A huge thanks to the publisher for sponsoring Glen and me to cover the game - pretty humbling when Obsidian are one of your sponsors... Crazy times! Support us and check it out here: l.daredrop.com/GroundedSwitchUp - cheers. Mark
I LOVE the fact that they made it able to play in 3rd person. It's hard for me to enjoy first-person games. I always wondered why it couldn't be optional.
Same! First person games make me dizzy and nauseous, so I always love when games that either are first person or have it as an option give us third person! Thank goodness! lol.
Laziness is the main reason it's not optional. All of the most successful and popular games have it as an option so there's no real reason for it to not be included in every game aside from they just didn't feel like it .
i don't like that on sponsored video you don't speak about performances (while is your main focus on personal reviews) and from the footage they honestly look not that great. Keep the integrity up for your community :)
Nice one guys!! Well deserved sponsorship. Knew you would be my go to for the Nintendo Switch version of this game. I am slightly interested in this now, especially as one of "those" Micros games.
That looks absolutely delightful! I remember wanting to play it a long time ago but never had means to do so. It's pretty sick that it made its way to switch
Being an 80s kid my brother and I fell in love with this game instantly. We spent a lot of hours in this when it was in alpha/beta testing on PC. Each time they released new content we would dive back in and love this game even more! I don't have much time for the PC anymore since the 2nd child so I feel this could be a good investment due to the switches portability.. Can always have a sneaky play while I'm rocking the little one to sleep lol 😂 Cheers for the video guys 💚
As someone who’s an 90s kid (as this game takes place in 1990) same here. I just shared this game with mom, I’m teaching her how to play and she loves it.
Possibly my earliest childhood memory is from the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids ride/exhibit on a trip to Universal Studios in 1995. I was obsessed with bugs and watched the movie regularly when I was a kid because of how fascinating I thought the idea of being that small was. Growing up I always wanted a game that captured the experience of being shrunk down to the size of a bug. There have been brief moments in games or entire games that came kind of close like the ant hill in MediEvil, the A Bug’s Life game on PS1, the Army Men: Sarge’s Heroes series, It Takes Two, and Terraria always made me feel like I was exploring an ant farm (I may be the only one who feels that way 🤷♂️ ). I’ve always felt like shrinking the player down to that size would make for a really interesting game and it’s always baffled me why it’s so underutilized. When this and Smalland were announced I finally felt justified for feeling that way. I feel like I’ve been preparing for this game my whole life and I’m so happy it’s finally on consoles. I’m downloading it on my PS5 right now. If any developers happen to see this, thank you for making my childhood dream come true.
Very cool to see Microsoft (by extension) sponsor this video, but not going to lie I'd been selfishly hoping you all would give a proper review of the game once it released
Nice. This takes me back to the 80's and the wonder I had watching Honey, I Shrunk the Kids in the theater on my birthday. Congrats on the sponsor too. Cheers!
Appreciate you guys not giving a proper review since the video was sponsored...but was really hoping for a critique specifically for the Switch version, i.e. how well it runs and if there are any issues. Great video regardless 👍
This actually looks surprisingly good for the switch, sure it does looks like clay but a semi open sandbox in your hands sounds good, cant wait for the next gen of the switch!
Gotta say, your guys reviews have been fair for any game you’re reviewing. TY for this review as I have been interested in it, but really wanted to see it running on the Switch first.
This looks awesome. I re watched Honey I Struck the kids fairly recently. It holds up well, forgot how much of it contained practical effects. Hopefully this will take me back to my childhood.
I played this a few years ago on game pass and did not like it because it was in early alpha. I am very interested in revisiting this game after watching your video. Playing in hand held is also a big plus. Keep up the awesome videos
Glad to see it running as well as it does on switch. This was a game i wanted to play for years on my xbox but never got around to it but i definitely will once that switch physical comes out!
Was about to pick up my time at Sand Rock as my next cozy game since I'm about to finish Dave the diver which is mildly cozy . But seen this on sale so was contemplating getting grounded on switch instead . Glad you guys did a review bc I think I'm gonna grab it instead and just wait for Sand Rock to go on sale again in the future.
Thank you for the overview of the Switch port of this game, gents! I loved playing this game on my Xbox One, and it looks like I will bee picking it up again on Switch! Cheers!
I never thought this would come to the Switch. It seemed like a perfect fit but Microsoft wanted to hold on to it for a while. I’m glad it retains its charm and playability on the Switch.
Really appreciate all the accessibility options to lower water/food requirements and even to make yourself invulnerable to attacks. Will definitely be getting a copy or 2 to play with my kids
I'm glad this game was ported to the Nintendo Switch. I’ve been updated on the development on this game from my friends playing on pc, so having cross platform support is definitely a huge benefit and night even be the reason I pick up the game! Glad this review came out so I didn’t miss that!
This was a great video, ive been watching you guys for about a year now and it has never been dull watching a video from you guys. Have a good rest of your day switchup.
I am absolutely addicted to this game. It's so fun and plays excellent on the switch, especially in handheld. The perfect "on the go" game. The playgrounds mode is intuitive and grants you the ability to do SO MUCH stuff. It's incredible. $32 was a steal for me. I also ordered the physical from Limited Run.....MAYBE I will try for the collector's edition.... It is a bit of an eclectic collection.
@@xcrack6364 thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. I’m nearly 70 and I’ve always played with both axis inverted. Now I’m on a pension I can’t afford to buy games that I won’t be able to play. I got caught the last time because you could invert y but not x so I really do appreciate your help 🙂
I immediately texted my wife telling her about this game. Being able to change from 1st or 3rd person removes any motion sickness issues and I’m pretty stoked! This sounds awesome and it’s on my wishlist before the video even finished.
As someone who owns and plays Grounded on Steam Deck, I kinda just want it on Switch. Why do I want to play every game on the switch?!?! Also, grats on the sponsor friends, you guys deserve it, definitely the best Switch channel out there!
I remember playing this before release on Xbox way back, wolf spiders were ridiculously loud in my headphones and the sound they made would turn you pale lol
Oh yeah, the wolf spiders are...terrifying. I played with two other players and you would always, with out fail, hear someone yell " to the can, to the can!!!" By the oak tree cause they agrooed a wolf spider.
I'd love to give this a shot on switch, played some on Xbox when it first came out but it's been a while since. Thanks for the preview guys! I could see myself putting many hours into this!
Bring on the honey I blew up the kid sequel, where we're giant insects trying to survive against the angry humans and we have to try and be passive and build our colony while getting attacked by tanks and old ladies with pepper spray.
I was legit wondering if it was worth it or not and the fact this came out an hour ago clearly this was for me i just wanted to see if it was similar to the game play on Xbox besides the elongated screen seems pretty similar
What a cool looking game. The nostalgia of the honey i shrunk the kids similarity doesnt hurt. Live the idea of being able to switch between 1st and 3rd person.
another greate game from Obsidian and it's now available on Switch, clearly a game to buy!!! and with the perk of taking us back to the early 90's with the Shrunk the kids vibe. thanks for the review
I have a funny feeling this is going to be one of the few games the FPS for others don't live up to the SwitchUp report... I was really hoping to find more Switch deep dive info on the game vs explaining what the game is for any platform, nevertheless thank you for the video.
Looks like a really fun game, playing out my childhood imagination, lying in the grass, in my hands. Funny, I saw this video drop last night, I’m sure it was titled “before you buy”
Yeah I don't like those before you buy titles they make it sound like there's something wrong that people need to know. They annoy me basically haha. Mark

I was expecting a full review but an overview is just as good. I always go to you gents for your fair reviews regardless and this game has been on my radar since Neebs Gaming. The price is not bad and the performance looks solid. I guess my biggest challenge is whether to face it solo or try to find friends 😅 Happy Gaming 🍻
Blown away at this gem of a game. So happy to play this and pre-order the Limited Run physical edition which is still up as of this comment. Amazing game! 😊

How do you enter the competition?
Font size adjustment is so very appreciated as a handheld exclusive player, thanks Devs and cheers Mark for letting us know about it.
Can you also invert x and y camera if playing in 3rd person?
@@ruthurban1959 ooh good question 🤔 hopefully an answer is forthcoming or available online 😀
It's pretty important but not many devs gives you the option, which is sad😔
woot!
Agreed. So many games end up unplayable in handheld when you can’t get through tiny menus.
Obsidian are such an interesting company. Their games go in so many different directions, and they always manage to pull them off!
