Using those clear plastic applicators wastes so much product that can never be used. I personally just squeeze directly out of the tube and apply to the valve cover itself. Never failed me yet. No waste and easy job
I bought some aftermarket gaskets from eBay as they were pretty cheap. Held up for 6 months before I started noticing the leaks again. I will try hondabond this time. That thing is made for v6 engines so I am pretty sure it will work for this small engine. Thanks for the tip 👍
You need to put a 1/8” bead all the way around then give it few minutes and install cover. Screw the bolts until cover pulls to head. The 1/8” bead will spread out when squeezed by tightening bolts.
Greetings, I bought a new 2024 Toro time cutter max 50in, (Briggs Stratton engine) after 40 minutes of use a dripping oil from the bottom of the valve cover of one of the cylinders. What do you recommend me to do. Lowe's says bring it back and give my money back or go ahead and resealed as you did on yours? Thank you so much for assisting me 🇺🇲🎉🍾🇺🇲
If the gasket is no good and there is oil in the valve cover and on the valves can that cause the mower to not start? Is there suppose to be some oil in the valve cover and on the valves?
Did you say spray with brake cleaner. Hadn't heard of that product, wondering if a little alcohol on a wipe would do the trick so the glue has to stick.
Brake cleaner is a solvent that evaporates quickly. As the name suggests, it is used to clean brake parts. Mostly, new brake rotors. It cleans the factory grease and oil off the rotors and leaves a clean, non-slippery surface. Because obviously, you don't want the brake pads to slip.

It should be under warranty. Get a new one. You shouldn't have to put money and time into such a new mower. That is my opinion. Thanks for watching.

You need oil on those valves. That is what keeps everything moving smoothly.
I have the same problem except my mower has ran low on oil and now will no longer start what’s wrong with it
What would be the labor cost on a job like that?

I bought mine brand new and it leaked after 4 months of use.
Sounds typical.
