Mate great job on the JP. I really enjoyed watching how you weathered the vehicle...time spent is well worth it..great stuff. Could I offer one suggestion that a lot of German tank modellers (and companies that write the instructions) may not be aware of. The external fire extinguishers of German vehicles (not sure allies but assume the same) were painted the same colour as the tank (even in tricam). Whatever paint colour is in the location the FE was painted that colour - red did not come in as a standard until the 1950's. The internal FE could have been brown/metal colour/copper or red. Hope that helps your other builds. Look forward to seeing more.
thanks mate. I read the fire extinguishers were painted base color of the tank in most cases but the person i built this model for wanted it red as he had seen another model of mine with the red FE and liked it. Thanks for your comment mate really appreciate it.
Again an awesome build, learned a few new things along the way too. Can't wait to start building again myself, just recently decided to start building again after 5 years. Moved to Thailand 5 years ago and left everything in Holland. I'm now buying all the stuff again here in Thailand, hard to find but last week a Thai friend gave me a good address in Bangkok, and they have pretty much everything. Keep it up Wayne, really enjoy your work and explaining.
thanks mate. Good to see your going to start building again. You will have to send me some pics of your build when you start mate. What are the prices like in Thailand?
This is the shop I was referring to: www.winnerhobby.co.th/?SP=GMWEB-07040314382400444 Some prices are cheaper than on Ebay and some are more expensive, but it doesn't vary much. Last week I went to a big shopping mall in Pattaya and they had a nice choice of kits and when I compared prices from winnerhobby and Ebay with the mall it only varied a few hundred Baht. I ordered an air compressor here: www.resinrungart.com/category/4344/1887/airbrush A complete airbrush kit set me back around Aust. $130 I think that's a fair price. When I finish a model I will surely send you some pics.
+scalemodelmania looks great. One thing I would point out to you for future builds is that the fire extinguishers were usually the color of the tank or panzer grey. They didn’t put red fire extinguishers on the outside. Overall a very nice kit mate. Love the jagdpanther!
Thanks mate. I found that out after this build. Some body did say they had some red inside but this was rare. Always learning, One of the things i love about this hobby
The reason for porting the muzzle to the sides (helping with the recoil) is that you wouldn't get the inevitable dust cloud, that downward blast would induce, obscuring your visibility and marking out your position. If you look around online, I doubt you will see a any tanks deviating from this formula. Thank you for the weathering tips and tricks, superb.
Good Build, looks spot on. I have worked on the real thing, early version for IWM in UK. and built the Dragon Early Jagdpather really loved your build.
Very inspirational and this video will help me a lot. I noticed you didn't do this on this build but any tips on wearing thru the decal numbers and such, like if the painted on numbers are being worn thru or thin?
thanks mate. Weathering decals can be done by using base color over the decal to make it look worn through or you can use very light grad sandpaper (2000 grit) to wear through them. But be careful not to go to far and remove paint as well. Let me know how you go mate.
How did you paint the tracks without getting black onto the main hull? Normally I would leave the tracks off and paint them separately, but you got a fantastic end result leaving them on.
thanks mate. I use a very long thin brush with painted thinned to make it much easier to use. I change all the time some build i paint in place and others i put tracks on after.
Looking at getting into WWII model building, always wanted to do this. Love the detail and work you put into these and its a bonus you're a fellow Aussie ;)
HI. Great looking Jagdpanther. I'm returning back to hobby after a 20 year absence & was wondering if you would recommend this kit (or any other Dragon kits) for fairly novice builder?
Thanks mate. This kit was very good to build. If you are a little uncertain then i would suggest tamiya kits as they go together very well and a re not loaded with small photo etch like some dragon kits. Welcome back to the hobby mate and let me know how you go.
Dragon "Smart Kits" like the one shown here have reduced part count without sacrificing too much detail. But yeah, Tamiya kits are low part count and the parts fit together well.
This is truly superb. One thing was bothering me though. Is the muzzle break meant to be vertical like that instead of horizontal? I was thinking maybe something dragon specified?
thanks mate. Yes the brake is wrong but its not glued on as i was waiting for a metal barrel to replace it. Its amazing how many have picked this up. Thanks again.
Hi. New subscriber here. I’ve got this kit. Doesn’t it feature a two option build? How does one follow the instructions for this kind of thing? It’s so confusing. Dan
Very nice build. Your painting and weathering is flawless. That is my weak part. My camo. paint work doesn't look near as good as yours. I'm getting better by watching your videos. How do you ship your models so they don't get damaged?
thanks mate. It took me years of playing around to get to this point and i still have a ways to go. Comments like yours give me pride of our art and inspire me to keep getting better and help my fellow modelers. I have attached the model to its base and taped a lid over it. then i place in the correct size box and use padding around all sides to stop it from moving. I also use this side up and fragile stickers all over the box to stop mishandling. thanks again for your comment mate.
Hi mate. I use mr thinner 400 to thin my paints and i use mostly tamiya and mr color paints. I have used ammo and mig paints but have the same problem as you. Hope this helps mate.
scalemodelmania I've been playing that game since the first one...for 10 years now. I've been playing with the same people..most from South Africa and England. it's the only PC game I play. I love German WW2 ..everything. the movie Dunkirk is coming out soon. Should be awesome.
Yeah i am PC gamer mostly, but i do play some XBOX One games as well.. I seen the trailer for Dunkirk a few days ago, it looks awesome, can't wait to see it on the big screen.
My friend paid me $200 for this model. I don't often build on comisssion as i spend a lot of time making the models the best i can for the buyer but i can't charge for my time as it would cost them to much.
I am sure some people would pay that much but i feel bad charging that much for a model. I got $400 for a 1/32 F-16 which had a lot of after maket deail added. I really just love building them now and sharing with you guys.
I appreciate it! I started with ..hot rods...then to tanks...and then aircraft..I use to love it. Now I have no time. I must have built every aircraft from ww1 to the end of Vietnam...plus C-130 Hercules ..I loved making WW2 medium and heavy bombers. and all the cool Vietnam war planes!! I have had to make over 3-400 planes. ...I don't have any now..they all got broken, given away or thrown out.
Mate great job on the JP. I really enjoyed watching how you weathered the vehicle...time spent is well worth it..great stuff.

Yes,the Jadgpanther looks fantastic,SMM. The paint job came out beautiful + the detailing & weathering.
Thanks mate. Had fun doing this one.
Great build ! Very helpful. May i ask which of the two options included in the kit di you build ? Is it the G1 or the G2 ?
+scalemodelmania looks great. One thing I would point out to you for future builds is that the fire extinguishers were usually the color of the tank or panzer grey. They didn’t put red fire extinguishers on the outside. Overall a very nice kit mate. Love the jagdpanther!

scalemodelmania yup I agree. Really like your weathering process mate. Keep up the nice work, looking forward to more armor content. Cheers.
Great build and beautiful camouflage scheme! I love that paint job.
Absolutely superb mate, although I've never seen a tank gun muzzle porting up and down, only to the sides...

Great build...get well. Watched on 10/5/16...hope you're better now.
Thanks mate. yep i am much better now.
What did you do to those exhausts? Just rust wash over black? They look a bit more "powdery" than that.
Hi mate. I painted them with 2 rust colors and then applied a rust powder to give the texture.
Is the muzzle brake in the correct alignment? I've never seen it on the top and bottom like that before.
No mate its not glued in place in these pics as i was waiting on a metal replacement. Very good pickup mate
Good Build, looks spot on. I have worked on the real thing, early version for IWM in UK. and built the Dragon Early Jagdpather really loved your build.
Thanks mate. How cool to have worked on these beast.

thanks mate
Excellent work,well done.
Looks good for painting RAF camo patterns...etc.
Looking at getting into WWII model building, always wanted to do this. Love the detail and work you put into these and its a bonus you're a fellow Aussie ;)
Thanks mate. Jump in mate its a great hobby.

hi, any home made pigment fixer solution?
