayne Mansfield stopping the car and putting her children in the back seat before her accident. I hope Rick was happily in love with the girlfriend he was with at the end. Would love a Part 2 to this interview!
Probably one of the best vlogs you've done to date. No news organization has been able to get this level of detail from a Nelson family member like you have. Bravo to you Jordan.
One of the best and most enjoyable things I've ever seen you do. As an old baby boomer, we were all fans of Ozzie and Harriet and especially Ricky Nelson. I actually liked him better than Elvis way back then though I like Elvis of course. His son is so intelligent and well-spoken, this was just a great great interview.
I agree...but I think he and Elvis are both my favorites..different styles of music 🎶 both equally talented..what an amazing interview..thank Gunner from all of us..he gave us great information...he truly survived Hollywood..
I have always loved Nelson’s music but never had any idea how incredibly talented they truly are in a lot of different ways. Also I could listen to Gunnar speak and tell stories for hours. Great interview ❤️
The Nelson kids have been thru a lot (sister Tracy as well). What a legacy this family has….so sad we lost Ricky so early. Yes, they could write volumes of books with all the stories- would definitely be a best seller.
Excellent video! I had wondered what had happened to "Nelson". I am very impressed with Gunnar. Intelligent and personable. Fascinating story of his late father during his last year of life. Of course the Flynn House History was mind blowing. Bad juju on that property! Keep up the great work!
I really liked this interview. Jordan I'm glad you decided to do the Rick Nelson vlog, especially since it led to your friendship with Gunnar. Nice story.
This was a wonderful storytelling session with Gunnar Nelson! I was riveted by his every word, and didn't want Jordan to interrupt him at all. Fascinating stuff. I don't if he's written an autobiography, but he definitely should. He's got the storytelling skill. Thanks to you both for doing this great video! 👍☮🌟
I was in a classic/southern rock band in the late 80s and early 90’s, and I loathed these guys. But I saw a special on them a couple years ago plus this great episode, and my opinion has completely changed. Much respect!!! And thanks for coming through with the Flynn House story!
Great interview! Is there a part2?? This was Amazing hearing the history of the house and the Nelson family which I grew up with my Mom loving and being a big Rick Nelson fan and being fans of Nelson and loving watching Tracy in Square pegs so much history hope to hear more. Loved it so much! Thanks
I watched this vlog w/ Gunner Nelson yesterday and today watch the Erroll Flynn House you made in 2017 and you mentioned Gunner Nelson. Lately I have missed some of your vlogs. So happy that I started with this one. I always love interviews with Gunnar and Matthew. They always seem open and comfortable. Gunnar's story style goes really well with the way you interview. I love that you ask the question or make a prodding statement and stay out of the way so the interviewee can answer. As always an entertaining and informative vlog. With one of my favorite musicians. Easy to admit I have all or most of Matt and Gunnar's music.
Wow! This was a GREAT interview! I came because I have a fascination of the Errol Flynn house, but Gunnar told great stories about everything. Thanks for this.
I watched Ricky Nelson on t.v. back in the 1950s and my best friend and I went to see him perform at the Minnesota State Fair in 1960 when we were 12. What happened to him was such a shock and tragedy but it’s lovely to see his sons continue the family music legacy. Gunnar is such an interesting young man. Great interview!
I am so excited that you had the chance to do this vlog, Gunnar is such a great guy, and very easy to talk to. So interesting to learn about the house that they lived in with their Pops. I learned a lot about the music scene & Hollywood in the 1980's from this interview. They have had quite a life, someday it will make a great book! I am so glad you all became friends, nice people need to stick together in this world! Great vlog, Jordan, I'm going to watch it again!!! 🌼

Thank you
I'm binge watching your channel new sub so happy I found you Thank-you!
What about Tracey;
@@DazewithJordantheLion So who owns the eryl flyn house now in 2023?
Such a fantastic interview Jordan!! I love how open and honest Gunnar was about life and the reality of the music/film industry.
I really enjoyed this interview. He has lots of great Hollywood stories...he should write a book about growing up in Hollywood.
I agree!!
"Growing up Nelson!"
I love them, and the Gram Parsons 💕 tee.. .was it Matthew that dated Bobbie Brown? I miss Tracy, hope she is doing well.
I really love how personable the Nelson twins are, they should have a Reality show or podcast with their brother Sam and their sister Tracey too!!🥰
Thank you for showing this interview. I always thought a lot of Rick Nelson, but never really knew a lot about his life when he was older. I really enjoyed listening to Gunnar. As someone who really enjoys history I loved this. 🥰
Gunnar is refreshingly authentic and no-nonsense. It is fun to listen to his stories and perspective. Thank you!
I met Mark Harmon very 👍
These guys have an encyclopedic knowledge of the Hollywood scene on so many levels. Thank you for this golden interview!
You Rock Jordan!
this is a great interview I love seeing real musicians talk about the business... You sounded thrilled to speak to Gunnar... I would be...much love to you and Jah ❤️
Best Nelson interview I've seen
Thank you so much for this interview! Growing up, my Parents would fill the house with the music of Ricky Nelson and other artists they grew up listening to. And then Gunnar and Matthew came along and I enjoyed singing along to their songs, and still do! And I enjoyed watching their sister Tracy in The Father Dowling Mysteries. A very talented family!
Same here! Their uncle is famous too!
@@hammy6275 I wonder how many know who their uncle is…
@hammy uncle is david
@@patriciatypner6770 also Mark Harmon 💙 his sister Kristin married Ricky 💜💙
Yes I knew that@ Brenda he’d done n ty
Nelson's are my family friends. Glad to see and hear of them again
Continued success & God Bless, Matthew & Gunnar! Haribol Harmony
If you haven't watched the interview with Tracy living or staying in that house, I highly recommend it..
Pretty creepy
@@gettheledout4510 Yes, was goin to mention it. Celebrity Ghost Stories
And his babysitter Cass.. so cool to hear the stories
Great interview. Thanks I could have listened to him for hours.
I was so in love with Nelson when I was younger, specifically Matthew. And yes, I still remember every word to their songs, lol.
EXCELLENT interview! Thank you.
@@IMeMineWho I'm glad you have had a positive experience.
@@lisa7777 Ty. And I wish you success in your endeavors.
Hello 👋 Tara, how are you doing?
Excellent interview. I’m 64 and basically on the cusp of growing up listening to Ricky Nelson and was young enough to be able to enjoy Nelson. To this day Ricky Nelson’s version of Fools Rush In is always on my playlist. Gunner’s recollections are fantastic. Thank you for bringing that interview to us.
One of if not the most compelling vlogs I’ve seen you do. He’s articulate, smart, and had a great story. Thanks for sharing this one.
73 yrs old fan of the Nelsons. So glad to find this interview. Gunnar is Very intelligent and articulate. Seems like a really nice guy.
Loved this vlog. What a extraordinary life Gunnar has lived. They need to make a movie thru the eyes of Rick Nelson.
I feel so lucky to have found your video interview with Gunnar. He’s so well spoken and open. I grew up listening to Rick. I’d love to see Nelson in person now. Just loved listening to Gunnar tell his stories and love his personality. Thank you for bringing him to us.

best interview yet Jordan! Gunnar is cool and i have a brand new respect for the man
I completely agree that Rick would be very proud of how his kids turned out
@@MiMisTreasures yes he would.
I agree, he does!
@@nancywood9531that's funny, I don't see Ozzie at all 🤷
This is an EXCELLENT interview!!! Thank you!
Loved this! Could listen to him talk about those days for another 4 hours, fascinating.
I would too, Gunner is a great storyteller I would love to hear more about the house and his time in the music business.
I loooove Gram Parsons
Especially when he sang with Emmy Lou Harris
Probably one of the best vlogs you've done to date. No news organization has been able to get this level of detail from a Nelson family member like you have. Bravo to you Jordan.
I hope the nelson brothers do another album love their music. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
I totally agree with you
I agree...but I think he and Elvis are both my favorites..different styles of music 🎶 both equally talented..what an amazing interview..thank Gunner from all of us..he gave us great information...he truly survived Hollywood..
Very well said Sir.
Very intresting broadcast. I enjoyed listening to Gunnar's stories. 😊
I have always loved Nelson’s music but never had any idea how incredibly talented they truly are in a lot of different ways. Also I could listen to Gunnar speak and tell stories for hours. Great interview ❤️
Wow.....STUNNING INTERVIEW. THANK YOU FOR THIS ONE!
Thank you Jordan...... amazing....they sound like their father,,,,, love it !!
Really enjoyed this interview! Gunnar has a sensitive intellligent personality and is good at telling his life stories. Much appreciate you.
The Nelson kids have been thru a lot (sister Tracy as well). What a legacy this family has….so sad we lost Ricky so early. Yes, they could write volumes of books with all the stories- would definitely be a best seller.
What an Awesome interview! This Entire family is down to earth good people!
Excellent video! I had wondered what had happened to "Nelson". I am very impressed with Gunnar. Intelligent and personable. Fascinating story of his late father during his last year of life. Of course the Flynn House History was mind blowing. Bad juju on that property! Keep up the great work!
Getting the views in with Gunnar!! GREAT video! Gunnar really STILL draws you in!!
Great video loved the interview with the Nelson’s!
Fascinating interview with Gunner... watched all 3 videos
Great job Jordan!
Hello 👋dear, how are you doing?
What a fantastic interview!!! Chock full of stories and secrets! THank you soo much for sharing your friendship with us.
Great video Jordan. I grew up watching replays of the Ozzie and Harriet shows. I like Gunnar's take on the entertainment industry.
What a fantastic interview. Thanks, Jordan. Gunnar for sure should be writing a book!
I was in a classic/southern rock band in the late 80s and early 90’s, and I loathed these guys. But I saw a special on them a couple years ago plus this great episode, and my opinion has completely changed. Much respect!!! And thanks for coming through with the Flynn House story!
Awesomeness!!!! Thank you for sharing your experience w/ the world. ❤️
Thanks
That is amazing, when you are as spellbound watching the rehearsal as you would be watching the concert 😍💖
I watched this vlog w/ Gunner Nelson yesterday and today watch the Erroll Flynn House you made in 2017 and you mentioned Gunner Nelson. Just a reminder of how life is like connecting the dots - from your friendship w/ Shelly Winters telling you about the house to 5 yrs later your doing a vlog w/ Gunner. Can't wait to watch future Daze with Jordan the Lion vlogs *Jordan - you have a guardian angel
Great interview, and Gram Parsons T-Shirt.
Does anyone ever say No to Jordan for an interview? I think everyone can see what we do...genuine and authentic nice guy!
Wow! This was a GREAT interview! I came because I have a fascination of the Errol Flynn house, but Gunnar told great stories about everything. Thanks for this.
Could listen to Gunnar all day what a guy .
I like the way Gunnar Nelson tells a story. Very engaging and fun to listen to. Thumbs up!
Great interview. Thank you Jordan.
Great interview Jordan their dad would be proud Rest In Peace Rickey.
What a fantastic interview and story.
