Had you Seen Poppy Playtime Movie
Mike if you need help understanding anything about this movie, I am here to help lol.
I'm okay on the horror game film from blumhouse to be honest the other films by blumhouse made me bored
The ghostface knife clean/swipe was a nice touch 👌
I started jumping up and down when I saw that one, and my husband was like, “What’s wrong with you?” 🤣🤣
Yeah crazy how nobody is even talking about that
It’s Halloween, I guess everyone is entitled to one good scare.
I was waiting for Matthew to go “I’m feeling a bit woozy here” after they got him at the end hahaha
Same here.
I guess another easter egg or cool thing about him being the monster in a costume animatronic was the fact that he also starred in the Scooby doo films. If that makes sense
I love how Matthew did the Ghostface knife wipe in it.
when the film started off with that saw-esque bear mask trap i was like "oh shit!" but the films ultimately just bored me. never played the game or anything but game fans seem happy so im happy for them
Appreciate it :')
also everyone was way too chill with the fact there were ghosts controlling the animatronics and dead child corpses inside them. literally nobody questioned it?! they were just like "ah, cool"
My sentiments exactly!
@@ConnardYulie mike literally could not care less he was like "yeah ghosts okay" then moved right on lol
9:12 that made 0 sense... why would he lose his job when someone broke in when he wasnt on shift?? hes not 24 hour security, when he clocks out it aint his responsibility anymore
It’s so awesome to hear non fnaf fan learning about the animatronics haunted by children’s souls.
My sister and I saw it last night, we been fans since the game first came out, we enjoyed it and we are hoping for a sequel
Im stoked you all enjoyed it! My daughter is a huge fan and she was kind of mid on it. Didn't like what they did with the lore but I'm stoked for the people who do like it
@@WeWatchedAMovieI think for the most part people who are already fans of the series will mostly enjoy it (though I can see some people not liking the changes in lore for sure), people who are interested but not initiated into the series might find it okay, and people who never cared for the series… probably still won’t care. It’s definitely not for a general populace I don’t think
One thing ive noticed is people who dont know the lore, say this movie is mid at best, but those who know the lore say it was really good.
One downside is this is made for the fans, so only the fans will understand the movie and it doesnt explain it to the non-fans. There are alot of easter eggs for us, and appearances from popular fnaf youtubers (which was exciting), but normal people wouldnt even know who they are
"Is my wife a money grubbing whore? Now those are questions " man i can quote the departed from beginning to end..its my all time favorite
My 12 year old fuckin' LOVED IT! i was hoping the sequels would ramp up the horror a bit, but a $78 million opening weekend on a $20 million budget means more of the same 🤷♂️
This movie could’ve been so much better but my main problem with it was how boring it was we literally didn’t get one on screen kill without a jump cut or panning away, I understand it’s pg13 but Jesus Christ what an absolute slog to get through. R rating, better dialogue between people and less repetitive scenes and this movie could’ve been easily an 8.5.
"you have a date with Herbst municipal court" - Will Ferrel, Night at the Roxbury
If this isn’t a clue that stu macher will return than I don’t know what is
Dude I was so excited to see Lilard playing tht good ball in the office!! Haha cracked me up!!
Mike he reminded me of Milton from Office Space!! Lol!! It was beautiful!!
I kind of figured that our cast thought these 15 year old animatronics were actually million dollar Boston Dynamics robots that can do cool shit. Kind of like Scream 3 all thought we were stupid enough to buy into a deep fake voice changer in the year 2000. I mean, did they actually realize they were supernatural and just...roll with it? I get this is for the Goosebumps crowd but that is mighty stupid.
The real answer is in the games, the kids spirits are lashing out at any adults they perceived as their killer (and why the pizzerias were insistent that everyone leave before dark), when the pizzeria is opened during business hours the animatronic side takes over, but they can still stare at adults but be fine with kids (since they were kids) and after hours is when the shit hits the aspen.
(I bounced from the story after the third game, BTW, Sister Location and the free one I listened to, but it gets contrived really easy)
The animatronic who was in the house and killed the aunt and was in the taxi was not Freddy. He is Golden Freddy, and a complete ghost entity. He's the counterpart to Golden Bonnie (William).
I actually liked the main character, and how he was played... I was really rooting for him...
Dude, you freakin nailed this review! I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said about this dreadful movie. The animatronics looked so cool and creepy. It's unfortunate that they didn't give them anything to do.
The intro of the movie correctly explains what Spring Bonnie (aka William Afton did) to the children after his son was killed by slightly older bullies. They put his son's head up in Freddy's mouth and the tears from the kid made Freddy's mouth close down and crack his neck. This is why Willaim kills the children now. I was surprised they never explained that in the film, but perhaps they might explain it in Fnaf 2. However, they did explain Vanessa's experience with him considering she is the daughter of Willaim Afton, and she had to witness his murders as he took each kid somewhere to be butchered and stuffed inside the animatronic suits, one by one. She was as young as those kids, if not slightly older. She couldn't do anything about it. Its fucked.
I have a theory with Mike Schmit on the fact that he could quite possibly be Micheal Afton. I say this because Steve (aka William Afton) stops reading out loud when he reads out Mike's full name. This makes sense because William killed his little brother. I don't know too much about the lore but from what I have read the Afton family is tremendously fucked. I do hope most things get covered in the two other films that will be coming out.
I have to inform you the FNAF movie and and the games are two different universes because there are many differences in the movie and the time periods is not even accurate to the game also one of the older bullies is Michael Afton and the kids that William killed and the older bullies are not the same also it’s no surprise because the FNAF books is a also a different universe
Also the tears did not kill the crying child that is not how spring lock suits work it’s the big pressure from the animatronic also William Afton kidnapping Mike’s brother never happened in the game also William Afton’s death is completely different and Mike has different siblings
The story of FNAF plays out through various games. through these games we learn the backstory. they took the characters story from several of the games and put it all into this one movie. they left off certain characters, probably for the sequel. As for the female cop. her character in the game turns out to be a serial killer too.
I know that a lot people don’t like the building a fort scene but then again the animatronics are possessed by children and just imagine how lonely they must been stuck in a chain pizza restaurant for many years and they’re childhoods have been cut short by William Afton also they see Abby as a new friend to play because the location has been abandoned for long time and not single kid has been there and they haven’t had happiness ever since they got murdered by Afton and this is the first time they ever had fun ever since what happened to them. They are confused and scared children who’s lives were unfortunately cut short not to mention they definitely don’t like or trust adults btw I know that they tried to put Abby in a suit but Afton probably manipulated them thinking it’s okay to do this and that Abby will stay with them forever.
Fell Asleep twice 1 theater & 1 watching on Peacock. I’m gonna drink coffee to watch beginning to end. lol put everything in movie from games
Really looking forward to a When Evil Lurks review
You forgot Mats (Stu's) knife wipe off. He had to do it deliberately. 🤓😎
All these monsters inside of a f n chuck e cheese. Lol. Love it. Not the movie, the quote. Lol
As a FNAF fan myself (since FNAF 4), I loved the movie. William Afton's role was AMAZING, but the repetitive scenes with the dreams and the scene where they build a fort FUCKING killed me. I would have rather had more scenes with the animatronics themselves haunting Mike, in the original game These animatronics tend to make you fucking stressed out to the limit. You're hearing sounds of kitchen plates everywhere in the kitchen, sounds of unhuman voices next to your office, the guy on the phone who helps you with playing the game gets killed on phone by the animatronics in the middle of the chaos and you're trying as best as you could to keep the power so they don't enter your office. Where was that fear with them in the movie?.
matter a fact the original game was PG-13 and they still made it horrific, if you lost in the game Mike himself would get stuffed in the suit by them
Also, apparently, some of those very wacky scenes were because they're kids; in the original games, they were also kids, and they hated anyone who they didn't trust in the pizzaria and scared them for life, much like the guard in the opening of the film.
“Have you watched terminator 2? Have you watched Dateline NBC?” 😂😂
I think people forget this is based on the novel silver eyes. It makes more sense after you read the book.
One big plot issue that kept bothering me... The aunt wants the kid because there is a lot of money that comes with the kid... Then how come he couldn't pay rent, and couldn't even give any money to a babysitter...
lmao didnt even consider that one!
I’m sure it was just enough to pay rent. He probably still needed money for other expenses. Life costs way more than paying rent haha
His aunt just wanted extra money
Im surprised in the past 2 years the lac of skits with Michael and loomis during horror month thats what made horror month in my opinion
I am surprised too that nobody watches when we make them!
@@WeWatchedAMovie omg I love them
@@WeWatchedAMovieI have watched you guys for 5 years and love you guys I personally love your skits and unboxings as long as you have a box cutter😂happy Halloween to you guys
and to you as well! And thank you!
What about Matthew Lillard wiping the knife before his reveal?
Thank you! I jumped up and down when I saw that. 😂
This film was just not good. The acting was so poor and the execution was awful. The dialogue was so cringeworthy.
Been waiting on this , as a small fan of FNAF I’m curious on whether it’s worth the watch in theatres
From what I can tell most FNAF fans enjoy it!
It’s not good. The acting was poor. Story was lackluster
Great shirt....great band! Matt did good with Blink...but now he's back with Alkaline...their new song is a banger!
Good review though. Ive seen the movie twice.
love the night at the roxbury quote you threw in there mike haha but great review as always my good sir!
you got a date with her at the municipal court system, alright! night at the roxbury
YES!
Great video. I'll be watching more offen mostly because of the trio shirt
Hells yes. Thank you!
Thank you for your review! I agree with everything you’ve said. I’ve watched a lot of the gameplay and got pretty into the lore videos, but i was bored out of my mind. I fell asleep on the movie twice before actually finishing it. It had a lot of potential.
For example when he’s getting attacked by the kids in his dream, they could have cut to reality, showing the animatronics physically harming him - at the very least.
I consider myself a fan of the series but I guess I’m not at the level where I’d rate this movie higher than 5/10
Great review Mike, love listening to anything you guys post, I personally loved this movie and as a fan understand a lot of the things they did. I’ll explain a bit, in the games the animatronics do exactly what they do in the film, run down the same hallways and do the same things. William Afton becomes stuck inside Spring Bonnie and is left in the backrooms for 30 years before being taken to a fright attraction, he comes back as ‘Springtrap’ which I guess we will get in the sequels. I definitely get the criticism about the ending, would there not be cops questioning Mike or the house where the aunt died?
Thanks bud! Im glad you loved it!
I only watched this because my kid was looking forward to it. Blumhouse took my money!
I feel they kept it cute for their core audience. The teeny boppers. My baby girl is 12, an absolute fan has all kinds of merch and several of their games and loved it. I, was lost in the sauce . 😂
I agree with every single one of your complaints related tot he family drama. Seriously ridiculous characters choices over and over again.
I really enjoyed it! I took my kids and they got scared a little bit. I had fun. The dream sequences reminded me of the shinning somewhat, but yeah I’m looking forward to a sequel.
Hey man love the content! check out When Evil Lurks, it's an Argentinian horror film that premiered on Shudder this weekend, would love to hear your thoughts
Halloween Horror Month really lacked this year. Only one video of Michael and Loomis the entire month? How can this be?
I can't bring myself to watch this.
"Impressive. Most Impressive, but you are not a killer yet"
Dude, FNAF is a franchise with a primary demographic of preteens . Of course there isn’t going to be excessive gore or violence. 😂 It’s literally made for kids. Yeah, there are adult fans. But the vast majority of its fanbase are, like, 6-16 year olds. It can’t be explicitly graphic so that little 10 year old Timmy can see it without his mom clutching pearls.
I know all this. But it didn't provide the scares of the game either. So what was the point?
@@WeWatchedAMovie
I can understand that.
Personally, I never found the games to be scary. I mean, the “jump scares” were perhaps startling at times, and the atmosphere could be spooky and unsettling, but little to nothing about the games ever felt outright “scary” to me.
As a result, I struggle to think of what more the film could have feasibly done while remaining both appropriate and appealing to its child audience. (Again, I know there are adult fans too, but they aren’t necessarily the target demographic.) As far as I can tell, the film is loyal to the games.
@theashwoodfaerie
(1) There is a large plethora of media made for children containing dark themes such as death, murder, and abuse.
(2) Most of the games are rated 12+. If they were inappropriate for children, they’d have a stricter age rating.
(3) The books are written for “young adults” (teens) at a middle school (ages 10-12 years) reading level.
(4) Much of the official merchandise, with the exception of collectibles, are specifically geared/marketed towards kids and families.
(5) The majority of the fanbase, or at least the fans most enthusiastic for FNAF, tend to be 6-16 year olds. Since preteens are the target demographic, this makes sense. That’s, of course, not to say that there aren’t adult fans as well.
(6) The violence in the games is always implicit, never explicit. The most “graphic” scenes are depicted in 8-bit or happen entirely off screen. There is also a lot of goofy, borderline absurdist, humor in the series that would appeal to younger audiences.
(7) Goosebumps (for ages 8+), Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (also ages 8+), and the Brothers Grimm’s Fairy Tales precede-and are not dissimilar to-FNAF. Like I mentioned before, there’s a large plethora of media for children that do not shy away from morbid themes.
6:06 Night at the Roxbury freakin love that movie 🤣
Have you checked out Dark Harvest?! I was very surprised at how good it was and the cinematography is excellent for Halloween!
As a FNAF fan I'm looking forward to watching this tomorrow.
Save your money.
@@robjones3287why? It's good.
Night at the Roxbury 💯😄😅🤣 fckn classic
The little girl’s name is Abby, not Lilly 😆
That's what I said you just have bad ears lol jk
@@WeWatchedAMovie Ohh, my mistake! 😆
By the way, I sent you a Facebook message yesterday. I think you’ll really enjoy it.
A Night at the Roxbury
Love the trio shirt
The opening is awesome and the last 20 minutes are awesome….needed a 30 minute shorter run time
Its halloween, we're gonna have a good time tonight (sexual voice)
FNAF lore is a beast, and this film was made for the fans who are familiar with it. No point in reviewing something like this if you don't even bother watching a few MatPat videos to familiarize yourself with the story. How many times do you say "I don't know" in this video?
The Blumhouse guy said something about how he hopes the under 25 crowd enjoys his movies, specially Megan. Something about that doesn't sit well with me. Idk. I'm probably just being a weird mom lol
A night at the Roxyberry
This movie was a disappointment
Mike is Skibbaing
Night at the Roxbury!
The homage of Scream was amazing it's one of the reasons why this movie is good to me. I will be honest a unrated version would help the movie shine more. Even though I like it a lot.
You hear that new alkaline tro song? Not too shabby
love it! Pure AK3. The video is great too! Zombies!
Have you watched the review from Chris' at 3C? He says he normally hates dream sequences but in this movie he LOVED them. Just goes to show movies pros/cons are totally subjective.
It’s almost like a softer version of Sinister.
My boy and me watched it and actually enjoyed it cause we didn't go into it expecting a gory movie cause of how the game plays out. You might enjoy it more if you watching it and looking at it from a different perspective tho it might have been better with like tim Burton or someone else behind the wheel
Mike: “Crimson” or “Good Mourning” ???
Good Mourning every day! But Goddammit above all!
@@WeWatchedAMovie From Here to Infirmary was my high school album. lol played that CD out
I am not sure but I think the sister's name was Abby
I loved this movie especially the twist near the end of them film
Was that a Night at the Roxbury reference lol
I was originally interested in the subject matter, but clicked on the video bc of the Alkaline Trio shirt.
Overall, I actually enjoyed the movie.
This was a fantastic review. I need to watch more 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!
I’m guessing if u aren’t a fan then it’s not really worth watching
good opening shot! such a vibe.
I can completely agree with this guy. He gets it right on.
Night at the Roxbury lol
I thought the movie was alright I like how they recreated William Afton becoming Springtrap. Yea they botched the lore a bit but I thought it was a pretty accurate representation of the game for the most part
I don’t know why anyone wastes their time & money with blumhouse, anymore.
Blumhouse really needs to get better writers and bring people on that have awesome ideas for these movie's, the only upcoming movie they got that looks super interesting that we know of, is night swim, and that is because it is mysterious,
But for the last couple year's thier movie's look amazing, but then end up being different grades of po poo,
The nail the look, the cinematography, etc. Where they drop the ball is the story telling, the scripts, they are awful, no stakes, no epic moments, horrible pacing, terrible reveals that land flat af,
Cringe humor, bad dialog, even worse delivery, the moment to moment is boring, no good lore set ups, the story's are just so freaking lackluster, so boring with shots of cool stuff here and there, but it's just not enough,
The last 2 insidious movies sucked, Halloween ends wasn't that great, kills was better, but even that had issue's, the Exorcist believer, was ok, but didn't go anywhere or set up anything really cool, it was a big vicum of whoever the writers are, and fnaf story was just atrocious, it got the worst script of them all, and the pg- rating even made the kills boring, that was something that saved Halloween kills for instance, But not here, such a shame.
The writing just keeps getting worse and worse, it makes me worry for that night swim movie.
Hopefully blumhouse can turn it around, hire on people that have better idea's and better writer's. To match perfectly with the sets, the character designs, the cinematography. Etc.
3 more days till Halloween, Halloween, Halloween 🎃
WHO WINS MICHAEL MYERS OR SPRINGTRAP?
I do think they should have had Mike by himself and try to survive the night. With a lot of jump scares
That would have been way better
How come you guys haven't talked about the upcoming movie thanksgiving trailer looks good...slasher movie.
We have I believe we watched one of the trailers in a livestream.
The movie sucked. Glad I watch it on Peacock
Blumhouse/Universal have a template and don't stray far from it. Got to say though, the Paranormal Activity franchise is a guilty pleasure. Five Nights at Freddy's is a well put together snooze fest. Another wasted opportunity
Watch totally killer your type of movie
So basically its not scary enough for you which is fine but i enjoyed it
I absolutely loved this movie! I took a few friends who had know idea about the game and they also love it. This movie is killing it in the box office and I can’t wait to see a sequel!!!
Glad you liked it! That 78% week two drop is rough though
The sister name was Abby not Lily
misspoke thank you
@@WeWatchedAMovie no problem it happens
I liked the actors in this movie, but I was SO bored!😴
Movie sucked. Coulda been a great horror movie. And wasnt. Ill take slapstick willys wonderland over this.
Totally agree
My best friend and i watched it last night, we both love the game and lore and we both loved the movie so much
I'm glad you liked it!
It wasn't that Good. 5out of 10
I never even heard of the game, but I did see the movie and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I think it was a good movie :)
